This beach is pretty nice. It doesn't have the clearest water (see video) but the sand feels good and it wasn't that busy when we were there. I like it when it isn't crazy busy! There's a nice path from the parking lot to get up to the beach, and it isn't that far to walk to either.

If driving 6 hours; or booking a $300 RT flight to Miami doesn't sound as if it's in your near future of enjoying white sandy beaches with turquoise blue waters - Hammock Beach's Old Salt Park is the next best! After wrapping up a photo shoot in Palm Coast, we drove a few minutes over to Hammock Beach to catch some waves; sun rays; and the ocean breeze. Personally, I knew the sand was going to be beautiful but, it slipped my mind of how beautiful and clear the water looked compared to Jacksonville Beach. Is it true that the further south you go; on A1A, the clearer the waters/ocean?

My mother and I were out driving around Palm Coast, as you do. We like to explore, and this time around we decided to go in and tour the area around the Hammocks in Palm Coast. Driving around, we spotted signs for the beach, so decided to follow them. Wonder of wonders, we came up to Old Salt Park, which provides beach access to Hammock Beach. This is a beach access that is not well known, and it certainly wasn't busy. Plenty of parking was available. The beach itself is really quite nice. Good sand, though also great for shell collectors. The beach is a short walk from the parking lot as the coastal dunes are relatively shallow. Certainly a nice beach to visit and spend some time on!

    Horses on the beach!

Although dogs are not allowed in all areas…read moreof the beach, there's a long stretch were they are allowed (south of S. 10th and north of N 10th.) We take advantage of this a few times a month, our dog absolutely loves the water and sand and it's never crowded. Note that they do require you to keep your pet on a leash but we always bring our long-line leash so he can roam around. As far as the main "boardwalk" area of Flagler, there's plenty to see and do. We like to sit near the pier and watch the surfers catch waves. There's definitely a friendly, old-school hippy-surfer vibe in Flagler that I love. A few fun beach bars that have outside seating with views of the ocean that make for a great lunch spot. One of my favorite things about Flagler is the drive to get there, take the A1A for a scenic ride up (or down) the coast, it's a real crowd-pleaser for out-of-town guests, they'll love the views! Overall, don't miss checking out this little gem of a city, you won't be disappointed.

This beach is so unique in comparison to almost every other FL beach, and I love it for that! The…read moresand is this cool orangish color because it's a mix of actual sand and crushed sea shells, and it almost gives you this other-worldly feel.. It's also really spongey so it's a good workout just to walk a ways. I felt much more at peace here than some other beaches- it's not as touristy so it's much more chill than some of the more mainstream FL beaches and it's a great change up. There are huge waves- perfect for surfing or boogey boarding. But that being said, the waves hit the shore pretty hard even up close so just something to be aware of if you're bringing kids. They have a big pier to fish off of and bathrooms and rinse station. Right across the street (A1A) all along the road there are dozens of restaurants, shops, and other businesses all within walking distance of the beach, it's so cool and nice to have everything so close by! Flagler is also a half hour from St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, so it's a great place to stay for a few days that's quieter but you can still see more of the coast. I think this is one of the coolest beachtowns I've been to yet. You gotta come here at least once just to experience how different it is!

Our family of six stayed in a villa for a week, and we all fit very comfortably. The beauty of the…read moreliving area was impressive as soon as we opened the door. The colors and style were very warm. The table was sturdy and set with eight chairs. I don't like fake plants, and the place had them in every room, but it is just a taste difference. Many of the table ornaments were boxes that my kids kept wanting to put things in, eep, very nervous that we would leave something behind because kids hid it. The kitchen was very nice to use with bowls and spoons for cereal, glasses for water or wine, mugs for coffee, a full sized coffee maker in the room, dishwasher and a full sized fridge. With a grocery store just down the road, it was easy to fill the fruit basket-pantry-fridge with everything we needed. The kid bedrooms were decorated beach or nautical and had their own sinks but shared a tub/toilet part of the bathroom. Pocket doors made the tight bathroom spaces less snug. The master bedroom was lovely of course. The mattress was certainly not one I'd want at home but worked fine for a week. Ceiling fans all over kept the rooms cool and air fresh. The patio was really cool during rain but totally useless otherwise because of mosquitos. The ceiling fan outside probably helped but walking on thousands of dead bugs to sit outside didn't appeal to me. The night we checked in, we found a couple maintenance issues, and a very nice man was able to help us the next morning. Housekeeping kept us in towels and took out trash every day. They were great. Maybe it's a California thing, but I had a real problem throwing out cans and bottles. They don't have a way to recycle.
