The dunes feel almost sculpted by time, covered in sea oats that sway just enough to make the whole place feel peaceful. What I love most is that it's a relaxed spot where animals and their owners can simply exist without all the usual chaos of a crowded beach. You see people walking their dogs along the sand or letting them explore the edges of the dunes, and the whole scene feels calm and genuine. Even as someone who doesn't have a dog myself, I like watching those little moments where animals seem perfectly content and humans look just as relaxed. I think that's why Old Salt Park sticks with me. It's not trying to be a polished postcard beach. It's a little wild, a little rugged, and completely unbothered by perfection. The kind of place where nature feels honest and the atmosphere feels easy. It gives you room to breathe, to think, to just take in the view without any pressure. And even without a dog, I can appreciate a place that lets people and their pets be themselves. Gamble Rogers State Park is another gem in the crown that is Flagler Beach, Florida. My family and…read moreI finally had a chance to spend some time here today, and we really enjoyed it! The park is actually split in two - divided by picturesque Florida Highway A1A (a gem in itself). The ocean side has a honor system pay box where you deposit $5 for the day, and place a numbered stub on your dashboard. The Intracoastal side has a ranger station, staffed by very friendly and informative park rangers. We ended up picking up a yearly family pass for $120. This allows up to eight people to access any of Florida's 175 State Parks. Gamble Rogers is immaculately clean and well-maintained. The picnic areas on the Intracoastal side are particularly nice! The boat ramp and kayak launching areas are very nice as well. Bathrooms were impeccably tidy - something that's always appreciated! We spent some time walking on the Joe Kenner Nature trail, and saw lots of wildlife. There are many campsites here (on both sides). We did not check out these areas because the roads were marked "for registered campers only." My only disappointment was that the beachside public walkover to the beach itself was closed - presumably due to storm damage. Hopefully this gets opened soon, as the only was to access the Gamble Rogers SP Beach would be to utilize one of the several walkovers in the beachside campground (not sure if this is allowed - will ask next time I'm there). Can't wait to go back - a super-nice State Park that is only a few minutes from my home.

Nice local beach to do morning walks, complete with Doggie bags to keep the beach clean & free f/…read more'poopies'... if dog owners would be responsible & use of them, which most do. Boardwalk & sand walkway to the ocean. Lots of different flora & fauna to enjoy... but watch out for the submerged rocks! Nice little beach for sunbathing and building sandcastles, but NOT a good place to swim. Fairly clean bathrooms... grey water outdoor shower, approx 24 parking spaces, 2 picnic tables. And if you're from NJ, NY, RI, MA, MD, IL, IN, MO, OH, PA, TN, AL... you are likely to run into a compatriot... LOTS of out-of-state peeps have become new p/t & some, even f/t, residents in #PalmCoast. ALSO... PLEASE walk your trash, glass, plastic, used sunscreen, condoms, doggy bags & half-eaten food back up the dunes, to the trash bins. If full, be a considerate beach-goer & take your garbage back to your home trash & recycle bins. Let's keep Jungle Hut pristine for everyone to enjoy... & the turtles, too!

Loved seeing the sunrise and the beach view was so pretty. At the time, they were doing construction by the pier, so I walked under it to see the sunrise r with no obstructions. There was street parking with no parking fees here. One half of this beach is dog friendly and the other is not so make sure to check that out online. We didn't stay on the beach just visited and walked since it was chilly.

At one time, this used to be a very nice park to come for a family picnic and perhaps a kayak ride…read moreon the river. Now, they have eliminated the grills from the family picnic areas. There are very large grills at the pavilions and grills out family picnic areas that are not near the water and do not have views. The picnic area we had to settle on was in a Sandy clearing with too much sun. The grill could not be turned to adjust the flow of smoke. We drove 40 minutes to get here and paid the five dollar entry fee thinking that we would get the same thing we got last time we were here... Unfortunately, even though the picnic tables are new, they are filthy too sunny and little compensation for the lack of grills and views. It is a real shame. They have bathroom facilities, boat, launch facilities, and so many other nice things, and they choose to eliminate the grills.
