We love staying a little off the beaten path when road-tripping to national parks, especially…read moreplaces where we can cook and spread out. Traveling with three kids and a dog, we also need space and at least two bathrooms, and this place delivered for first visit to Sequoia/Kings Canyon. This location is closest to the Kings Canyon entrance, and the drive is beautiful. If you're visiting in winter, just be prepared. After December, the highway into the park can close due to weather -- this happened to us for a couple of days - snowed before followed rain. The alternate route is possible but very long. We stayed four days and had flexibility, but definitely bring chains if you're visiting in winter. The property has RV spots and rental homes. We stayed in a three-bedroom house with 2 baths with 5 people (and a small dog) for 5 days/4 nights for New Year's and had plenty of space. The home was comfortable, with a full kitchen and included a gas BBQ, dishes, and cookware. A few small things would make it even better: more kitchen utensils and serving plates/bowls, plus extra towels. We were a family of five with a dog visiting during very rainy weather, and towels went fast. It would also be more convenient if the washer/dryer were in the unit instead of shared at the office/library. Important tip: bring all your food and drinks with you. There is no store or grocery nearby, and this is not a "pick it up down the road" situation. The closest grocery stores are in Woodlake or Visalia, about a 45-minute drive EACH WAY. Bee stopped in Visalia on the way in at Winco to buy food. The internet was surprisingly excellent -- fast and reliable. We also loved the wildlife around the property. We saw lots of animals, but especially enjoyed the friendly cats that stopped by and the silly quails wandering around. Overall, this is a peaceful, family- and dog-friendly place with a lot of character. If you're looking for a quiet home base near Kings Canyon and Sequoia and don't mind being remote, we'd definitely recommend it and would stay here again.

Could use some updates for sure. A/C struggled to keep up and the floor is uneven. The tv is old, small and pretty useless. Would not take much to replace with a tv smart tv that streams. We used my laptop instead. The WiFi was strong, as was the internet. Starlink for the win! Be warned, this is a place you come back to after your activities. There really is not much to do or places to eat. Bring food with you to prep and cook in the kitchen. That being said, we did explore the property for 1/2 a day and that was fun. Google the place and its history, then go check out the old airstrip and buildings. That was fun. The lake is more of a dirty pond, you can look at it, but that's it. No swimming or anything. You would not want to. I probably would not return, but I would recommend a first visit if you are up for an adventure.

Spent the weekend at Sequoia Highlands with my LA crew for a retreat organized by the amazing BACE…read morespin instructors, and it was genuinely a beautiful experience. We were warmly greeted by Kim, who guided us through everything we needed from the moment we arrived. The property has several cabins and yurts. The cabins are equipped with full kitchens and each one has its own unique charm. There's also a great common hangout area with a piano, fireplace, bar, disco lights, couches, and high tables; perfect for relaxing or spending time with the group. A shared kitchen is also available with full cooking capabilities. If you're staying in the yurts, restrooms and showers are conveniently located nearby. The grounds are spacious and peaceful, ideal for daily walks, relaxing in a hammock, or heading up a bit to enjoy the swings and take in the sunset. One weekend truly wasn't enough to explore and appreciate everything this place has to offer. Plus, it's only a short drive from the Sequoia Park entrance, which makes it even better. My only suggestion would be to provide a detailed list of what each cabin includes: kitchen tools, bathroom essentials, and bedroom items so guests can pack accordingly.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is slightly interested. The weekend started with a beautiful drive up the mountain and into the camp where we were greeted immediately upon arrival by camp staff and directed towards our cabin--one of many unique cabins on the property that were all well stocked with kitchen essentials, proper bedding for the weather and enough firewood and supplies to stay warm for our entire stay. I was able to see the inside of most of the cabins and they were all equally cute and cozy, each having a unique layout. The property itself is beautiful, with clear signage and pathways to easily navigate, everything is well maintained and you can tell time and effort went into it all, such as the beautiful group fire pit and the open air dome that overlooks the forrest, which was an amazing view while riding our spin bikes. A short hike away from the main camp was the most jaw-dropping sunset view I have ever seen. Pictures did not do this view justice. You're so high up that you can see the sunset paint its orange glow for miles as it sets behind the mountains in the distance. The camp ground is also just a short and easy drive to the Sequoia National Park entrance, making it super easy to visit during your stay, which we definitely took advantage of. Overall my stay here was such a relaxing time and an unforgettable experience. I was lucky enough to be able to talk to one of the owners during my stay and her passion was truly inspiring, you could just feel the amount of pride and excitement that exuded from her when she spoke about the campgrounds and the plans they had for it, her past experiences and current efforts have really shaped the amazing place they should be astoundingly proud of.

My friends and I literally just came home from our amazing stay in the greatest cabin ever!!…read more The new owners Jeannie and Rich have really amazed me with how well maintained and stocked the kitchen is. The kitchen is so well stocked, it made cooking such a breeze. I was able to make chocolate soufflés in the kitchen (I just had to bring my own hand mixer and chocolate). Their kitchen appliances, pots, and pans were better than the ones I had at home! Even their gas grill outside looked like it wasn't even touched. The even got wifi, directv, and Netflix hooked up. It was nice having these options even though we didn't spend a lot of time using it. It even had ac in there! After you spend your afternoon walking up and down the river, it's nice to come inside in a well conditioned cabin. The cabin is off the main road but you don't hear too many cars. Especially if your hanging out in the back by the river. All you hear is the river. And plus it was very convenient to have the gas station, convenient stores, souvenir shops etc. just down the road. My friends and I had such a terrific weekend that we were so sad to leave back to the OC. We will definitely be back and recommend this quaint cabin to anyone. FYI: they told us that if your cell phone provider is AT&T you will have better service up there than any other provider. They still have a landline for you to use, which was nice. And don't forget to check out The Doll Nest in the area. It's a shop full of Russian Nesting Dolls and toys! How cute is that!
