I'm driving again for work; this time to San Antonio. Headed down 281 thinking about my lunch choices. Dropped off material on the west side near La Cantera and headed back towards my return corridor searching for food. Sure, I could have chose a hometown favorite like Jim's around Blanco Road. Thanks to construction there isn't food option road signs or is that just on interstates? I took the exit before the mile high flyover and started scanning. No luck on the south side and about a quarter mile on the north side. No KFC and Whataburger. Passed an old GF's fave Brick House Tavern. Strip mall find Five Guys. In retrospect I wish I would have seen the Tarka sign ahead! Greeted immediately upon entry, I surveyed the choices and made my order. Regular cheeseburger with tomato, onion, pickle, and light mayo. Fries too, but what the heck? Almost $5 for fries? We're they blessed by The Pope? That's $10 for the cheeseburger too with unlimited toppings. It's like they have the notion to go ahead and charge you for ALL the condiments just in case. Grabbed my drink and surveyed the damage at basically $20 with tip. The verdict was good burger and fries. Yet, too costly. Just did a mock Whataburger order for the same meal...$9.24. You know my endless..OK I was gonna make a Cliff Clavin reference but nobody will know who that was. Cheers! Think this Yelp diners; you could eat the Texas Monthly 2009 magazine cover burger over at Alamo Springs in Fredericksburg the the same dollars. Bigger patty, green chili, cheddar jalepeno bun. That's NOW NOW NOW! Choose your meals wisely.

Burgers are a Texas staple. Unfortunately, Five Guys misses the mark of savory goodness that we expect in beef. On top of that, the pricing is crazy. As of May 2023 the bacon cheeseburger costs just over $12. The smallest fry costs over $5. Yes, over $5 for a "Tiny Fry". That means you should expect almost $20 for a burger and fry. The taste and size of the burgers here are worth half that. Maybe. I'd comment further on the taste if it was memorable. Five Guys has quotes and awards from all across the country hung up on the walls. These are great to help you remember where not to trust the burger recommendations. Thankfully the service is great, the parking is easy, and everything inside is super clean. It's a fine eating experience all around, but for $20 you could do so much better and get so much more at other burger chains or local joints. I hadn't visited Five Guys in a decade because it didn't do anything for me back then. I'll try again in another one and update this review. Right now they're not worth the price.

Ordered delivery and the garbage they sent was beyond horrible! I am wiling to bet the employees advise their own family to dine elsewhere instead of eating this garbage! Is there a manager who checks the quality of product here? That was a joke! There is obviously no one who cares about quality here! Go to McDonalds! It is less expensive, consistent, and their management pays attention. This place sucks!

We placed our order 32 minutes ago. It's now 8:03. They made everyone's order that came after us, first. And made all of their DoorDash orders first. When we asked politely about how much longer we received major attitude from one guy. We didn't catch his name, but Christian took our order and did nothing to help the situation. Me and my husband have both been in service industry and I could never imagine speaking to a customer like that. We are moving today. We have a rental truck that has to be back by 10pm and we still have to make a run. Today is stressful enough, We didn't have time for an over 30 minute detour bc the workers decided that we were the ones they wanted to pick on. A lady who got there after us went to grab her order and we asked what time she put her order in. She said she put it in online at 7:35, meaning she put it in after us. When my husband spoke up about it, the guy basically yelled at us that it was an online order so it had priority. After this, we left. I was afraid they would spit in the food. Is five guys going to pay for our late fee on the truck? Probably not. Anyways? Seems like a common theme with this place so just be prepared if you choose to go there.

Good burger good fries, friendly staff. I don't know if a burger with fries and a drink is worth 20 bucks but that's what it wound up costing me by the time I was done.

Stopped for a quick lunch. The staff welcomed everyone that walked in. I just felt like the place seemed dirty. The tables needed to be wiped down and floors cleaned. I ordered a little bacon cheeseburger with a little Cajun fry. The burger wasn't bad. Will I go back to eat there, probably not. I will say the one thing that I loved about them is I asked for jalapeños on the burger and they were FRESH. This I liked.

Stopped by for a late dinner one night. We were greeted as soon as we came in. The place was not busy at all (it was rather late). We ordered 2 bacon cheeseburger without the buns and our order came out exactly as we had ordered it. It was a bit messy but it was delicious. A bacon cheeseburger is a bit overpriced but it was worth it, that we decided to come the following day for the same. We were greeted when we walked in and had no problems with our order. A great place to get a bite to eat and not to cheat when trying to adhere to a keto diet.

The patty itself was good but they use cheap processed cheese on a $10 burger??? The fries were good but also over priced. The day we were there, the floors in front of the drink station were wet and sticky from a leaking machine. Overall, I would not recommend

I consider myself a Five Guys advocate. I've frequented locations in all of the cities I've lived in the last 5+ years (Baton Rouge, OKC, and San Antonio). Five Guys is not your typical fast food restaurant, which you will note from their prices. I will state that it is worth every penny. What sets the restaurant apart is the ingredients and customizable topping options. I usually get the Little Bacon Cheese Burger (one patty) with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, mayo, and hot sauce. I literally salivate even thinking about it. And the Cajun fries are a must. As a certified born and bred Cajun, the fries get my unwavering seal of approval. No ketchup necessary. On a recent visit, we arrived about 9 pm. The man at register was beyond courteous. The other woman working appeared to be on break so he was manning the kitchen (all open) as well as register alone. He noted between the previous Customer and us ordering that he would be right back as he needed to put the prior customers patties on grill. It wasn't very long, but he was both transparent and customer focused. In a few minutes, our food was ready and did not disappoint. Five Guys always hits spot without making you feel yuck or bloated. Their burgers are just the right size for a dinner and fries are definitely splittable.

It's been a few years since I've been by; so, I was truly looking forward to getting something. I chose The Brat & tots (plain). I was very happy with my choice. The gentleman greeted me immediately. I thought it would take me a minute, but, as I stated, I chose The Brat immediately. I'm a little high strung from my age, so people kinda chuckle. It's cute. I make me smile. They put the perfect amount of mustard on it too! See the photos, but it comes covered with cabbage & crispy fried onions. It is amazing. I was able to get a whole 1/3 of it eaten before my body shut down. Tot wise, they were hot & perfectly fried! I like to dip mine in ketchup, but they offer you various other dips as well. So, I got ranch cuz, um, of course. Also, I really like their soda brand. I can't remember it, but it's a dia de los muertos skull for the logo, but I love their roots beer, which was my beverage of choice today. My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

Bacon wrapped with a multitude of options for toppings, paired with a toasted bun, we literally sacrificed our keto diet on these. 100% recommend. We had two of the bacon wrapped with ketchup and mustard, and shared an everything (ketchup, mustard, mayo, and jalapeños). FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

The first issue was using the InKind app. We spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to use it because ordering ahead wasn't working, and none of the employees seemed familiar with the process. One employee was patient, friendly, and genuinely tried to help us figure it out, which I appreciated. After finally placing our order, we were told it would take about 15 minutes. Instead, we waited roughly 40 minutes, and didn't receive our food until 11:00 p.m., right at closing. I understand we came during the last hour before closing, which is why I specifically asked if we had enough time. If the kitchen was backed up or our order was going to take 40+ minutes that late in the evening, I would have completely understood. I just wish we had been told that up front instead of being quoted 15 minutes. By the time we received our food, it was closing time. Thankfully we ordered it to go, because if we'd planned to eat there, we wouldn't have had the opportunity. When our food was finally ready, the bag was already ripping because something inside had leaked. The employee noticed right away, grabbed two new bags, and repacked everything, which I appreciated. We ordered quite a bit to sample the menu: the Cali Chick (lettuce wrapped), Hot Chick, Buff Chick, Little Mule, Totchos, onion strings, sweet potato fries, and a Teriyaki Chicken Caesar Wrap (which we haven't tried yet, so I can't comment on that one). Unfortunately, the food we did eat was very disappointing. The lettuce-wrapped Cali Chick was a mess--the lettuce was so wilted it couldn't even function as a wrap. The onion strings, Totchos, and sweet potato fries had all lost their crispness by the time we got them, and everything was lukewarm or cold. The Little Mule ended up being our favorite burger, while the Hot Chick definitely delivered on the spice. Ironically, the sweet potato fries were my favorite side, even though they came in the smallest portion. Our total was over $100 before the InKind discount, and I honestly wouldn't pay full price for this meal. The quality just didn't match the price. I don't know if the kitchen was short-staffed or if something else was going on that night, but waiting 40 minutes after being quoted 15 minutes--especially with almost no one else ordering--only to receive cold, soggy food was incredibly disappointing. I do want to give credit to the employee who helped us. He was polite, apologized several times for the delay, and even repacked our order when he noticed the leaking bag. Unfortunately, the overall experience and food quality just didn't live up to the price. Based on this visit, I couldn't justify spending over $100 for the experience we received. I hope this was just an off night, but it was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved a 2-star review.
