I just wanted a hot dog... I have been craving a simple hot dog with ketchup and mustard... that's it. People always are on and on again about their hamburgers, but I like their hot dogs as well. I dread not being able to drive through. I had, what I thought was a lot of time, in between a performance and I decided to see a late night showing of a movie. I wasn't starving, but a simple hot dog with a small french fry (let's be honest - their small is a large anywhere else) sounded like it would go very well with my movie! I pulled up to park, having never been to this location before. I tried months ago, but had misread their hours and miss them by 15 minutes. I was so happy to see the couple in front of me ordering knew what they want and got their order in really fast. I approached, and the cashier told me in a really weirdly dramatic drawn out way, they were completely out of hot dog buns. He first offered to do it as a lettuce wrap - sorry but if I'm eating junk food - that just seems dumb. He then offered to have them put it in a hamburger bun... ok fine whatever. I did not wait horrifically long, but it's a really good thing that I looked at the slipFor the order that was taped to the bag. I reread it several times thinking I was crazy but it said hot dog + ketchup and mayo. What kind of a sociapath would I have to be touched get mayo on a hot dog... and if you are that person, put down the blade - you do you. The cashier, who was up front was now standing next to the person who seemed to be running the kitchen area. The cashier immediately said oh I'm sorry - I must have misheard you, I thought you said mayo... they immediately offered to remake the sandwich and asked if I wanted to throw the wrong one away or take it anyway... my fries were in there so I just said I hate to just throw it but I almost had to play tug of war with the bag.... the whole thing just felt super awkward even though they made my sandwich... The people here were friendly and nice but they really don't care about quality. I'm not sure if this is a new thing or if this location has always been this way. The two of us ordered one burger each. There was hardly anyone in there so it wasn't busy since it was not at a regular meal time. Both burgers were wrong. In addition, we watched them partially assemble our meal and they put the condiments on both sides of the buns... Is that right? Ketchup, mustard, and relish on both buns? Can we please get some consistency here? The fries were way overcooked but the burgers were undercooked. Hamburger meat should not still be mushy, when put on a burger. The meat should be firm. It literally fell apart as I tried to eat it. The only topping I had on it was BBQ sauce so it should not have been that mushy. I had to disassemble the burger and fry it on the stove at home, so it was fully cooked and edible. Obviously, this is not ideal when you're paying for fast food. The fries tasted like they were in the fryer for 10 minutes too long, and then sat for 4 hours. Also, why on earth would you dump fries on top of the napkins, burgers and ketchup?? No one should have to fish ketchup packets, out from the fries. People's hands have been all over the ketchup packets, that is very unsanitary and absolutely disgusting. How are people supposed to use napkins, that are completely soaked in grease from having fries dumped on them? I don't understand why you guys do this? Walking in my first impression .....dirty tables, staff in the back eating and hugging each other, a guy walking to his prep station with his mouth full. The soda machine was mostly empty paid $3.79 for a large Diet Coke and they were out so ended up with carbonated water. I didn't know peanuts are free, I asked what they cost and the employee's response "you can pay me", his humor was lost on me. Yes, they are free after confirmed with the second employee. My perception was that it was a bit disorganized but that's only because, after 10 minutes, someone asked me if I was waiting for an order. I gave them my order number and they couldn't find it for a moment. Then, it turns out that the guy who originally took my order - and had been going back and forth between the stations - was the one who ended up making my shake. Which he could have done immediately. I hate to do this because they had a lot of new personnel, but I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're prepared for a long wait. We ordered and there was quite a bit of people waiting which was the first sign. The girl at the registered told us she was new and didn't know if "all the way" meant the black ingredients or red. 45 minutes later we get our two burgers and medium cajun fries. The wait we understood having 2-3 out of 4 new personnel on the line but both our burgers were made incorrectly and pretty sure they gave us a small fry. Well I think tonight marked my last trip to Five Guys. We used to go every so often when we lived in San Diego. But tonight...no so good. Honestly, they were a little busy, and all employees appeared to be working hard. But things just weren't pleasing. As I waited for my food I glanced around. Although most of the table tops appeared to be somewhat clean, the walls, floors...really most surfaces just seemed greasy and dirty. The articles of trash and peanut shells outside in the patio area (and the floor inside to a lesser extent) were too plentiful to be from today only. My husband went into one bathroom and said it was unusable, toilet and trash can overflowing with paper towels. Needless to say, what we ate we ate in the car. The burger was pretty close to how I remember. But unfortunately the fries were not cooked to crispy, or even near crispy. So my teen and the BFF are on a bit of a burger kick. And not homemade turkey burgers either. We had actually only been to Five Guys once, years ago, when my then 79 year old mom asked for a hot dog.( She enjoyed it btw, with mustard and relish natch). Wow, we had recently visited the Five Guys in Cedar Hills and it was so great that we decided to stop in here, hungry after church. What a disaster. The cashier was unfriendly, never made eye contact once, and when he gave us the receipt, the number was torn off the top. So there was confusion about what number we were. Every table in the place was dirty and the floor was an obstacle course of ketchup containers, napkins, and other debris. The soda machines had greasy fingerprints all over them, as did the windows. We were given the wrong order, and when they corrected it it was still wrong. Hubby had to go back to the counter twice more to get it right. I had the heebeegeebees but I did eat my beef hot dog, and it was good. Stopped by for a quick bite to eat on our way home last week. I ordered a bunless cheeseburger this time, specifically a lettuce wrap. Although fresh and hot, I wasn't able to pick it up and eat it, too much lettuce. I did successfully eat it by cutting it up on the tinfoil wrapper. Lol. I wish they sold an extra extra small size in fries as I only can eat a few, but I refuse to not order them because they are so good . It's hard to go wrong with Five Guys burgers. I ordered a double cheeseburger all the way, and that was a enough for me and my sister to share. We ordered a total of 5 burgers and 2 small fries (one regular and one cajun) for 8 people. The burgers were really filling; however, we probably will get large fries next time. I've heard that 5 Guys is just the best, but I honestly don't get it... Is it a good burger? Sure... Is it great? No. The fries were pretty darn good, but I guess I just expected more. With the amount of premium burger and sandwich places around, 5 Guys is pretty much hanging in the middle of the pack. For $9, the burger should be bigger hands down. You can go to a certain unnamed fast food place and get a burger for $7 that is a Goliath compared to this, and it's every bit as good. We spent $55 for 4 people to eat, and I could have spent half of that elsewhere for a burger just as good if not better. We also ordered a milkshake ($4), and what came out looked like a kiddie drink... maybe 10-12oz or so? I'm sorry guys, but a $4 milkshake should be twice that size unless it's God's gift to milkshakes, which this was not. All in all, I was completely underwhelmed. I ordered the traditional burger joint "triad" of burger, fries, and a shake at the Tanasbourne Five Guys location. It's obviously a popular place because lots of customers were in there...waiting in line to order at the counter and also standing around waiting for their food. Fortunately, there were a couple of unoccupied tables so I ate my food inside (instead of in my car). Well, my burger wasn't "spectacular" as I had hoped it would be. It was a typical cheeseburger such as I could get at many other burger places...it was OK, but nothing special. My strawberry milkshake was just OK too, but the French Fries was actually the item that really stood out. I first had 5 Guys some years back in AZ and tried them when thy first opened here! It's been a few years and going back reminded me why this isn't on my list of favorites. First I can't get over the fact that the floor is a mess from the peanut shells, I get the concept but don't you think someone would sweep in between shifts or during breaks? Probably wouldn't hurt to wipe down the tables? We went to sit down there were only 2 other occupied in the entire restaurant NOT ONE TABLE was clean and ready for the next customer. There were two staff just standing behind the counter I asked one for a towel so I could clean it myself. She came out and cleaned it then came back and cleaned the others! Like many others, I don't understand why so many people like this place. Every once in a while I give in and try it again, in hopes it'll be decent. Each time I find myself throwing away leftover food. The burgers just aren't that good. Their burger and fries should come with a roll of paper towels so you can clean up the dripping grease. They may also want to triple bag their food as the paper bag is usually saturated in grease with a few min of picking up your order. I really don't know why this place is such a cult favorite. I remember when it first came to Hillsboro, my co-workers were always raving about it. And it would still get name dropped like "Hey have you been to Five Guys? It's SO good, their fries are the BEST fries." I finally went with my boyfriend. He got a burger and large fries and a soda, I got a burger in lettuce (no bun), small fries, and a bottle of barely cold water. It was about $30. So, OK, we were excited to eat the food based on word of mouth and the bold claims they have stickered onto their windows and walls. Because this chain only gives you basic burgers toppings (cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and the normal condiments), one would anticipate that everything will be top notch, since it's kept simple. I personally love a simple burger--cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, a little ketchup... I like to taste the ingredients, not be slathered in sauce. My point is, I am fine with the fact that they only provide the basics. When I got my burger wrapped in lettuce, as ordered, I opened my wrapper to find... a build-your-own-burger kit! Some lettuce on bottom, some cheapo paper thin fast food bacon, two burger patties welded together with gross American "cheese" that looks like it came out of a plastic wrapper, pickles, tomatoes, and one token slice of lettuce on top. There was no way I was going to be able to eat this with my hands without looking and getting gross. It was not wrapped in lettuce. It was sitting on some lettuce pieces. I have eaten at Little Big Burger and other places that neatly WRAP your burger in lettuce so you can handle it, the same as a bun allows you to do. This was definitely not that. It was a mess and I felt really self-conscious trying to eat it. Aside from being less than impressed with the processed American "cheese" and translucent fast food bacon that I mentioned above. I thought maybe the burger itself was the real star, so I focused on how that that tasted. It seemed a pretty average burger patty. Not dried out, but not succulent and juicy. There was minimal seasoning to it. It was forgettable. As far as the fries, well, fries are definitely subjective because it depends on what kind you like. Some people like thick jo jo-esque steak fries, some like curly fries, some like crispy shoestring fries. I definitely prefer fries on the thinner side. These are skin on, slightly thicker fries. So they were never going to be something I went gaga for. They're the same style fries as you'd buy at Wendy's, except Wendy's (in my opinion) are hotter, fresher, and better seasoned. My boyfriend was equally unimpressed, especially when you factor in the price we paid for a burger and fries. We won't be returning, no doubt.
