New line block of cheese that was half MOLDY. A bag of Parmesan cheese that wasn't expired but literally tasted like sawdust. Ruined our food. The good: Bag of frozen shrimp was pretty good. Box of frozen samosas was delicious Jars of Paul Newman's spaghetti sauce was good. And, the apples were pretty good! They were by joyfully grown, which I'm pretty sure is an organic product. While shopping, a staff member walked up to me and said, we're now marking everything down. Items that are $14.99 will be $7.99 and items that are $7.99 will be $4.99. I was like ma'am, say less. I went all over the store looking for clothes, tried them on and bought them all. I got over a $900 retail value of clothes for $147. As you know, their clothes are excellent quality and stylish. I got a tip on River Road Flea Market from an acquaintance, who became an acquaintance because I was asking about where to get furniture. Of all the stores and spots she recommended, this was my favorite and definitely the best. It was a little difficult to find because their address online says the city's name is Jefferson and my GPS only recognizes Jefferson as a parish. Now I know it's in New Orleans city, and not all the far away at all. It's located literally right by the river, separated by a grassy bank and the levee. The building is HUGE. It's like a warehouse divided into little rooms, all of which are decorated with amazing antiques and thrifty finds for a fairly reasonable price (about 125 for a desk-sized table, 150 for a wardrobe or dresser). It's not the cheapest spot, but the quality of the merchandise makes up for it. They get most of their merchandise from estate sales, apparently, and the eclectic collection certainly reflects that. Several of the rooms are themed: jewelry, records, children's furniture and toys (there was an amazing vintage rocking chair that I would buy just to anticipate having children... except I'm not), books, etc. Outside in a small gated area, they sell specialty Mexican pottery, most of which is large and would be appropriate for a yard, and wrought iron benches and trellises. I purchased a vintage bracelet for $5, and I can't wait to go back and actually purchase furniture, once I'm moved in! Just don't beat me to it; there's a table and a bedframe that I've already got my eye on...

The small amount of employees they do seem to have are rarely up front to help during check out. There was no employee in sight even after "squeezing the pig"-there version of a bell and yelling out for assistance. I waited 10 minutes just waiting on someone to show up,needless to say I wasn't able to get what I needed that morning. I walked out. The clothes and shoes are categorized by type and color. Most appear to be in pretty good shape. However, the prices are higher. They do have color coded sales, I'm not sure if they change daily or weekly. I found a purse I actually wanted to get a few years ago from Nordstrom, in excellent shape and for a fraction of what I would have paid originally. This store is cash only. They also have some finer shoes, jewelry and leather goods behind the counter. If you have the patience or the time you might find something worthy at Red, White & Blue.
