Flagstaff is the home to NAU, Northern Arizona University. Super small airport terminal, check in 45 minutes before your flight and you should be fine. 1 baggage claim belt so no searching or wondering where your luggage will arrive. Several rental car agencies are on site and get you in and out quickly. read more

I have no idea where the public parks to wait to pick someone up so o just circle around like a lost eagle looking to land. No idea where to ark if I needed to fly out and leave my car few days. Sometimes it's faster to drive to Flagstaff from Phoenix or take the bus than to take a flight to the airport. It was too much of a hassle to check in and go through security here. I went to a seminar in Sedona and didn't realize that it was an hour away from the airport. By the time I got my rental car and drove to the place, it was exactly 2 1/2 hours. STUCK 3 HOURS IN THE PLANE-AFTER A 1 HOUR DELAY IN BOARDING. 1-The same old BS "computers are down". NOBODY knew what to do. Ground crews were lost and very slow. More standing around than moving. Left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. It really was a shitshow. #2. Flew Skywest through American. Pilot didn't seem to give a shit. Hardly any updating. Then...after all that we hear "the plane is too heavy, need to shed 9 passengers"!!!! WTF? How could they not know that and why did it take 2 hours to figure that out? #3 THEN- "because of the delay we have to refuel". AGAIN-How could they not know that and why did it take 3 hours to figure that out? These people need to be trained in what to do when computers are down. The world does not stop. I've experienced both the FBO (Fixed-Base Operator, or basically a private terminal) and this main terminal. Super-easy layout! No jetways, but they have nice long easy ramps to stroll off and on the regional jets that land there. The terminal itself has everything in it all within easy strolling distance. Very high ceilings with a woodsy lodge feel. The TSA line is quick and the staff is very friendly and efficient, which is always GREAT with me! As of this review, the only airline I can see there is American Airlines. The gate area (only two gates, heh!) is a large waiting room immediately past the TSA checkpoint. No restaurants or food vendors. Just a couple vending machines. No worries to me! I love this airport! read more

I'm a fan of this airport. It's the closest airport to my home (still about 45 minutes away) but it beats driving 3 hours to get down to Phoenix. Whether you're getting dropped off or parking, it's very easy and usually not crowded. I fly out of this airport one to two times a month. The outdoor, non covered parking is only $8 a day which is refreshing from other airports that rip you off. Getting through security is usually not too long. I can generally show up about 45 minutes before my flight and not have any issues. And the only reason its 45 minutes is they start boarding 30 minutes before. My one issue with getting through TSA is they don't utilize the pre-check lines very well. The last three flights I've showed up for the person I would have been behind in the standard line made it through before me. They just seem to take a few from each line at a time since it's only one agent working both lines. They are very friendly, but don't be surprised when the regular line gets in before you. The downside to it being such a small airport is there's no food other than a few vending machines so eat before you come and bring snacks in case there is a flight delay. There are also only two single use restrooms once you're past security so if there are a bunch of people waiting due to delays the line can back up. Another downside is they don't seem to be able to fly in weather unlike a lot of other larger airports and planes, so be prepared to have major delays or cancellations if snow, fog, or rain are expected. I've had to drive home from Phoenix multiple times during winter months because of cancelled flights. read more

This airport is tiny and therefore easy to navigate. The staff are very nice, even through TSA! However, there aren't a lot of them. The lines to check in/check your bags can be very long and slow. There is no food currently, so while you wait for your plane you have access to 2 vending machines only. This is a real bummer when your flight is delayed and you're there for hours. That leads to this airports biggest problem. Our flight was delayed twice, so we were at the airport forever, because they don't have a mechanic to work on broken planes and they had to wait for a new plane and a mechanic to arrive from Phoenix. We missed our connecting flight and the staff weren't super confident in how to help us--it took a few hours to get standby tickets for a later flight, even though we were the first to ask for them. So, I recommend flying out of here on a day when there are multiple flights going to Phoenix /and or when you don't have a connecting flight to catch, and you need to bring your own food. read more

This airport is on the small side and when we got off the plane we got off on stairs rather than a jetway bridge. Not a big deal, just never did that before so thought i would mention it. If you're heading to Sedona, Flagstaff Airport (FLG) is your best bet. Its only an hour drive away compared to Phoenix which is double the time. It's a small airport with two gates for American Eagle and United Express passengers. The check in process for arrivals and departures is swift. Unlike larger airports where recommended arrival is 2 hours prior to boarding, at this airport, 45 minutes is enough to get through check in and TSA. Just note checked bags close a half hour before you board. The convenience of an on-site car rental kiosk steps away from the gates is a plus. Once you get your car keys, exiting to the right of the rental kiosks brings you to the rental lot. This lot is the same location where you drop your car off, often in the same designated spot you picked it up. Since this is a small, mixed-use airport, the planes flying in and out are modest. We flew in on a CRJ700 which max seats roughly 92 passengers. Therefore, do not expect a jet bridge. You will deplane off the tarmac. In fact, we couldn't board the plane with our standard size carry-on bags due to the limited overhead stowaway. Don't fret though. Prior to boarding on the ramp, you will be given a baggage tag and they will check these in free of charge. You'll receive your luggage once you're off the tarmac or found on the jet bridge upon deplaning at your connecting flight. We enjoyed the convenience and swift service this airport has to offer. Given this was our first experience flying through FLG, we were impressed with this location and it's given me a newfound appreciation for smaller airports. There's less hassle and the reduced space gives you private experience feels. From other reviews, I heard the Southwest Scramble at the cafe was delicious. Unfortunately, we didn't arrive in time for breakfast but I'm hoping next time we'll get in earlier to try out the food. For future travels, FLG is our preferred location when visiting Sedona. read more

Tiny airport that we flew into for our vacation in Sedona. We exited the aircraft via a ramp and not a terminal like your bigger airports. The staff was very friendly and helpful in letting us know where the luggage would be taken. They have a Starbucks and the car rental agencies right when you enter the airport from the aircraft. Airport had a old western feel. They have 1 small eatery that serves food and Starbucks coffee and tea. The kitchen opens at 9am and they are top notch service. So friendly! We got the southwest scramble which is an omelette with sausage, onions, cheese and green peppers. Comes with toast. Sooo good. Whatever the sausage was, man it made the dish and the eggs were so fluffy. read more

Cute little airport, but they definitely are not prepared for covid. There's so little seating that guests are forced to either stand or sit stuffed next to each other. I flew into Flagstaff in April 2019 for a stay in Sedona, AZ. So glad I chose this small and uncomplicated airport nestled in the Coconino Forest. Getting an Uber to Sedona was no problem and took less than 5 minutes--got a Lyft ride back just as easily. Ride to and from so amazing. Spoke to many who flew into Phoenix and had nothing but complete aggravation. Small cafe located in airport for a small meal, snack, coffee. So stress free. read more

If you fly into and out of big home base airports, you're gonna love this place. I flew from here through DFW, and onto Knoxville, TN, and return this past week. The parking is just outside the terminal, and free. The employees were friendly and helpful. When I landed here last evening, my suitcase was at the base of the stairs as I deplaned, and I was in my car, driving away, in less than five minutes. In four legs of travel, American Airlines was on time for all four, and I had 2 seats to myself 3 out of the 4 trips. I can not remember the last time that happened to me flying out of a major airport. It cost me a little more, but was well worth it. read more

A small airport with two airlines (United and American) that gets right to the point! One building and one area for arrivals, departures, and car rentals. I didn't have high expectations, but the main downside was the very limited waiting and seating area at the gates. While waiting to board, the area gradually turned into a sardine can. Pandemic or not, it's not great to not have any personal space. The area post-security also only had two single stall restrooms. read more

TLDR: You're probably going to the Grand Canyon if you're flying through here. It's small. ____ Headed to the Grand Canyon with a group of my friends and we flew in through this airport. It's small. Like super small. The airline lost my luggage, so that was fun. The staff at the airport were super friendly and nice. It arrived a day later. I went hiking in a power rangers t-shirt, shorts and sneakers...from Walmart, cause I didn't have a single thing to wear. Serves me right for checking my bag with delicious craft beer in it....should have just done a carry on. Brightside - the beer made it home ;) It's a toss up for this airport. Short lines. In and out super quick. It's ONE terminal. However... Nothing to eat/drink once you pass TSA, so you literally have to go around, get a coffee, finish it, then go back through TSA. And they don't really have TSA PreCheck. Even if you have it...they give you a popsicle stick so you don't take your shoes/belt off...but still have to take the laptop out. You get off on the runway, so that's fun. Overall not the worst - not the best. But the trip was amazing. read more

I'm definitely a fan of this tiny airport. Although you could likely drive from Flag to PHX in the same time you need to check-in for your flight and arrive (just under 2 hours total if you check-in an hour before your flight), it's definitely a lot easier to let someone handle the driving (or flying in this case). I was escaping the Phoenix heat in Flag recently and had to head on a work trip. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the airfare (if you plan ahead) wasn't ridiculously priced. I took a puddle jumper on US Airways Express (which I believe is currently the only airline that flies to/from this airport), and it was easy. I was pleasantly surprised to see about 30 other people doing the same thing. I had visions of there being only 5-10 passengers on my flight! Go in with clear expectations and you will be a fan too... Know that with only one cafe and a few vending machines, the food options here are very limited. There is one men's bathroom and one women's bathroom (both before you go through security). Wifi is free but shotty. TSA / Security is quick and easy as well. If you find yourself wanting to get from PHX to FLG or vice/versa and not wanting to drive, check out the flight options; it's a nice change of pace flying in/out of a tiny airport like this one! read more

Me and another woman couldn't check in our bags because we didn't get to the airport TWO HOURS BEFORE. If I needed to get to the airport two hours before maybe put a boarding time on the ticket? Or maybe have more workers than the ones flight attending to check our bags. No one is coming two hours to this dump before a flight with one terminal and no food on the premises. (There's food it's just a scam and overpriced AGAIN not an LAX and not open at 5 am) I'm sure not even the workers come in two hours before. I love this airport. I thought Austin had a great airport but Flag is amazing even if you have to fly on a puddle jumper. It is surrounded by aspen and pine trees and you don't have to go through security until 30 minutes prior to boarding. So, you can walk around outside and sit at the tables and enjoy the scenery. And a really strange thing is.............................................they have happy hour at the bar from 3-6pm. I think it was 2 dollars off drinks or 2 dollar beer. I am not sure but our tab for 4 was 20 bucks and that is unheard of in an airport. I spent half that much just on lunch at phx. read more

I've flown into some pretty small airports but this was by far the smallest. How small? Well, the only option is to board and deplane on the runway (which kind of makes you feel like a baller) and there's one baggage claim belt that is approximately the size of that tiny airplane you just got off of. Arriving to Flagstaff was a breeze. We walked off the plane, grabbed our bags, and got the rental car pretty quickly. Going home was a little more unpleasant. At small airports, I find security can be a bit of a hassle. Here, they were insistent about taking liquids out of bags and declared that day "food and book day" so made us take out all food and books in our bag. What?! Not to mention, two out of the six people I was traveling with got their bags checked... Bored much? Once you pass security, there are no concessions outside of vending machines, so it's best to grab something from the restaurant area outside if you're hungry. Of course, you can't bring liquids through. So strange and inconvenient in my opinion. Besides that, there is pretty much only one flight going out at a time to PHX, so no need to rush to get here. Smallest airport of all time! Now, that doesn't necessarily have to be a negative characteristic, yet our multiple experiences here were rather frustrating, especially for our departing flight. Security line at 6:20am. No one is awake, we just want to get through as quickly as possible and snag a cup of joe. In my years of flying, security has not once checked my bag. Not once. Flagstaff, why did you have to break my streak? Honest to god, I still don't know why they found it necessary to check my backpack that had a laptop, book, and a single pair of headphones. Cue annoyance. I think to myself, "Fine, I'll get over it. Let me buy some coffee." Get this. There are no businesses, vendors, or concessions past security. Just one vending machine. For the next agonizing 30 minutes, I stared directly at the Starbucks outside of security. The airport is so small you can almost reach out and grab it. Cue more annoyance. In the airport's defense, it's extremely well-kept and maintained. The seats in the "terminal" were also extremely comfortable. Yet, I'd rather trade a comfy cushion for a cup of coffee any day of the week. read more

On the way in, my flight was diverted from SFO to PHX and we ended up in Vegas and decided to drive the rest of the way to meet up with our crew. Because of that, I had no idea what to expect flying out of FLG. I did have to swing by to pick up my bag as it was checked all the way through to FLG when I ended up in Vegas. The airport was easy to contact and I was able to collect my bag without a hassle. Flying out was fine but I've never seen an airport this tiny. It's literally one gate! Flights go back and forth to PHX and that's it. Yes, it's pretty simple to get through security and get to your flight. The downside is that there is nothing on the other side of security. There's nowhere to eat or get a drink after security and there's not even a bathroom... pure craziness. You'll find a water fountain and a vending machine... plan ahead. read more

This is one of the best small airports. Once you land you get your car and you're gone literally within five minutes. The staff here is really nice and friendly. The one thing that used to be frustrating but it seems like they corrected it was once you check in through TSA you used to have to Exit the TSA area to go to the restaurant. Which means you would have to go through TSA again in order to go back to the waiting area. But now I have two restrooms in the waiting room right at the gate. This was a game changer for me LOL. They have a nice little café/restaurant right outside the gate area where they serve some decent meals and alcohol. read more

This is a very tiny airport. However, it is one of the closest if not the closest airport to the Grand Canyon, so it might be worth flying into FLG to get easy access to the Grand Canyon. Once you go past security, there is no bathroom, so plan accordingly. Also, since this airport is so small, there isn't a real TSA pre check, so you would have to take out your liquids and your electronics/laptops if you have any. read more

Such a disappointment! I've lived here since before this airport existed and the last 5 years has been a disaster for this place. The grounds are trashy, landscaping is shabby and looks unkept, unshoveled walkways covered with snow during winter months make it dangerous to access parking lots and vehicles, parking availability has gotten worse and worse because part-time residents and snowbirds are able to store their vehicles in the parking spots throughout the entire winter, and onsite parking has not kept up with the increased numbers of users. The Airport is the first thing people experience when arriving to Flagstaff by airplane/jet, and what should be the crown jewel of flagstaff with its magnificent view of the Peaks is just a dumpy, unkept facility. read more

This is a teeny, tiny airport with only one small luggage carousel, one airline, one arrival gate, one departure gate, and one cafe. US Airways is the only airline that services this area, on small express aircraft that seat less than 130 passengers. The cafe here is named Air Fare. The food is pretty mediocre, grilled chicken caesar on a paper plate, and ice tea in a can, $9. No problem getting a cab, courtesy phone by the wall, pass the rental car counters. Sometimes, this airport is referred to as the Grand Canyon airport, though there is another one that serves that area. Flagstaff is on Route 66 and 70 miles from the Grand Canyon. read more
