    Buyer Beware - Disappointed Long-Time Toyota Owner I have driven Toyota vehicles my entire life. Every Toyota I've owned has lasted over 300,000 miles. I trust the Toyota brand deeply, which is why this experience with Five Star Toyota in Aberdeen has been so disappointing. We needed a reliable vehicle for farmers markets and decided to purchase a used 2015 Toyota Sienna from Five Star Toyota. The van had been their dealership service vehicle. They had two 2015 Siennas--one still in use and one that had been parked on their lot for about three years. Before purchasing, I specifically asked for maintenance records and was provided them. The battery had died due to sitting unused and was replaced. Most importantly, Service Manager Jayson Lockett told us there were "absolutely no leaks." That assurance was critical in our decision. In hindsight, there were warning signs. The salesperson even said that if he were me, he wouldn't buy this vehicle. I assumed he was referring to cosmetic issues (scratched hood paint, cracked leather seats, peeling rubber trim, etc.). I trusted the dealership's reputation, awards on the wall, and what I believed was the integrity of a large, established business. Shortly after driving the van home (a 3-hour drive), I discovered oil leaking onto my driveway. Two independent shops confirmed two separate leaks: * Axle seal * Timing cover gasket I made multiple 6-hour round trips back to Aberdeen. They repaired the axle seal after negotiation. For the timing cover gasket, dye was added. Later I was told the leak was just a loose drain bolt from an oil change elsewhere and that it had been "fixed." I was told it only counts as a leak if oil drips to the ground -- yet when I placed cardboard under the van, it continued to drip. After three long trips and extensive communication, I negotiated directly with the owner, Allen Erickson. He agreed in writing to reimburse $1,000 as goodwill if I completed repairs locally and signed a release. After I requested the goodwill release for signature, communication stopped and I have not received the reimbursement. The timing cover gasket repair estimate is over $4,000 at the dealer and about $2,800 at an independent shop, meaning I still need to invest a significant amount out of pocket. I understand used vehicles are sold as-is, and I accept that I cannot prove the leaks existed before purchase. However, it is difficult to understand how a vehicle described as having "absolutely no leaks" developed two separate leaks immediately after I drove it home. After multiple 6-hour drives and months of communication, I no longer wish to spend more time pursuing this. I am writing this review so others in the Aberdeen community can make fully informed decisions. I trusted the dealership's reputation and assurances. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect that reputation. I hope future buyers carefully inspect any vehicle and obtain an independent inspection before purchase.

    Okay YELPERS, seldom do I review a car dealership, like never. I love cars but not a big fan of most dealerships, franchise owners, or the newbies working in the car business. EXCEPTION, The internet sales manager Mike Flanigan, and F&I business manager David Leslie, and the crew at Aberdeen Toyota were fantastic to deal with, how did this happen? WHY READ this review: I was a GM/GSM of a high-line dealership for 14 years and loved building the marque and then consulted for a few since. I know the business and happy to have escaped an industry that has some hair on it. So, we needed a replacement vehicle and a 4Runner fit the bill for several reasons, had a trade, and wanted financing. (love the truck BTW). So jump on the internet and see what comes back, what could go wrong? !!! :D With other dealers I contacted online being exactly as I expected, horrendous scripts being force-fed by a GSM and robot CRM system, This buying experience had us driving 300 miles to transact a purchase with a trade, not an easy task but I was so amazed with Mike up a point, I became skeptical as this was a Toyota dealership. After we did the deal by text, phone, and emails, I just had a bad feeling things went way too smoothly and feared they would twist the deal once we arrived in their beautiful new dealership. I was prepared to walk out and drive back if things smelled fishy, well everything in Aberdeen smells fishy as that is what they do there in Aberdeen, they make fish and crab happen. Well my paranoia was soon gone after meeting Mike, he's honest, loves the product, excellent communication, no BS, and seems to love where he works and he works a lot. Ok, now the F&I experience, maybe this will blow up, no it did not. I wish I had someone like David working on my team back in the day. Super nice guy, very professional and offered great advice on some added insurance and warranties, listen to him, you may save yourself a lot of money down the road. Don't know who Rich Hartman is but he's got one hell of a Toyota team as far as I can see. I got a fair deal, a great truck, and had a great customer buying experience. A solid 10 on the CSI scale. It is not always about price. My ADVISE is find a good dealer, brand representative like Mike, and tell him or her your expectations and let them do their job. If you have to drive some it may be worth it and if you're buying a Toyota visit Aberdeen. I will send all my referral business to Mike..

    They should call themselves 3 Star Dealerships. I bought a nice used truck for $28k, but it had a few problems: -It had a shimmy around 65mph -The suspension bounced like a bucking horse on i5 (original shocks with 130k) -The tailgate backup camera was scratched and produced a useless image -It was missing a bunch of trim clips on the bumper and wheel wells -The drivers door woofer was blown -The truck only had one key with a defective fob Initially my sales rep was responsive and accommodating. They set me up with a rental, which was really nice. The service department called me to tell me my truck was ready.. but they only balanced and rotated my tires. And then they tried to charge me for it. The shimmy was still there and they failed to diagnose any other problems. I fixed most of the stuff myself and then brought it to Les Schwab for an alignment. Les Schwab fixed the shimmy that Five Star failed to solve. I'm out well over $1000 for a truck I paid too much for. The sales rep and manager both ghosted me. Five Star should have diagnosed this stuff before they sold it. I expected better from a Toyota dealership.

    Renewed a lease with Five Star Toyota today. After my last experience, I expected nothing less than stellar service. I was not disappointed! Allen and his crew were outstanding on taking care of me. I drove off the lot with a beautiful new 2021 SE Corolla. This thing rocks, went for a nice long drive last night with my wife and I LOVE IT! If you want a great vehicle with outstanding service during purchase, and then in the service department, Five Star is the place to go. FANTASTIC!

    Best Mother's day present ever! Super last minute decision for the hubby to take me out looking at cars. By chance while visiting family in Grays Harbor we found out that 5 start had the car I wanted in the color and trim package I wanted. Got there at 11 am and we were finished with the test drive and financing by 1pm. We had Justin helping us and he listened to me 100% The financing part was buy far the best experience I've ever had. I got the payments I wanted with the bank I wanted. I've never owned a Toyota before before and I am over the mood in love with here! We will absolutely be back when we find ourselves in need of another new car The hubby will be due in about a year and a half for a new truck! I love my 2021 Toyota Avalon Nightshade
