We just arrived and had an emergency that caused us to return home asap- to our dismay we also found a huge lug nut set deep in the left front tire. We were charged $200 to have four tires mounted and balanced on a compact vehicle. This is a half hour job for any competent mechanic. I should have got an estimate before handing over the keys. My bad. When I expressed shock at the cost, the employee simply shrugged and said "everything's more expensive now". I just got a quote from a business 20 miles away for $25 to do the exact same job (adding insult to injury). We tried to support a local business and got shafted. Beware of these guys. read more

They did excellent work with our 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Used For Rock Climbing But Was Cheap Wow Buy It. It's still not entirely fixed, but thanks to Shorty's it's working and I can trust they'll help us out if we need it. When we put this into the shop we didn't realize just how bad the damage was and this particular year model is hard to find parts for. The poor thing was a mess: gear box, transfer case, drive train, and the shocks were ruined. After two months and a trip to a metal shop they finally had it... mostly fixed. I'd take off a star for the gear box not having been fixed the first time, but they honored the warrantee and even came out immediately to tow it back to the shop: all free of charge. The shocks are next in line, next to a new engine and transmission... um... yeah, maybe not anytime soon. It works. Case closed. They are busy busy busy. Make sure they have room for you or you'll be waiting a while. Security there is apparently quite good; our tools and stuff left in the vehicle were untouched. The cost for all the repairs was actually a lot less expensive than I'd predicted. Apparently they can also help you find a vehicle for sale. I'm quite happy with them and will definitely keep them in mind. read more

All I'm going to say is.... if your car is a hybrid, don't take it here, regardless of what may or may not be wrong with your car. They aren't qualified to work on hybrids, they admit it. Had a problem with my car not starting, they thought it was a hybrid issue, ultimately had to take it to dealer. Otherwise, they are probably ok for non-hybrid car repairs. read more

Great experience Flat tire in the boondocks (Ocean Shores) And AAA will tow my car 30 miles for the tire repair, but I need to be at work. My little Chrysler Crossfire has really big low profile rear tires and I was dubious of a small town shop having the equipment to do the job. Not only did they have the equipment and staff to immediately take care of me, but I didn't even get back to pick the car up when Rod was coming to pick me up! When my car stalled out on the beach I had it towed to Ocean Front Auto Repair, not knowing what to expect, and I will say they did a great job for me! This place looks to be one of the few "honest" mechanics around. My Explorer broke down over a 3 day weekend which they happened to be open that Monday and they inspected my vehicle within a couple hours, gave me a quote and that is would be ready in 2 days (because the part had to be ordered from Seattle) and when I came back in 2 days, my Explorer was fixed and the quote matched the invoice cost. Hopefully, I will never have to come her again, but IF I do, I wont have any concerns. read more

Check tire light came on, and when I checked them, the right front tire was hissing. The kids were asleep in the back seat, and so my wife and I hurried back to town while checking her phone for nearby tire repair places. Ocean Front Auto Repair was close by, so we rushed over. They were awesome! The mechanic, Wayne, got us right in, and fixed the tire within twenty minutes. The staff was friendly, Wayne was cool to talk to, and the bill was only $16. We broke down late at the ocean on a Friday and my son towed us to Ocean Front Auto. It was the CV joints. The owner quoted us a price and promised the work done on Monday. We came in on Tuesday and all was done and even cheaper than the very reasonable price he quoted us because he could only find them rebuilt. We were ripped off to the amount of $2300.00. They had our truck in for an oil pump change and took out entire engine to repair... Had no oil pressure. When we finally got it back it still had no oil pressure. When I got it on the road for test drive the auto transmission wouldn't shift shift into 3rd gear. Took it back and found they didn't line up drive line to transmission correctly. They also forgot to replace the windshield wiper water tank, which I had to return again after finding it was missing to have reinstalled. Who are these people. I asked for a refund and they said to take it up with there insurance company. We walked away feeling totally taken advantage of. We are locals and will pass this on to others. read more

These guys are AWESOME !! While visiting Ocean Shores for the 10th time in 2 years , discovered a nail/screw head in my tire. Worried that I may get a flat on the 2 hr drive home, I decided to try and get it fixed until I could get a new tire in Milton WA. I was greeted by Rod and he said he could plug/patch my 4-Runners tire immediately for 50.00. As he was pulling out the screw his exact quote was " this looks a lot better for you than it does for me" turns out it was only a 1/8 long screw that was just sitting in the tread and not into the tire. Sent me on my way! No charge no attitude !! He could have faked the fix charged me 50.00 and I would have never known, but he didn't !! Honesty and integrity ! I had dropped off the motorhome at North Beach RV to have some work done, when done there I needed mechanical work, they said they work with Ocean Front Auto Repair, so when done they'd get it to there. I have been in contact with Paul (probably call to much lol) but he has been very helpful and patient. I didn't even have an appointment for the RV but he has accommodated everything. My sister in law had her engine swapped out with another one and the engine failed. The valves warped because they didn't even run a very simple catalytic converter test. (Heat test) it was plugged, but still installed a fresher engine not even thinking why did the engine do this. They just wanted $$$$. I tried to get help regarding repayment or at least the cost of gaskets j had to replace. They never called me back. I replaced both heads myself and new cat. If you want an honest advisement Do not go here. They won't warranty anything and will push you aside. They are a crummy little company that cost me over $1500 just in parts to fix what they should have caught read more

If one is looking for quick, efficient replacement of manual transmissions, this is NOT the place to go. I finally got my 2004 Dodge Dakota back after it spent the better part of the last three months sitting in these guys parking lot. In the first place, we were told my truck needed a new clutch and transmission repair. We purchased a rebuilt transmission ourselves and had it delivered to them for install (which took forever to have done). After the install, when driving the truck we found that there was still an incredible amount of noise going on. We took it back. Then after them replacing the slave cylinder, we were again told it was ready to go. Picking it up we found that the truck was making more noise than ever in all gears and was still shifting with difficulty. So, back the truck went. After a few weeks we were then told the output shaft retainer was not good, even though the group we bought the transmission from had assured us all their diagnostics had been perfect before shipment. So after now waiting several more weeks to get that part replaced we have our truck back--FINALLY! All in all, I like these guys, but I'm not at all impressed with their workmanship, and would even say, if I were them I would be embarrassed by all of it! But instead, they charged us even more to replace this last broken part that was most likely caused by their installation in the first place. read more

The reason why I didnt give this place a good review is because they charged me for a $20 fuel filter and failed to install it. They had my car for 2 days and I didnt see why they couldnt have replaced the part. We went their to get a tune up so my 2 kids can get to disneyland. The fuel filter caused my fuel pump to go out on the blindside of a turn uphill and my childrens lives were placed in jeopardy. Im really frustrated and dont see why this mechanic has such great reviews. My father in law also used to go to them for service but not anymore. He has an 06 envoy with less than 80,000 miles on it. After they did a transmission service on the vehicle, the vehicle had WAY more problems than it started with. He is a very, very trusting good guy and he has since gone to a different mechanic and his transmission has yet to act up since they went to a REAL mechanic. Save your money, and go to a real mechanic and pay the extra money for labor. I have went out of my way and asked the people of ocean shores if they have used them for services. The people that I have spoken with have had similar incidents of not installing parts and getting charged for them. I feel that they are scam artists and we are going to be taking them to court. THEY PUT MY 6YR. OLD AND MY 3YR. OLDS LIFE IN JEOPARDY BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO SAVE A BUCK. If you value your wallet and your safety, you would go somewhere else. They may have friendly service over the phone but its to get people in so they can rip you off. read more
