Normally I'm nervous about checking out new places alone, but this was a perfect solo adventure - the kind of cozy, cramped place that you don't want to have to squeeze past your friends to get around. Meeting Mrs. Cookie, who was just helping out the owner by watching the shop, and Big Boy, the little purse dog running security, also helped ease me into this new experience. Not only was Mrs. Cookie helpful in directing me through the overwhelming sections and willing to help me search for specific authors, but she was so personable and even had quite the interesting tale to tell me about her life - which all seemed so impossible that you would think she were a character from a book. Overall, there was an abundance of hidden treasures if you have the patience to look. I got a copy of Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned, and George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones (in like-new condition) at a great price! Come here for the oldies, but goodies, and the smell of thousands of pages that every book lover adores.

Typically I come to browse and grab any good deals I find, but with minimal time, I let her know which authors I was interested in and she ultimately checked her car after scanning the shelves to get me this series that she was planning on reading herself! They retail 10-12$, but I got them for $8.50 each. Not the world's biggest deal, but cheaper than retail nonetheless. I'm grateful for the effort she put in to find me something to leave with especially so close to her closing time.

We're both moms, and we agreed to raid the place for presents on our way out. This gave us peace of mind for the next five days. No need to run around the French Quarter in search of New Orleans-themed souvenirs. I don't like souvenirs as a rule, especially the cheap breakable stuff you get at tourist-facing gift shops. I've decided, though, that magnets and Christmas ornaments are okay, and was gratified to learn that Ivy had come to the same conclusion. The magnet selection was quite good. I picked two, but there were four or five that would have been acceptable. I had less success with the Christmas ornaments, but that was okay, as my kids don't ask for those. I also picked up a New Orleans postcard, which I failed to post for lack of planning and postage. There were self-checkout machines, but also a nice woman working the stand. She pointed me toward the postcards and tried to help me send the one I bought (the lack of postage was determinative). Hudson News also has snacks and drinks and other souvenirs, but you already know that if you've been to the airport, and I'm realizing, too late, that no one needs a five-paragraph review of a chain newsstand. tl;dr if you need New Orleans magnets, this place has you covered.

Lucky for me, this nice-size store had a little bit of everything. We killed some time in the book section and I picked up a fun read. Plenty of snacks, drinks, T-shirts, magazines, smart phone accessories (earbuds, chargers, etc), trinkets, souvenirs and local and collegiate gifts. Something for everybody. Great stop!

He is a 2nd cousin that I have only met once, and that was a couple of years ***cough***read: decades***cough*** ago. Anyway. I know a book is scheduled to come out soon and am looking for one other of his. While I found none of his works here, I did not look too deeply, nor did I ask. I did find a graphic novel of a compilation of fairy tales that I did get. If I were not already nervous about coming into a store that is out of my comfort zone, I would have asked the guy working. Inside is very neat and clean and seemed to be well organized. I went on a weekend morning, and it was not busy at all. This seems to be an awesome place that a comic book or graphic novel person could spend all day in and I don't think the management would mind. There is plenty of parking in front, and this store is nestled in a small strip mall.

On the day that we were here, my friend was looking for something specific, and although they didn't have what she was looking for in store, they offered to order it for her. Of course, they have some rare books that you can buy as well as some collectors items. I'm not really into comic books, but the woman working was super friendly and helpful and showed me around a bit and gave me an idea of what they have. I want to go back and bring David because he loves comic books and I know that he'd appreciate this spot.
