Check your dignity at the door... just be sure to pick it up on your way out. 5P is hilarious, but it can't possibly be fun if you're sober. The bar tar will ruin your shoes, the smoke will leave you gasping for air, the roof leaks before, during & after a rainy night, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the people are... interesting. But, as my friend says, you just have to take it for what it is and you'll have a ton of fun. I still can't get over the fact that I meet some of the same people time and time again, and each time, I get the impression that they think we're meeting for the first time. What a freaking dump. One doesn't expect to find such a dump in Buckhead, but this place personifies one. Not only does it stink when you go in (they have a cigar bar that smells like old cigar smoke, wet leather, and dried Ben Gay) but their service sucks. I've never been treated so rudely as I was the other night, and by the manager, no less. He said, "It's our style to be rude. That's who we are." Okay.... The only reason this place is popular is because all the young kids who've gotten drunk at nicer places go there to finish up their night and "slum". Have at it...I'll never go back. read more

This place is great if you're drunk, and horrible if you're sober. There is no space, and walking from the front to back is a serious undertaking. That said, there are lots of inebriated guys and girls that are typically in good spirits. Prices are a little below Buckhead average, but the biggest savings arises from the difficulty to get to the bar. read more

Cool little dive bar in Buckhead with a fairly young crowd. I always enjoy the places that start playing the upbeat, dancy songs right around last call. The women love that, and in turn, so do I! Not a bad thing here, but I was surprised to see that Atlanta cops announced last call, not the bartenders... It was a bit strange, but people really split when a cop started yelling over a bullhorn. It is a bit packed, but hey, what good bar in Buckhead isn't? read more

The other reviews of this place are hilarious. I somehow managed to avoid this place for 8 months, and found myself here semi-by mistake last weekend. I actually did NOT have a bad time! Miller Light tallboys are $4, and sober or drunk, that's a pretty decent deal for the ATL. What everyone else says is true: people pull up in front of this bar in Range Rovers and get out dressed in Buckhead-crowd uniforms and you are like WTF, do you SEE this crappy bar?! But apparently that is part of the fun? Who knows. Anyway, decent time for an hour or so on your Buckhead bar tour. read more

"Atlanta's #1 Dive Bar" is the motto. Not knowing Atlanta, I sure hope the motto's not true. Stopped here in Buckhead on St. Patrick's day Saturday. It was like a movie about a college party bar in South. It didn't seem like reality that the people, with the popped collars and striped shirts, and drunken slurring of their southern accents, really existed in this world. Until I came here. And then you notice, "hey, there really ARE people/places like this in the South". Suffice to say, it was an educational experience more than anything else. This place had none of the good things you'd see at a dive bar (cheap prices, darts/games, cool music). It did have all the bad things you'd see at a dive bar (dude-bra's, AC/DC so loud you can't hear the person 6 inches away from your ear, way too many people self-absorbed in the company of people they already know). Oh well, I claim that, as someone who doesn't know the south at all, it was still worth seeing. read more

Never go to this bar ever. My phone was stolen from my CLOSED ZIPPED purse while I was wearing it. The bar staff have to know or are working with the people because it apparently happens often and they do not care. Do not go to this bar unless you want to be pick-pocketed!!!!! When I spoke with the bar staff they said that "oh the phone is probably on it's way to China". They lack of care and interest of taking care of their customer is beyond horrible. I love 5 paces.. after work at 7 pm mid week or 1 am on the weeks ends. This is my home Away from home. Staff is amazing (Dave, jack) they have 3 separate sections and there is something for everyone. Not even including the patio! Awesome vibes. Good prices and always feel safe. Wow, Five Paces...what a tragedy you have become. I find it amazing that a bar can fall so far is such a short time. Two years ago, Five Paces was coming off a ten-year run as THE bar for SEC grads. Beautiful girls from U. of Alabama, UGA, Auburn, and Ole Miss frolicked to mingle (for better or worse) with washed up frat stars. Alas, all good things must come to an end. The demise of Five Paces may be tied to the management's decision to turn the far room into a club theme, replete with a cage, strobe lights, and a DJ. Of course, one cannot be surprised that when a dive bar tries to be a club, but without the dress code and cover charge, then the wrong clientele is going to start frequenting the place. Thus, we come to the present state of Five Paces. Sure, it looks the same when you walk in, but then you notice that the people...look as if they could be guests on the Jerry Springer Show. read more

If you love having your phone stolen feel free to drop by here on a Friday or Saturday - ESPECIALLY if you are a girl and keep your phone in your purse. It will be stolen within 5 minutes of walking into this place. Also, don't bother telling a soul who works there. They could not care less and will not make the first attempt to help you. Probably are in on it with the ungodly number of people who have had their phones stolen from them while here. The amount of people I know who have had this happen to them while this being the second time it has happened to me is just insane. First time being there after several months and will not be going back ever again. Get it together. How I stumpled apon this bar is actually kid of interesting. I was visiting Atlanta with a friend on New Years eve from Philadelphia, PA. After deciding that the high end clubs in the downtown area were not what we were looking for, a cabby suggested that we go to buckhead to find "yuppie, preppy" (His words not mine). After arriving we found that all of our hopes and dreams had came true. The bar was packed to the brim with young 20 somethings, the demographic that we also fit into. Every person was good looking and was there to have a good time. They carry 2.00 PBR pounders which is all I reall need in life. This is probably my least favorite bar in Buckhead. Every time that I've been there, it's been loud, crowded, and smelly (lots of smoke). It takes some time to get through the swarm of people to get a drink at the bar, and it's certainly not the place to go if you want to carry on a conversation. Definitely not the bar to go to with so many other great options right around the corner (i.e. Park Bench, Churchill's). read more

I had my phone stolen out of my purse here last night and the staff did nothing. My purse was on my shoulder and it was so loud and crowded in there that I did not even know someone had gone into my purse and taken it until I was trying to leave shortly after arriving because it was so crowned. Terrible experience. I have talked to at least a dozen of people that have had their phones stolen here. If you want to have to buy a new phone, go here, if not stay out. read more

Your typical dive bar. There are sooo many different bars on this block, so its hard to compare them all. This place was small, crowded and service was just ok. This was by far the WORST experience I have ever had at a bar! I have been to five paces many times but after last Saturday I will never go again!! My husband and I were sitting quietly at a small table on the back wall of Sadies when a very very large man started to walk my way. As he walked my way I even said to my husband "we better avoid this guy". I had my hands in my lap and the large man reached down to grab my hand and then asked me to dance. I said "no" , he asked again and I replied "NO!" At this point I told him that I was married, pointed to my wedding ring and said this is my husband sitting next to me. The man still refused to let go of me. Well needless to say my husband was upset and told the man to get away from me! The man refused and started a fight. The man is not the reason I will not be going back, but it it because of the bouncers, bartenders, and barbacks who should have immediately removed this man from everyones presence and did not. There was only one bouncer who tried to and he was not successful. If a bar can't hire bouncers who can do a good job, then the bar should'nt be opened. I felt so unsafe! So ladies, if you feel like having your life threatened and having the employees at five paces do nothing then go ahead and take a chance. I wouldnt suggest it!!!! read more

If you dont mind a frattastic bar, this is your place. On occasion they have a DJ but mostly they just play the juke box. They have recently expended it into 3 bars connected instead of 2. This def. cuts down on the crowded bar. Statutory Grape is the BEST drink. read more

I know people go here because it's fun but it is not worth the risk of you loosing your phones and valuables, my sister and numerous friends have had a bunch of things stolen from them here. One had her phone stolen right out of her purse! This bar needs a makeover. I appreciate the free popcorn but what the hell why is there a single bathroom with two toilets right next to each other? I liked this bar when I was 22.. Went out with girlfriends on a saturday night. we were originally recommended to park bench, which is the bar across the street, but it wasnt quite my taste in live music. so we wandered out of the bar and heard live music coming from 5 paces so we thought we'd try it out. IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE FUN! everyone was carefree, dancing, having a great time. Jacob and the Good People was the band that was playing and they put on a rad show for everyone! i cant wait to see what other live music is booked at this bar because they nailed it that night! Do not go here unless you enjoy being robbed. The staff is extremely unhelpful and unresponsive. I had my purse and phone stolen from me at this establishment and I strongly believe it is an inside job. You are better off drinking at home alone and giving every item you own to charity. At least 8 people had their phone, debit card, wallet, etc. stolen from this hell hole. If you do decide to go, to what I can only describe as a prison with alcoholic beverages and music, I advise you to leave your phone, wallet, and cards at home. I know people are going to criticize 5P as a dive bar that is filled with smoke and always crowded but that is the close minded picky part of them talking. 5P has always been fun for me, everyone has always been friendly, drinks have been great and they have WONDERFUL live music sometimes. Guess what, every bar in the Roswell area gets crowded and 5P is no different and if you don't like smoke then don't go out on the back porch or don't go to any of the bars in the area. read more
