Bacon cheeseburger, "little" Cajun fries (well done), and a regular fountain drink
Rob M.

It's been a couple years since I've had 5 Guys so I wanted to try it again. Their burgers are really, really good. Always made to order and have a great sear from the flat top. Most condiments are free to add-on but sides are a different story. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger with the smallest sized fries and drink they offer. Everything is a-la-carte so the order came to $16.33. The cost is definitely higher then most restaurants in the area even considering tips for a waiters service. The biggest disappointment was the French fries. Ordered a "little" Cajun fry (well done). Even ordering well done, the fries were soggy and many of them seemed undercooked. The seasoning was done very well and the portion size was very big. But even with ordering them well done, you won't get crispy fries. I will come back for a burger if I'm nearby but I wouldn't buy anything else

Five guys if generally a five star place for me. Great burgers, great hot dogs.. Amazing fries. Stopped here for lunch and after we ordered, I heard the cashier repeat what we needed to the guys in the back wrong.. Specifically the amount of patties..I tried explaining that to her.. She told me to check the receipt..I told her she rang it right, just shouted it out to the guys at the grill wrong and told her what she yelled and she just looked at me like a deer looking at head lights.. Ended up waiting 15 minutes longer than usual while hearing five orders after us get their stuff so it was obvious her mistake delayed our order. Other than the delay, great place.

I was lucky enough to be assigned to photograph the Five Guys grand opening for the newspaper I work for. Twist my arm why dontcha? My husband and I arrived around 6:30 and the line was almost to the door. Everyone wanted to check out opening day! The owners were sitting by the door and chatted with me while I took photos. Marc and Peter were very nice and really care about their customers. The line didn't take too long and we ordered a little cheeseburger for me, a bacon cheeseburger for my husband, and we shared a regular fry and soda. I took more pictures while my husband waited for our food, which took a while but not unreasonable for the crowd. We got a Coke Zero from their vast array of drinks, which included every kind of Coke imaginable, Pibb, Mello Yello, Sprite Zero, and others. I highly approve of having so many soda choices. They also offer free peanuts while you wait for your food. Where the fries are also fried in peanut oil, this is not a good place for anyone with a peanut allergy. My "little" cheeseburger was plenty big. In Five Guys speak, it's just a single patty burger. My husband's was the regular two-patty size. They were juicy and delicious and far superior to other fast food places. The fries were natural cut and perfectly salted. A "regular" fry is decently sized, and they dump another scoop in the bag on top of them. Even sharing, my husband and I were stuffed. A large fry would feed 4 people. All in all this was a great dinner. It's simple, tasty, and filling. We hold their burgers on par with Fuddruckers, which we love, and Five Guys is cheaper. There aren't as many choices but it makes for a simple decision.

Proof that I was ignored.

The interior is nicely decorated, and for a smaller (than most) restaurant on a busy Friday night, we got our food and drinks pretty quickly. I ordered the Caesar salad with steak - I ordered medium well but got it well done, but the added my cooked onions to the meal and I was content. My mom and aunt ordered the short rib and they enjoyed their dishes. This is a cute place to catch up with friends, go on a date, or bring the little ones. Happy this is in the area!

There are plenty of options for food, beer, wine, and cocktails, which makes it easy for groups. Service was exceptional on both visits. Friendly, attentive, and well paced without feeling rushed. That stood out and made both meals more enjoyable. Inside, the setup is comfortable and casual with a lively but manageable atmosphere. It is a good place for a meal or just drinks. The Stones is located right in downtown Stoneham and has easy off street parking, which is a plus. On my visits, I had the cheeseburger flatbread once and a steak the other time. Both were good. When I have been in others ordered the salmon, cheeseburger, and Cobb salad, and everything looked solid. No complaints from anyone. Overall, this is a reliable and easy place to come back to. Good food, strong service, and a setting that works for a range of occasions. I would come back anytime.

Vast. Like, "do-I-need-a-compass-to-navigate-this" vast, with plenty of options. It's always amusing to me how different parts of the U.S. have their own regional food quirks (like here in MA, where steak tips, roast beef sandwiches, and open-faced turkey sammies reign supreme). I was stuck between a couple of local specialties, but our delightful waitress, Haley, steered me in the direction of the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich, mentioning they roast a turkey every day (cue angels singing). I swapped out the fries for onion rings, because, duh! This sandwich? It could have fed a small village. It was a beast. A delicious beast, but an unwieldy one. I ended up abandoning the bread for the good stuff and tackled it with a knife and fork. All in all? Absolutely scrumptious. Bonus points for the bathrooms, which were clean as a whistle, and fear not! If you're afraid of missing the a Celtics 3 pointer or a Red Sox baseball toppling over the "green monstah" while nature calls, there's a giant screen perfectly viewable from the toilet. Yes, you can literally watch the game while you pee. Talk about a win-win situation!

Exactly what we were looking for. Great bar, great service, and the food was top notch.read more

Rising Eagle is different as you do your own ordering yourself by your phone via QR code. You do all the work and the food comes out eventually. It's a fine option but it's hard when you have allergies and have questions. I had a question over the special of the day if it was GF and I got the waiter to check, it wasn't and he recommended a food item that could be GF- it ended up not being GF. So having wait staff knowing the menus could be important. Not many options or sides for gluten free so I had a grilled sandwich and a side of beans, expensive and tiny chicken on the sandwich (the chicken was about 3/4 of the GF bun). Disappointing but it tasted good. For having us order ourselves, the order came out wrong -wasn't read correctly. Was whatever, wasn't going to flag down someone for it. Still had a nice time, it will probably be awhile before I come back again even living 4 min away. It is super cute inside thought, would be best for cocktails!

This tiny place known for their namesake mini patty melts on homemade brioche has gotten bigger and…read moreexpanded the menu. But the beef is still the reason I come. Butter is collateral (and arterial) damage. -- Snappy Pattys: Thin patties of beef get griddled and placed between slices of bread no thicker than your finger and no wider than a KFC biscuit. You'll taste the condiment configuration of choice (I like the Texan for its zippy bacon-laced melted cheese), but you'll taste butter first and foremost, which can be daunting. The surfaces of the bread don't get much browning and the beef was less beefy and less seasoned than I remember from a few years back. Although these never blow me away, they're a nice little novelty that's always worth a taste. -- Patty Melt: The full size format offers a third of a pound of beef (looked thicker) between larger slices of the same type of bread. Not much outer texture or browning, but the interior was moist. Minimal beef flavor, with butter again on overdrive-- much too much of it-- but this time mitigated by the complementary flavors (according to the menu, roasted chili & bacon sauce, tomato, iceberg, blue cheese & avocado aioli). Still enjoyable, though the lack of browning (on bread and beef) and the veering of the ingredients from traditional (no caramelized onion, no rye) kept it from scratching that patty melt itch. Nice place, and I've enjoyed previous visits. And the fried chicken as well as the namesake mini melts. But the quest for the elusive killer patty melt continues.
