Friends who've been to Five Guys all say it's good, but personally, I think its main advantage is the portion size; the taste is only so-so in the US. It's far inferior to the Boston local brand Tasty Burger. Cheeseburger: Huge, I felt full just after finishing it... The patty was freshly grilled, and the juices and fat were passable, but not particularly memorable; the bun was a bit soggy, like it was steamed (though definitely not). Free toppings are a special feature, especially with 15 kinds--very generous! Many guides recommend "All the way," but that might not be suitable. I only added grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, tomato, and steak sauce, and I already felt it was too much. It lowered the patty's temperature, interfered with the grilling aroma, caused the flavors to mix, and added unnecessary calories. I suggest adding about two toppings according to your own taste. Sometimes less is more! Little Fries: It's hard to imagine that a little fries was more than twice the size of a large fries at McDonald's in China; it completely overwhelmed the burger in the paper bag. Later, I checked Red Notes (a Chinese social media platform) and found out that this was a brand specialty--no matter how much you ordered, they would give you an extra bunch of fries. The fries were cut very thick, fried with the skin on, and made with peanut oil, so the aroma was especially strong, and the texture was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. But all of this was just too sinful... Regular Soda: I chose the strawberry lemonade, which felt like it had a lot of artificial coloring and was also very sweet. read more

Had completely forgotten about this review. Now, rereading it nearly a decade later, I'm going to change my rating to 4 stars. Why, you ask? Did FG go and *finally* start cooking their meat to order, so that your intrepid reviewer could finally get the nice medium-rare pinkish dead cow meat that he was pining after in the original review? Sadly, no they did not. I'm guessing that's a combination of efficiency/speed and liability: they already customize the rest of the burger which already takes a whole hell of a lot longer than slapping on the same ole same ole toppings/condiments combo like McDonalds does. Plus it makes their legal department happier since it eliminates the risk of frivolous lawsuits by people getting sick from undercooked meat that's gone bad. (And probably lets them keep meat in their fridges a lot longer, another cost savings.) I'm doubling my rating for a embarrassingly simple reason: I figured out the best toppings combinations to make this a perfectly enjoyable burger, in spite of the meat being cooked half to death. Here's my DIY recipe for this joint: mustard, mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onions, fresh jalapenos. Sometimes I substitute A1 or hot sauce for the mustard, or throw in some grilled mushrooms, or leave out the tomatoes if I want it to be less mushy. There are ways, people. Bottom line, for $11 you get a double patty bacon cheeseburger that's pretty filling (although I do wish it came with more bacon but since that's just a $1 extra vs a plain cheeseburger I can't complain too much), and certainly beats the equivalent from a place like Wendy's or Burger King. In fact, a FG burger actually rivals many $18-25 burgers from bars and other "fast casual" places where yes you can order the meat cooked just the way you like it, *BUT* they use tasteless frozen patties and (equally or even more horrendous) tasteless frozen FRIES...ugh! So, I confess to coming here about once a month for my fix of dead cow with mega-carb-explosion fresh-cut fries. (I do recommend bringing your own Tabasco sauce to mix into the ketchup since their hot sauce is way too weak, or doing the Euro thing of mixing mayo with the ketchup, or the British thing of dipping the fries in malt vinegar.) read more

I had lunch today with my wife at this location. We both ordered CB with fries and milkshakes. I ordered mine with few ingredients one of them was sautéed mushrooms. To my surprise the mushrooms were canned not fresh. The bottom bread on my burger and my wives were really soggy. We both had to eat our burgers with a fork and knife. Whenever we're in town and staying at the AC Marriott or Fairfield Suites we invariably make this burger joint a pit stop as it's just right around the corner. The food is consistent, fries a nice selling point and usually yummy when it's crispy and well-seasoned with Cajun salt. Wrapped tightly in tinfoil that serves as a perfect glove for consuming these amazing patties, the combination of toppings explodes in ta bouche. Order yours "all the way:" lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard, cheese, sauteed onions and mushrooms, pickles, ketchup, green peppers. The bad ass burgers come in a bun just solid enough to handle this not-too greasy-mess. French fries are fried hard enough and absolutely demonstrate hand cut awesome. The burgers are really great for under 5$. The junior was plenty with unlimited toppings. I read across the menu adding topping after topping and they seemed to get everything on there. Definitely better than the other fast food chains for a burger. Fries were a huge disappointment. My wife had eaten their regular fries before and did not like them so we went with the cajun fries. While they had a decent flavor they were too heavy handed on the spices. These were spice covered fries. Texture was off for a fry as well. I'd like to see some good fries at Five Guys. For now I'll come back for the burger and maybe stash a bag of potato chips in my pants. Service was on point, friendly, helpful, and happy. Restaurant was clean. Just get some new fries! read more

Okay, I might just come here for the super cool Coca Cola machine. I was the biggest kid pressing all the different types of soda and mesmerized by all the flavors. Really!?! Peach Sprite Zero! GRAPE Sprite Zero! I was hooked from that moment on. I asked the cashier what the difference between the small cheeseburger and the regular cheeseburger. Well, THERE'S HUGE DIFFERENCE. Their regular cheeseburger are really double patty cheeseburgers. The small are single patty which was more than enough for me. The hubby didn't hear the cashier and ordered the regular cheeseburger with bacon and he his bulged out of his head when he saw his burger. Deep down inside I think he was excited assuming they made some type of mistake. But I explained it to him and I think he was hooked from that moment. The burgers were good. I realize these folks work hard during Covid for little money, but I said All The Way, NO mushrooms, WITH jalapenos, and I got a pile of mushrooms and jala and no other toppings. It was a good combo, but not what I ordered. I was very clear and the receipt shows the correct order. I left a nice tip when I paid, but apparently that wasn't enough. This is my first time trying out Five Guys. I bought a little bacon burger(its actually not little looks more like a regular size burger) and regular size fries, cost me $7.38 plus tax. The fries look similar to the fries you get at Wendy's, tasted more crispier though but nothing special. My fries came out kinda dark, which I assume the oil has not been changed often. As for the burger it was definitely fresh/better compare to wendys, mcdonalds, and burger king. Love the fact you can add so many toppings for free. Employees were nice and appear to enjoy working there. I would return again but just for the burgers, the rest of the menu items are average and not much value for the money. read more

Awesome service! I ordered a burger with bbq sauce, onions, bacon, and lettuce and a small Cajun fry. There was no bbq sauce on my burger and my fries came out regular. Not a huge deal considering the employees were super friendly!! I've always thought Five Guys is a little overpriced - over $8 for a bacon burger with unlimited toppings, but if you choose not to take many (have certain dietary restrictions) it gets pricey. I love five guys. Let's get that right out of the way. Nothing beats a good greasy burger after a long rough day. I know what I'm getting when I head here instead of an actual burger restaurant where I can cook it to my liking. Overcooked? Yep sure is but somehow I just don't mind it here. I've seen managers berate staff to the point where one literally said fuck this and left. In the middle of a shift. Sure I have no idea what led to said berating but cmon don't pull that on the floor in front of people. This location is always filthy. Like disturbing, not just peanuts shells and dust. Like food stuck to the tables and the pickup counter filthy. This week I had the pleasure of watching the staff clean the walls and ceilings into the fryer, then proceed to wrap my food with those same gloves then give me the signature extra fries. All this was after a 30 minute wait at an off hour. For two burgers and fries. Thought maybe I'm getting fresh fries cool. Nope, they were fresh but then sat for 15 more minutes next to my burgers while they fished shit out of the fryer. You're a fast food joint, I get it. I'm not looking for white glove service. Finally finally finally had my first Five Guys experience. Outstanding! They had me at free peanuts. You should see the people just scooping them up by the bagful. A burger cooked to order, not from frozen meat, formed right there in front of your very eyes? Sold. Juicy and not tough at all. And the toppings! So many choices, and everything tastes so fresh (that's how I would characterize the burger overall - fresh) it's like I'm not even clogging my arteries at all. Watch out for them fries. Cajun style is seasoned beyond reason! Dip it in malt vinegar so you don't eat a week's worth of sodium. And a small fry seems to be able to feed a small army (of 3-4) easily. After craving a burger for an entire week, I finally said to myself, "OKAY. Today is the day. I am getting five guys!" Then I looked at the clock, realized it was 9:45 pm, and had a mini panic attack. They close at 10 pm, and it's definitely a 15 minute drive from my apartment. Deliriously hungry and temporarily judgement impaired, I grabbed my phone and called them up. I expressed my distress over my massive cheeseburger craving and concern about being able to get to the joint in time. The lady I spoke to reassured me that if I got there a little past 10:00 I would be fine, so I placed my order over the phone, thanked the employee a million times, and headed off to satisfy my taste buds! When I finally got there, turns out all of the workers knew me as the "cheeseburger craving girl" and they were super friendly. Customer service = amazing. The burger here, like any other Five Guys, is a step up from your average fast food -- it's greasy and sloppy enough for a hangover cure, but too fatty and juicy to be restaurant-worthy. You can pick extra toppings for your burger (grilled mushrooms, green peppers) for free. A small order of fries is a meal itself, as you'll get practically an entire bag of thick cut steak fries. I feel bad writing bad reviews but, I just ordered delivery through Uber eats. It arrived late, and when I grabbed the bag it felt cold and moist. The fries were tossed in the bag, so it was mixed with the ketchup packs and napkins. Just a big greasy bag. My veggie sandwich had a little moldy spot on the bread. One of the greatest burger chains ever. Seriously. They are just delicious and that is all there is to it. Juicy, tasty, every topping you could want and you don't have to pay extra. And the fries are unbelievable plus they just throw them in a bag which you can see through by the time you get where you are going. Plus they have vinegar for them and being from Maryland (a hop skip and a jump from where Five Guys originated) that makes me quite happy. The mid-Atlantic does fries right and you will not convince me otherwise. I've been missing Five Guys since moving to Boston and I'm quite happy that one is not far away now.
