By about 9:30ish, we noticed the music had stopped and it was back to silence. Our trip was cut short for personal reasons, but we'll definitely stay here any chance we get.

All the cabins have lovely lake views and front porches - perfect for watching the time pass while enjoying the incredible view. Ours is not right on the lake but up the hill so you can still see the view from your windows and front porch. Very quiet, serene and peaceful. There is a general store and restaurant on-sight - making it a very convenient place to stay in a pretty quiet area. We ate at the restaurant and thought it was quite good (wrote a separate review of that). I am only giving the property four stars because there were a couple areas that I think could be improved but it was nothing we felt we had to tell the staff. Again, we were very happy with the place. Overall, the cleanliness of the cabin could be improved. Seems like the porch hadn't been hosed down in ages and was full of dust and cobwebs. The floor also didn't seem like it had been cleaned very well. I'll give some leeway here as the area was quite dusty after a dry summer. There was a giant cobweb insight the bathroom window which was a little unsettling. Also to note, the beach area closest to the resort seems to be very popular for locals on Saturdays so it got crowded. Obviously they can't control that, but wanted to mention here for your plans if you stay. You will need to get space early. Overall, would recommend this cute resort with very cozy cabins for a mountain getaway. We didn't get a chance to explore the area - it was very hot so we spent our time at the lake. I stayed in one of the nicest well kept cabins that offered a single Queen bed, roomie bathroom with a wonderfully high shower head( I'm 6'2") and a nice kitchenette. Flat screen TV with local cable. One of the nicest and welcomed amenity was the gas fireplace that was crackling when we entered the room. These cabins are located close to all of the local restaurants and bars with easy walking access to the whole village. I will be making future plans to staying with the knotty pines in the future. The bison meat was flavorful and had not the slightest greasy quality about it. Getting meals of this quality when far off the beaten track is a delightful expectation when at Mono Hot Springs. I asked him what kind of wood they use and he told me they get almond logs locally... very cool... He informed me they make their own BBQ sauce right there... wow... no ribs today, but maybe tomorrow... and today he wanted to roast some corn in the little smoker... after talking I went back in and started talking to the lady customer again... completely forgot to take a picture of my breakfast... I remember the bacon was delicious... and noticed she had French toast... next time... it was too early to buy the BBQ and the pies, so I needed to return at 10:30 when they sell them... at 11:00 my wife and nephew were done fishing and decided to go with me... we came back and I order all the meat available to try... the brisket meal which came with chili and coleslaw... the pulled pork with the same sides and 1/4 pound of Tri Tip... and finding out that the Pie Lady made the cobbler I ordered the peach and berry cobbler along with the Coconut Cream Pie and the Lemon Cream Pie... Finding out that Pie in the Sky never left and was now taken over by family made me very very happy... I took a lot of pics with explanations with scores on all the food... My big surprise was the chili and the lemon cream pie... both got a 10/10... A big thanks to the daughter and son in law taking over the parents business... not only taking it over but making really awesome changes without sacrificing the love and charm of Pie in the Sky... it's cool because Mom and Dad still come around and help out with the business... I went to bed after a long relaxing bath, and woke up to the trees as my first view. Get dressed, put on my boots, got firewood, and put on a crappy pot of coffee so that I'm prepared to do nothing for the day. Point is, this place has personality; however, you feel free to be yourself. This place is not perfect, but it is great! It sleeps 6 people. Only 2 miles away from the southern entrance of Yosemite. Perfect for family & friends to disconnect from the busy life of the Silicon Valley and go out into the woods. You'll have to bring your own food and drinks, but the kitchen is fully stocked with all kinds of equipments - an amateur home cook's dream! I had absolutely the best time here and definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs to disconnect from the world for a brief moment and just breathe in some fresh air.

We got there, got everything unloaded and unpacked, had dinner, cleaned up, watched a movie then got ready for bed. The sheets were dirty - full of food, crumbs and mouse poop. The pull out couches were disgusting. We had three people sleeping in one bed until we got ahold of maintenance. They came at 11:40 pm and changed the sheets on one bed so we weren't all in the other bed. Yes, we had three people sleeping in one bed because there was nowhere else to sleep. He did offer a change of cabins at that moment, but it was almost midnight and we were leaving at 5am to hike in Yosemite. The thought of moving everything was too exhausting at almost midnight. The guy that called me the next day was not friendly or apologetic. The other three people from our trip canceled, because they are immunocompromised and didn't want to sleep in beds that had mouse poop in them, as Hantavirus is carried by mice in the area. Housekeeping came the next day to clean the couch pull out beds that were full of mouse poop. One still had mouse poop in it even after they 'cleaned' it. We gave up and decided we will stay somewhere nicer next time. The cabin wasn't very clean in general. Honestly, I think they just wiped the counters down and put new towels up when we got there. They did not change the linens. Pretty nasty. If you look up the Google reviews, another guest found bedbugs in their cabin. Update: They called me and apologized. They are trying to make it right by providing us a new cabin that they ensured will be clean and mouse poop free. I'll update again later.

Who knew there was a little town inside Yosemite National Park where you can find cabins to rent?…read more Turns out, The Redwoods in Yosemite is a property management company that handles rentals of approximately 120 different cabins throughout the small town of Wawona in southern Yosemite. Over the Labor Day holiday we had a neat experience with Cabin 53. It had all of the basics that you could need and was cute and clean, and had decking all around. It was surrounded by a few other cabins and some nice pine trees. Staff from the Redwoods were friendly, accommodating, and responsive. There were many different sizes and types of cabins available, so both small and large groups can be accommodated. Unfortunately our cabin had a couple minor issues which couldn't be resolved, though they did try. The Redwoods community is located a short distance off the 41 in South Yosemite. It was still about 45 minutes to the main valley area, but it also had lots of neat things nearby as well. Still better than many options outside the park. Value was decent and we didn't feel like we were overcharged. This is a great option if you are looking for something a bit different to add that rustic cabin stay to your Yosemite trip.
