I would never begrudge this place because it's a genuine dive bar with a prominent location on Geary. Yet, it has such a nondescript storefront that you could easily miss it. There are devoted regulars here, and there are barhoppers that bounce from nearby watering holes like The Pig & Whistle (review: https://yelp.to/BNxjPw6H-4) and Would You Believe (review: https://yelp.to/gq7dW9uimk). And then there's me who is usually one and done, I swear. Especially here where I got a Tequila Sunrise in a pint size glass for just $9 (Photo 2). It must have been 15+ years since I've been here. The hot Asian bartender girls are gone. The friends that used to hang out here all have moved away. Fizzee's is still a friendly neighborhood bar. Plenty of seats and no wait at the bar. We came in to reminisce after a meal down the block. So much has change. Service is still excellent. read more

Fizzee's is just your classic Bay Area dive, which is rare because these are few and far in between these days lucky for us, we still get an old-school, laid-back joint to drink and shoot pool in to pass the time. All of the bartenders are incredibly nice, and drinks are still affordable here. Pool runs $5/3 games or $2 for a single game. If that's not your speed, there is plenty of room inside for you to sip a beer and watch sports. Pitchers go for $20 and shots are around $5. Can't beat those prices anywhere. read more

Dropped in to watch the game and meet up with friends. The bartender was not too familiar with my request for a name whiskey. Heck it was a weekend night so that was a little surprising. The place was fairly clean but surprised by the lack of reasonable snacks. Ambiance was nothing special, albeit early. So meh for the service, meh on the snacks and jury's out for ambiance. Came here on a Tues night at the suggestion of Ting A. who wanted to play pool after we left a slow night at a lounge downtown. Okay! I'm always game... I guess I would say it's dive-ish but not necessarily a dive bar. (I'd agree with Paul J. and Cliff B.) Somewhere in between a dive and neighborhood bar. But friendly none the less. Bartenders were awesome! Attentive, social, friendly, and responsible (and though it's not, it could be my sole purpose for the four stars when I overheard one of bartenders cleverly convince a patron to have a glass of water instead of what he ordered). Not surprising that he needed one though because these ladies know how to pour a drink!! Thank you!! Since we came to play pool that's exactly what we did!! I am horrible at this game but I like to play anyway. $1 a game...ask the bartenders who will gladly give you change for the machine. It was a good night though there were some questionable in attendance but all in all, still a good night. I secretly have the urge to somehow get into the walled go-cart (which I didn't even see when I was there) for a picture (as I've seen someone obtain on the other Fizzee's page), then get that picture of me put on Fizzie's cork board. CC tabs were $20 minimum. Happy hours are 3-6pm; discounts are $.75 off a glass, though the regular prices are quite reasonable. Their Remy shots with Coke chasers ($25?) were too pricey though. The female bartenders were cute (calm down dudes, their pics are not on yelp...yet, so will have to visit, yeah?): Jade is really nice and friendly, and Tammy and June were also fun and cool to chat with when there was a chance. They were talkative while so busy with the regulars/barflies. I can see myself hanging at this bar more often than others. Sporty decor. Definitely a dive establishment but they represent the genre well. A couple of pool tables. Sports stuff all over the walls and the close to the other Geary street bars if you want to bar crawl for the night. The drinks are very affordable and you finding a good seat to watch the game isn't difficult at all. There's a simple profit plan for Asian dive bars in SF: Hot and flirty female bartenders + lots of booze = mad loot for the owner and lighter wallet for the customer. Fizzie's was my introduction to this business model. How much I spent here is mind blowing. However, I can't forget the fond memories of such wonderful bartenders and regulars that made me feel as if I were the king of the world. Coupled with free shrimp chips, Korean onion ring chips, or Japanese snack mix, the sodium content of these items were sure to arouse a thirst greater than that of a Sahara desert trekker. Surrounded by gorgeous women and an ever attentive owner who made sure my glass was full at all times, one can easily lose track of time in this pseudo import model fantasy land. Alas, the reality is what Ice Cube said: You don't love me, you love my money. And so, Fizzie's, I regret to inform you that you and I are no more. First, props to Euge for suggesting a stop at Fizzies. And while I had never gone to the place in it's "AZN sausage fest days," I'll have to take his word for it that things were a little different back in the day. In any case, it sounds like the place's atmosphere has changed quite a bit, although it still retains the same owner. I was tasked to be a part of the Yelp advance party and so walked into the place solo. Suddenly, visions of a thousand spaghetti westerns pop into my head, as the handful of scruffy regulars give me the WTF look....Uh oh--I've been here before...the walk into unfamiliar territory, territorial alcoholics wondering what the fuck you're doing in THEIR bar, monopolizing the juke box, owning the pool table, and just waiting for any excuse to toss you....you know the drill. So, with some trepidation, I pulled up a spot at bar and ordered up a pint. Not even a sip into it, a craggily white haired dude wielding a pool cue steps up with menace in his eyes, looks me over, and says.... "Hey, how's it going, my name's B____! you look kind of familiar, but I don't think I've ever seen you before?" For a moment confused, I introduce myself and we exchange "good to meet you"'s. Expectations? Totally shattered. I go on to shoot the shit with the bartender and laugh as regulars exchange their 'no, fuck you you fuckkity fuck' jokes. Euge drops in with a couple of ice cream sandwiches (cause that's how WE ROLL!) Mmmm, Ice cream sandwiches and beer. (actually, strike that....not yummy at all). Then came a crew of our dear Yelpies. The rest of the night consisted of lots of drunken stick, a hail storm of biblical proportions, bullshitting with our hosts, and a rock solid bartender. The only real tension came with some controversial juke box selections, but Ed M. shot out with his puppy dog eyes, and we all managed to leave with our limbs.... In the end, the place may be gruffer than a billy goat, but seriously, appearances can be deceiving. Fizzee's has a lot of potential to be a great place under the right management. Unfortunately, they have seemed to be struggling in the last few months. There heavy trafficked location seems to be the only reason why they have been able to make ends meet. The lady who owns the bar has overcharged me and my friends on multiple occasions. Apparently, this has been known to happen to several other people. After having a two beers each, we ask for our tab. The total was far beyond what 4 beers could be so we asked. The owner, the Asian lady, repeated that she has owned the place for 20 years and accused us of lying. I then went to the bartender who actually took our order. He remembered that he served us only beer, while the lady continued that we had ordered six shots. The miscommunication could've been easily handled. However, she lost her temper and started yelling for her bouncers. The bartender who served us quit his job right then and there. This seemed to even more frustrate the women and she started accusing us for the recent problem. The small bouncers were very intimidating and I was forced to sign for the expensive tab. If you go here, don't give her your card. Just pay with cash upfront and you will avoid the issue. This was a very disturbing experience. It's okay. good place to go if you're just trying to kill some time. always seems to be dominated by guys (not implying that's a pro or con, just stating the facts). It's a pretty big place with pool tables in the back. There's a jukebox, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. It's good if it's usually playing music and the patrons have good taste in music; it's baaaad if the patrons have bad taste in music and the same songs are being played over and over, if any music is played at all. Fizzee's seems to be the latter more often than the former. The bartenders all seem to be blond haired asian girls that look, talk, and dress the same. it's kinda creepy. but lucky you if you're into that sort of thing. read more

Been here twice and the second time was just as unmemorable as the first time. From what I could piece together, I thought the older patronage at the bar was hilarious. My initial thought was that a family function was taking place, but that didn't fit with the time of day or the locale. How else could you explain a dozen old men and women that could pass off as my great aunt's and uncles? Anyways its a standard stocked bar. They only accept credit cards if you spend over $20, which makes buying rounds for 3 people an inconvenience. Even though there is decent number of people in this bar, due to the number of bartenders, getting drinks is quick. Unlike most bars the place is also actually pretty well lit. So keep that in mind if you don't want to look at bud's ugly mug or you want to hide your vampire-esk, blood shot eyes. They got a couple of pool tables(occupied), juke box, and random ish all over the wall to you give you this mildy disturbing vibe. Also why are all the bartenders asian with bleached, blond hair? It is just one of the odd peculiarities of this place that adds to its charm. The place is hardly feels "merry," so if you want a private, quiet place to sip on a brew then come here. read more

I'm not Korean. I don't eat shrimp chips. There is a lingering odor of unflushed excrement. The bartenders are nice except for the one that looks like Rupaul with two-inch long eyelashes. I have dubbed her "The Beast". Heaven is not so heavenly. They don't dance on the bar. They don't pour shots into your mouth. There's an internet juke box, two pool tables, an AREA 51 arcade game, and an Indiana Jones pinball machine. There's a car bolted onto the wall above the bar. Pool is free on Saturday during the day, and all day and night on Sunday. Come on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Watch out for The Beast. Don't talk to the regulars or they'll bother you the next time you go there. It's a dive. Don't expect anything more. read more

Fizzies used to be the default go to bar (roughly 4 years ago) in the Inner Richmond. My sister, cousin and I even knew some of the waitresses. Love the free shrimp chips and others (the sweet ones whatever they are). The last time I went the bartenders didn't mix that great of a Gray Goose tonic (not too hard to make), but at least she was friendly. Fun times can be had at Fizzies due to the multiple tvs, free snacks, and interesting crowd. I've brought many folks here and they've agreed completely. read more

Fizzee's is an average bar that doesn't aspire to be anything more than a place to sell drinks and keep people drinking. I can't say it needs to be visited at all. Done with the bathroom I left my glass on the urinal and gots the far away stride to find my way home, that Richmond mist reminding me that I wouldn't mind walking to the beach. Came here to burn 2 hours while my boyfriend's tires were getting repaired a couple blocks away. (Ran over a screw, needed to change it ASAP to get home) I asked for a chip shot (coffee alcoholic drink), and the bartender/owner thought I said "cheap shot" LOL -_-. So much communication confusion here... Owner was not the friendliest... I wanted to play billiards and asked her for change so I can put quarters in. She told us that we had to buy drinks first before I got change, which we were going to do... Anyways, it was only $10 for a beer and a shot. After perusing the reviews, I realize I have to make something clear about Fizee's. This in no way is a casual drinkers haven. This is a serious, hang out during the day, and get shitfaced kinda place. I know this because I live two blocks away. Another thing is, DO NOT go at night. It does become an asian wonderland of weirdness, that doesn't bother me as a regular, but will definitely deter the newbie or novice drinker. The day time offers so much. Cathy the day time bartender or often times Heaven as she likes to be called are older hilarious women. Cathy has a smart ass remark for everything you say, and can generally be deemed more intoxicated than you. However, she will drink your ass under the table easy, if you want to make her happy buy her a shot of fernet. Occasionally Cathy gets in the mood, and will make a great chili, or sometimes for a customers birthday there will be some cake and birthday songs to be sung. This is a REAL neighborhood bar, all outsiders NEED NOT APPLY. Another perk of this bar is the regular and now long time friend of mine, BILL. He lives right next door, and has been currently building a stained glass huge carousel in his apartment (he has promised me a stained glass elephant... about a year ago, but I KNOW it will happen). He has a wonderful dog name Zulu, who you can feel free to pet and play with as long as you like. In general the daytime crowd is regular alcoholic wonders, not for the faint at heart. I usually come here only on Tuesdays, when my neighbor/good friend Guy Spanale (of Swan Oyster Depot and Rattlecans Rock n' Blues Band fame) is off from work. We grab breakfast at Hamburger Haven and then--properly filled with greasy diner food--we chill at the bar with Kat, the Tasmanian Devil bartender. She even sounds like a cartoon character, with a deep scratchy voice, and a gruff but affable demeanor. Her B-day and mine are the same, so we're two Taureses who tease the hell out of each other and the rest of the regular crew who hang here in the daytime. Kat makes a pretty mean Bloody Mary, FYI. I often chill and catch Espn here on the big-screen TV, shoot pool with Guy or Bill, a regular who shoots some pretty decent stick. Keeps me on my toes. I also hold the high score at Texas Hold 'em on the game console here, although I haven't played it in a while. No one had even come close last time I checked. Oh, yeah, I'm a poker player too. More on that later... The other thing I love about this place is the hot-rodded dune buggy that's actually hanging above the bar. How it got there, I'll never know... read more

When I use to work around here ages ago I remember coworkers and I grabbed a few drinks after work. It was pretty cool. The bartenders were cute, the Golden Tee was in effect, the pool table well-balanced, and the drinks decently priced. But I'll be honest, when I was younger we came here to talk to the cute bartenders. The owner was pretty cool too. Kamsa Hamnida, Mrs. Owner!!! It's been awhile since I've been here, but I'm glad to see that things haven't really changed. There's still a mess load of guys at the bar counters because of the cute bartenders. The pool tables are still packed as usual. And, the drinks are still inexpensive. What's cool though is that they allow you to bring in outside food. They serve you free shrimp chips or seaweed if you ask for them but nothing solid to really fill the belly. There's pizza at Nizario's a block down. Take it to go and bring it in to eat with your beers. Great place to hang out with friends! Mostly guys here though, so don't be expecting to chat with a teem of women. read more

The only reason I give this place two stars is because they have beer... I had been to fizzies once before on a random Tuesday night and a middle aged pretty Asian woman served me and my friend. She was sassy and excellent at what she did, however, the boss was sitting in the corner continuously questioning her abilities and even yelling at her at some points! The next time I returned she was no longer working and instead a young woman who could barely speak English was working. The experience was terrible. First she questioned each one of our ID's, had no idea what was on tap and almost refused to serve one of our friends who has a Brazilian passport due to her lack thereof knowledge. To make it even worse when asked if they could play ANY music she told me I had to pay a dollar to do so. On top of this, the boss was sitting in the corner of the bar as always, however this time she was screaming and complaining. When we asked to finally leave they told us we were $1.50 away from the credit minimum so instead of getting another drink I just paid extra so I could leave faster. Awful. read more
