I absolutely love this place. If I could eat beef all the time I would so be in here everyday mixingband matching different combinations of burger! The prices are what they usually are. I will say the food is always worth it. I never leave this place with a frown. When I have a bad day this place will always lift my spirits. Big burger and a shake is all you need to drown that evil monster of anger. The people are always sooo friendly and patient. They always take their time and make everything to perfection. Beyond Rude and Ignorant. I called with an order that was a re order and gave them my information. I also let them know that I wasn't sure of the exact date that they messed up the previous order and was put on hold for what I assumed to find the credit and when they came back I was told Abruptly that I had 2 weeks not a month to re order. I began to reply and was laughed at and hung up on. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what the problem is at this particular Five Guys. Hopefully someone reads this that can do something to help turn around that staff to prevent this from happening again. read more

The burgers here are the best "fast food" burgers I've ever tasted. These guys use fresh beef, never frozen. There isn't even a freezer on the premises. Your burgers are made after you order, and they are always juicy and delicious. The fries put all competitors to shame. They are made to order from bags of fresh potatoes that sit waiting in the middle of the dining room. One order of fries is plenty for two people to share. Highly recommended. read more

The food obviously gets 6 stars out of 5. But the service? I have had too many encounters where I would submit an online order, show up on time and it's still not ready. So today I decided to step up my game and submit the order, and show up a tiny bit after the time it should have been ready. I showed up 5-6 minutes late and I STILL had to wait for about 10-15 minutes. Not only is the waiting inconvenient, nobody seems to care. Not once was I ever thanked or apologized to. Before, I would give this place more stars. We like their food. They were previously courteous and we had gone there a lot. Recently, they have been hired in New people, and they sit on their phones behind the counter and do not care if you see what they're doing. It's pretty sad when you come in for an online order and it hasn't even been started because they forgot, and then after they realize, they're still not hurrying to do it because some girl's phone is more interesting. The food here is amazing. More importantly, however, the customer service at this location is exceptional. After eating I ordered a shake for my daughter to go. After waiting approximately 15 minutes it became clear to me that the order had fallen through the cracks. They were very busy this particular day. I approached the counter and politely asked when the shake would be ready. When the staff person realized we had been waiting that long she not only insisted on giving me a refund (I did not ask for this) but gave me a Five Guys gift card as well. People are human. Mistakes are made. But in the food industry, how you deal with mistakes is of the utmost importance. The Five Guys on US Hwy 6 in Portage get 5 stars for how they handled my situation. This was my 1st time and proably my last time to the Five Guys restaurant in Portage, IN. The cost was quite expensive compared to other such restauants in the area. I was surprised that the person that took our order did not know what a Chicago dog was and I had to tell her what is supposed to go on it. The beverage dispenser gave the user a message that diet Coke was unavailable. My daughter had the small bacon cheeseburger which cost $5.79. She said it was good, but tasted just like one from another restaurant that you can get in a $4.00 combo which includes 2 other items and a drink. She also had a chocolate shake which she said was good, but was only about 2/3 the size of ones at other restaurants. We also split a large order of fries which were very good and more than we could eat. Overall it was O.K., but not worth the cost. read more

They have the best burgers, always fresh with premium toppings. We love eating at all of the local 5 Guys and were super excited when one opened in Portage. Very recently we partnered with them to do a fundraiser for our daughter's cheer program, it was really easy and smooth to set up. We didn't have to do anything more than advertise and share the flyer and Facebook event they made for us and our contact checked in by email multiple times prior to our event. I really had an excellent dine in experience here. The GM running the place did a excellent job, he was very cordial, helpful, and caring of all of us that were in the restaurant. His enthusiasm that he displayed was very refreshing and Its very rare to find that especially in the fast food industry. It seems like a lot of fast food places want to rush you your food and get you out the door, but at the portage five guys the staff is very inviting and I felt welcome to stay as long as they would let me.
