A double patty burger without cheese from 5 Guys in Largo Florida.
    John B.

I went to the 5 Guys restaurant in Largo Florida 10125 Ulmerton Road Tuesday night January 23,2024 at 8:20pm. The place was empty I was the only customer. After looking up at the menu prices I could see why, the price of a double patty burger without cheese was a whopping $9.99 plus tax which came to $10.27. I ordered one double patty burger without cheese. When I got home I weighed it out on a cooking scale and it only weighed 10.6 ounces thats ridiculous for that price. Needless to say I won't be eating at 5 Guys anymore unless they lower their prices.

Five guys is the perfect in between of fast food burger and restaurant quality burger. Price is directly in the middle too, making it proportionate to the dollar value of what you're pay for. One thing five guys never fails to impress me with is the getting the order to people hot AF. They legit pick the patty off the grill, drop it on the burger, and bag it up for you while it's still piping. And pro tip: you're allowed to order extra extra extra bacon at no extra charge on the bacon burger. At this one location back in Wesley chapel the guy that knew me would legit put 6 strips of bacon in the bag for me plus load my burger with it lol. Love this place, it's been consistent for years

    That is a beautiful thing,

I was impressed. A big fat juicy bacon cheeseburger. Fresh out of the wrapper it looked like it could go onto a billboard. It looked amazing. It tasted great. The fries were old-school made from real potatoes and peanut oil and cooked to perfection. There were bags of potatoes in the lobby to show that the fries were made from scratch. The chocolate malt was magical. Five Guys is a lot like In and Out Burger, a simple menu with just a few items made to a high standard, but this was a little better. My son told me that Shaq - the basketball guy owned 150 of these Five Guys restaurants. Somehow that makes sense, I always liked him. He seems to stand for value. They give out free peanuts by the way. There is a giant bin of peanuts on the counter with a scoop and some containers. I had not eaten peanuts in twenty years. They were fun but messy and probably the reason I could not finish my burger. While we were there, two people came in and just got peanuts, kind of a brilliant way to give a little back to the community. I was surprised that there were five guys working there. Somehow I had not figured that out. Overall a great burgering experience. I was impressed by this place.

    Priced well!

Well, I think for the price and for what it is (a hamburger joint) the seating is fine and any fried food has grease. It's just more noticeable in a paper bag instead of a cardboard box or on a real plate. So they have two vegetarian sandwich options: a grilled cheese and a veggie sandwich with or without cheese. The veggie sandwich is awesome, better than I thought it would be. Cold crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, I think 2 slices of cheese, soft bun and hot grilled green peppers, mushrooms and onions. I love their fries and I like that the fries are hand cut, fresh, not frozen. Good portions. Super nice staff. And free roasted salted peanuts as well as free drink refills. My cousin orders her fries "Soft and limp" (lol) and my mom orders hers "crispy". They have bottles of malted vinegar if you're into that.

One of the really interesting things about Daddy Dawg's is that they offer several premium brands of hotdogs to choose from (at slightly different prices). This includes Nathan's, Sabrett & Vienna as well as a couple of others. As usual, I had to try several things on the menu. I had the 6" Chicago beef with mild giardiniera (slightly disappointing that they don't offer a hot giardiniera), a Nathan's hotdog with chili & cheese, and a Nathan's hotdog with sauerkraut and mustard. I really liked the flavor of the chili and I was happy that they sauerkraut was hot. Some of the other choices were a foot long hotdog with bacon and cheese, a double cheeseburger and chicken nuggets for 2 of the kids. The French fries seemed just ok, not as good as the other things. As you can see on the menu, they offer a number of other options too. They have hand scooped ice cream as well as several famous ice cream bars from my childhood. All in all, a fun experience and everyone seemed happy with their lunch. The servers were efficient, the food came out fairly quickly and one of our servers was incredibly friendly and helpful. I think the 4 yr old boy in our group had a crush on her. The atmosphere / decor is just ok but it doesn't really detract from the experience. I would definitely come back again.

The Food: Everything was exactly how it should be. We ordered three plain coneys, a chilito with spaghetti and bean, and a chili cheese fry. The flavors were spot on, the perfect comfort meal! The Atmosphere & Service: The server was incredibly friendly and attentive. I was also really impressed by how well-maintained the restaurant was; the dining area and the bathrooms were spotless. A huge plus was seeing hand sanitizer available at every single table, it's clear they prioritize cleanliness here. The "Vibes": What really made the experience special was the authentic Cincinnati atmosphere. They even sell Grippo's chips and Graeter's ice cream! It was so much fun seeing all those local staples while being in Florida. If you're craving a 3-way or some coneys, this is definitely the spot to go. We will be back!

I ordered a small 5-Way for $8.59 thinking I would get more than the absurdly minuscule serving dish filled with a countable number of beans and spaghetti noodles, a tablespoon or two of chili and a smattering of onions beneath a deceptively fluffy and tall nest of finely shredded cheese. I get it - I ordered the small. Still yet, in most "step-above fast food" restaurants you typically get more than what you pay for, certainly not less. Add to it a five-dollar bottle of Coors Light that wasn't any better or any colder than the $3.50 bottles that seems to be the off-beach norm for these type places. When this location first opened I recall getting a sample for about the same size of that which I just paid nearly 9 bucks for. I made quick work of my costly lunch and nurtured my normally cheap beer in an effort to feel as if there were some sort of value to what amounted to be a small, costly, albeit tasty $16.62 afternoon snack. I'm sure I'll be back in a year or two when the mood hits, but it's certainly not a place I'd frequent regularly.

Extra napkins are required, and yes I dripped some cheese on my khakhis! Woops! The hotdog is again delicious. The chili topping mild but definitely house made. There was nothing left after other than the little stain on my pants lol. Inside is pretty small. I'd guess 15 tables ( a mix of round tops and booths). Their service? Excellent. I was surprised to see how many team members were working. At least 4 to 5. Listening while eating, I could hear one team member training another. Loved that. It also appeared they were very supportive of each other and better? Having fun doing it. The response I got was, "Oh, is it too big for you?!" LOL! My response; "no, but it is spilling out all over the place." Well, with her attitude, (snicker snicker), I decided that it was a challenge. I got half way through and I was stuffed. Holy cow this thing IS huge! Did I finish it? Damn straight I did! The down side was it was like eating water. There was barely any flavor. The bread was cold to the touch... and I would have thought that with all of that meat that it would be scrumptious. No. I grew up in Boston. I KNOW what a good Philly cheese steak is. That week, I had two more sandwiches at different locations. YUP... that's what it's supposed to taste like. I have no idea what was missing in the first mentioned one. I wish I knew because I would have kindly mentioned it to them. By the way. There is a place called Schooners that has served THE BEST Philly sandwich.
