Word of advice if ordering for takeout check your order fully before leaving. Open each wrapper and look. I ordered a bacon burger but it came with no bacon. My son's burger came without his favorite mushrooms and pickles. I called the store who offered to remake the order but I live ten minutes away to have to go back and forth. I do not visit this Five Guys in Merrick, very often but the times I came to eat were at night the place was very clean and the food was just as I ordered it and the fries were excellent. First class customer service. I would give 90% of the credit to a lady worker (black t-shirt) who seems to be in charge, but this week we went at lunch time and it was a disaster. This worker seemed to be arriving or taking something from a black truck (black t-shirt). We entered almost at the same time. Usually have a good experience. This time, not so much. I brought my daughter in after picking her up at school. We ordered fries (how could you not), a burger for me and grilled cheese for her. The food takes a little while which I don't mind since the cook it to order. The fries were great. The burger was good hut, my fault for not realizing, I was given and charged for an extra burger. The bad part comes while waiting. The staff was talking while working which is not an issue. They should enjoy being at work. The language was the issue. One of the woman, who was working the grill and fries, was cursing. Not just once, because I have been known to drop the occasional f-bomb, but multiple times while we waited. My 8 y/o heard because I saw her eyes go wide. I didn't mention it to her or to the staff because I didn't want to make a big deal in front of my daughter. This place is like every five guys I've been too. It's fine. I'm not sure why, but I feel they used to be a little better and the prices were lower, but they are fine. You go in and order the burger how you want it with a lot of sauce and topping options. They make it fresh and wrap it up. The fries are usually overflowing the container in the bag, but they seem to have reigned that in a little. The large shakes are what a medium shake used to be, but most places have gone that way. The staff was friendly and following all the safety procedures they should. The wait was a little, but that is expected. If I wanted five guys, this is an average one and close to where I live. Just sent this feedback to Five Guys Corporate: "We've been huge fans of FG's for years. Ordered online yesterday and headed right over to the store since the ETA was 9 minutes. Got there and was told the order would be about 5 more minutes. I then watched as my order was assembled, then left to sit for approximately 5 minutes, unwrapped, while the first worker on the line - and apparently the MOD - continued to stack up orders behind it that the staff clearly was having trouble filling, rather than completing the orders on the line. Finally, my order was wrapped, by the grill guy who clearly was frustrated as well, then sat a few minutes more until the first line worker took bacon from the fryer, unwrapped my order, added bacon, then rewrapped it. it then sat for a couple more minutes. Finally, I told the worker packing the orders that I wasn't happy with the order sitting out for 10 minutes. He went to the first line worker, the apparent MOD, who shouted across the kitchen something I couldn't hear. When I motioned to my ear, she came over and told me, rudely, that she had to wait for the bacon and that the order was fine. I said that sitting open for 10 minutes wasn't fine to me, to which she replied that the table was heated, as if that would add the juice back to my burgers. I told her that didn't make it any better and she barked "What do you want, a refund???". I told her to pack the order and I'll take it up with corporate, so here I am. If this was my first visit to Five Guys it would likely have been my last. And I don't know that I'll return to that location, as there are not only other FGs within a short drive, but ample other options like Shake Shack, Smash Burger, and a whole lot of local burger joints. I don't need to be treated rudely and told that my food sitting open on the pass for upwards of 10 minutes is OK. Burger was tasty, a definite step beyond any fast food joint. The fries were also head and shoulders above your average diner's. That said, $15 for a burger, small fries and a small drink is pretty steep. The free peanuts are nice, but not a game changer. Newer chain burger joints are popping up constantly, offering a wider array of burgers, sides and beverages. Second time here within a month and the fries taste great but if I'm paying for a large they need to be large. They have looked like a small size. After hearing about this franchise and seeing them around, I have one word to describe my experience - DISAPPOINTMENT OK, the burgers are tasty and you can get it with whatever you want on them, the Cajun fries were somewhat tasty and you get huge portions (of fries) but the burgers are freakin TINY and OVERRRR PRICED!!!!! When I was done ordering for 2 adults and 3 children, I didn't expect to be paying almost $60! It might have been ok if the burgers were huge but I'm a man with an appetite. My kids are far from big but they have a decent appetite also. After dropping that kind of loot, I shouldn't want or need another burger. Tonight was our second trip there and we ordered 3 "little cheeseburgers," 2 regular fries, 3 regular drinks, and it came to $27 with tax. That seems like a lot. Just like any other Five Guys...huge, fresh burgers, seemingly unlimited (and free!) toppings, delicious fries, and peanuts (also free!). The fries come in immense proportions, with a regular easily able to feed two adults, or 1/2 of a Rex Ryan. Get 'em cajun style, which is basically with Lawry's Seasoned Salt but so good. I love that I can get grilled onions on my burgers there, which are made to order, and the cheese is actually melted on the patties. That's right, patties. Two patties to a single burger here. Free peanuts, although I'm not sure why they have them, is awesome too. It just works. All of it just work. This is the first time I've actually been an a 5 Guys , though not the first time I have eaten from one. Silly me, I didn't know about the free peanuts till I read the previous reviews. Next time I will know better. This was the first time for my wife and child who both thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I thought the food was consist ant with my earlier experiences. The only negative I have is the fact that there is no children's menu. My three year old actually did a pretty good job on her grilled cheese sandwich. The size of the french fries was surprisingly large for the price. We each had our own sandwich and all left with happy tummies. read more

I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a cajun fry to go. Once I arrived home with my order I sadly discovered there was no bacon on my burger :(. I called and an assistant manager said next time I come in they would give me a free sandwich with my order if I brought my receipt in. They have quite a variety of fixins' to customize your burger and make it your own. If you're going to order french fries, keep in mind they overstuff the bag so I suggest splitting a small to reduce grease intake by a tad. read more

Five Guys consistently is one of the best burgers I have had, and this is my "go to" Five Guys franchise when I am in the mood for a burger. I regularly get the same toppings which are delicious and am generally very happy with the cajun fries, and while they are good, I would like them to be a bit more crispy. Much like a lot of things these days, the price is a bit higher than I would like, but on the flip side, the ingredients are very fresh and you have to pay a premium for such quality. Food is ok...better than most fast food offerings, but I'm the middle of the pack when compared to other upper level burger chains such as burger fi and shake shack. The quality is there, but a few things annoy me... 1) I know they are popular but I do NOT like the freestyle coke soda machines. You taste the remnants of every other flavor that you didn't order and the soda flavor is always off. Go back to a regular coke dispenser please. 2) You can't order buns without seeds. To be fair, this chain will provide 2 bun bottoms, but there are always areas that are either peppered or pounded with stowaway cling on seeds that leave each side of the bun bottom mangled when you flick or pull them off. Again not a problem at fi or shake shack. 3) I am not a prude, but the music is too loud. I should not have to strain to hear if my order is ready over a loud tune that I don't want to hear. Five guys is on my rotation for burgers and fries. The fries are great and the portion size is huge. Their fries are so good I eat them plain. I normally get a double burger with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, pickles, jalapeños peppers,ketchup, tomato, hot sauce and American cheese. Sometimes I wash it down with a vanilla milkshake. The meal price is much more than Micky D's but worth it. read more
