It had been many years since I visited Fitz's, but went here with some out-of-town company the other day. Fitz's is perfectly located in the Loop across from Blueberry Hill (where we would've gone if the line at Fitz's was too long). This unique spot highlights some of the best of STL: toasted ravioli, those crazy sandwiches with the chili on them, and Kaldi's coffee in cola form. Our service was good enough, but the speed, size, and value of the meals were phenomenal. You don't always get this from a tourist-attraction restaurant, but maybe these traits also lend to Fitz's being so popular. I'm pretty sure our entire table received the order within 10 minutes of placing it; the size of all of the food is humongous (if you consider that a good thing); and the price is definitely not gouging. First time visiting St. Louis with my girlfriend. We wanted someone we know we can't find anywhere else, saw custom sodas, burgers, and root beer floats, so we had to make a visit. If you decide to go, make sure you sit in Kyle's section! What a guy! The sweetest and funniest server I've ever been waited on by. We told him we were new here and he was so helpful and thoughtful. He made me and my girlfriend feel so welcome so fast! Best server I've ever had, honestly! The food was amazing. Pretzel sticks are a must. The burger I got was the King Louis and that was great. This is just a review for Fitz's root beer floats. We stopped by here after eating some Lebanese food for dinner because we were craving some dessert, something rich, decadent, and unhealthy to celebrate a special occasion. The hostess asked whether we wanted to sit at the bar or at a table and we chose the bar because it seemed easier for them to serve us. It did take a little bit of time for the waitress to notice that we hadn't ordered yet but after that she was very attentive. We split the Eurostar root beer float, which comes with Fitz's Draft Root Beer topped with vanilla ice cream, Nutella, caramel sauce and whipped cream. And boy do they mean "topped with", because it was HUMONGOUS. I don't know how they balanced all that ice cream on top, but it was pretty fun to watch them assemble the whole thing. The key part to this root beer float was the nutella. I loved eating nutella chunks with vanilla ice cream dipped in root beer. I thought the two of us could finish off the root beer float by ourselves, but we started feeling uncomfortably full after finishing about 3/5 of it. I think we need at least 3 people to finish this thing. Our strategy for eating the root beer float without the ice cream/whipped cream/caramel/nutella toppling off: first scoop with your spoon until the ice cream narrows down and plunges into the root beer inside the cup. Then carefully use the straw and spoons to dish out the ice cream root beer combination. Some did spill out of the cup into the plate underneath. Anyways, the root beer float was about $5.99 but it's totally worth it and satisfied my sweet tooth! read more

The crew ordered frosty mugs of original Root Beer-which are bottomless by the way! We ordered burgers, a french dip, a kids pizza, a wrap and fries and onion rings. The burgers were solid, and the group loved their selections. The kids enjoyed watching the bottling machine in action. Our server was great, attentive but not too pushy and she kept the root beer flowing! COVID 19 precautions were in effect, with QR menu code scanning and self seating. A pretty cool place, especially if you have kids. My partner and I came in for lunch, hangry after our last stop was a flop. The soda is fantastic (I had a Fitz's/Kaldis collab soda), and the filling and assembly line is a cool touch. We were seated in a quiet area upstairs. This is a family favorite of mine. We stop by about ever time we go biking to Delmar Loop. My teenagers and I love root beer floats. Weekend visits to this restaurant are reserved for sit-down family meals. We opt for the patio when available. Super fun place to check out in St. Louis. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really fun and upstairs there are pool tables and pinball games. It's kind of loud, but makes for a fun place. I ordered a big juicy burger and thought it was excellent, especially for the price. The best part of the whole meal was the float! We got an orange soda float. It was big enough for my wife and I to share with our son. Super good. They didn't go light on the ice cream or whipped cream, it was a very generous serving. We spent the day in Saint Louis just finding local stuff to do. We came across this wonderful place. Their food was really good, but what caught our eye and just had us dying to try this place was their floats! We got two of them! One was the Cherry Bomb and the other was Big Black Forest. Their take on a root beer float was something worth trying. The drink of the sodas were different for some of the floats, straying away from your typical root beer float (which you could get) though we chose to try something new! The Fritz root beer float was very refreshing after a hot and humid day in St. Louis. There were 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream on top of room temperature root beer in a frosted glass. I ordered the pulled pork nachos. They came COVERED in pork 'n beans. Drizzled with bland yellow cheese. I would NOT have ordered these nachos if I'd known that by "pulled pork," they meant pork 'n beans "pulled" out of a can. I sent an item back, but the item was still on my bill. No problem, just take it off. Most importantly, I'm glad I'd recently read an article about how restaurants try to cheat customers by inflating the amount you're supposed to pay in the tip. My order came up to 24.97 plus 2.56 tax. They then automatically added an 18% gratuity, which brought things up to 34.98, about $2 more than it should have been. I pointed these things out to the waitress, so naturally she decided to argue with me about the bill. What? Babe, just do what I'm telling you to do, and correct the receipt. Overall, a great St. Louis spot to visit. You can't go wrong with any of their floats, I most recently got the Cookie Monster float, which included cookie dough ice cream, Oreos, and whipped cream over their made cream soda. Their regular food is normal good bar food, but their floats are what they are known for. They can be split in half and they are still massive! Fitz's is super fun! It's kid-friendly, and it has tons of retro games, plus two pool tables. We sat downstairs, and got to view the place where the magic happens. It's so interesting knowing that what you're seeing will soon be enjoyed by someone! The staff were super nice as well, and the food came out in less than five minutes. Below is my review on each thing we had. (: Monster Burrito- It's super huge and has a ton of ingredients. It came with two delicious sauces. So, first off, the bottling line was not running while we were there, which was a bit of a disappointment (I checked before hand and planned around a bottling day). A sign hanging in the observation window explained that the line suffered a mechanical breakdown and was waiting on a part. I know that can't be helped, and can also verify that workers were actively doing repairs (we could see them through the window), so it should be back up and running soon. The good news: Fitz's was good enough to recommend even WITHOUT the gimmick! Delmar loop seems like a fun place. We were on a schedule and didn't have time to explore, but it reminds me a lot of Bardstown Road in Louisville or the Atlanta Highlands neighborhood. We found a parking space (a meter) right across the street. We showed up at 11:30 and there wasn't any wait to sit down. Our table was upstairs in a loft area next to some Pool tables and pinball machines. The menu is standard "American Casual" (burgers, chicken fingers, etc). Our meals were tasty if unexceptional- the stars of the show, of course, are the Sodas. Our kids had a "Pink Lady" and "Mt. Everest" float. My husband had a root beer milkshake. They were all DELIGHTFULLY huge (seriously, imagine that float coming toward you and TRY not to smile). The taste was as good as it looked. I was amazed at how much the kids managed to wolf down (of course they couldn't finish). Service was quick and friendly, and the bill was modest. First off, it was packed.. don't be surprised and be prepared to more than likely wait a while on weekends. We sat outside and although our waiter did attend to us, we didn't get any refills on water until we had to flag someone and ask. Every time we didn't something, I always had to ask a different waiter because I didn't see mine too often. I got the bottle burger and it was actually pretty good. I put sauce from my fries in it and it tasted even better. The fries were pretty good though. I also got a salad, I think the Caesar ?? Was pretty good but I didn't like the type of leaves they used? Like kale leaves or something instead of straight up lettuce. I got the smores float and it was delicious. They had marshmallow in between the ice cream and it was truly amazing! I have never been so appalled by the service of this caliber in a long time. I was a party of two and came in at 8:05 on a Monday night. Fitz's closes at 9, no where close to closing time. When we came in, the hostess and a server was sitting on the bench texting and when we walked in they look up and say nothing.... We said we had a party of two. The restaurant was not busy at all and we sat for 7 mins without anyone acknowledging us. We left at 8:12 and I will never go back again. It's sad because we were slated to us their soda for our wedding and now I will not use them at all for any event. I'm extremely disappointed in a business of this magnitude.
