Came here for dinner with my neighbor last night. Since it's attached to a mall, parking was pretty dreadful at 6:30pm. But, I like walking, so it's all good. We walked in the door, and were immediately at the tail end of a line. When I'm not in a hurry, I'm okay with lines, it means the place is doing well. Good job 5 Guys of Valencia. Your doing well.
I got up to the register and the kid looked at me expectantly, and I asked for a bacon cheeseburger and a large order of Cajun fries. Total was thirteen and change. Kinda pricey. But, it was 5-guys, each burger is actually 2 burgers. I followed the counter, and picked up my bowl of peanuts, and head outside for a table. It was a nice Southern California evening, about seventy degrees, and the sun was setting. I put my sunglasses on as I ate peanuts.
My neighbor came out shortly after I did, and we both ate peanuts in the sunset. We waited a bit, and I realized that there wasn't breaks in the music while the people called out numbers of orders. So I decided to check in on the orders. I walked in just as they called my neighbor's number. Mine took a bit longer as they had to make the fries, and add the bacon. I waited a bit and they handed me two grease-spotted bags. I took them out and placed them on the table my neighbor and i was sitting at.
We opened up our burgers and first off I noticed no 'stuff' in the burger. No lettuce, no tomato, no onions...just two patties and the cheese. Hey...not even any bacon. I wrapped it back up as best I could, and walked it back into the place. I told the guy ' There's no bacon on my bacon cheeseburger?' and the guy winced, and quickly grabbed a bunch of bacon out of their bacon cooker-doohickey, wrapped it in some aluminum foil and handed it too me. I took the bacon, and my burger back out to the table. Two stars fell off the review there. I left them in his bacon cooker-doohickey. Mental Note: I guess you need to ask for the 'stuff' at the counter when you order. I walked back out to the table I was at, and began to assemble my burger.
The burger was good. Well seasoned, two burger patties, lots of cheese, and now, lots of bacon. But I think it'd have been even better if I'd added the 'stuff'. The Cajun fries were also good, and there was alot of them. The spice they used as seasoning was good, even when I applied vinegar to them. The one large order was more than enough for both my neighbor and I.
Midway through our meal, the manager came out and checked up on people. Made sure everybody had everything they needed, and offered to get stuff if they didn't. I mentally fished the star out of the bacon cooker-doohickey, and reapplied it to my running tally.
So, fight the crappy mall parking, see the nice manager, be sure to ask for 'stuff' when your order, make damn sure you get your bacon...and eat some tasty burgers. read more
