My friend has been raving about this place and I finally had a chance to try it. Calling to order and pick up the food was so easy! You can go online and check out their weekly menu and the food sounds delicious! You have a choice to order 3 or 4 dishes and pick up is after 3pm. Comes with 2-3 side dishes and soup. Light, not greasy, not salty at all, and absolutely tasty! Definitely will be checking out the weekly menu on days I don't feel like cooking! The place is a little hole in the wall and you just go in to pay and pick up.

First time! I like how their food is not oily and it is very healthy, I will be coming back on a weekly order for sure. The price isn't bad and enough for 2-3 days for my family. Thank you!

Ordered the chinese cured meats claypot rice and was warned it would take about 7-9 minutes. Not a problem because we all know it takes time. When I got my food, the older couple at next table over asked what I got and kept eyeing it. Gave it a couple swirls of soy sauce, heard it sizzle, and started digging in. We all know the crispy rice bits are the essence of the dish and it was perfectly crispy without being overly burnt. Also scraped off easily. There was a good topping to rice ratio. I knew I liked it when I found myself eating a little more than I usually do. I can only speak for the claypot rice here and it's def comparable to Chong Yuen Fong's. They use more oil than CYF but give more meats/veggies so that's a win. Def recommend for the 煲仔飯!

We ordered the shrimp rice noodle roll, Hainanese chicken rice, claypot rice with preserved meats, roasted duck wrap roll, and a beef belly and broccoli stir fry. Honestly, every dish was delicious. You can tell the flavors are traditional and made with care. The one that really stood out to us was the claypot rice. The bottom layer of rice was perfectly crispy and that soy sauce they use is crack. It soaked into the rice just right and gave it so much flavor. Definitely the must order item in my opinion. Service was excellent. It's a true mom and pop shop, which made the whole experience feel personal. The owner took her time explaining the menu and kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Her husband is the chef and even came out to ask how everything tasted. I told him it reminded me of eating in Hong Kong and he just smiled. They both seemed genuinely appreciative, which made the meal even more special. I love supporting small family owned spots, especially when the food is this good. Parking can be a bit challenging since the lot is shared with a supermarket and other restaurants. The ambiance is a little outdated but totally acceptable, and the noise level was moderate so we could talk comfortably. Definitely coming back to try more items on the menu. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese flavors, this place is well worth a visit.

I am genuinely thrilled to have such an upscale, quiet, and relaxing restaurant right here in my neighborhood. You can truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every dish. Every time I bring friends here, they are absolutely amazed and delighted by the flavors. We ordered quite a few dishes today. The highlight was the Chilean Sea Bass. The chef served a massive, beautifully thick cut--which is actually the hardest to execute. If overcooked even slightly, Chilean Sea Bass becomes dry and tough. But the timing here was absolutely perfect. It had a gorgeous, golden-brown exterior, while the inside remained incredibly moist, tender, and delightfully springy. The seasoning was spot-on and never overpowering; it wasn't too salty, perfectly preserving the natural, fresh flavors of the sea. We also had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. I typically avoid chicken dishes at restaurants because they often turn out dry and lack the rich aroma you get from beef or lamb. However, Sage's chef elevates chicken to another level. Rather than using the traditional Cantonese technique of quickly flash-frying in oil (which yields a smooth texture but sacrifices the natural meat aroma), the chef here expertly pan-sears the chicken over extremely high heat for a short time. This creates a deliciously crisp exterior that locks in all the juices and rich flavor. Tossed with perfectly cooked bowtie pasta and cheese, the result is so flavorful and well-balanced that we simply couldn't stop eating! Another great thing about Sage is their incredibly generous portion sizes--we left completely satisfied! We finished our meal with a great cup of coffee and the chef's handmade Tiramisu, drawing a perfect, sweet close to our evening. Highly recommend!

Running Chicks is located on the front shop facing side of the Mar Center shopping mall right along N Atlantic Blvd. There's street parking (if you're lucky) but a decently sized lot in the back and some more underground parking. Relatively easy to find spots Running Chicks takes up a medium sized space with seating on the left. There is a single use restroom in the back as well. The menu is simple, combos with drumsticks, wings and sides, only wings and some sides. We decided to try the 10 piece boneless wings in sweet spicy and soy garlic sauces and also ordered a curry rice with egg on top. The boneless wings were good, they had a lot of crunch but not an excessive amount of breading. I liked the soy garlic sauce a bit more, though wasn't getting a lot of garlic flavor. The sweet spicy was exactly that, good spice but no ther flavors than sweet...I think it was sorta going for a sweet sour flavor. The curry rice had lots of veggies with pieces of ground beef. It was good as well. The egg went from over easy to overhard as I think the carry over cooking continued to cook on top of the curry rice. Everything also came with a side of pickled raddish. Overall it was good, nothing amazing, which is fine. It's fast casual fried chicken. Would try again if out late and no other options.

Practically every table will have an order. Yeah, soft chicken - even the white meat, rice with a strong chicken flavor you didn't know existed, and excellent ginger sauce that surprisingly hasn't gone viral yet. Boneless chicken, by the way, so non-Canto friendly, and you saw that with the mosaic of people coming in to pick up an order. Me too, planning to pick up 2 orders before making my way Irvine, driving fast, faces pass, and I'm southbound. Jiving like Terry Crews. OK, maybe not "driving fast". This is LA, after all. But then the daily special menu caught my eye. It's Thursday. Chicken ala King, the chicken Al Fredo of Hong Kong, the one white sauce Western dish that HongKongers think of. It's fine. You have a job, and you're not here as often as you wish. Trigger pulled. And you're not the thermopile that you think you are anymore. Trigger pulled on the large chrysanthemum tea. And boy, do I NOT regret that decision. The flavors were on point, just like how it used to be in HK! The richness of the butter worked well with the flavor of the chicken. I don't feel as bad as enjoying the butter and cheeese combo that is Al Fredo but that's probably a bias I have. (The easiest place to get this in HK is actually KFC... But the execution is also pepper heavy there is no taste semblance to the original dish...) The tea is floral, sweet with a slight bitter aftertaste from being a little over brewed if your standard is Vita, but absolutely perfect for the heatwave. Service was great too. The boss lady smiled but was also very sharp. Got the tea immediately, no fuss about the ice, no hesitation and ready to switch when I asked if the adjacent container is milk tea. It's not. It's THEIR cappuchino. By the way, if you noticed the 3 veggie paintings on their wall, here's the irony... I'm pretty sure there's no leeks, carrots, or garlic used in making chicken rice. The yellow of the walls work well though, working in step with the sunset hues, and a far cry from the no-frills hospitial-wite walls of so many other Cantonese mom-n-pops. And sadly, no one comes close in the Bay Area, not even the 2 new shops in Millbrae dare I say. Parking isn't an issue. Valley Blvd is a busy street, but the side streets are residential. Try not to be on the other side of Valley though. Valley with its traffic is a pain in the rear to cross. Even if you're not a chicken. N if u gonn' say jo mama make it betta', lemme ask, jo mama make dat rice too? Sorry for Game-of-Throning in the beginning, but TBH it's not like this ESTABLISHMENT needs this review. But…read morehaving grown up eating Hainanese Chicken Rice and trying versions of it across East Asia, I have very high standards for it. So I came away thinking the chicken rice here was simply okay - not bad, but not particularly memorable either. The chicken itself was decent, but mine came out slightly overcooked. As a result, it lost some of the tenderness and velvety texture that defines truly great Hainanese chicken. The dryness also muted some of the natural flavor that should come through in the poached chicken. The rice was probably the biggest disappointment for me. Great Hainanese chicken rice should have a rich aroma from chicken stock, garlic, ginger, and rendered fat, with each grain distinct and flavorful on its own. Here, the rice felt a bit clumpy and lacked the deep, savory fragrance and chicken essence that elevate the dish. As for the condiments, they were adequate but unremarkable. The soy sauce and ginger sauce did their job of complementing the chicken, but neither stood out. The chili sauce had some heat and acidity. Still, it lacked the brightness and complexity that can really tie the entire plate together. Overall, nothing about the meal was bad. In fact, I can see why it satisfies many people looking for comforting chicken rice. But for me, the chicken, rice, and sauces never fully came together into a cohesive, standout dish. It's competent Hainanese Chicken Rice - just missing the extra depth, balance, and refinement that make the best versions truly special.
