Just left the Five Guy's in Mt Dora Florida and wanted to let you know how unhappy my wife and I are. 2 burgers with fries and small drink was almost $40 for a truly sub par burger, At first I thought you went to burger king for your meat. It has been a few years since I commented on Five Guys, and I would have to say very little has changed since my previous review. Still love the juicy burger, which I tend to order wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, and the fries that remind me of the pier fries at Old Orchard Beach. If you ask for the cheeseburger as it states on the menu, they still ask to clarify if you want the single or the double. If they lack confidence that people are ordering what they want, perhaps. They should change the word "cheeseburger" for "double cheeseburger." Keep in mind that even a small order of fries is really a large order as they fill he cut and then overflow more into the bag. It is about exceeding expectations, I think. Ordered on the app. Wanted to get a free-style fountain drink for my meal but that's not an option on the app. Ordered it when I arrived and the fact I had ordered my food already confused the server. Two free-style machines but one was out of Coke Zero. Took 11 minutes for them to prepare my order. They do not labor the burgers with a number which is inconvenient. Walk in's welcome?? I came in to place a to-go order Friday evening, 09/09/22. There was literally only one person ahead of me in line. This should be quick, I thought. WRONG! First, I watched the lone cashier take not one, but two phone orders instead of helping the person in front of him. (In my opinion, customers in the physical store should take precedent over in bound calls). After eventually taking our orders, I sat and waited 40 minutes for my food to be ready! They were not short staffed, there was 7 total people behind the counter. It quickly became apparent to me, that this restaurant prioritizes call-in orders, website orders, Doordash, Uber Eats, etc, ahead of the customers who are actually showing up in person to pay for their food. I sat and watched, probably close to about 40 different people walk in, get their food immediately and leave, while I waited on my order. After finally getting my food, I asked if I could get a side of Cajun seasoning for my fries, and the guy turns around and completely ignored me. Un-real. In my opinion Five Guys started the new age burger craze and although their burgers are good I find some of the newer startup Burger Restaurants suit my taste better (yes I did say "Burger Restaurants"), but it's all about the kosher dogs here I absolutely love them split, grilled, on a toasted bun with mustard, onion and a splash of hot sauce it's definitely a winning combination. Oh how the Burger chains for the past 50 years must envy these guys sure it's not fast food but it's good food fast and who can't afford to take a few extra minutes to have a freshly prepared burger or in my case a dog and hand cut fries delivered hot and fresh, heck I've wasted more time sitting at the drive through of those outdated processed meat factory stores under the arches waiting to have it my way than I care to think about. If you like your burger with a dose of casual racism and non existent adherence to timeliness, this is the place for you. The online ordering at this location is a joke. Placed an order and arrived in the store 5 minutes after the estimated time that was on the email. After no responses, I asked about my food and was given an excuse that the store policy is to drop fries when the customer arrives. When I told the manager that I had observed the worker having placed two baskets of fresh fries in the holder out of the fryer and did not even bother to fulfill the order, the worker started to talk back to me. The manager told them that their speech was inappropriate and told them to go to the back. As that worker went to the back, they called me a "chink f*ck" and said that they "didn't need this". Obviously I asked for a refund after being called this, to which the manager was gracious to process. I reached out to the district manager shortly after this and they promised to look into the matter and contact me but sadly, this was not done. Maybe it was wrong of me to expect this. But I'm a firm believer to keep your word. And I expect someone who is responsible for managing multiple stores to follow up with something like this. I actually put off writing this review to see if they'd follow up but lack of action leads me to posting this. I just wanted a burger for dinner. It's a chain, so I didn't expect much -- except that some folks rave about it, folks that apparently like their burgers overcooked, overpriced, and undersized. I ordered a plain burger, fries, and a "regular" self-serve soda. Tab: $12.28. WHAT?? My order was served in a brown bag and with no tray. The fries were dumped in the bag on top of the burger -- had to dig for it. No salt, pepper, or napkins were on the table. The burger (2 mini-patties) was effectively incinerated, dry as dust, and without a smidgen of flavor. This is the Burger King business model but at twice the price and 1/2 the taste. I'm a fan of Five Guys Burgers & Fries and this one is right on par with the rest. You are shouted a greeting when you walk in, place your artery clogging order then wait for your number to be called. The restaurant is open, airy and clean. The burgers are juicy and satisfying large. Their fries are excellent too- cut and fried with skins on. They are nice and crispy and deliciously seasoned. My son particularly likes Five Guys for the novelty of eating peanuts while we wait for our burgers. The last time we ate here as we walked in the breeze was blowing off the lake and orange grove showering us with the delicious aroma of orange blossom. Five stars for Five Guys! I'm a huge fan, I unfortunately don't eat burgers too often but when I do this is where I go. We order online then bypass the lines to pick it up when ready. I always get the same thing- junior hamburger with grilled mushrooms, onions, pickle, A1 sauce, mustard. Plus the best part- one order of regular fries, they always are generous with them (as in the bag bottom is filled too lol) feeds all 3 of us. And am I the only one who digs the napkins they provide- instead of those flimsy tri-fold restaurant ones they give you real square ones like at home. Nice! read more

As far as burger places go it's hard to beat 5 Guys Burgers and Fries. Burgers are very good and they give you more fries than a single person probably should eat. They also tell you the source of the potatoes for the fries which I think is pretty cool. Free peanuts while you wait is an added bonus. What's not to love about Five Guys? We were thrilled when they came to town. I don't know what it is that always makes their hamburgers so good, but I've never had one that was disappointing. The fries are also excellent. They are more than generous with the serving of fries. If you are alone, you'll have a hard time eating the regular portion. I don't recommend ordering the large unless you have two people to eat them. I've been to many Five Guys throughout the country, and I truly can't remember a time when I left unsatisfied. After waiting for this burger spot to open up I tried it and am over it. The meat is subpar beef with too much grissle in it to fully enjoy it. The cajun fries are decent but the meal itself is over priced. Also when I went in to order my food while I waited for my number to be called I watched the workers place the hamburger buns and toppings on the table while the burgers cooked and flies were swarming all over and on top of the buns and toppings. I advised the manager that this was unsanitary and he told me there was nothing that they could do about it. If this is his nonchalant approach to food safety violations that are seen to customers then I do not want to imagine what goes on outside of the public view!!! I recently went into this FIve Guys expecting to have the same great experience that I do with locations in my home state of SC. Not only did I wait almost 20 minutes for my "fresh" sandwich. I had to watch this older woman in a grey shirt (assuming this is management) be-little her staff and another employee in a grey shirt in front of all of us customers! The staff looked stressed and over worked, probably short staffed by the volume of people waiting for orders. This is not what I am used to seeing in this kind of interaction in other locations. I have worked in environments like this and feel horrible for the staff dealing with this. I'm sure this store will not make it with this type of management skills.
