AMAZING SALMON! Get the salmon! Those potatoes with the siracha aioli was phenomenal. Definitely a recommended dish from a GF DF person. I will be returning. read more

First visit. booked what looked like a good thanksgiving buffet, very disappointed, except for the salad( no oil and vinegar dressings) there were no fresh vegetables the meat was processed and salty. There was no chicken as advertised and the apple dessert tasted out of a can. Will not be eating there a second time read more

3rd time I've been. This time my friend was coming for a quick brunch and he chose Five West. I told him it was a toss up. He ordered Chicken Fried Steak with Crispy hash browns. He was so disappointed he sent it back and didn't order again. My food was cold. Staff was BLAH. No apology, just comped. SO EMBARRASSED to have brought my friend here. We'll never be back :( read more

Despite staffing shortages like all restaurants in town, they are still able to provide excellent service.

The service here has definitely improved since my last visit when the restaurant just opened. There is about a ~15-20 minute wait to be seated during dinner hours. The food is hit or miss, though definitely better than my first visit last year. We had hummus and spinach and artichoke dip. The hummus was very disappointing, with a bland flavor and thick texture. The spinach and artichoke dip was lacking in flavor. My entree, a spicy rose fettuccine, was notably better and made up for the start of the meal. One of my main complaints would be the inappropriate timing of food and wait. The appetizers took a while to come out, and when they did, we were served our entree at the same time. By the time I got to my entree, it was slightly cold and much less enjoyable. Overall, while the ambiance is nice, the noise level of the restaurant and large booths make it difficult to carry a conversation easily. Five West certainly has gotten better since it opened, but there is room to improve in its serving of dishes and overall food. It is not worth the wait, and I won't be back unless friends want to make the trip. read more

Great atmosphere and service, but Salad was limp, over dressed and strawberries were warm. A bit disappointing.

Second time I have eaten here when I have been in town. I have found it wonderful both times. This time I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. The Beef Teriyaki soup was amazing! I had the smoked pork chops this time and they may have been among the best I have ever tasted. Two thick pork chops with a potato mixture below.. delicious! Now, when I go back, I will have a hard time trying anything else because this was so tasty! read more

Where do I even began. The service was incredible, the staff were so nice and funny. The food was fantastic. The menu was simple but you still have much to choose from. Don't get me started on their outfits. Dressed to impressed, but in this case dressed to serve. They really made my birthday a fun night. Well I know where to spend my paycheck. read more

Five West - Chicken bacon pizza. The pesto sauce was on the lines of love and lust. Yea guys it was that good. - New American Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

Stopped by for brunch with some friends and loved everything about it! When we first pulled in to the parking lot, the outside patio stole my attention. It seems like a great place to grab drinks for date night or a night out with friends. When we got inside the chic decor drew me in and had me excited to order brunch. We ordered mimosas, a Bloody Mary, waffle, and breakfast burrito. All of which were consumed quickly and satisfactorily. I highly recommend if you are in the area and craving brunch. read more

Got to say, one of my favorite spots...great wait staff, the waiter we had could recite all the dressings, the ingredients, and probably the quantity..lolol. I loooooooove the breakfest also, ordered the burrito. The cheese they use makes it a tad sweet and it works....YUM!!! The only issue we had was the eggs Benedict, every time we ordered and it was 3 times the eggs weren't right..... 1st was over , 2nd was raw, 3rd was almost good but still not the silky egg yolk the you cut open to coat the meal..Otherwise that's the only bad...but really worth going read more

Cannot understand how all the reviews have missed the dessert. Had a great dinner of Jerk Mahi Mahi with a nice Martini. Paused on the dessert menu and then went and ordered the Rocky Road. Holy cow add this to your Bucket List. Came on a tray about 14" long with three outstanding light tan brownies (not dark chocolate) topped with marshmallow (Toasted) and then two huge scoops of very good ice cream. This was not your average overly sweet dessert but was more than just tasty. The martini cost me $9 and the Rocky Road was a steal at $7 read more

Found Five West while driving around for fun while staying at the Mayo Clinic. We went as an early Valentine's Day dinner and loved it! He had a burger, which he said was awesome, and I had the appetizer buffalo wontons as my meal and they were delicious! Definitely recommend this place as a must for those visiting Rochester. Even with a soda and beer the price was not too bad! read more

Food and staff are amazing! They were so friendly and food was amazing! I'm visiting a friend and would love to come back anytime I'm in town!:) read more

We stopped in tonight and the service was fast and very good. The food was prompt with a nice presentation and exceptional flavor and textures. Very pleased with our visit. Thank you for an enjoyable and relaxing dinner for a change!!! I had the blackened chicken avacado melt with sweet potato fries. The chicken was moist and tender with a very nice kick. The avacados were tender and cool which played nicely. The sweet potato fries were hot and fresh with a nice robust taste. My husband had the Tuna burger. The tuna was done to a perfect med rare covered with cucumber and pickled ginger with a wisabi aioli. The only way to improve this one is to go easy on the ginger. This was served with the house ranch fries which were hot and fresh and tasted amazing! read more

If you like flavor and good service, this place isn't what you're looking for. The meatballs in my entree were half cooked. I'm sure if the waitress checked on us I could've let her know. Anyway we will not be dining here again. read more

Five West - New American Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

Best restaurant in Rochester hands down! Amazing atmosphere, great food, awesome wait staff. Have been multiple times during our visit we loved it so much! There's plenty of gluten free options. They have a wicked good breakfast, and a menu that makes you want to try it all.. or at least almost all of it. One person in our group ordered the pizza (he loved it) and it came out a little later than the other two entrees. It wasn't an issue to us, but they kept us informed about the delay in the kitchen and even offered a free dessert. AMAZING customer service, we tried the drunken blondie and oh my! we would go back just for that dessert even if the rest of the menu wasn't exceptional. This should be on everyone's list; visiting or local. Other greats we tried: 1. the chicken fettuccine (not as cheesy as an Alfredo, but hearty and tasty) 2. the chicken herb nachos (gluten free and HUGE, one of the best nachos I've ever ordered, all the toppings were proportioned well throughout and the taste was to die for) 3. The chicken and wild rice soup (smaller but don't let it fool you, it's tasty and filling!) 4. The meat lovers skillet (my father's favorite, came with fresh herbed French fries for a late brunch) read more

This place is liked for the wrong thing--quantity, not quality. Overall, the food is marginal at best. I'm working on some probability tables to show what entree is least likely to be screwed up. I think the lowest will be around 25% - 30% with the highest around 95%. A good rule of thumb is to only order entrees with with the fewest parts, e.g., an omelet and toast. Granted, they do not know how to make toast here, but there is a 75% chance the omelet will be OK. In Rochester, one has to become adept at working the probabilities, just like in Vegas. read more

Excellent place, love the nachos, you get a ton and the service is always so friendly and helpful. I would recommend getting there early on Fridays because they get pretty busy with the happy hour rush. Nice outdoor patio also. Their soup is always excellent too. read more

This place was great! The menu had a ton of vegan and vegetarian options. They even had vegan spaghetti (zucchini noodles) and wheat-balls (quinoa)! Drink selection was extensive (wine, beers on tap, cocktails) too! 10/10 I would eat here again. read more

The brunch is great the dinner is great and the drinks are great! The only downside is that it gets a bit busy and there's a wait but that's probably because so many people enjoy it! read more

Enjoyed the food. Inside and outdoor seating available. Appears clean and a welcome environment. Hostess friendly and was helpful making a food choice. I hope to make a returning visit. read more

I went to Five West Saturday. Overall I was happy with the experience. I had the almond cherry salad, and added chicken to that. The maple dressing was really good; not overpowering so someone who isn't a fan of maple may like it. The waitstaff is good, and they made sure I didn't run out of water. read more

We visited 5 West for the first time. Amber provided excellent recommendations and was very attentive during our entire meal. We will definitely be returnin read more

I was extremely disappointed with the food. I had the Almond Cherry salad with shrimp added. The salad was essentially mixed spring greens dumped out if a bag with some chopped apples and cherries added. The dressing was flavorless and the salad was bland. The shrimp I ordered go an additional 10.00 were baby shrimp, overcooked. The shrimp were seasoned so intensely that the only thing I tasted was the seasoning. Without question I could have thrown this salad together at home in 10 minutes and it would have had some kind of flavor profile. 22.00 for a bad salad. im happy to pay 22.00 for a salad if it's good. This was uneventful. I will not return to Five West. It has the ambiance and the menu that is representative of a fine dining establishment but it clearly is not. The servers were all pleasant and polite. read more

Been there multiple times for brunch and dinner. Five stars for ambience! 4.5 stars for service! 4 stars for food! They should def expand their brunch and dinnermenu a little bit esp for vegetarian or seafood eaters. Love their happy hour latenight deal though :) read more

Met a girlfriend for lunch. Nice atmosphere. Wasn't too loud that we couldn't talk (1:00). Good server. Decided to try the Risotto and it did NOT disappoint. Loved how they prepared it with soft cooked cherry tomatoes, halved; along with cooked spinach and sliced red pepper. Nicely done. Definitely has me wanting to come back for it again or try out another menu item! Con: Parking lot is lined for small cars, way too crammed. Careful not to hit the car behind you as you back out of your tiny space. read more

I love love this restaurant . If I ever come back to Rochester, i will definitely go to Fine West again. I enjoyed all the food that I ordered especially the spicy rose pasta and chicken lettuce wrap. staff was very friendly, she checked on us and always asked if we need anything. I came to restaurant after work so i didn't dressed up at all. the restaurant is very fancy so I felt so out of place lol read more

I love that they allow dogs on their outside seating and that they have a wonderful view of a pond and green grass but the service is kind of slow to be seated and to be served. The food is really inspirational like the roast beef is great and so is the waffle marshmallow chocolate thing but it's a little unhealthy. They have a great island bar in the middle of the restaurant that serves everyone and everything. read more

Foo foo food way overpriced. Reminds me of a military mess hall with it decor. Tried different things on their menu. Just isn't there.

My daughter, her friend (Ages 12) and I had a wonderful experience. Incredible musician, fantastic food (each plate was amazing) and the creme brûlée top notch. This is our new favorite restaurant hands down. We will make the 40 min drive to come back for sure. Please build one in Owatonna! read more

I went to Five west on a whim, as its the new fun thing on town. I went for breakfast as the night before they did not have any reservations for the evening. When I got in I was greeted right away and shown to a table. I ordered the Cajun Benedict and it was good, it wasn't as spicy as I would have liked but all and all very good. The hash browns were my only real qualm they seemed very bland with out the crunch... All and all they did enough for me to want to come back for dinner, although I think I will wait until the new factor wears off. read more

We had a late dinner so our party of 6 was able to be seated immediately. Service was excellent. Tried the Cucumber Press which was super refreshing. My husband and I shared the Calamari which had a nice spiciness to it. I had the Spicy Rose Fettuccine. I had to put a lil salt and pepper on it. My husband had the Five West Stack sandwich with fries. The sandwich had so much flavor! The fries I wasn't crazy about. The peel was on and they seemed a lil overdone. All in all pretty great food, great service, and a nice atmosphere (although if loudness bothers you this isn't a good spot to go. The high industrial ceilings make it quite loud). read more

Five West was a great place for dinner on a Sunday date night. We shared the calamari appetizer, which was spicy and well portioned. My boyfriend had the tuna burger, which was tasty, but suffered somewhat from too much bun. I had the pumpkin seed crusted walleye, which was delicious. The fish was moist and the polenta was some of the best I have had. We shared the drunken blondie dessert a la mode, which was deliciously rich. The highlight of our visit, though, was our server, Kayleigh, who was an absolute delight throughout the meal. She provided excellent service and was so friendly! We will definitely be back! read more

Beautiful setting in northwest Rochester. I came in after a long day of work. I Was immediately greeted and sat at the bar. The bartender was prompt to get me a cold beer. I looked over the menu and had some trouble deciding as everything looked good. Although I am gluten free they had plenty options. I decided to cheat a little and ordered the firecracker burger and a side of szhezuan cauliflower. I ordered my burger without cheese. The plated looked like something was off. It was the wrong order. Before I could say anything the bartender caught the fact that the expeditor brought me the wrong burger. Quickly my order was corrected. The new plate of food was hot and fresh. And the szhezuan cauliflower was the bomb, sweet with a little spice. Overall satisfied. Thanks read more

SUBJECT: A Little Over Priced This is a nice restaurant. They have a lot of outdoor seating on their patio and the inside seems clean and simple. I enjoyed, my experience here including the food and staff. I would have to say it was a bit over priced, probably by about $4-5 per entree... It close to where I'm living, so I'll come back on occasion. read more

2nd round having breakfast here and we were majorly disappointed this time. Bland bloody Mary's and mediocre food. We had eggs Benedict and the bfest burrito.
