Five Guys is usually pretty consistent but maybe that's my Canadian experience. I haven't tried it since moving to the States until now. It wasn't bad, I think it's pretty similar. However, I ordered online and my food was not ready (I waited about ten minutes) even though it wasn't too busy inside. Unfortunately, I also found a piece of hair on one of the burgers so had to toss that out. I was not in the area anymore and wasn't really able to come back to let them know. I haven't had Five Guys burgers for SO LONG, even though we lived pretty close to one in our last place. But, my husband saw there was a BOGO so we got our burgers. They were great! The fries still overflowed, the quality of the meat was great, AND I really loved the combo of mushrooms and A1 sauce on mine. A few weeks go by, and the BOGO is BACK. And so, we are also back, but this time we eat in-store. The service was EXCELLENT. The gentlemen working here were killing the lunch rush, they were checking in on everyone - absolute banger of an experience. I'll say this about Five Guys: the burgers are of high quality, and the fries are always good. No matter what size fries you order, you'll always get a generous portion, especially towards the bottom of the bag. The burgers are consistently well-cooked, with melted cheese on top, and the food is very filling. The service was good as well; everyone was very nice, and they announced your number loudly and clearly. They also checked whether you were picking up or placing an order. As for the atmosphere, there wasn't much to speak of. It was midday, so it was relatively quiet, with mostly just the workers talking to each other. My biggest complaint about Five Guys is the price; their burgers can be quite expensive. My total for a meal came to nearly $28. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking it out. Five Guys is good. The workers are nice. Food is always fresh & hot, so that's a plus. I love that you can have peanuts here (although if someone has a peanut allergy, this is cautionary) and it's a nice burger joint all around. The burgers are good, but not great, in my opinion. It's all based on preferences and I have never had a burger here where I wanted to come back soon because I was craving it again. It may look pricey for burger and fries but totally worth it! Today we ordered big and little bacon cheeseburgers, fries and soda. Today's potatoes were from Idaho, the best! Their little burger has 1 patty, big has 2. They are big patties. Try malt vinegar with your fries. And don't forget to grab some of their peanuts by the counter. Delicious! Parking for this location is extremely challenging. In general, the plaza is a popular location for entertainment and food, so it stays crowded. Five Guys has some of the best fresh cut fries, which is my primary reason for visiting them. I absolutely love how you get a little extra in the bag. I was a bit disappointed. This place was in the new center, and we were lucky to get a parking spot right in front. The place was completely empty when we walked in. Not really a good sign there. PROS: Communication. A sign lets you know where your potatoes come from. Staff. They were friendly and greeted us with a smile. Soda selection. Cleanliness. Free Toppings. They really pile it up high. CONS: Price. Holy crap!!! $31.18 for two bacon doubles, regular fry, and two regular sodas. Cajun Seasoning. Over powers the flavor of EVERYTHING! My mouth needed a fire department call. Final Thoughts. The atmosphere was pleasant. Looking around at all the smiling faces indulging in hamburger heaven hard to believe a rough estimate would easily be over a $1000 in sales. Visited this location at Streets of St Charles twice in the last week. The food was good, no complaints about that. Guy at the register was pleasant and friendly. My issue is with the time it took to get our food. There were 5 employees making food and we were seated where we could see the food preparation "process". And, boy, was it painful to watch. This one went hither, that one went yonder. Back and forth, round and round. Inefficiency was king. Why not put one or two on the grill and one or two on assembly? What could've taken 10 min tops was excruciatingly 20 minutes. If they are concerned about turnover (which directly affects their bottom line) and/or customer satisfaction, formulate an operating system with efficiency in mind. My 2 cents. read more

I was in the mood for a good, juicy hamburger and hadn't been here in a while. I got the bacon cheeseburger with lots of free add-ons. The burger was juicy, but should I say too juicy? There was oil/water everywhere, running down my hand, and a lot in the wrapper it came in. It was also messy and falling apart as the bun was soggy from all the liquid. Nobody likes soggy buns. :) I ordered the Cajun seasoned fries with the burger and they were WAY over salted. I had the salty seasoning caked on my hands when finished eating had to wash off in the restroom afterwards. Sadly, I've had better burger and fries meals at chain fast food restaurants that are much cheaper in price. I will probably not be back for a while longer. read more

If you've never been to 5 guys you're missing out. This location is clean and friendly. Food quality is great. No issues at all there. It's a pretty great cheeseburger but I have an issue with the prices and wait time. Yeah, yeah, I know... quality takes time and money but $12.50 (tax included) for an average sized double cheeseburger and small fries is very expensive. As I'm waiting 10 minutes for my food I'm always thinking, "what would $12.50 get me at McDonald's or Jack n the Box?" Umm, a lot! Anyways, my most recent visit came at this cool fairly new location in St Charles by the river that has a bunch of cool little shops and dining places. I got a cheeseburger (pickle, tomato, mushrooms & jalapenos) and a medium cajun fries w/ a drink. When I pulled the foil wrapped cheeseburger out of the paper bag, it was so big, it was more like a giant block or rectangle. When sitting right side up, literally was about the size of my face. This is a burger that cannot be eaten cleanly. Expect to use lots of napkins here, which they provide those kind you buy at the store and probably have at home yourself. Not the normal "restaurant' napkins or paper towels. Makes you feel like you are at your own backyard bbq, except I dont even pile my burgers that high. Then the fries. I watched the guy fill up a container of cajun fries and put it into my bag. ok cool, tha was a lot of fries. then he scooped another pile on top of that. The fries are delicious, the burger is massive and really tasty as well. Overall food was really good, only docking a star because it's a little pricey for a burger and fries meal. My son wanted Five Guys, swore it was the best burger and fries he had ever had. So we ordered some to go. I love that the south end of 5th Street has been renovated, the Streets of St.Charles is a great idea--it's the execution that is problematic. We went on a Friday night and could not find a place to park. I am not sure how far away we would have had to park if we had wanted to dine in. I stayed in the car, circling the parking lot while my son went in to pick up the food. It was very stressful with at least a half-dozen other cars doing the same thing. When he made it back to the car with the food he was frustrated as they forgot one of the burgers we ordered and then argued with him saying that he did not order said burgers. He pulled up his confirmation and showed that we did, in fact order 3 burgers. Then he waited over 10 minutes for the forgotten burger to be made. We are not above waiting for fresh food, but we should not have to argue with grouchy staff about it. If you make a mistake, own it, apologize and move on. So how was the food? Greasiest burger I have ever had. The bun was soaked in grease and meat juice and disintegrated as I tried to eat. My husband took a few bites and gave up, even my son who said that it had been the best burger he had ever had said it was not up to the same standards as others he had. The fries were soggy and mushy. I hope it was just a bad night and I am sure I will give 5 Guys one more shot but it has to get better than our experience this time. read more

Absolutely horrible management we experienced at this 5 Guys. Took a gift card purchased from 5 Guys here and they would not honor it. Called 5 Guys Corporate Office using number on gift card when at restaurant. They confirmed after reading them the code the card had $20 on it and good for use. Told this to manager when still eating at this 5 Guys and he still would not honor it . It was their gift card, their system that would not read it, but somehow our problem. Horrible store and poorly run, let this place fail! After calling corporate office again, they offered to refund meal. Manager was rude once again. I will never go to this 5 Guys again. read more

I have been to burger places across the country and Five Guys Burger and Fries is SO SO good. I was really thankful when they opened this location and I have actually visited it about 5 times so far. Even though it ends up being an expensive lunch the quality, service, and taste really work out. The staff is always cleaning and when they do they are quick to offer you help on the dining area. I have never had to wait in line for more than 5 minutes and never feel rushed to leave. The menu is really simple (which I love) it is not hard to figure out what I want or what I want on it. Thanks to sites like Yelp, I am able to learn about establishments before I even step foot inside. Since I had never been to Five Guys before, I checked Yelp to read people's opinions. I read the reviews for a few different locations, and the reaction was mixed. So, the only way to truly know is to go there myself! I have to say that I was craving a meal at Five Guys, and that I had high expectations, despite reading that some customers weren't completely satisfied. My bubble was burst before I even got my food. Luckily, when I visited yesterday, it was after the lunch rush and they were not busy, so I was able to walk right up to the counter and place my order. I'm a bit of a picky eater, so I got a "simple" meal -- grilled cheese, fries, and a soda. I was horrified that my total was $9.85! $9.85! I can spend half of that for the exact same meal at other fast-food restaurants. So, I figured I was in for a real treat. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Did I mention they were *not* busy? I waited nearly 10 minutes for my food, and there was one, maybe two, customers whose orders were placed before mine. If they were busy, I would completely understand. But, they. were. not. Luckily, there were peanuts for me to munch on while waiting. Their peanuts are awesome, by the way! I didn't get too many so that I would not fill up before my meal. I regret that... So, I finally get my food. I was taken aback that it was served to me in a brown paper bag. No tray, just a paper bag with grease seeping through. I'm not complaining about this (really!)...it just wasn't what I expected. I take my grease-laden bag back to my table. All I see are fries...for a split second, I thought they forgot my grilled cheese. But, alas, it was hidden at the very bottom of the bag under the mountain of fries. I like that my grilled cheese was wrapped in aluminum foil, as this kept it hot. However, I was very disappointed in the size...it was small...I expected it to be bigger...after all, it cost me $3.99! I really liked the texture (texture is a biggie with me). The taste was different...by no means horrible...just different. Aside from the size and price, I was satisfied - not "highly satisfied" as asked on restaurant surveys - just "satisfied." With my sandwich eaten, it was time to move on to the fries...the big 'ole mountain of fries. Not a fan at all. I love fries that are crispy on the outside...I can assure you, these are not. These fries are WAY too soft/soggy for me. If you like fries this way, you have hit a home run! For me...BIG swing and a miss. I ate a few, and they didn't get any better. I brought them home, thinking some time in the oven would help. It didn't. I'll add, too, that their soda machine is one of the Coca-Cola "Freestyle" kiosks. So, you have some autonomy in your beverage. I've read complaints that with the "Freestyle," all the soda comes from the same nozzle. I've never encountered "nasty" or "wrong" tastes with soda from the "Freestyle." Just thought I'd add that. Bottom line...while I was extremely disappointed in this visit, I will not write off Five Guys completely. When I go, I think I will get two grilled cheeses, and forget the fries altogether. I'll get more peanuts, too...they are AWESOME! I just expected more from Five Guys...especially for the high price I paid. They should re-evaluate the prices and/or sizes of some of their offerings. read more

Nothing beats Five Guys it's pricey for a burger but it's definitely well worth it. I didn't get fries this time but when I do they always hook it up. Cajun fries are my favorite if you're down for a little kick. Service is amazing they are always friendly and kind. I will say that if you don't have time to wait a little Five Guys may not be for you however, they do have free peanuts to compensate for your wait. I was looking for something different for lunch today and decided to try Five Guys. Its a chain so I knew what to expect, but this location is pretty delicious and fresh. The little cheeseburger still seems BIG to me. so you get a lot of bang for your buck. I do think almost 10 bucks for a cheeseburger and fries is a bit much, not including soda even! its not a restaurant. its a casual burger joint. so if you are ok spending a little more, its delicious of course. they do charge tourist tax which I found a bit odd.
