Had no choice but to find the money to get my bike back out of hock because you would not release the bike till I paid for it in full. So After having had work done with new valves new cam lifters pushrods cylinders bored out 11,000 miles later pushrod let go. Brought it back to him for him to look at told me he didn't know what was wrong but was going to cost A minimum of $2000 to repair. I asked him how could you tell me how much it's going to cost when you don't even know what is wrong. Just looking for quick cash? What was really upsetting is that he wouldn't stand by his work after 11,000 miles.

I love my mechanic friends who are trying to make ends meet, but are without some of the aforementioned. All past services are greatly appreciated. To start, I did a Google Search for auto service establishments in my area. Baldwin happened to be closest (1/2 mile away) which is a great feature as going back and forth to drop off and pick up was always a past issue. The majority of the Google reviews were favorable, as so were the Yelp reviews. I sent a message to Baldwin via both of theses sights, and within minutes Anthony Baldwin responded. Next step was to visit without being in need. Just wanted to see the place and meet this mechanic. In doing so, I met the staff and also within minutes a regular customer arrived for an oil change. At this point I will express my satisfaction that transportation is available to your home or job. Since my "exploratory visit" ( less than 1 month) my 99 GMC Sonoma PU has been to Baldwin Auto for three jobs. All were completed in a very reasonable time frame, and at reasonable cost, each visit required transportation between my home and the shop. FYI, my truck is considered in good overall condition, but based on its age and the current weather conditions ran into need of TLC. It was our experience that they were down to earth, responsive to our telephone calls and overall trustworthy when interfacing with the customer, however something has changed dramatically and they do not return telephone calls no matter how many times you call them. Initially, I was patient because my calls were made around July 4, however I lost patience when I called more than five times over a period of three weeks and they never returned a call. In several conversations with other motorcyclists, I learned that that has been a drastic change in Barnstorm. It is perceived they are custom shop, at this time but they do not communicate that to the public. While I received an apology as a result of this poor review, Nothing changed!

After making my way through the voicemail, I reached a friendly gentleman in parts. He informed me that "we almost certainly have that battery in stock; let me check," and put me on hold. I waited patiently for about 6-7 minutes, then someone else picked up. The subsequent conversation, which took place about twenty minutes ago, was pretty short, so I'll reproduce it in full: Employee: Who are you holding for? Me: I was speaking with someone in parts; he's looking into availability on a battery for me. Employee: Well, he put you on hold because we got so many people here it's going to be about 45 minutes before he can look up your part. So you can keep holding or you can call back -- it's your choice. Me: Okay, so should I just wait about 45 mins and call back? Employee: [In a snarky/patronizing/"problem employee"/passive aggressive voice] You want to wait on hold for 45 minutes? Me: No... Employee: Well then call back. [Immediately slams receiver down on me.] Now let me just mention a few things. I'm easy-going and, as a local business owner myself, I certainly don't like to badmouth a Northampton retailer, especially during these hard times. And I also understand that a workplace can be frustrating when things are piling up. So I would have been very understanding if the second guy who picked up had said something simple like "Hi, we're really backed up. Can you call back later?" Or anything of a similar tenor. Instead, this person decided it would be more appropriate to present me with what amounted to a false choice, then hit me with a nasty and patronizing tone when I -- unaware that he was just looking for an opportunity to unload his attitude on an unsuspecting customer -- simply sought some clarification as to what he wanted me to do. To recap: I was just looking for a battery. I was going to give them my business. This was utterly uncalled for. To the owner of this business, I would suggest that this employee needs a serious talking to.

There isn't much I can say about Vintage Steele that hasn't been said already. It's a great shop…read morethat's owned and operated by great guys. Every time I walk into this shop (which is fairly often) I'm always blown away by the custom work they have going on and how excited the guys are about what they're working on. What makes me different from most folks that go to this shop is I'm a Harley guy. I can say without question that Chris and Josh are comfortable and confident working on any make of motorcycle. I trusted them to work on my Sportster and I trust them now to work on my Road King. When you drop your bike off for work you'll always have a good idea on what it's going to cost. These guys are great at quoting an estimate and follow through with great communication should they discover something else that might need attention. They'll never do any work without finding out if you actually want it done. These are stand up honest guys doing something that they love to do. Just stop by the shop sometime and have a conversation with these guys. If their genuine enthusiasm, passion and positive attitudes don't win you over....you should probably find another shop.
