Anyways, I asked her if I could get the darker color for the same price as the lighter one which was $29.99 and Rose looked at the item number and called a manager, Tamara came over and she didnt even bother to check on the tablet for the current price of the item. She just said no. Then I pulled up the item on hobby lobby website and there it is, $29.99 half off is $14 so I went back to Rose and showed her. She called Tamara over again and explained to her. Then Tamara came over and told me she would do it for me this time because online prices are cheaper since it costs shipping and handling? I guess? But regardless it's 50% off right now and the online price matched the store price. It just seemed like Tamara didnt want to deal with me from the beginning. There was no price tag on them, so I politely asked the cashier, Linda, if she could compare them to similar items sold in the store. Linda told me the price would be $15. I asked why, since most similar napkin sets there are usually priced around $12-15 for a full set. She replied that this brand costs twice as much. I then asked what brand it was, and she could not answer me. Instead, she simply said, "Are you taking them or not?" After that, a manager came over and adjusted the price to $7.50. I still bought them, although I was disappointed they were incomplete and only had 4 napkins instead of 8. When I got home, I realized these were clearly returned items. The tags and brand labels had been cut off, which means they had likely already been used, washed, and returned by someone else. So Linda completely misled me about there being some "expensive brand," when in reality there was no visible brand at all. The entire interaction left a very bad feeling. Every time I use the things I bought that day, I will remember this unpleasant shopping experience. I honestly do not think I will return to this HomeGoods again because I do not want to deal with this kind of treatment or dishonesty from an employee. We purchased an outfit set from the Tracy, CA store, only to find when we got home that one of the pieces was missing. My wife went to the Brentwood location to explain the situation and return the item. Everything was going smoothly until the store manager, Jenn, stepped in. Instead of handling the issue professionally, Jenn rudely interrupted the return process and flat-out refused to accept it, citing "company policy" because the item was missing a piece--something that wasn't our fault. My wife was honest and explained what had happened, but Jenn remained cold and dismissive, treating my wife with blatant disrespect in front of other customers. When I called Jenn to discuss the issue, she was extremely rude, interrupting me, and even lost her temper when I questioned the logic behind refusing a return over an $11 item. Jenn repeatedly hid behind "policy," and implied we were at fault. Do you think we would spend $350 on this specific ticket, only to come back and return an $11 item to sneakily keep a pair of shorts at home? Are you implying we stole Jenn? After going back and forth with Jenn for 10 minutes, she said "the best I can do is call the other store tomorrow and hopefully have you go there to solve the problem."
