She was incredibly welcoming and I came into her office unable to move my left arm without significant discomfort. After about 45 minutes of treatment I left with so much less pain! It was incredible and the way she stayed with me and helped ease not only my physical pain but relaxed me as well saved me from excruciating pain. If I lived in the area I would surely visit her at least once a week knowing the benefits of consistent treatment. I started seeing Elizabeth and Steven, who set me up on a twice-a-week plan for a few weeks, then once a week after that, and it actually worked. My pain dropped dramatically, and I began looking forward to each session. If you've never been to a community-style acupuncture clinic, it might feel a little different at first: a big, peaceful room filled with recliners (each with its own colorful sheet) and everyone in full relaxation mode. You get comfy, they pop in the needles, and suddenly you're in the most blissful nap of your life. Elizabeth (the owner) and Steven are both amazing - super knowledgeable, collaborative, and they actually read your chart and adjust your treatment each time based on how you're feeling. She incorporates sound therapy with massage and has mastered skill sets in several other modalities including shiatsu, pregnancy massage, cupping, and energy work. She uses smooth, heated jade stones for targeted heating. Jade stones are known to be imbued with healing properties. Her space is safe and has a feeling of sacredness about it. She is highly intuitive, and understands the body in multi-dimensional ways, unlike anyone I have ever been to. She is thoughtful, warm, safe, and extremely attentive.. My first session was a gift from a family member that lasted 90 minutes and ended with a half hour or so of sound therapy using gongs and Singing bowls. I left feeling positively altered at levels I can scarcely describe. I wanted to go back, and discovered that she was booked out 6 to 8 weeks in advance. I've been seeing her for over a year, and I've never once had a session that was anything less than stellar. Many massage therapists, even very skillful ones, will occasionally find themselves "just going through the motions," but Jordanna has always found the time and energy to put serious thought into our sessions. I'm always amazed at how willing she is to take some extra time to figure out what's going on with my body and mind and how she can help me. She's wonderful at managing all the little factors that can cause distractions during a session (noise level, draping issues, etc.), and making sure I'm able to drift off and let myself relax. She's also a great communicator. Jordanna is interested in learning from any and all sorts of massage traditions and modalities, but is also serious about making sure there is some scientific or concrete basis to believe that her methods can be genuinely beneficial. Basically I bring this up to point out that while she has interest in methods that some may consider "alternative," I've never once felt uncomfortable discussing my thoughts or skepticism of a given practice, and she always adapts her practices to my needs and interests. In this way she's introduced me to techniques that I may never have sought out previously, with wonderful results. Alot of acupuncturists just want to stick needles in and are uncomfortable discussing the herbal part or your other overall health care needs. She knew enough to help guide me through other issues. She is confident enough to come up with herbal remedies or other ideas other than just needles. She is not pushy about it. If you want just an herbal remedy I am sure she would do a consult for that and you can buy them there or order elsewhere maybe.
