The food here is absolutely incredible, but the prices are definitely something you can't ignore. For two Bacon Cheese burgers, 2 milkshakes, and 1 small fry, the total came out to $41.67. That is absurd for a fast food burger joint, and i cannot believe they still get away with this. Service was jolly as can be, but each table we went to go sit at had food and crumbs all over the surface. There could be some major improvements made outside of the kitchen itself. read more

Opened the sealed bag (so what's coming is not the delivery driver's fault) to a sloppy pile of French fries. We ordered a small, regular and large and instead of packing them correctly, they just tossed them inside randomly, so the entire top of the bag was nothing but loose fries. By the time we LITERALLY dug the rest of the food out, we found they shorted us an entire burger. Worse, the burgers we did receive were wrapped in cheap aluminum foil that broke apart as we unwrapped them. They were bland and undercooked. The fries were cold and dry and many were burned. This is a good quick spot for a burger, especially while out shopping around Deerfield. It's a great option for people who don't want to settle for a typical low quality fast food burger, but also don't have the time or money for a finer casual restaurant. I placed my order online just to try it out (at 7:39). I got the confirmation that the food would be READY at 7:50. I came in checked in at the counter. Nothing was ready. I ended up waiting 20 minutes before I got my meal. One of the workers was like "you gotta yell at us sorry" I'm just confused because I checked in and someone made the milkshake and gave it to me. But apparently my food was ready and no one said anything. I asked the guy is it cold and he was like no so we shall see. Definitely won't be using the online ordering ever again. The standard burgers are two patties. So, unless you have a big appetite, I suggest the small burger. The burgers are good, but not good enough to justify $21 for two burgers and two small drinks. The burgers are also extremely greasy with grease dripping out of my burger the entire time I was eating it. The best part of Five Guys is the free peanuts, but still not enough to justify the excessive prices. By the way, if you want to have a conversation during your meal, then get your food to go, since the noise level is excessive. Also, if you want a restaurant with clean floors and tables, go somewhere else - pickles and fries littered the floor in our section. For all the people they have working for no more customers than they had when we were there, you would think someone could sweep the floor and wipe the tables. Hated to do so right before closing...but my wife & daughter had both been sick at home for a week and we all needed to get out for a treat and a milkshake seemed like the right one. When I go to Five Guys - I feel like an artist. I get the sandwich my way with an infinite mixture of ingredients. The menu board is my paint palette with the sandwich being my work of art (even though I did not build it) I walked in and followed the typical path to order my burger - like all Five Guys restaurants. I ordered my Bacon Cheeseburger with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Mushrooms, and Mayo. I also ordered a small fry (fried in peanut oil). The food was awesome unless you have a gluten, dairy, or peanut allergy. If I had such an allergy - I would probably still eat the burger and fries and have my friends repeatedly stab my with an epi pen (just like in the movie horrible bosses). because it is just that good. A couple fo things for those looking for portion control: A Bacon Cheeseburger - is 2 patties A small Fries is a ton of fries Cost: Burgers are $5-6 - please note that is a double cheeseburger - about 20% higher than McDonalds and Burger King - so much worth it. Fries are about $3 - the small is much more than any large fries at compartive start - get your potato love on Because of my meal - I think I gained the most points in weight watchers. They used to be consistently good but the last handful of times we've gone, it's always something. Once, shake machine down (yes, I know that's out of their control, but annoying none the less). Then, couple weeks ago they give us our four burgers and one is missing the top bun?!? Don't ask me how they could do it, but they did. Finally, in last night and they mess up son's bacon double burger. Go back up to counter (after waiting a solid 12-15 minutes for food) and say they will remake it. We continue eating. We are done 10+ minutes later and still no burger. Go back up and they never made it. No apologies. Used to recognize the workers (from previous visits) but seems like all new people. Customer service is lacking badly. In addition, spill (liquid) all over floor near entry/garbage area and many tables and chairs were dirty. We won't be back. read more

So I ordered a nine dollar bacon burger ( And a little cheeseburger and a regular fry $20.27) . Bacon was the only topping on the burger and they didn't put it on the burger . Didn't realize this till I got home twenty minutes later . Called the store and asked to speak to the manager told him what had happened and his first words to me were .... I didn't make the sandwich : ( in a completely dismissive and condescending tone . At which point I told him not to worry about it I'd handle it in my survey. I'm a caregiver to my 76 year old Mother who has memory issues, so it's not like I'm going to load her back up in the car and drive forty minutes round trip to get them to hand me two pieces of bacon or refund the price of the bacon burger . Completely disappointed in this transaction. Now I'm headed to yelp and twitter to let people know the type of service you get from this location. We like the hamburgers here a lot. They make them fresh to order. They always include a really generous order of fries. Free peanuts to munch on while you wait for your burgers are a fun touch. Dining room is simple with lots of red and white tile and wooden chairs and tables. Only issue I had was that a lot of the tables weren't wiped off. Wrong on all counts- I visited at 2:30 in a Friday- was the only customer, should have known. First the guy who took my money was in such a hurry to get rid of me, he didn't wait for me to get change from my pocket, then got flustered when I gave him some coins with my $20 bill. Haven't been to the chain in about 1 year. I forgot how much I enjoyed them. Service is a little slow; I wish they didn't wait until you ordered to put a burger on the grill. Toppings are plentiful and are free except cheese and bacon. Fries are great but they need a smaller one than little (which feeds 2-3). You can eat shelled peanuts while you wait. I don't know why they taste so good. They're nothing special. I get the bacon cheeseburger (Which, of course is a double cheeseburger= The Scott Special) with mayonaise and bacon...that's all there is to it. And, while I'm ridiculously thick with meat when I finish one...I could eat more. I could always have another. I'm not a huge fan of their fries though. So, with the pure meat intake I have here, is probably a good thing I don't really enjoy the fries. Ok, I just don't get it. Seriously, the place defies logic. A $6 bacon cheeseburger that's... well.. it's just okay. Not great. Not terrible. Just okay. The burger ended up annoying me because the onions are chopped. WTF? The fries are decent, although the ginormous vat-o-potato that you get even when ordering a regular is a bit over the top. I opted for the cajun seasoned, which is good, but eventually gets to you. The free peanuts... well, schticky, and just... okay. Not bad, not great. If it weren't for the Pink Floyd blaring when I walked in, I would have scored it 2 stars, but any food establishment jamming to some old school Floyd at least earns a few props. But walking out of the place after $12 and change for a burger, regular fry, and a beverage was qualification for a one-time experience for me. I just don't see the value equasion here. First time to go to any 5 Guys; was told it would be great. Spouse and I both thought it was all around awful. Screeching loud "music" in an echoing cavern with freezing AC; service was bad; we waited so long for our order I was ready to walk out - then one order came wrong, so had to wait more while mine got cold. The kicker was that the food itself was not good at all. We both thought the burgers we got were terrible. Bun was thin and mushy and quickly fell apart; It didn't even taste very good. I was very upset to see the Clifton Five Guys close. I'm happy this one is still here! Five guys burgers are very good. It's not a place that you want to eat at everyday because it's not healthy for you but it is a great place to have once a week! The Cajun fries are great I love those! It's just different that any other fries I have had out there. The Burgers are pretty good but it is a building your own. They do a really good job of making each ingredient very fresh. I know, that sounds common sense but this is the burger you want on a stressful day or while studying all night. It is meaty, juicy, simple and delicious. Two cautions before I begin: 1- Everything is fried in peanut oil so anyone allergic can't eat here 2- Unless there are 6 people in your group, order a small fries. Now that is out of the way I can continue! Five Guys has somewhat pricey ($5-7 depending on size and kind) burgers with a pick-your-own-adventure topping scheme. After you choose your type (hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger, or bacon cheeseburger in regular or small sizes) you then dictate whatever toppings and sauces you'd like. All the toppings are 'free' so you can literally get whatever they have. While you wait for them to call your number you can go have a bunch of free peanuts and claim a table. The fries are large and thick-cut and, as I mentioned, they practically fill the bag with fries so unless you have a large group get a small. Also, I think the Cajun fries are slightly better than the standard ones. This Five Guys gets line-out-the-door busy during lunch and dinner, so be mindful of that. Thanks to the free peanuts it's not unusual during peak times for the floor to have a layer of peanut shells and to be so thick the actual tile is not visible. Our most recent visit was on Halloween for my father in-law's birthday, so the restaurant was unusually quiet and clean. I got the cheeseburger with "everything" plus raw onion, jalapeno and bell peppers. "Everything" being mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onion, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. It was good - not great but good and I would definitely prefer it over most fast-food burgers. TL;DR: Five Guys is a dedicated burger joint that's much better than your standard take-out like McDonalds or Burger King, however it's still a fast-food burger and there are still much better options out there. Every Five Guys I've visited has had the same great atmosphere with the red and white color scheme and newspaper clippings all over. The interior has newspaper and magazine headlines touting the Five Guys openings, awards, and critic comments dating back to 2005. Where have I been? Five Guys specialize in burger, branded fries (with the name of the American farm that grew today's potatoes - from Warden Washington) and soft drinks. Pretty basic. Very tasty! We ordered at 7:22 and didn't get our food until after 8:00 pm - just as we were heading back up to ask for a refund. Orders are being done wrong. The food isn't bad but man, they need to get some help at the register and putting orders together. IE, don't put your chowder head on the register. The face of your store should be one of your better more articulate people- Anyway, we ordered a pretty basic order. 3 burgers, large order of fries and 3 drinks. We got two burgers that were made wrong. No bacon on a bacon cheeseburger. No onions on a one ordered specifically with onion. A regular fry order (served cold and soggy) and charged for 4 drinks. Now to be fair; the order was corrected and the staff was pleasant about it. But it did take a while One person in our party of three had to wait while the other two ate then obviously the other two had to wait while the third person wolfed their meal down, not having time to enjoy it like they should. Not the end of the world, but it is annoying. Being overcharged for an extra drink we never ordered- again not a huge deal. It really wasn't worth the hassle of cash register wizardry to recover the 2.39 that the staff probably wasn't capable of doing in a timely matter anyway, but it's worth mentioning for others to be on the look out for. read more

The worst experience ever at a Five Guys, hands down. Placed order online. Arrived at 7:44 pm (was sent confirmation to my email that my order would be ready at 7:39). Walk up to the counter for placed orders, after a short wait I inquire about my order. Hear cook and co-worker discuss my name. The cook asks if I want my burger "all the way" and I told him if it has lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions than yes, I want it "all the way." The "cook" points to the sign that shows what ingredients are in "all the way." I responded that when placing an online order it doesn't break down what "all the way" is, but I want lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions. That pissed the "cook" off. After waiting about 5 more minutes (now order was supposed to be ready 10 minutes ago - what benifit is it to order online?) the cook starts talking about me to his co-workers and begins laughing at me. I'm done at this point! I told him he didn"t need to be talking about a customer and I'm sorry I didn't know what "all the way ment." I took my food from the counter as the "cook" told me to get my ass out of here with gaggles of laughter from the co-workers. NEVER WILL I STEP INTO THIS FIVE GUYS AGAIN. I tried calling and speaking to the manager and they laugh at me again as the "cook" takes the phone and tells me he's got hamburgers to cook, more laughter again.
