Arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and it was dead in here. Only one other table of customers so the place wasn't giving off the typical up-beat, energetic vibes we were hoping for like a typical brewery. The workers didn't help either - it seemed like the guy taking orders didn't want to be there. The inside is fine. The beer was solid. My fav was their peach sour. We had a pretzel and my wife said it was one of the best she's had. It was good but the beer cheese was NOT good - had to settle for the mustard. It's worth noting the area around the brewery is run down and sketchy. I was wondering if my car would still be there when we left. No real interest in returning after such an average first impression.

Compared to other breweries this one is lacking quite a bit. Beers were all pretty average and they didn't seem to be doing much creatively. I asked for a sticker and the bartender said they were about to go through a name change so no sticker I could purchase for my collection. Coolest thing about it is the inside which is upstairs and a nice big taproom.

Came in on a Sunday for a fundraiser. Cool place. The staff was really pleasant other than one grumpy guy... but he came around... lol The beer selection was pretty good, some variety and different types. The pizza was quite good and I'd go back for it. Industrial vibe with mostly high tops. There is an elevator but it wasn't operating that day. The only suggestions I'd have is add Bottled water, that would be nice and we were told they didn't have ice, but they serve soda so that would be nice. We will be back again.

Love the name, honestly I didn't know about this place, I was just looking for a place to hangout before my show. And I'm so glad I stumbled upon it... coz now I come here mainly for the beer. The taproom looks like a factory space ...very spacious, exposed brick walls, large windows.. bright. Plenty seating at the table or a bar (which is my preferred spot). They have 10-12 beers on tap ...the usuals pale ale/ lagers stouts...hard ciders etc drafts (12-16oz) $6-$8. Five oz tasters are $2-$3. Growlers are $8-$13. I usually build my own flight.. but my fav is the "not too shandy" it's such an easy drink.. esp in the summer .. just perfect. Pairs perfectly with the wood fired Pizza ... a thin crust personal pie that you can make however you like. They have table games, a pinball machine, photo booth.. live music and karaoke.. trivia nights .. look for the schedule. A second floor outdoor patio apt for summers. Come check it out if you are in the area... it's worth it!!

Not sure if they're connected with an actual church but sweet mother Mary, the brews were amazing! The "Breast Beer in Town" was my favorite. Smooth and a little sweet. I'm not a beer drinker so I was thoroughly impressed. Highly recommend and definitely would come again!

Das Froot: Blackcurrant, Blueberry & Vanilla

Five Churches Brewery is located in New Britain. I'll be honest, I didn't find the area to be particularly safe, from walking from my car to the brewery. But once I stepped inside, it was a world of a difference. It was a brightly lit brewery, with five Christmas trees, behind the bar. There were families with kids, playing card games and enjoying their tasty looking pizzas! I found my friend waiting for me at the bar tops. We ordered pretty similar beers. I got Das Froot: Blackcurrant, Blueberry & Vanilla. This was a nice raspberry color, with a strong sour blueberry flavor, and it had the most pleasant vanilla scent, and aftertaste. It was pretty confusing, but a tasty confusing. My friend had a similar one with a different base, that also had a vanilla scent and aftertaste. We both really enjoyed these. The space inside is really nice, with their large, church like windows and a very old feel. This is a very nice brewery, that had some great sours, pizza and plenty of other beers for your enjoyment.

Stopped in for lunch today with friends. Outstanding service, great beer selection, menu included other spirts as well, and great food choices. Elevated bar food for sure. My husband and I shared the pretzel charcuterie and the pineapple burger. So good. We had a variety of beers, I had the prickle pear sour. Loved it.

Still one of my favorite places - always multiple beers i like, pizza is top notch and their pretzels rock. Haven't try the dessert pretzel yet but it is on my list, Love how they support the area by having a party area at the new Britain Bees and they do different fundraisers each month - if you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for ?

What a cool place! My friend took me there for a few beer. I've been to enough breweries to kind of know what to expect, but this one exceeded the expectations. It is very spacious, and we were quickly seated at a table. We got a few beers, and eventually the brick oven pizza started to look more and more appealing, so we ended up with a delicious Margherita Pizza. I had a few glasses of Amburlance, the amber ale, and it was fantastic. Service was also great. Can't wait to go back again and try more beers and food that they have to offer.

Great place for food and beer. The atmosphere is inviting and definitely will be back to try some of the other new beers.

I stopped by this brewery while walking around at Farmington. I ordered one of their fruity sours and an IPA. The sour beer was very fruity and had an almost smoothie like texture. It was refreshing and enjoyable. The IPA tasted like your typical New England. Overall it is a pretty enjoyable place to sit down and chill.

Great space! Seating occupies the upstairs of this former coat factory. Bright and airy with tons of windows and natural light. Oh yeah, the beer ain't bad either!

Ask the Community - Five Churches Brewing

I have been here before and have ordered the pizza but was wondering if outside food is allowed?

No outside food is allowed. In addition to pizza, they have pretzels and charcuterie

Are kids allowed?

At 5 Churches our little enjoyed pizza, an Avery's soda, and a little screen time as we enjoyed our brews. Just keep them occupied, same as anywhere. :)

Will they fill growlers from other breweries? Thanks

They didn't seem to have an issue with it while we were there

Although his professional background was in advertising, Sigman had been an avid homebrewer since 1994. Eventually he decided to open his own brewery. Sigman chose the name "Relic" to reference his world travels. Aiming to craft artisanal ales inspired by flavors from around the world, he thought of himself as more of a chef than a brewer. Sigman doesn't brew beer based on which styles are trendy, but rather beers that he personally enjoys with tastes that he views as complimentary or exciting. I have visited Relic Brewing multiple times since I first became serious about craft beer in 2013. At that time, Relic was one of maybe 10 breweries in the state (today there are over 100). Of those original 10, only half remain in business. The taproom was very small during my initial visit: about 10 square feet and they only served small free samples. I recently stopped there with my older son because it occurred to me that I hadn't been there in at least 10 years. A lot had changed! In 2016, a full bar was added and Relic began to serve full pint pours as well as craft cocktails. A large back room addition opened in 2019, which featured a fully furnished lounge and a pinball arcade slowly evolved. When I first arrived, I ordered a taster flight which featured "Oktoberfest", "Nebraska IPA", "The Whim" (New England IPA), and "Double Whim" (Double New England IPA). I grabbed my flight and headed to the back room with my son. He was so excited to play the pinball machines and other various arcade games. The two of us had a nice father-son bonding experience playing pinball as I also enjoyed my beer samples; the "Oktoberfest" was my favorite! If you like great beer paired up with pinball, then head down to Relic Brewing!

They've since expanded the size of their tasting room into another huge, open space full of high tops and comfortable lounge seating along with a bar mixing up creative cocktails. The new space also has tons of pinball machines and other games. We stopped in after a movie on a Friday at about 6:30. There were a few groups hanging out but it wasn't too busy at all. It was pretty chill vibe, and I got the sense that a lot of locals frequent them, which is cool. We hung out for nearly two hours and by the time we left the only other folks there were at the bar in the front room. The beer is still good! I did want to try some of their cocktails though. They have some pretty creative cocktails made with interesting homemade syrups, shrubs, and the like. I tried the Honey Don't which was tart but well balanced. I wished it was a little spicier, but I am a spice fiend. Then I felt for something a little sweeter so I went with the Poolside gossip. All the different ingredients really combined into a unique and delicious flavor! I really enjoyed what they have going on. The space was comfortable and relaxed and there's something on their drinks menu for literally everyone, plus entertainment. They have small snacks available, but you're also welcome to bring your own food. So it's basically like a very relaxed bar. We'll definitely be stopping in more frequently!

I loved the aesthetic of the two rooms we were in. Although the decorations were brought by the party for the event, you could still tell the space had great bones. I loved the hanging pothos from the ceiling rods. The food was delicious, although a bit run of the mill. I did not drink but I heard others raving about the selection of beer. I'd definitely come back in the warm weather and see what it's about on a casual day.

Doyle works in the financial services industry, but had wanted to open his own brewery for a number of years. A friend introduced him to Dee: a homebrewer with an education background in biomedical science. Atkins, a huge craft beer fan, came on board for the project after Doyle and Dee started getting serious about opening their own brewery. A logo, business plan, and financing were put together. Although the brand was founded in 2015, it took nearly two years to find the right location. In 2017, New Park opened at The Shops at 485 New Park: a former ball bearings factory turned multi-media venue. New Park's mission is to offer consumers the highest quality beverages and experiences that they possibly can. In recent years, the brewery has also begun producing intervention wines, heirloom cider, and sourdough pizza in addition to their artisanal brews. I first visited New Park Brewing in March 2018, when they had just turned a year old. I was very impressed from that first visit and they quickly became one of my Top 5 favorite Connecticut breweries. I recently visited the taproom for the second time ever. I had heard that they started crafting artisanal sourdough pizza pies in recent years and wanted to try them paired up with their excellent beer. I love the whole industrial design vibe that's going on inside the taproom. Since my initial visit, the brewery has also since added an outdoor biergarten and an indoor private event space with a stage and bar (dubbed "The Green Room"). I started off with a short pour of one of my go-tos: "Cloudscape" (IPA). It's delicious, hazy, and full of citrus and tropical fruit notes. For pizza, I ordered the "Soppressata" (red sauce, fior di latte, mozzarella, soppressata, red onion, goat cheese, honey, grana padano) and the "Chef Special" (pecorino cream, fior di latte, mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto, balsamic glaze, grana padano). To pair with them, I ordered a sampler flight which featured "Little Cloud" (IPA), "Steppe" (Barrel-Aged Saison), "Elmwood" (Dry Cider), and "Double Cloud" (Double IPA). Between the stellar brews and the heavenly pizza, I was in pure bliss! There's a reason why New Park is one of my favorite Connecticut breweries; I hope to be back again and again!
