Too crowded most of the time, but its a good place to hit up if your hungry around 3pm. Thats when the line is non-existant. Burgers are a little more expensive than I like, but the quality is there. Fresh ingredients, greasy, and tasty. I dont recommend getting everything on your burger. I tried that twice and It made me hate this place. When I lived on the east coast for awhile, I was introduced to Five Guys and fell in love with the place, so I was surprised & excited to find out that one had opened in Albuquerque. It was everything that I had remembered. HUGE burgers (their 'regular' burgers are two large patties vs. one patty on their 'junior' burgers), and tons of toppings. The menu is simple: Regular or Junior Burger, and an option to add cheese and/or bacon. After that, all the toppings are no extra charge. I got the Bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, ketchup, mustard, and pickles. The burger itself was large enough that they had to use two of their foil wrappers to contain it.! I also got a regular order of fries, which was overflowing! Seriously, I was stuffed afterwards. Soft Drinks had free refills, which (although becoming more standard) is a nice touch. The atmosphere was very fast-food typical: red & white tiles, classic rock blaring loudly from the speakers, patio seating as well. What I really liked was there was A TON of staff working. They got my order in and cooked (to order) very quickly! I was there at a 'slow period,' (about 3 pm) and there must have been 8-10 people on staff. The rating would have been 5 stars had they offered Green Chile. I understand the franchises trying to remain consistent, but it's New Mexico! Green chile is practically a requirement! Bought a hotdog at five guys and I wasn't to happy. Five guys is normally pretty tasty. But this time it wasn't to good. I ordered a hotdog and the hotdog seem like it was from the night or two before. It was horrible, dried out and rank, so I don't think I'll be ordering or going there again. So while I was in Albuquerque - Five Guys was a must. A favorite of my friend's - who live on the east coast for a long while - she practically threw herself on the top of some guy's car because he was wearing the shirt and wanted to know if there was one in town. Clearly - good burgers. Their fries were awsome. Nice and crisp, not too crunchy. I hear that they are the most unhealthy fries out there. Well, they taste great, maybe that's why. For fast food burgers, these are definitely better than most, but still not a place I'd go back to often. Burgers are cooked one way -- fried well done. (I prefer mine medium rare and grilled though I realize that doesn't happen at fast food places very often.) Service IS quick, but it has to be as there is always a long line. It's also always loud -- I can't image sitting in there to eat. People brag about the fries but aside from the fact that they give you a ton of them, I thought they were only okay. FINALLY! Five Guys in Albuquerque! The location is a bit iffy though- its close to the Paseo Del Norte exit off I-25 but just getting to the plaza itself is a bit headachey. This place was like hustle and bustle. Anyone who knows me knows that there is nothing I love better than a big juicy burger. There must be 5 guys inspecting each one of these burgers before they go out because mine was fresh upon arrival! It was even steaming as I unwrapped it from its foil. Piled with at least two layers of crispy bacon and melted cheese. You better believe I ate that thing in just a few bites. The best thing about this place is that they use fresh ingredients even with the spicy French fries, which they overload into a paper bag. If I could give the customer service of the manager on duty here negative stars, I would. Jaylene(sp) the manager on duty at this location is horrible. Perhaps working with people is not in her wheel house. She is rude, unprofessional, condescending, and answers the phone like she's a hostage. When calling back to find out her bosses name, she tried to stonewall and hide the General Managers name by trying to say she's the only manager I'm able to speak with. I love five guys! When I lived in D.C. This was my go to place for burgers. When five guys first opened in ABQ I was so excited but it took going a couple of times after they opened to get the five guys experience I was used to! First off, the little cheese burger comes with one meat patty and the regular cheese burger comes with two. The bun is always moist enough to not dry your mouth out with the first bite but dry enough to stand up to the toppings you can select. The meat patty which covered in delicious cheesy perfection, is perfectly sized so that the meat and cheese do not overwhelm the other toppings you choose to add. I like the style of getting to decide exactly what goes on my burger. Toppings are appropriately proportioned so that the burger is appropriately messy! The fries are wonderful! The smaller portion is enough for two people! I enjoy knowing that the location of where the potatoes that make the fries is always listed. The fries have a crisp but also a chew to them that allow you to appreciate that fries come from potatoes! I also appreciate that they have both ketchup and vinegar options for the fries! I really do like this store. The burgers are excellent with reasonable pricing and a team that hates excessive fake-service-fluff but likes being attentive, yet real. The restaurant is logically laid out, and it flows. Although the restaurant is a franchise, it doesn't suffer from the same fake factor irritating qualities other recent restaurant entrants to the area suffer from. Notes worthy of mention: Ordering French fries at this store isn't a simple proposition. They often give you what seems like easily one pound of fries that take most of the space in the brown paper bag they are served in. One order is probably good for 2-3 people or 4 oompa loompas depending on your party size. The downsides: this place is Jam packed busy most of the time. It churns out burgers quickly but there often isn't enough seating in the restaurant to seat the number of people who visit here. I really hope the ownership considers adding more stores to the ABQ market as demand for the product seems to frequently exceed what they can churn out. The other major downside is the sheer BOOMING noise of the restaurant. It's loud. It's Obnoxious. It's 80's. The fries at Five Guys are fantastic and almost as good as "chips" from back in England. Don't get the Cajun flavored fries, just the regular ones, but then make sure to pick up a bottle of malt vinegar and splash that onto your fries. The burgers at Five Guys are not as good in my opinion. Yes you can get lots of toppings for free, but the bun is very stodgy and almost seems like it is day old or something? The meat/patty is always over cooked to my liking. Given we don't have an In-N-Out or Freddy's (yet) I do like going to Five Guys to have their fries, but I find myself ordering a smaller and smaller burger each time as I don't enjoy them as much. read more

Used to go to 5 Guys all the time when the wife (aka Vicki S) and I were stationed on the east coast. I just don't get the obsession some people have with this place. It's a decent burger for $8.50. I can get a decent burger for half that somewhere else. Throw in a 'little' order of fries and a drink, and you're at $14.50. Jesus. When did the smallest order of fries for a single person arrive at $3?? "Oh you don't get it, Brian! They give you a whole bag of fries, because the container is overflowing with them!" I don't need that many fries, nor does anyone else that doesn't routinely eat until they rupture their stomach. Maybe I'm getting old, but $2.50 for a small soft drink? As for the burger itself, it was fine. I guess it's considered clever to wad it up in a piece of foil so that the bun's a shell of itself. The burger is actually two patties (again, you're paying for it, it's not a bonus), and it tasted pretty good. The toppings are your choice, so I chose jalapeňo's and sauteed mushrooms. Wow! I love this place! I'm from L.A. and visiting family in Albuquerque. I took my family over here for the first time. As I expected. They loved it! The food and time it took to get it were typical for this restaurant. However on this visit, the music was so LOUD that the cashier had trouble hearing me place my order. And I had trouble hearing her read it back. She said that she would tell the manager that the music was too loud, but apparently that didn't change anything. I completed the online survey from my receipt, hoping I could point out the screaming music there, but there was no way to leave comments on the survey. lunch hour on a saturday may not have been the ideal time to sample this venue. it was loud. there was a line. and hardly any seating. in order to overcome those faults, the food has to deliver. but alas it falls short. i give you that it comes as a whopping double patty stack and ordered 'all-the-way' -- all the trimmings minus the mayo [lettuce/tomato/fried onions/ mushrooms/pickles/ketchup/mustard]. it was filling but it was fried, cooked only one way: well-done with a forgettable bun. that any one's preference - i like mine a pinkish medium rare-- cannot be accommodated tells me that the meat must not be the best. i like bobcat bites'. i like five stars', i like jackson hole's [in nyc]. i love savoy's. and like fuddruckers'. i've also been known to gnaw on a flame broiled at BK twice a year. i may return just once more to confirm that it is not over-hyped. read more

Heard the absurd hype about this place-finally decided to try it since they moved into the Burque. Decided to simply try the basic small burger (w/tax about $4)to give it a basic go. Yep, it is small. Yep, it is overpriced by at least a one dollar. Iceberg lettuce-wow, how pedestrian. Tomatoes-OK but I also got an end slice which sucked. Bun-standard issue. Quality of the beef? Fine but nothing amazing. This reminds me of the marketing behind Heineken. The Dutch know zero about beer (the Belgians are the kings of it) but they market and brainwash everyone about the "need" to be part of the craze. read more

Although the ordering process moves along at a good clip, there is not enough seating even when you include the outdoor patio. Why is that? I got a little (one patty) bacon cheeseburger. It was okay. Nothing amazing but certainly not gross. I was really impressed that the bacon was actually crispy! We also got an order of Five Guys style fries and Cajun fries. Both were fine but definitely preferred the Cajun fries. The regular and large fries are HUGE so share unless you're really hungry. First the small fry is enough to feed two grown men who lLOVE to eat fries. Second they have to burger listings on the menu. Now as every other burger joint I have been to, a junior, small, lil or mini burger means just that. Not here a little burger means one meat with reg bun and the regular burger means two meats.
