Walked in store. No staff looked up or spoke for several min. Noticed they all kept their heads down and would not make eye contact. Waited a while longer. Then I asked if there was someone working the cash register. One woman said "I'll help you as soon as I finish making this malt". The manager said "we'll take your order soon". Then the grill person sai "we're trying to catch up first". Ok so they were busy. The plan was to ignore everyone in line till you get caught up? I said I'm out. I'm very disappointed. I ordered delivery directly from this five guys. Not only did I not get my drink that I ordered my burger was missing the BBQ sauce. I called the store that night to try to get my order fixed but no on picked up. A few days later I called corporate to try to get a refund for the drink I ordered that I did it receive and they took down my information. I never heard anything so a few days later I called back this store. The manager said he got the email and would forward it on to his district manager. So now almost two weeks later I don't have my refund. It's not worth the aggravation for a $3 drink. But it's the principle that I paid for something I didn't receive and have had no communication. I really like Five Guys as a burger chain. The sizing is a bit ridiculous (I always opt for the Little Burger because the regular size is humongous; and the fries are ridiculously over portioned), but the food is good and the burgers travel well. HOWEVER, I have recently had to drop this location down for general lack of cleanliness and safety. In a heavily staffed kitchen, practically NO ONE was wearing his or her mask properly. Masks are pushed down to the neck, noses are out, and a shocking number of cooks are touching their faces while handling food. Even if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic this would be unclean. The last two times I have attempted to order food from here, I have left before placing my order because the kitchen staff is being so irresponsible about basic clean principles. Eww. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite and as expected,5 guys didn't dissapoint. This location has the same as others in the area. The parking area was spacious and clean. Inside there was plenty of customers and employees dmiling and prepping food. The prices are comparable to upper end fast casual. My double bacon cheese burger was made to order like all food served here. About 10 min later I unwrapped my sandwich and the piping hot freshness smelled sooo good. The first through the last bite was so delicious. It was just filling enough to not need anything else for a few hours. I will be back to this place, one of the better locations in the kc area. The burgers here are seriously good. They're really fresh and cooked when you order, and I love how you can add any toppings you want, most for no additional charge. They've got a huge selection of toppings. They have 'regular' and 'little burgers,' but it just means 1 patty versus 2. The 'little' burger with 1 patty is still huge and very filling. The fries are really good- they're the kind with skins on- quite crispy and salty. The 'large' order feeds 3 or 4 people quite easily. There's one of those fun Coke machines with a gazillion choices, and an iced tea machine too. It's not a health food place, but it's fun and a good value. It makes my whole family happy. read more

I have to say the food here is fine but I've never quite understood the hype around it. I've been here a handful of times in the past and the burgers were always fine, but they don't hold a candle to several other burgers in the area. I've even heard some people say they're better than In & Out or Shake Shack and that seems downright silly. I will confess that sometimes the hype of something can lead to a letdown, and that could be in full effect here. Fries were okay, a little overcooked but still tasted alright. I do kind of like the peanuts when you walk in because I love shelled, salted peanuts, but I'm not exactly sure why they're there. It's strange. Five Guys is in the same mall as my work place, and I occasionally catch a whiff of their sizzling burgers. I finally decided to check them out, and I'm thrilled that I did. The employee I encounted was super friendly. You have a decent selection of toppings to choose for your burger. I got a single burger which was huge. I have no idea how someone would eat a double! I ordered lettuce, tomatos, green peppers, and mushrooms on my burger. The best part is that they give you a cup full of fries and then more fries on top of that. An over flowing cup of fries and a single burger was more than enough to fill me up. The fries aren't the best fries I've ever had, but their abundence is fantastic! read more

I waited for my order, and went I got home I saw that they gave me old stale fries!!! If they are charging premium prices I expect premium quality. I had to throw both order of the fries away. I still don't get it. I tried this location to see if I just wasn't visiting the right place. Nope. I'm not saying that is wasn't a decent burger... but what is this hype? Everyone swoons and wets their pants when this place gets mentioned. I got the cajun fries only to discover they are the regular fries that get a light coating of cajun seasoning right before they hit the bag. No special cooking process... just a different salting. I don't dig their fries. They are limp and mushy. I would recommend skipping the fries (save yourself about 3 bucks) and eating the free peanuts. If you have to have them, just buy one order and share ....with EVERYONE. The burger must be a double or you will be really disappointed. The double is about the size of regular burger. They do wrap the burger in foil and that makes the cheese extra melty and the bun soft. Ok for a buger fix, but not outstanding. PS PRICEY (5.39 for a double "regular" cheesebuger) and they don't offer combos. read more

Went here last night after hearing that it's as close to In-N-Out as we have here in the Midwest. I told the hubby not to get too excited as it wasn't said to be as good as In-N-Out, but he was excited non-the-less. Upon entering the store, the peanuts were exciting for the hubby who was so distracted by them he couldn't make a rapid burger selection. Anywho, he chose the cheeseburger "All the way" (I think that's what it's called with the toppings) and I got the mini cheeseburger prepared the same way. Oh and we split regular fries (huge portion!). I'm so glad I asked because the cheeseburger which I would think would be a single patty since it doesn't say 'double' cheeseburger was actually a double cheeseburger and the mini cheeseburger, which I think of as 'White Castle' or something, was actually just a regular single cheeseburger. Good thing I asked!! I would not have been able to eat the cheeseburger! Oh, and our total was something like $13. On to the taste! The burgers were hard to eat, but so juicy. And although we both wished for a little more seasoning on the meat, they satisfied our cravings for a simple burger. Not quite as good as the infamous In-N-Out, but the hubby said he liked the fries better at Five Guys! WOW, that's a compliment! I walked in the restaurant at 9:25 pm, the store doesn't close until 10pm. As I approached the register the worker told me they can't take anymore orders because they are closed. There were 3 or 4 people waitin on their food and there were 4 employees in the store. I'm not understanding why 35 mins before they closed they say they can't take an order. That's poor customer service. If the store hours say 10pm, then the customer should be allowed to order 35 mins before closing with the handful of employees that were there. I was making my monthly pilgrimage to Trader Joes, forgetting it was tax free weekend...After I finished grocery shopping, I begrudgingly drove around the very crowded parking lot, to Five Guys on the opposite side of the mall. The mall is usually quite sullen. Somehow, a spot turned up, infront of Five Guys. I like five Guys, I think they are really good. I'm not certain but this location seemed to cost more than the other location I visited a couple of weeks ago.I swear it did. I'm not imagining. It wasn't crowded, oddly, it was about 12:30. I was helped, but the employee appeared tired, geez she probably was considering. I recieved a number, and noticed the tables weren't as clean as they could be. And the cooks didn't have the team work I've noticed. My order was fine. I got it,and looked in the bag to make sure the cheeseburgers were plain. The cashier said, "Did we forget anything?" I said, "No, I was checking to make sure the cheeseburgers were plain." They were, and I left. Got home, and everything was fine. The fries were a bit soft, not crisp. I don't recall Five Guy fries being soft. This Five Guys kind of seemed not a happy as other locations. But it could've been due to it being tax free days. This particular location has really gone down hill. Milk shake was pretty much the consistency of milk, both orders of fries were raw and soggy, burgers were okay, but toppings weren't fresh. To top it off the short blond girl who took my order and was dealing out food was clearly stoned and / or look inconvenienced to be working there. This Five Guys consistently under performs compared to others. I love 5 guys and have been frequenting them for years in multiple States. This location in one word: "Sucks". An order of LARGE fries barely feeds my 12 year old and I. The burgers are what you would expect but take much longer to get to you than normal, in two words: " slow service". Food is great but without fail, they'll mess up your "to-go" bag. We've ordered 7+ burgers on a number of occasions for ourselves and friends and when we get home, one or two are missing. Not sure why we haven't learned our lesson and taken the time to count them there. So frustrating. Best part? When you get home and call them to explain what happened -- they don't believe you, they ask for pictures (what would that prove anyways?! Anyone being misleading could just "hide" the missing item). So ridiculous. For the record, I wouldn't be writing this review if they had decent customer service following an incident. Five Guys has been around. I started going to them when I lived on the east coast. It was long before the proliferation of burger joints. Now we have Smashburger and Blanc B&B and the now defunct B2. We have places like the Beer Kitchen which makes a pretty mean patty and fries as well. When you go, and you SHOULD go, you get basically two choices. Burger [two patties] or Little Burger [one patty]. Then with or without cheese [American cheese only]. Then with or without bacon. All other toppings are free. I chose mayo, bbq sauce, fresh sliced jalapeños, and grilled onions. It was a little wet due to liberal sauce application, but skip-your-dinner good. The patty was done just right. And special mention goes to their jalapeños always being just the right heat and so so so fresh. : ) Five Guys has 50lb sacks of spuds stacked up that guide you to the order station. Fresh is a no-brainer. They offer salted and cajun seasoned... so that is cool. No dice on crispy here though. Fresh spuds are hard to get crispy due to water content. Trust me... I make 'em at home. So there it is. Burger snobs should be OK here, fry snobs may sob a little. Say THAT 10 times, fast. : ) read more

As a first time visitor to 5 Guys, I was somewhat ok on the experience, although it really didn't blow me away. The decor is an in-your-face-screaming-out-loud display of their extremely high opinion of themselves. The place is just filled with huge red and white signs with quotes from various sources where their restaurants are located. Some of them are very old quotes making me think they they haven't had a ton of really good press lately. The restaurant is pretty noisy. The ordering process consists of patrons waiting in line at a cash register to place their orders and then waiting (and waiting and waiting) for their number to be yelled out at the top of the lungs by some poor person who works in their kitchen. Most of the tables were dirty when we were there, but we were able to find a table near the windows that wasn't too frightening. Having never been to 5 Guys before, we didn't know how big the burgers or fries were. When I asked the young lady working the register how big the large fries were, she gave me quite a nasty glare and just rung up the large fries, anyway. I probably should have complained about her behavior (my hubby thought it was out of line as well) and asked her to please answer my question, but I just ignored it rather than raising a stink. My bad. We got WAAAYYYYY too many fries and ended up throwing more than half of them away. Incredibly wasteful. The burgers are decent. The regular burgers are actually double burgers and have a lot of meat. The menu says they cook them well done and they do indeed. They were a little overcooked and over-dry for me, but to each his own. I do like that they offer lots of toppings and there's not an upcharge for them. I love jalapenos on burgers and ordered them on mine. Unfortunately, I only got a couple of tiny slices of jalapeno and probably would have enjoyed my burger more with more jalapeno. When we were there, they were out of pickles. Because who cares about pickles on burgers, right? If these really were fast food burgers, I'd probably bump them up a bit on the rating. If you compare these to McDonald's or Burger King, they're much much better. But the service sucks, the burgers come out very slowly (hence NOT fast food), you have to wait on yourself and they're just decent burgers. Considering what we paid at 5 Guys, we could have eaten at a full-service burger place for only a few bucks more and we would have enjoyed a far superior meal and service. read more

It's the most ridiculously tasty and CHEAPEST lunch I've had in forever, and I did the vegetarian option--and then I had a bite of my boyfriend's burger, and was consequently furious with myself for not ordering the cow. It's. So. Good. Ok: think In 'N Out Burger from the West Coast--delicious, yes? Well. 3.5 stars Long story short: Good burger for what it is, but despite what people say, it's not like nor better than In N Out. Long story long: Yes, I know there are Five Guys in LA, but I had NEVER been to a Five Guys while out there, so this was my first ever experience at one. And my impression was that the place was more like The Counter, but instead it is more like In N Out in THAT ASPECT ONLY in terms of their POS system, meaning you go up to the register to order your burger like you want, then wait for your food to be called via a number system. Even the color scheme was similar. White tile with red accent. I don't know if that was their intention to copy In N Out like that. I'm just saying. They also had bags upon bags of potatos forming a makeshift "wall" to let people know to walk up along the side wall when approaching the register, so as not to "invade" on the dining room area. I went to order, and having told the young girl that I'd never been there, she went on a rapid fire spiel about how it works. Seriously, she was talking so fast, I probably missed half of what she said. I wonder how much sugar she had that morning. I mean, it's relatively straight forward, their system, but I would say of the half I did manage to catch, there were a couple of tidbits in there that I found useful. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and pickles. Yes, not quite like a double double from In N Out, but I was in the mood for bacon. I order regular fries (they have a cajun style) and a drink. We sat down and a few minutes, my order was ready. Apparently everything comes as if you had ordered it to go. *shrug* I unwrapped the burger and after taking a picture and tweeting about it, I dug in. Now, I can already tell you the differences. 1. The patty is not as juicy as In N Out. 2. There are sesame seeds on the bun. 3. The ingredients just seemed to taste a little different. 4. Yes, I did have bacon, so it's not a true comparison to In N Out, but that's insignificant and I could've still distinguished a difference between the two. It's definitely not better. The fries were good though, seeming to be skin on and were thicker than In N Out. Don't get me wrong, this was still quite a good burger for what it was, but I came to the conclusion that this is just in a different category as In N Out and should NOT be compared. I mean, it's like trying to compare Umami Burger to Father's Office (for you LA folks of mine), because the bottom line, they're in different categories of burger. Yes, trust me, as a burger aficionado, there are definitely different categories of burgers. Okay, if you're going to "treat yourself" to a burger and fries, it may as well be the good, old fashioned greasy kind; that is just what they serve at Five Guys! The menu is simple: burgers, fries, an all beef hot dog or a grilled cheese. Obviously you come here for the burger. We were encouraged to get the "burger," which is actually a double burger. Next time I'd go for the "little burger," which is actually a single, and will still put you into a food coma, I'm sure. My only suggestion is that you have time for a long nap after your meal, cuz that is all that you will feel like doing! It all depends on the type of burger you are after! I am not huge on chains, but this place has grown on me. Five Guys keeps it simple: burgers, dogs, fries. If you want a fancy burger, go to blanc. The burgers are juicy and cooked through. This may be a problem for some, but this is a fast food joint. All of the toppings that I have had are exactly as I expect. The staff are friendly and fast. I love this place and love this particular location. I work for a local church ministry coordinating some of their events and without fail, after a long weekend event, I find myself craving a burger and fries from Five Guys. This location is the closet location to my house, and I've never had a bad experience here. I've also come to realize that the busier they are, the faster they fulfill orders. I've never waited for long during a busy lunch or dinner hour but if I come at an off time it usually takes a little longer. Either way, the wait isn't that long and it is always worth it for an amazing burger and fries. Just talking about it makes me want to leave work early, speed like a maniac, and get my double cheeseburger with every topping. This Five Guys location has a large seating area plus outdoor seating so unless by random chance the virgin Mary appears in a grilled hamburger bun attracting droves of devoted followers, I doubt you will have a seating issue. Another thing that I want to comment is the staff, they are always friendly and all seem to enjoy working with each other. There have been numerous times where I've thought to myself, and this will probably sound crazy, "I want there to be a reality show based on this Five Guys and it's staff." This kind of reveals that I go often enough to know a few of the employees and watch them interact with each other, but who can resist this place? I for sure can't. read more

If you are going to eat a burger and fries, you might as well go for the greasy and messy and this is it. The burgers are smashed and crispy, sometimes a little dry, usually great. The fries alone are worth the trip. One order can split between 2-3 people. Unlike some other burger chains, Five Guys gets their bacon super crispy and the jalapeno topping option is nice. You have to wait a little bit for your food and sometimes clean off your own table, but it is the perfect hangover meal. read more

I love a good burger so I thought I'd give in to the hype and try the chain that is Five Guys. I usually stay away from chains that aren't local, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I went in around 7:30 on a weeknight, there were maybe 10 people there. I got the basic cheeseburger and fries, got my number and waited. Then waited some more, then waited a little more. I waited 20 minutes and there were maybe four orders in front of mine. Oh well, I figured for fresh burgers, this is what you accept. The burger was good, but nothing that warranted me waiting and it was way, way, way too greasy. The paper and bag it was in soaked through and the bun was soggy. The meat itself was good, but the grease overwhelmed any flavor. The fries were run of the mill, nothing special. To me, it tasted like one star better than Steak and Shake (which is late night drunk food) and to be honest, probably in the same ball park. The grilled onions were wonderful, but the grilled green peppers were a little crunchy for my tastes. They have free salted peanuts everywhere. Was dragged out here by the Hubby who had went once before with his brother, and said the fries were the best. I don't get it? What's so amazing about it? Portions weren't worth the price, and to me it was all just average...we both got double burgers and they weren't huge...I'd hate to see what a single one looks like. I go here for lunch all the time! It is absolutely delicious. I love that their fries are fried in peanut oil, you can definitely taste the difference. And they give you SO many, that I can never finish them all! I wish they offered ranch as a side, but they are delicious without it, too. The burgers are heaven, and I thought I could tackle a regular, but learned to get a small the second time because I couldn't finish it all. Short and Sweet! I'm really clueless to the hype of Five Guys... I ate there one time and it was so disgusting that I knew that it was the last time... Just how bad... I went back to McDonald's after five years. And that's saying alot. Heart attack in a snack... over priced garbage... Where the F does one go to get a descent meal for the money??
