It think the days of a huge price discrepancy in liquor store prices is kind of a bygone era. And it is super nice and convenient. Easy to get in and out. They even carry some hard to fine wines that I fell in love with on my frequent trips to the wine country. They also offer delivery through DoorDash which I've used many times. The great thing about that is that they don't up-charge their items like most liquor stores do (you do have to pay the usual service fees and tip of course). The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and are there to help you find the best wine, beer or spirits just for you. They have lots of free tastings, mostly on the weekends. Details on these can be found on their app.

Pretty meh experience here. Corporate is at fault for strike 1 - sending out an email that a new…read moreTexas bourbon had arrived and was available "TODAY AT ALL Sigel's locations"... and then the sole Plano location didn't have it. I don't live near a Sigel's and Plano isn't home, so to drive out of my way to snag a bottle of this new stuff at a good price... and then it not be there... well, we definitely started off on the wrong foot, Sigel's. That genuinely pissed me off. Aside from this blunder, the shop is pretty decent. Clean. Fairly well stocked. Nice folks, although a true bourbon head on staff is needed. ("Well, have you ever had Maker's? What about Bulleit?") At a glance, the bourbon aisle looks really impressive. A full aisle with a lot of bourbon. On closer inspection, however, a lot of it is standard fare. The selection is not that interesting or unique or crafty. They have some good stuff, for sure, but nothing that knocked my socks off. The Basil Hayden's was on sale for an impressive $33 while I was there, so that was nice. But I could find Basil anywhere, and it's nothing amazing. So I picked up a bottle of Basil (which I've had before), took a chance on a basic, sourced bottle of rye that was on sale (which I had NOT had before and turned out to be awful), and I checked out. This is the type of liquor store that you could get by on for a lot of things, but I probably won't be back because of the corporate blunder email and pretty standard selection. If you need a bottle of Jack or Maker's, stop on by. If venturing outside of that well-established realm is impressive to you, they should have plenty of craft for you. But I'm a whiskey head. I love whiskey and bourbon in particular. If I'm driving out of my way to go somewhere, I'll go to True Spirits for the best whiskey selection (especially bourbon) in town and to support an independent, non-chain store.

I've had three dealings with this store and they continuously come across as wine snobs. I suppose…read moresome of their customers are intimidated by the wine selection process and don't ask many questions, causing the store representative to launch into Wines 101. Some folks, like me, do enjoy browsing a bit first, especially when visiting the store for the first time. Too often, retailers try to dominate and expedite the buying experience. Buying wine, at least for me, is not like buying staple items. Brick and Mortar retailers play right into Amazon's hands when they wear down the customers with overbearing service. I don't want brick & mortar to go away. I want it to improve. So, when a customer says; "I want to look around a bit," let that be clue that, they want to look around a bit. They earn one star for being consistent!
