This is a place with a limited menu. Besides hamburgers, hot dogs, and a token veggie burger, there's not much to choose from. But if you like sloppy, drippy, juicy fast food burgers that require a bit of finesse to keep inside the bun, this is the place. All burgers are made fresh when you order them, and include a wide array of topping choices from ketchup, tomato, and pickles, right up to grilled onions or grilled mushrooms. The red-and-white decor, the fries-made-from-fresh-potatoes, and the "We'll do it any way you want it" approach to assembling burgers will remind some of Southern California's In-N-Out burger chain, but this is not that burger. I'd say it's at least as good (no, to be honest I'd say it's way better) but this may be a matter of style preference. In-N-Out uses a much thinner patty cut and cooks all their burgers right the way through, which means a drier burger. Five Guys burgers are just way messier. Which is how I like 'em. The french fry orders are seriously huge. We usually split a smaller order between two people and still have fries left over. The Renton Five Guys location is on the small side, and situated right next to the movie theater at The Landing, so if you go on a Friday night, expect to stand in a long line and possibly have to queue for a table once your order is in. I really like Five Guys, mostly because all the toppings are free! You pay for the burger (you can choose from two sizes- regular and little), and then you can get all the toppings/sauces that you want. The little size is the perfect size--actually it was too big for me and I couldn't even finish! The fries are delicious! We ordered the smaller size, and they not only fill up the cup, but they put a ton of extra fries in the bag. It was more than enough for two. I think they call this place Five Guys Burgers cuz that's how much you are going to weigh if you eat here too much. Their "regular" bacon cheese burger is something like 940 calories. A regular is composed of two patties. The other option is "mini" with only one patty. When you order you also get your pick of complementary condiments. What I liked is that list included grilled onions and mushrooms. For a chain, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The burger was juicy and full of flavor. It definitely hit the spot for some ground beef between buns. I just wish that this chain used a higher quality bun. While the burgers sizes are regular and mini, the fries are regular and large. You'd think their marketing people would shoot for some consistency, but whatevs. The fries are fresh -- they write up where the potatoes come from on the wall. Of course given their volume of an entire chain, it stands to reason that they'd need to source their legumes from various locations. Anyhoo, got the cajun fries. They definitely don't go light on the spices/flavoring which I liked. The potatoes are fried so that they are still pretty floppy and tender. Again, definitely hitting the spot. If you have a peanut allergy you should just avoid this place. They have salted peanuts that are complementary as well. I'm not sure if I liked it or not. It just wasn't particularly great or bad. Just another thing that they have. Perhaps it makes this spot more memorable? Overall, I thought for a chain they do a good burger. The complementary selection of condiments is a nice change. I went here on a lazy Friday afternoon with tempered expectations. While there was no wait to order, 95% of the tables were occupied. I ordered a regular burger (two patties), regular drink, and split a regular order of cajun fries. Total cost: $9. It took about 10 minutes to get our food. The burger was decent, constructed with a semi-substantial bun with slightly charred patties, roughly four inches in diameter. This reminded me of a backyard grill burger that was cooked a bit too long. I ordered it without mayo, replaced with A1 and hot sauce, along with all the other veg. The meat was tasty and worked well with the sauces and toppings. I suggest people eat the burgers 'burrito-style' (unfolding the foil along the way) to reduce the inevitable mess. Sidebar: Mayo is mostly flavorless and usually reserved for lubricating overly dry pieces of food... so omit the mayo from your order and it will undoubtedly solve the mushy fall-apart issues people note on here. The fries, cajun style, were awesome. A tad too salty for me, but still tasty with the proper oily/crispy ratio. Thumbs up on the portion size too. I split the regular order with another person, as advised from the cashier, and it was just the right amount. And while I have no issue with them dumping the fries in the bag on top of the burgers (gangsta-style), why do they include a styrofoam cup? Is this how they measure out the fries? In summary, In-N-Out's cuisine still reigns supreme because of their prices and taste (although I think I'd prefer the cajun fries). It had been a while since I had been to a Five Guys and my first time to this location. The chain has been growing rapidly and I popped in to grab a quick bite before a movie. The prices are a bit high but the burger was definitely worth it. The fries are one you order to share (they give you one cup then another scoop as well). The Landing location is closer to where I live and there are many surrounding businesses so it's a good spot to grab food. I always order the Little Bacon Cheeseburger with mayo, grilled onions, ketchup, and grilled mushrooms. There are a lot of options for toppings and it doesn't cost any extra for them! The burger is pretty messy to eat but still very delicious! They put A LOT of fries in your cup as well as some in your to go bag no matter what size you get so that's a huge plus for me. I always feel bad when I can't finish it though. I'm not a huge fan of peanuts but I like how you can grab a small complimentary basket of them while you wait for your order. I know there are other food options on the menu like grilled cheese and hot dogs but I have yet to try them. Sometimes it can get busy but usually when I go it isn't, probably because I don't go on busy weekends or peak traffic hours after work. There's usually a good number of places to sit. Again, I was being starved to death while hanging out with friends and the temptation of burgers rang from Uhura's lips. Why does it take my people three hours to get food from the initial starvation salvation request? I swear one day the hunger monster inside me is going to rage and cut someone. Keep me fed! Opened up the burger and realized that the act of eating said burger would probably be the most un-sexy thing I could do in my life. To paint a picture of what it was like trying to eat my soggy mess, I will say that it really felt like I was at an Ethiopian restaurant. I was picking up meat, lettuce and all the fixings every ten seconds b/c the stuff was falling out everywhere. Not to mention the multiple greasy rivers of burger juice streaming down my arm. Summary: A damn fine burger for a fair price. Being fans of Red Mill burgers in Seattle, we had ignored the opening of Five Guys Burgers in Renton, dismissing it as just another suburb burger joint. However, a friend of ours persisted in recommending we make the drive to the new Renton shopping-thing (formerly a Boeing parking lot), and try out Five Guys. Well, last night, we did. Before you get any further, our GPS got totally lost. Seems that even the latest Garmin map thinks this place is about a mile south of where it actually is. To get here, go like you're going to Fry's (you do know where Fry's is, right?), head west past the Target, cross another street, and it's just to the right of the big theater entrance. The menu is pretty simple: burgers (small, single, double), fries (small and large), and drinks (soft drinks or water). You then select your options, including burger customization (bacon, onions, mayo, ketchup, mushrooms, cheese, pickles, etc.), and cajun or normal fries. There are no malts or shakes. You place your order, pay and get a number, grab your food, then sit at one of the frequently cleaned tables. During our 30 or so minutes in Five Guys, we saw the cleaning guy regularly working the room, making sure it's clean - nice. As an earlier poster alluded to, there is some sort of bizarre peanut warning on the door, on the peanuts, etc. Apparently, peanut allergies trump my agoraphobia - otherwise, absolutely everything would be enclosed...and I would be happy (kidding). The burger itself was really good. Fresh. Hot. Juicy. Delicious. I really enjoyed it. Same goes for Blushing Bride, who consumed a small and gave it thumbs-up. The Cajun fries we ordered were also hot and fresh - just missing something that I can't identify. This was an overall good burger. For the amount that I paid to the amount that I got was great. I LOVED how they had grilled onions on the menu as a free topping. It would be cool if they opened up a little more, people raved about how it's like the "Subway" of burgers, how you get to choose your own toppings, but their topping menu is fairly little and doesn't offer anything too exotic. They're fairly normal things like mayo, mustard, ketcup, lettuce, tomato, but then they get a little further out there with grilled onions, grilled mushroom and japalenos (which is to the extent of their exoticism). My biggest problem with the burger itself was its bun, they used just a regular cheap bun, so all the juices from my grilled onions made it VERY soggy. But the meat was juicy, and their use of fake cheese was rather enjoyable :) almost felt like 3 levels above mcdonalds i would recommend getting the cajon fries REGULAR size, the amount of fries they give you are a little insane, delicious nonetheless. Great place to grab a burger located in Renton at the newly develop strip mall called The Landing, well its a few years old now but still... Setting is kind of different than most burger joints and not talking about McD's or Burger King. I'm talking more along the lines of Burgermaster. The place is pretty small good for small group of 4. I've been here a few times but really haven't found time to get on here to write a review about it. Burger is very juicy and flavorful and they have a great choice of toppings and like some have said, it's free. This place is always packed during lunch time and sometimes during late night. You get free peanuts while waiting in line to order. Just make sure when ordering that you come with one other person so they can grab a table, set down their stuff and join you in line. Their french fries are hand cut with FRESHLY CUT LOCAL POTATOES and not like the ones from the fast food restaurants. If their's not seats available you can always take it to-go and enjoy it in your car or walking around and discover The Landing a little bit. =) The downside to this is that during lunch time the wait can be about 10 minutes or so, but it's well worth the wait. So if you're an inpatient person try stopping by once the open or after lunch, say about 3pm. Definately a FAN! read more

A small order is more than enough for 2 people. I went with a group of about 10 and we ended up with enough leftover fries to fill a large brown bag halfway. I must say that I have been hesitating going to this "Burger Joint" because I had not heard of this place, so when they opened their doors I waited a few weeks to try it out. You know, let them get the bugs worked out and the staff fully trained. I was surprised when I walked in to find a small dining area filled with inexpensive tables and chairs. I was shocked at this because I usually get an up sell when I go to restaurants of any type, even McD's. Onto the Review of the Food: I ordered the regular cheese burger with bacon. I really liked the fact that I could get any one of the toppings or all of the toppings for the burger at no extra cost, so I got mine made with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, & Mushrooms!!! Where my Wife ordered a simple regular cheese burger with mayo and mustard!! Either way they were both extremely good. My wife asked if I thought it was better then Dicks! I thought about it for a second and responded with "They are both good in there own right. Dicks is a great place for late night burger and fries for a little amount of money. Whereas Five Guys is a special treat kind of place to go once in a while." These burgers are prepared quickly and efficiently. I no more got to the table and started eating some peanuts when they called out our number. I immediately dove into the awesome smelling goodness set before me. The tomatoes were still chilled and tasted great, the lettuce was crisp, but not over powering, the mushrooms added that little extra taste to the burger. The bacon was perfectly cooked and crispy & full flavor. I'm not sure how long a previous yelper waited to eat his burger, but my bun was in perfect shape. It was not soggy nor did it fall apart. As for the peanut thing, there are signs all over the windows letting you know that they use peanuts and peanut oil. If you miss those then there are stacks of PEANUT oil in the entry way. You have to look at them to know which way to go to order your food. The fries were like I made them myself. This is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. My personal preference is to have them salted right as they come out of the oil. Then I like to dip them in some ranch or something other then ketchup. I know this is juvenile; however, it is how I like my fries. This will not stop me from going back. The food to dollar ratio is in favor of the food. If you want to spend less then go to McD's or the King, but you get what you pay for there. Here you will always get more then what you pay for. You can get the same thing over and over again or you can get something completely different every time you go. There are infinite possible combinations. In closing; Five guys is like a great tattoo or fine piece of art, the more it costs the better it is. They have reasonable prices and great people who work there. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Five Guys Burgers from my friends in the DC area. I had hoped to try them when I was out there recently, but alas! it was not to be. I was quite surprised when I stumbled upon this new location in Renton. First impressions: very clean, well run, efficient operation, friendly staff. Food smelled great. Like the concept, fresh, not frozen beef. Love the unshelled peanuts free for the snacking. . Although I welcomed seeing the estimated calorie count on the menu board, it was a little dismaying to see how calorie-loaded some of the selections are. Maybe ignorance is really bliss, at least when it comes to burgers :-) I had only one item, a burger. I confess the hype I'd been hearing led me to expect I would rapturously exclaim "Oh My God!" after tasting one of these beauties. Sadly, that didn't happen, but the burger was very, very good. Other observations: the place was a-buzz with the energy level typical for a just opened place, and I was amazed at the number of staff working. There were two people who would come through every few minutes to clean tables and sweep the floors. Place was very clean. I will definitely be back, this time with the family in tow. read more

Can I just say, YUMMY! The girl at the counter was kind enough to tell us that the burgers were very large (two patties) so ordering the small burger was going to be plenty! She was right, it was quite big enough. I had a cheeseburger and fries. The fries are cooked in peanut oil which gives them a really good flavor. I'm not much of a fry person these days but the fries at Five Guys are totally worth eating! Beware that the portions are HUGE!! I ordered the smaller size of fries and it was enough for at least two people! They fill the cups and then pour in a whole bunch more! The atmosphere is casual, the staff is super friendly and the prices are perfect for a burger joint! I can honestly say I can only go back if I've been good with my eating for a while and want to splurge but its definitely worth it and I'd"d recommend it to anyone who hasn't been there before! read more

You should always be suspicious when a restaurant covers its walls with the accolades it has received from reviewers. You should also be suspicious when they don't make shakes. I should have just walked out. That being said, the burgers were okay. When i unwrapped mine, it looked like someone had mushed down the buns on purpose. The taste was okay. Nothing amazing. The fries were good and I do have to say that they were extremely generous for the size. Not sure i would go back. read more

I thought I had reviewed Five Guys, too. Well, there's nothing difficult about this decision. No need to get fancy or wordy. It's quite simple. The burgers and french fries at Five Guys are coma-inducing. The first bite will leave you speechless. Your mouth will beg for more and start to salivate. If you start to drool a little bit, that's okay, it's expected. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and almost fainted after my first taste of their bacon. It's as if they discovered a way to infuse essence of bacon into bacon and then soaked it in brown sugar. Then I ventured into my small cup of fries, which quickly turned into a bucket'o'fries, obviously a trick of the mind....or stomach. They were equally as delicious as the cheeseburger. In fact, I'm fairly certain they were the best fries I have ever had. I don't quite understand the complexities of french fry making, but whatever Five Guys is doing with their potatoes it has ceased to be scientific and is now biblical. If you're not a religious person, you will leave Five Guys thanking God. read more
