Can you believe that I live in NYC my entire life and have never walked into a Five Guys before? So this was my very first time. I have to say the overall vibe of the place look more like a pizza joint than a burger joint. The menu is to the point: Burger, Hot Dogs, Fries and Milk Shakes. Simple enough. I opted for the BLT and the Bacon Cheese Dog. Because I had a long train ride home, I asked they put the toppings to the side. The cashier was friendly but the guy who made my food was incredibly rude. He didn't want to make my food. Honestly he needs to get a different job. I did find it unusual that they have a bouncer right by the pick up spot. Apparently there is a secret bar upstairs. - The Verdict on the food: I got the BLT for my brother who said the bacon was very dry. I got the Bacon Cheese Dog for my mom who loved it. Would I give Five Guys another chance? Sure! But definite not this spot. read more

Okay! So, honestly my burger here was incredibly dry. What redeems this location is the "secret" upstairs bar! You can bring your five guys order upstairs to the Garret and enjoy drinks and views of the west village. We enjoyed their cocktails and cozy atmosphere. This place's been packed friday night with young professionals. I'm surprised now hot dog is close to $8!! Price is up every single yr. I went to smashed burger - walking distance from here. cozy, clean and friendly. Bathroom set up. This location's bathroom is upstairs hidden bar. I didn't have negative experiences from cashier. it's quite cool to stop by. All Drinks are self services. you won't miss it. 7th ave/ Bleeker st. on Friday night you might stop by with your friends. There are a few tables for indoor dining and service was quick. 5 stars for service as we were pleasantly surprised when the cashier said "your large drinks are on me" for both of us!! I ordered food from Five Guys expecting a fast and easy service for takeout. Little did I know that my meal would be unsatisfactory especially for a company that sells such steep prices, and that we would have some of the worst takeout service I could've imagined. Our delivery was already late, a bad start, but forgivable considering I have had some good experiences with this company. The delivery driver gave us our food, which was meant to be some burgers, fries, a hot dog, and two milkshakes. I looked in the bag and they gave us everything except our two milkshakes. I asked the deliverer where the milkshakes were and he, and I quote said "I don't know-you didn't order any." Then I continued talking but he ignored me and drove off. I was already pissed off so I then called the Five Guys we were ordering from and the service told us "You didn't order any." Which we had because I checked our order information. Then I called another person, and they said "Sorry we can't help you with this." I called many more times with one of them being responded with "We don't want to deal with this right now". Then finally, I was given a refund. So thanks Five Guys, you owe me a milkshake. Your fries were pretty awful this time which I wasn't expecting. The hot dog was mid. The burger was actually repulsive. You charge us for garbage and then treat us like that, your corporate greed makes me want to puke, and most of the employees I've been experiencing are douchebags. Reviewing five guys is tough. They have one of the worst burgers on the market, bar none. Their fries are whatever. The hot dogs suck. But my God do they make the best damn chocolate shake I've ever had. I will keep showing up just for that gem. read more

Their single bathroom was dirty as all hell, but then again, it was Halloween night and the hordes from the Halloween parade were crowding inside to escape the downpour outside. Ignoring the toilet (easy for me), I was saddened by the shoddy construction of my meal, as the meat was dry (even by Five Guys standards) and I didn't see enough A-1 sauce that I wanted, if any. End up with a crummy meal at Five Guys? Good news: you're able to drown your sorrows at the Bleecker Heights Tavern right upstairs. No need to go outside! read more

I saw a video and five guys is known to give a big portion of fries so I deicides to try it out. I order a double bacon cheeseburger with pickles, lettuce, tomato, and mushroom with a large fries. The burger was juicy and delicious. They let you choose the amount of toppings for free. The fries portion wasn't as big as a expected. It's actually little for a large. Came here on a sunday night cuz i had a hankering for burgers. Compared to other Five Guys: Fries tasted great but weren't crispy. Kinda greasy limp fry variety. Burger wise, I bought the bacon cheeseburger. The toppings were excellent. Bacon was crunchy but crumbly. The patties themselves were THICK compared to other Five Guys. While the patties were juicy, it did lack that charred smoky taste. A NY classic franchise. 5 Guys is for us what In and Out Burger is to L.A. What I really love about 5 guys is how despite the fact that the initial price of the burger is on the expensive side, the toppings you get to put after that are all FREE!! Also they make really good burgers! I ordered just a regular cheeseburger and requested for grilled mushrooms and onions added. Even that simple order alone was enough to brighten up my mood for the rest of the day. I'm a basic guy, so give me a burger, some fries and a drink and I'm set. I also ordered the Cajun fries and a large fruit punch. The fries were a little too fried, not burnt, but definitely spent a few seconds longer on the fryer than I liked. I don't care what Chung says; I love Five Guys! They made their burgers fresh on demand and their ingredients are fresh; not the frozen patties. They also gave you unlimited supply of peanuts to chew on while you wait. Also their fries are hand cut and come in huge portion. Cajun fries are great. Price here is dirty cheap and burgers are mean and juicy. If you take out or have them delivered though, I could not guarantee if they still taste good. read more

Excellent. Good price, especially considering the amount of food you get for it. I got a cheeseburger with several toppings (ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeño, mushroom, think that was it). The burger was delicious and very filling, the jalapeño providing a satisfyingly spicy kick. By far the greatest thing about this burger joint is that the toppings are FREE. Free refills on soda, too. I also got an order of the regular size cajun style fries. They were okay -- nothing special, except for the portion size which is enormous. For regular? There's no reason to order a large size. The "cajun" spice is basically just a powder mix or something, and while tasty, it isn't extraordinary. However, due to the filling-ness of my burger, I'm happy to have had to bring some of my fries home, it'll be a good snack. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but the fact that there were so many people waiting seems a good sign to me. The kitchen is open, too, nobody was slacking off. Love the huge bags of potatoes sitting right out there in the restaurant, with the sign on them saying "today's potatoes are from [some town], ID." You get a sense of freshness and commitment there (goes along with the open kitchen thing) along with a feeling of playfulness. Great place. Definitely could taste at least 3 out of the 5 guys in my burger. :-P read more

First off, I wanna say it's been years since I've been to a Five Guys. I went once when it first opened back in my hometown in the Bay Area, but for some reason thought the burger was way overpriced. I thought paying ~$15 for a burger was ridiculous and I didn't go back after. However, my friends from Italy were visiting and of course wanted a cheeseburger so I decided to try Five Guys again, mainly because of convenience since it's so close to my apt. I ordered a cheeseburger and I didn't know that a "regular" cheeseburger has two patties in it! For $8 you get a cheeseburger with two patties and all the veggies you want in it from the menu for free! At first I was confused with the "mini" cheeseburger because I literally thought it was going to be a slider which was why I didn't order it. But I guess it's actually a cheeseburger with one patty. Great deal and the fries are 2.99. The fries were soggy when we went. But the burger was delicious and huge. I was so full for the rest of the day. Inside is kinda dirty, I saw someone sweeping the floor then stop to talk to someone and just leave the mess in the middle of the dining area. Free peanuts as everyone says and there's TONS to go around! Their soda machine is the kind where it's a touch screen and you push buttons to choose what kind of soda you want. My first experience with Five Guys (he he he...) was back in DC at the first and original location near Howard University, a buddy of mine and I would make lunch time runs over for their freakin' amazing burgers and the awesomeness known as their fries. Fast-forward 6 years later and now Five Guys is a franchised chain along the east coast of the United States and (hooray!) will soon be opening close to Montreal in Vaudreuil. I nearly squealed in happiness when I found out that the greatness of Five Guys was now going to be within striking distance of home. So on my usual pit-stop in Manhattan a few weeks back, craving the burger I missed the most, I stopped by the location in the West Village to see if A)my memory of their burgers was still correct and B) to see if the tastiness of the burgers may have been lost due to expansion and new franchises. I was not disappointed. Yeah, prices are a bit higher now, but the burgers are still amazing and tasty as hell. No wonder the Obamas make regular runs to Five Guys in DC, how can you not once you've tasted these beauties? I hope Five Guys takes over Canada and kills McDonald's and Burger King! read more

After all the hype, I thought this place was okay. Five Guys is one of those burger spots that isn't fast food, but also isn't really typical casual dining - it's a mix of the two. Just like In-N-Out in California, this spot offers burgers made to order rather than having them sit under a heat lamp to stay warm. Despite the made-to-order philosophy, the burgers are just okay - medium quality meat, but fairly well seasoned...the fries were okay too. I guess if you happen to be close by and want to have a burger then this will do the trick, but this not the kind of place I'd visit for an excellent burger. This time I got the mini-burger (which is not so mini) and the fries (which even at regular size are overwhelming). The fries were once again delicious, but the problem with the mini burger is that its proportions are all messed up. Instead of making everything smaller, they simply use less meat, which results in too much bun, lettuce, and everything else. I think every restaurant should offer free peanuts. Free peanuts should be a law. Ok so with that out of the way lets do the rest of the review. I love that they offer unlimited free toppings. You can really get kinda crazy but Im a lil dull and just go Grilled Mushrooms, Grilled onions and A1 sauce. The burger itself is actually pretty solid if a bit greasy with a nice char however would it kill them to MELT THE CHEESE! the freaking piece of cheese was cold for crying out loud! Actually wouldve given them 4 stars if not for that. The fries are really good but again a bit greasy (I really dont eat much fast food so once very few months I will live). So finally I had the opportunity to try out 5 guys. I've heard a lot of people rave over this place. I've had In-and-Out Burger, Shake Shack.....now 5 guys. When it comes to the corporate burger franchise: McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's I would place 5 guys in the Wendy's category. 3rd Place. Iwouldn't rave about it except for their free peanuts. Now those were some tasty nuts. (Pause) The burgers were ok. I ordered the little cheeseburger with lettuce, pickles, bbq sauce and mushrooms. I took a bite of my friend's hot dog and it was really good, it had a nice sausagy grilled taste to it. I would order that next time. But it didn't make me crave going back like the way In-out-Burger did. What I do like about 5 Guys: The array of FREE toppings you can add to your burger. I'm a fan of bbq sauce on my burger. The Cajun fries were in ABUNDANCE and tasty. The barrel of FREE peanuts. What I don't like about 5 guys: My burger looked like it was sloppily put together. My burger was bit mushy looking. This place is expensive for some burgers. Just the little burger alone is close to 6 bucks and that does not include fries or a coke. The food was very heavy. It will give you the serious itis. I could still the food in my stomach the next day. I didn't even feel the need to eat breakfast in the morning. Great burger place. I came here after P.S Burger closed down permanently. Although a bit pricey--the food is definitely worth it. I'd recommend getting the double burger if you're particulary hungry. I love the fact that they have the warning label about the sodium content in their food! I would urge Yelpers to eat here sparingly for the sake of their health! Five Guys was the first upgraded fast food spot to hit my local area. They make a solid burger, with plenty of options for customization. I was drunk and it was packed when I got to this particular location. Service was okay, the line moved quickly and I got my food about 10 minutes after ordering, which is pretty average for Five Guys. The employees were also very friendly, I spent my wait time conversing with the guys not running the register. Food was solid. Little bacon cheese burger and fries to split with my drinking buddy. I normally don't review fast food chains or franchises but I just had to write this review. AVOID THIS LOCATION. Go to another one, just avoid this location. The issue I had was the fact that the cashier charged me for 4 patties instead of 3. I wanted one while my boyfriend wanted two. We both heard her say "1 Patty" "2 patties" yet the receipt on the bag states 4 patties so I got 2 patties instead of 1. We also wanted ONE regular soda yet again she charged us for 2 and only handed us one cup. I didn't realize until after she had charged us for 2 drinks. Reading other reviews, it seems like this is a reoccurring issue where the workers (or cashier) would screw up orders at this location. Plus most of the empty tables were dirty and one even had trash on it. read more

We love Five Guys burgers. They're always fresh, not using some frozen patties. Food quality & customer service are definitely 4 stars. Minus 1 star because it took a long time for the food to come out. Definitely longer than any other Five Guys that we've been before. We don't remember exactly how long we had to wait for our food but the amount of time that we had to wait was so long, we almost forgot that we were eating at a fast food place. If you have time to kill, hungry, don't want to spend a lot but wants to have good quality burger, then definitely stop by this place. I love coming to this Five Guys! It's close to the bars we frequent so it's the perfect spot to grab some good burgers and fries before or after drinking. I came here this past Wednesday night and my friend ordered my burger for me while I was en route. When he gave it to me, it was plain, so I went up to the counter and they gladly gave me one of the small cardboard trays full of all the toppings (I wanted them all!). The food is always good here, and I don't think I have to tell you that getting a regular fries is more than enough for a couple people. I know, you're sick of it. You hate hearing of Californians complaining about how every goddamn burger falls short of the glory that is In-N-Out. With that said, I'll try to keep my comparison to the gold standard to the minimum, but I'll let you know, Five Guy's isn't great because it isn't In-N-Out, but because it charges too much for offering too little. Ambiance: Yeah, I know, it's a fast food place--what ambiance? But nonetheless, I was initially excited when entering Five Guys because the use of sparkling white tiles and red decorations and how absolutely immaculate this place was reminded me of In-N-Out. But of course, the best thing about Five Guys is the two barrel of peanuts standing at the center of the floor. You grab a small tin pail, scoop up some peanuts, bring it to the table, and crack those legumes (not nuts) while the burger is being cooked. Clean and free peanuts--how awesome is that? I could see how this place could be fun when there's a sizeable crowd, but on a late Monday night, near closing, it was just my friends and I and a lonely man reading the NY Post in the corner. Maybe it was the super bright fluorescent lighting, but it seemed a bit sad. Fries: Boy, these fries sure do look pretty. They're these thick steak fries, still with their skins, fried to a beautiful golden tan. They come in a rather gigantic paper cup, and the folks behind the counter are pretty generous in heaping on the taters. They even appeal to nostalgic past I never had by offering malt vinegar dipping on the side. They are crispy on the outside, but gloriously piping hot and soft in the inside. But with that said, these were pretty good fries, but not all too remarkable, especially the Cajun fries which were actually pretty darn bland. I could not really taste any of the spicing, so it just ended up tasting like dusty fries. The regular fries were good though. Burger: The meat itself is pretty good. I mean, they're never frozen patties that are only grilled once you ordered; while they're definitely not the best burger ever, they're pretty good for fast food standards. And if a burger was to be graded on just the meat itself, this place might get an extra star, but the truth is, the complete burger isn't very well put together. The buns are just there to hold the burger, but add no flavor or real texture (I love a good burger place with good buns). I'm not sure how I feel about add your own toppings at Five Guys. I mean, yeah, it's awesome that I could add jalapenos and A1 sauce for no extra charge, but it's also a bit of a hassle to also specifically request for lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. Couldn't those be standard and people could just ask for them to be removed if they didn't like them? It kinda sucks getting really excited for a burger, biting into the said burger, and then realizing you forgot to ask for onions. With that said, I was generally unimpressed by the burger at Five Guys. First, it's way too small for the price. Are you seriously going to charge me restaurant burger prices and give a burger a size of a Junior Whopper? Get out of here. And no, you can't claim that that charges are to compensate for free peanuts. Also, the toppings weren't too fresh. The lettuce I got was a bit wilted and the tomato lacked flavor. I'm still miffed that "jalapenos" according to the DC chain, is actually... green peppers. Free peanuts? Awesome. Malt vinegar dip for fries? Awesome. Clean place? Awesome. But that's about it. The burgers are too expensive and take too much time (although the place was nearly empty, we waited 10-15 minutes). This place not only obviously falls short of the golden burger standard from the Golden State (In-N-Out), but it also falls short of some other chains.... I put it above Burger King and Jack in the Box, but below Carl's Jr.. Yeah, you heard me.
