I came here for a friend's 19th a while back and I have to say I was impressed with this fancy little restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you're engulfed by the dimly lit surroundings and the sleek and stylish furniture. Service was attentive and I have to say they looked after our group well (there was quite a few of us too), so we didn't feel in want of anything at all. They have a deluxe range of wood-fired pizzas which are perfect for big groups and cost about $20 on average a pizza. I won't hesitate to come back sometime soon to see if things are the same. read more

Always here in big group. Fun place to eat for family and friends. Food are just a tad above average. Their pork ribs are quite good but nothing else worth mentioning. Depending on the time of the day, the food velocity can be really low. Service is also very poor sometimes especially the lady who clean the place. At least in two separate occasions we almost want to bring in the manager but calmly whispered "Goose Fraba" then moved on. read more

Food is really good (especially the steaks) can be a little on the pricey side and is very noisy (may be better booking a seat outside)

Join us at Flame Pizza + Grill restaurant located on the beautiful outdoor surroundings of the Canterbury League Club. There are steaks to suit every person, size and taste from a tender 250g Riverina grain fed full-flavoured sirloin steak to a hefty 500g Angus T-bone Tasmanian steak. They are accompanied by your choice of four different sauces made in-house and two sides. We have sourced our steak list from the finest providers in leading local beef regions such as Tasmania, North Western NSW and the Riverina. For those who prefer pizzas, choose between our classic selections all cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven. Bookings recommended.

History

Established in 1956.

Canterbury League Club first opened its doors for trade in September 1956 to service the needs of the football club and local community. The Salvation Army Hall became the first venue of the Canterbury League Club. Sixty people would fill the venue on a busy night. In the first two years of trade the Club was outgrowing itself and in 1960 the Club moved its premises to Bridge St which allowed the League Club to grow as well as cater for patron parking. During the 90s Canterbury managed one of the most successful League Clubs in NSW and was quickly becoming known as one of the most progressive leisure facilities in Australia. With trade booming and patronage at an all-time high, the Club extended its trading to 24 hour trading. In 2000, the Board had approved major renovations. The renovations started in 2000 and in 2002 the Banyan Brasserie, Dynasty Restaurant, new foyer, level 1 and Health Club were opened to the public.

It comes with chips and salad or mash and veg - huge servings for $36. I suppose it's a bit expensive but it is good quality. For dessert we ordered the extremely nice and creamy ricotta cheesecake. A good meal, no fuss service and restaurant. Great for a relaxed dinner with friends and family.

i've been here so many times since it opened. love love love the pizzas, salads, wedges and chips here. haven't really tried much else though because the aforementioned items are just so damn good. seriously the chips are amaze. also the waiters/waitresses are all really nice. read more
