First of all, "Nora" was very helpful and courteous, patiently answering all my (many!) questions. I was favorably impressed with the store's overall presentation, with indoor and outdoor seating available for customers, and the overall cleanliness of the store, as well. Food is what you'd expect from a flame broiler. The real issue is the cashier, she can't take orders from anyone that doesn't speak Spanish. I don't have a problem with her, but if you're working a public facing position and you can't correctly take orders, that's a problem. I think it's only fair to update my review from 4 years ago. Back then this location just opened and it was an abomination of all that was teriyaki. Undercooked rice, stingy on the meat,etc. It was the Anti-Flame Broiler of franchise locations. My friend and co-worker who was with me during that horrible lunch in 2010 returned recently and told me it was really good. I was skeptical but figured I'd give this place another try. The staff is all different now so maybe it's under new management or owner. I've been three times now over the last month and each time has been excellent. Perfectly steamed rice, nice portion of juicy gristle free chicken, and steamed veggies. Doused with magic sauce, hot sauce, and pickled jalapenos made for a damn good lunch and it's been consistent on each of my three visits. I'm a fan of FB so I'm glad to see this location is better than my first visit. There's a ton of FB locations near by work but this one appears to be the cleanest with plenty of seating so it's the most convenient. Now it's time to spread the Flame Broiler gospel! The absolute worst experience ever. My husband ordered dinner and brought it home. Unfortunately, one item was wrong. He asked for no sauce, as I'm gluten-free and cannot eat it. I called and they said they would have a new one ready for me and to bring the receipt. I did just that. The girl at the counter was helpful but had to check with Sonia in the back. We got a coupon from VerizonUP for buy one get one free, and it has this location's specific address on it. We've been getting coupons from VerizonUP for a long time (the coupons are usually through "entertainment") and have never had any issues with any other restaurants. I asked the lady working if we could use the coupon (I believe her name was Ana) and she said "sure is it from Android?". But once we showed her our phone with the coupon, she immediately said "no we don't take coupons, only paper ones". Um, didn't you just ask if it was Android? As in, if it were from an Android phone you would accept it? So I explained that it's from entertainment and that it has that location's specific address on it, but she WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT. On the corner of State College & La Palma near the 91 freeway in Anaheim lies another great Flame Broiler. This one, just like the rest I have seen, fast, freindly, clean and tasty. This store has more places to sit than the one on Chapman and more parking as its in the huge Striplet area. Brown Rice brown rice which taste good is always a plus. Thier brown rice is thick, not dry but not wet. Beef thier beef is right on, just what I want from Korean BBQ, the green onions make it better. I love thier beef, I have had it every time I come. Well seasoned, soft and tender, a good KBBQ meat. I also tried thier chicken bowl which I enjoyed. I also ordered some white rice for my co-worker, nice big helping of it. Came to this Flame Broiler today for a late lunch. Lots of available parking both in front of the restaurant (which could be difficult to get in and out of when there's a lot of traffic on State College and/or La Palma), and also the preferred parking lot on the side of the restaurant. This location is clean, and the staff is fast and efficient. The restaurant has a large monitor, and the USA vs Mexico soccer game was on it, so a couple of guys were watching the game while eating. The menu is simple - simple selection of plates (meat, rice, fruit, salad), bowls (meat and rice), mini-bowls (even less meat and rice and includes a regular fountain drink). The menu has pic of each item. The meat choices are chicken, beef, ribs (for plates only), or combinations of them. I wish that they had a rib bowl, because I'd order that every time. Meat and veggie plates and bowls are available, too. After ordering, I waited for about 5 minutes before I got my piping hot food. I ordered the half and half bowl and a drink, which came to $7.06, and it was both filling and deelish! The half and half was tasty chicken and beef piled on top of white rice, with a topping of green onions on everything. For what I thought was a small bowl, the food was packed in there. The meat tasted grilled and adding to the flavor is their "Magic Sauce." The only thing I added was even more of their "Magic Sauce" that they have available in big industrial strength containers on the condiment counter. The "Magic Sauce" isn't all THAT magic - it's actually teriyaki sauce. There's also a "Hot Magic Sauce" which is tabasco sauce for those who like their meals more tangy. I sat inside watching some of the game, however, there's an outside patio for those who enjoy the outside elements - warm weather, traffic noises, and the security guard riding his golf cart - patrolling the parking lot and keeping us safer! Ok so I am a flame broiler whore... I love the simplicity of beef and/or chicken and rice with some kinda of slightly tangy sweet sauce dumped all over it. They do this super well here. Much much better than yoshinoya or anywhere else that I have been to. But being a chain all locations may not be equal. With Flame Broiler, that is usually not the case at all. It is always seemingly consistent. PRO TIP: Do not try and use AmEx or Discover 'cause they wont take them here :( This store is fairly new with a large TV playing sports/other mid-day programming. Be careful when you order as I often get the mini and regular bowls costs mixed up and always look at things quizzically for a bit. PRO TIP #2: Douse your grub with sauce if you are doing a to go before you leave and take a few of those sauce holders as well. It makes for an ideal resaucing after you get down a layer or two. Overall though, my half n half bowl had great taste, was loaded with beef n chicken, and was exactly what I needed to get through the rest of the work day. I do thinkt hat I may want to start eating the mini bowls though since it's a lot of carbs in the rice, but they are ever so delicious! read more

LAME BROILER! Tried this place couple times for lunch and have been sorry both times. First time took forever to get my bowl. Standard beef bowl, with white rice and broccoli and green onions. After like 10 -15 min. Counter girl said rice cooker was not working properly. WTF 75% of the food you make is Rice...NO BACKUP?....The beef tasted OK once I drowned it with chili. Good chili paste here! Second time phoned in our order for 6 people and when I got the order back to work it was missing 1 bowl and two others were screwed up. Food tastes good but service is lousy. This Flame Broiler location just recently opened up I think a couple of days ago. Before, I'd have to drive to the one located on Chapman in Orange for their rice bowls which was really a drag. Unlike the Chapman location, this Flame Broiler has a really nice staff and good location. The restaurant was selling their rice bowls for $5, which will probably end pretty soon, but surprisingly they also added a lot more meat than the one in Orange. The meat was also very well cooked, not too much not too little. The store is very clean as well. I would definitely recommend this Flame Broiler to anyone looking for their yummy rice bowls, and would suggest to hurry up to cash in on their deal. All in all, my experience here was very pleasant and was definitely one of the better Flamebroilers I have been to in the past. read more
