    Goat's Milk Cheesecake

    There is a meticulous artistry to FK's offering, both in taste and presentation. The onion soup was a visual delight, nestled in a whimsical bird's nest. The oxtail tortellini and sablefish both had flavourful hits with each bite. The kobe short rib might be one of the best melt-in-your-mouth meat dishes in the city. The goat's milk cheesecake was elevated without losing the simple indulgence of a cheesecake. And the passion fruit parfait was all delicate dollops and dome. But the thing that impresses me most about this place is that all this Michelin worthy dishes are served with a charming warmth that you don't always find at fancy places. It's like you've been invited to the home of one of the city's best chefs, and are enjoying a casual dinner with friends. And it's what makes FK a place to go back to again and again.

    @fkrestaurant for an exquisite French inspired menu....and now listed in the @michelinguide FK Restaurant has been on my list of restaurants to visit for awhile. Especially after meeting the team at last years @greatkitchenparty where they placed third which was no easy feat at this prestigious competition. Finally made it there for my recent birthday celebration, and it was amazing and exceeded my expectations. It was an excellent start to the evening with the tastiest Prime Beef Tartare topped with Truffles ...one of the best and perfectly seasoned. I learned what makes it so special is that they use quality Prime Beef which is top 2% of beef quality worldwide which is not often found in many restaurants at all. The Oxtail Tortellini with Morel Fricassee was delicious. The tortellini was a perfect thickness and texture with a generous portion of morels..... and that sauce was so good I had to ask for more of that yummy bread to scoop it all up!! The Veal Chop is tender and is perfect for sharing served with charred Rapini in a rich and very flavourful porcini jus. For dessert, it was no ordinary Strawberry Shortcake. It was a moist lemon olive oil cake topped with a strawberry sorbet flower .....a very stunning presentation! This week, Michelin Guide in Toronto has just added 12 new restaurants to their list. Congratulations to Chef Frank Parhizgar and lovely Shawn Cooper ...@fkrestsurant is on the list!!     I didn't know that this place was on the Michelin guide but after dining here I can absolutely see why. At every part of the night the service was extremely professional, and the servers were very welcoming and helpful. Another thing I noticed was how clean and orderly the whole restaurant seemed, everything was set up nicely and there was nothing out of place. Onto the food, I was really excited to try this place and outside of two dishes that I'll touch on in a bit I was very happy with my meal. We started with complimentary bread that had a unique butter and was a good start to our dinner. For appetizers we got the burrata and oxtail tortellini and they were very tasty. I only wish the portions were bigger so I could enjoy it even more. For our mains we got a duck breast and white fish, and they tasted as good as they looked. The two minor issues I had with my meal were the side vegetables and the strawberry cake we ordered. I didn't even end up taking a picture of the vegetables because I was so disappointed in what I got. The strawberry cake definitely looked really nice, but the taste was quite average. Nowhere near enough to dampen my meal, but things that I will be careful about next time. Overall, this is a really lovely meal and I highly recommend checking FK out for a nice dinner or occasion!

    Food, quality, service and passion = amazing! Very thrilled to have found this gem and tried this restaurant for the first time! The unique dishes, flare and quality were great from start to finish. They do different and do it well! I was so impressed with their in house sun dried tomato loaf and chocolates/ truffles as an added touch. They were delicious! I'd seriously just pay whatever get the bread for take out! They were great with having a high chair ready, never serving dishes over the toddler as proper etiquette and always asked if our lil girl needed anything. We ordered the oysters to start, then a pork chop, bbq short rib, bouillabaisse and the beef tenderloin with seared foie gras. Everyone enjoyed their meals and each other's from trying!! The pork chop was so tender and juicy which a lot of restaurants have a tougher time executing- not here! We also got 2 desserts to share. Delicious and great presentation! We will definitely be back!!

    Wonderful birthday dinner! My husband and I took a little stroll through our neighbourhood last week and walked by FK. Hubby asked me if I thought it might be Frank's Kitchen (he took me there for my 30th a couple of years ago and it was insanely good) but I assumed it couldn't be the same peeps. Lo and behold, after reading some other reviews - I see this is the same Frank of Frank's Kitchen! I suggested I take my husband out for his birthday to celebrate at FK - he happily agreed. I was a bit worried I wouldn't get a reso the same day (we decided late Monday night we wanted to book for Tuesday) but was pleasantly surprised to have a call back confirming our reso after I called around 1:30pm. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and settled into the beautiful space. Our server was very nice and totally sold us on the seafood tower pretty much as soon as he described it, full of many types of fresh seafood with lots of different flavours and textures. While we were waiting for our tower, the chef sent out an amuse bouche which consisted of a deep fried goats cheese ball, sitting on a tiny bed of braised veggies, then finished tableside with a pour of tomato soup tableside - just heavenly! Our seafood tower arrived a short time later and it looked amazing (see photos!). So beautifully presented with bright colours and careful preparation. There were mussels, clams, king crab legs, prawns, lobster ceviche, raw oysters, oysters Rockefeller, house made cucumber kimchi, served with sides of hot sauce, mignonette, fresh horseradish and lemon. This was hands down one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had - everything tasted so fresh and the layers of different flavours were perfect. Its hard to pick a favourite bite out of the tower but the coconut lime ceviche was out of this world delicious - I wanted to lick the bowl! The rosé champagne I ordered was a perfect accompaniment to the beautiful seafood. Our server was also kind to bring a taste of prosecco for my hubby to try with the tower (he hadn't had this pairing before) and he loved it. For our mains, my hubby chose the steak and I opted for the black cod along with an order of onion rings. Everything was so tasty, my fish was cooked perfectly and the romesco sauce with the crispy potatoes and blistered tomatoes was awesome. Bae loved his steak, which was served with truffles shaved over tableside and topped with a crispy fried cheese fondue on top - it was insane. Our server also shaved a nice slice of truffle for my hubby to try just on it's own (he also had never tried) which was so nice. The onion rings were also epic - light and crispy with nice chunks of flaky salt speckled in the batter. Even though we were stuffed at this point, we decided to try a few desserts after hearing they have their own in house pastry chef. We selected the coconut tart, housemade matcha cherry blossom ice cream, and the goat's cheese cheesecake. All of the desserts were so beautiful, the coconut one was topped with tiny butterflies made out of black sesame - incredible! Housemade chocolates arrived with the bill, such a lovely touch! Can't wait to come back to try their brunch!

    This is 4.5 star restaurant. They had a very nice wine list that had bottles of wine that were below $100 and if you don't finish the wine, they will pack up the wine bottle for you and you can take it home. The focaccia bread with the red pepper dip was so good as the bread was light and the red pepper dip was light. The beef carpaccio was excellent. The chanterelle fogottini with truffles and Parmesan was very good. The Nova Scotia Salmon was ok and just a tad overdone for my liking but the veal chop and the beef tenderloin were excellent and perfectly done with flavours that worked perfectly. The passion fruit party and the espresso chocolate ganache were really good and not very sweet. The chocolate ganache was lighter than I expected. Definitely a restaurant to try in the Wychwood Park area.

    I have been coming to FK from when it was Franks Kitchen on College and I've never been disappointed. The service is always on point, but the food is the true star. The seafood Boullaibaise is so good. The seafood is fresh and the broth is amazing. I can never get enough of it. I practically dip everything into it. I came to try the new dish the Iberico pork chop and It lived up to what I expected. Chef Knows his flavours and this one hit all the notes. The passion fruit parfait dessert was a huge surprise since I'm not the biggest fan of passion fruit, but this dessert might have changed my mind on that. The flavours and textures were smooth yet explosive at the same time. Very punchy. Just a really great meal that I've come to expect each time I come in. Can't wait till my next meal at FK.

    I called on the day of and they happened to have one table left for the night. Too bad it wasn't on the patio because it was decorated super cute! For some reason I can't remember exactly what the dishes we ordered were and I'm not sure why because everything was really good. But from what I can remember... For appetizers, I believe we got a lobster soup and tuna tartare. It wasn't just a bowl of soup, but more like a lobster app accompanied by soup, which was poured when served. Large chunks of lobster and the soup had all these flavours I wasn't used to having. No complaints. Tuna tartare was solid. I had been craving for one for months so I had to get it. It was everything I wanted. I think we had a steak main and a scallop main. The steak was cooked really well and I loved how it was so saucy. The fries that came with it were perfect. Scallop was another dish I was craving for so long so I was really excited for it. While it was good, I was hoping for a fresher flavour profile and what I got was more heavy. No fault to them but it was just what I had been wanting throughout the lockdown. I also got a sangria and loved it. We didn't end up getting dessert only because we had pre-ordered dessert elsewhere. When we got the bill, we were given two chocolate truffles with it. These are amazing! I don't think I even shared. Pretty sure I just ate both without saying a word. Wish I got the bill after every item ordered... Staff here were super nice & friendly. Knowledgeable to any questions we had. I honestly have no complaints and would definitely go back.

    Part of a longer review... "But the most dramatic dish - a true showstopper that forced me to pause, admire and idolize the chef's skill - was the on elk. The contemporary plating showcased four generous pieces of elk tenderloin, placed in a square with accents of wild mustard ravioli haphazardly placed between the succulent morsels of meat. Homemade pasta is difficult to master, and regrettably the ravioli was evidence. A slightly waterlogged interior of bland, mushy wild mustard detracted from the dish's appeal. While I was let down by the underwhelming flavour of the ravioli, the beefy, clean and slightly sweet finish of the elk paired perfectly with our wine, making it more enjoyable. The rich red cherry jus on the white plate emulated blood, and expertly-diced accompaniments of popsicle pear, confit crosnes (or Chinese artichoke) and pickled breakfast radish danced around the luscious protein..."

Le Pithivier - Beef Wellington "À la Française", Foie Gras, Spinach, Mushrooms, Beef Jus : I added this for $80 and it was delightful. As an add on i I suggest sharing this as it is substantial. However the taste is excellent. Foie gras instead of pate is a very nice touch. Le Campignon consists of a Mueller (finely chopped mushroom mixture) was also excellent.

We started with cocktails -- the Beurre Noisette (Brown Butter Spring Mills Whisky, Spice Rack Demerara, Aged Bitters) and the Eau Poivre (Tromba Blanco Tequila, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Cointreau, White Pepper, Lime, Cucumber Bitters). Both drinks were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. For starters, we had two French Onion Soups (rich beef broth, red wine, caramelized onion, toasted baguette, and Gruyère cheese), which were seriously comforting and, in my opinion, some of the best French onion soups in the city. We also shared the escargots with garlic, butter, parsley, lemon, and brioche -- classic and satisfying. For mains, my date ordered the Duck Confit Cassoulet with Herbes de Provence sausage, lardons, white beans, tomato, parsley, and jus, and I had the Beef Bourguignon with braised beef, pomme purée with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, and bordelaise. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and rich in flavour. We finished with crème brûlée (vanilla bean custard with Chantilly and berries) and lemon curd cheesecake (pâte sablée with lemon curd and blueberries). Both desserts were a lovely finish to the meal. The place was busy without feeling chaotic, and the service was friendly and professional, even if a little slower than I expected. The food was delicious overall and showed quality and creativity. The room was a bit chilly for my liking. I ended up draping my coat over my lap to stay warm (I get cold easily, though). Frenchy is a beautiful spot for date night or a special dinner, and I'd happily return to try more from the menu.

I loveeed the flavor profile of this as it tasted like it was made with a darker chocolate so it wasn't too sweet and the chantilly had hints of coconut flavor in it :D I just felt very full afterwards because the portions of all the food were so large haha (not a complaint, I swear) The french onion soup here is also very good but my god, get the chicken liver parfait unless that isn't something up your alley! Our server was also amazing and told us they could bring us more bread if needed for the chicken liver parfait and they also checked in on us at the right times and not when my mouth was full of food - it makes all the difference, truly :D

For Main, we had Short ribs steak and house-made pasta, the portion of the short ribs steak was a little bit small, but the steak is tender. For dessert, the waitress recommended us for Biscoff Cake, which was a unique item for Winterlicious. I love the cake, it was soft and creamy. Both the signature Aloette burger with Beaufort cheese and the fried chicken sandwich were excellent. But the highlight was the lemon meringue pie! The lemon curd and meringue were some of the best I've ever tasted. Oh, I almost forgot to mention their cheddar cheese bread! Sooo good! I'm officially a fan of Aloette!
