I really like this place, and if you are wanting a quick and tasty burger and fries this is a good option. They use fresh potatoes to deep fry, not frozen. I loved that you could help yourself to peanuts in the shell to snack on while they were preparing your order (unfortunately due to Covid, that is not available right now). What a disappointment! The burgers here are super processed and taste like stadium fare. We got 2 double burgers and the meat tastes like the low quality factory farm sausage patty from like 10 different cows. Plus the cheese well I haven't had cheese slices since I was seven. Hot Dog and Fry Review! A Five Guys just opened in Capilano and I was really excited to go inside and I have never been. Craving a hot dog which we hoped was made to be one of the best hotdogs I would ever have. NOT! lol!! We went inside and were greeted with a wave of grease that stuck into the air and began to settle onto my skin and hair. OMG I felt it layer on my eye lashes!!! My friend ordered a hot dog and I asked if they had a chicken or vegetarian substitute. As you can tell I knew nothing of Five Guys before I went in, Yes im vegetarian, but its 2014 and options are easily available and didn't know this was a beef only facility. After I place my order the girl bluntly said no to me, so I said Id try what was the only vegetarian option on the menu hanging above, the vegetable sandwich, which I was denied. I was told I couldn't have it because they didn't have any. But they are putting the veggie stuff on the burgers? Maybe the had to bread, who knows im guessing here. I just think I was refused because they didn't want to make it. She could have recommended something but I was not welcome there. Bad me for not liking beef. So I settled with nibbling on my friends fries and pop. Big Mistake!!! With number called smy friwnd returned with a greasy splocky brown bag that made me laugh out loud. My friends hot dog was glistening with grease or oil, I swear if you stared into that bun you would be able to see your own refection or better yet your future. By the way, if you are going to charge these high prices for a hot dog at least put some effort and make it gourmet or make it the best damn hotdog you would ever have, seriously try to use real cheese, a bun made for an adult and not some piddly cold cheese slice. Better yet why don't you try to make it taste good! So by this point our attention went to the fries that had so much salt on it burned the corners of our lips and chunked up into the front of our throats and stomach. As I took a sip of pop it seemed to foam from the salt that was so generously added and made it burn and I swear dislodge into a block of newly formed salt! I swear if there was a slug hiding within a five block radius it would have died from it effects as the greasy veil carried that pound of salt that I wiped off the one single fry I was holding and float heavily out the door. I had eaten at this establishment before in England and wanted to try the Canadian version and was not disappointed. Based on the other reviews here, it must have been their quiet hour when we arrived because the floors and tables were spotless, no loose peanuts to be found. The burgers were phenomenal. A bit crispy on the edges but not in a burnt way, they were delicious. Haha too many fries! Don't get me wrong they were salty bundles on awesome but dang we ordered too much. Visited Five Guys for a family meal on Sunday - our first time to this restaurant, although we had been meaning to go there for some time. The menu selection was limited to burgers, fries, and hot dogs - so don't bring the vegetarian in your family. The food was tasty and large portions, we all enjoyed it. Service was friendly and prompt. HOWEVER, the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. The room was very noisy as a result of a large fan/space heater over the door that was blowing constantly. I just can't help myself when it comes to this place, it's as though I can't say no. It's a fun burger shack with a classic decor meant to look like the back in the day drive ins. You walk in, check the menu, talk to the counter staff and let them know what toppings and extras you would like according to the board menu. The only thing I've noticed is that the bag is no longer overfilled with fries......that was a nice touch, remember that marketing video we had to watch in high school- "give them the pickle" it can be found on YouTube and is still used in beginner marketing classes today because......you should always give that extra, it's what makes an impression, has people talk and gets customers coming back. Anyway, I always get my burger loaded with jalapeños, bacon, pickles, onions, mustard, ketchup and some mayo. The pop sizes are quite large and the fry portions average. I ordered a cheese burger, fries, and a coke. The total cost of the meal was ~ $14. Time waited for order: 30 mins. The burger had a regular sesame seed bun, greyish yellow processed cheese, iceberg lettuce, and onions on it. If it didn't have a slight taste of residual diluted bleach (which it did, I'm assuming from the incorrectly rinsed off food preparation surface), I would compare it with an average tasting burger from your average local mom and pop diner. The fries, were horrible. 1/2 of them were small slivered end pieces burned beyond consumption, and I had to dig my burger out from underneath them, because the fool working in the kitchen dumped the cup of fries on top of it before he gave me the bag. Also, they use Idaho potatoes. Why use Idaho, when there are readily available Kennebec potatoes? Oh right, because they're cheaper. Way overcooked, and over seasoned. Do yourself a favour, save your time & money and support your local Mom and Pop diner, or pub. Much more for your dollar. This place is 100% hype. read more

These guys continue to hit it out of the park. Offering good burgers and great service, this location of Five Guys is recommended. Protip: as it will likely strike you as being dry and uninspired, avoid getting a plain burger; the bacon cheeseburger is the way to roll here. You don't need fries, either, as free peanuts are available to all. When both of the foregoing are combined with a complementary cup of water, you'll be betting a better meal for the same price than you would at McDonald's, Wendy's, A&W, Harvey's, Burger King, etc. read more

My husband and I have been to this location twice since it opened up. The food was average and the portions were large. Again free refills are a bonus as eating peanuts while you wait makes you thirsty. Shelling the peanuts and putting the shells on the floor is the expected process however I find it odd and will take a separate holder to place the shells in. Clean up of the shells on the floor is slow. They do have plenty of topping choices and you can have as few or as many as you would like. As all orders are made to order the process can be slower then standard fast food places. Share the fries as there are plenty in the bag and extras thrown in for good measure. The only comment I have is that when your order is ready they call your number so you can pick up your order. They do not have an intercom and quite often you can not hear the caller over the music, even when the restaurant is not full. Make sure someone at your table is able to see the caller so you can read their lips when they call your number. read more

Had to find out what the hype was about, so I went to Five Guys last week with a coworker. I'd heard the portions were HUGE and that you don't need to order much. Wish I'd heard about the crazy prices, too. I normally go all in when trying out a new place, but even I balked at a normal burger and a drink when I saw how much it was going to cost me. Upon walking in, I found a big menu board with all my options. I ordered a small burger and small cajun fries with no drink. Helps to know that when ordering your meal, you also need to tell them what toppings and condiments you'd like. At this point, I paid and was given my receipt with my number on it. Sit down and wait. I noticed some people eating peanuts, and found a big box with peanuts where you can grab what you want. My coworker grabbed some, but didn't eat much as he said they weren't salted and didn't taste good. I declined to eat any as I'm a normal sized guy and figured I needed to leave as much room as possible. After about 15 minutes a girl screamed out my order number and I grabbed my brown bag of food. No lie, they do give you a giant order of fries. Kind of disappointed that I had to dig through a bunch of fries before I could get my burger out. Why not put the fries on the bottom and the burger on top? I wound up having to grab extra napkins and making myself a plate, because there was nothing else for me to dump all the fries on. I ate my burer first, and was kind of disappointed. The patty wasn't all that big, and unfortunately tasted pretty dry. Funny though, the burger still dripped a lot of grease. Normally a greasy burger doesn't taste dry, so I don't know what went wrong there. I'm not a huge eater, but I should have ordered the bigger burger. The fries were okay, but I wasn't impressed with them. They were soft and mushy, which is not really a style I'm fond of. My coworker said he loves them soft, but I'd rather have a bit of crisp to them. The cajun seasoning was the biggest disappointment, though. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good, either. After eating about half the fries I was still kind of hungry, but was so tired of the cajun seasoning I just gave up. Greasy burger, mushy fries, crappy cajun flavour and crazy prices. Just had lunch at five guys burgers in south Edmonton common. The location is clean. Staff was friendly and quick. The food was delicious. I ordered a cheese burger with all toppings. I didnt know it came with a double patty. The portions were perfect size. The fries were great but overkill. I probably threw away half the fries. I had seen the Five guys restarants around and was by myself so I thought I would try it. Thank god I was alone, as my son has a severe peanut allergy .There should be a warning on the door as some people have air borne peanut allergies so if they walk in...) and there were no warnings except on the box of free peanuts after I ordered and realized thats what they were. They should also have a big sign that they use peanut oil in the fries, as had I not noticed it under the box of peanuts - big vats of peanut oil...hence a warning on the counter would be a good thing. My child could have eaten them if I took them out and I would have been none the wiser. There is no other chain that I know that uses peanut oil for fries. I decided to try it as I was alone - the burger was okay but the fries were soggy and throwing them on top sucks as they are hot and getting to the burger underneath was a challenge. The best burger I have eaten in Edmonton was at Soda Jerks and around the same price - and it is a sit down restarant but have always been served as fast! They also have wiki-sticks to keep the kids busy, very fun and trendy! read more

I went one to this location, around the time they opened and was ok, I returned today and it wasn't any good, the burger was tiny, literally half an inch all around from the bun, the meat was tasteless so I got some salt and pepper by the soda machine and when I opened the burger I noticed how they made it thick in the center but really thin toward the corner. In my way out I took a look at the grill and not all patties looked the same, there were some regular size but others were smaller; and some thinner than others. There was a small line, and we didn't have to wait long for the two burgers, but I don't mind to wait a bit more if they take the time to do good patties. The mushrooms tasted exactly as those out of a can, so I guess they were out of a can, there was no freshness in the toppings, we dumped some out of the burger and I'm not really picky with anything that goes in my burgers. It's a pricey place and without a quality and flavor to justify it, I have get cheaper and better burgers at Harveys. If I'm around the zone again, I'll go to IKEA and it will be much better eating. read more
