I have been trying for over a month to find a new gym since the one I was using closed with no notice These people don't answer their phone nor do they call people back I have tried to come during their short almost nonexistent office everytime they closed early for some reason or another. Fitness 1440 is a great newish gym on Bailey Hill Road. It's a small facility which is nice because you can be the only one there sometimes. I come in after work and it's like having my own gym sometimes. The people there are always welcoming and happy to see you, they welcome me with my first name all the time. Fitness 1440 has classes you can join and showers. It's a great price per month unlike the rest of the gyms that cost an arm and a leg to join. Come and join this place it's great!! read more

This gym was purchased around Christmas 2017 by 2 sisters, so it's only been a few months. They are doing a great job. It's super clean. All the equipment works. Any issues are dealt with immediately. They are available and approachable, friendly, and helpful. I find the members to be considerate. Wiping down equipment after use and putting their weights back. Gym is never crowded. There aren't many classes yet but they are just getting started. I like that the back room is available for stretching and other use. For my own interests, I'd like to see a dance and/ or barre class offered eventually, and maybe some new mats in the back. I did a week long trial here. I'm considering joining but I still have a few things to consider before I make my decision. Cons: -locker room isn't ideal. It's not awful but it's not as nice as a lot of other gyms in eugene -it's a bit far from me, which isn't too much of an issue since it's around the same distance as other gyms I'm considering -they don't have some of the equipment that I would like a gym to have. Example: There's no stationary bike- I wish they had one. -it's small with not a lot of privacy. Which honestly isn't too much of a con, small gyms tend to have less people which is pretty nice. Pros: -there was never a lot of people there when I went, which is nice. It's definitely easier to get a workout done when gyms aren't crowded. -it's low key. People are considerate, there's not a bunch of loud grunting or people talking too loud. People mind their business which is nice. -there's a mix of people. It's not just gym bro's and wannabe fitness models taking selfies, there's older people, younger people, big people, small people, a dog, a child, etc. it definitely screams community gym, which is refreshing for someone like me who tends to feel self conscious at gyms where people are cliquey gym rats. -they have plenty of weights -staff is friendly read more

Warning, angry rant. Unprofessional. Key word. Number one, they can't seem to answer the phone. Ever. It will ring and ring until your phone dies. Secondly, canceling your member ship is the biggest pain in the ass I've ever experienced. I mailed myself a letter to prove that I was moving to portland, but that's OBVIOUSLY not good enough because "anybody can just write an address on an envelope." Um, number one if it was fake, the post office would have sent it back to me. It has the god damn official stamp on it. So he said they need a bill. Well, I don't pay bills. I literally have none. Absolute Fitness has become a staple in my life, providing inspiration for staying fit and a great group of friends to hang out with at the crack of dawn. I joined a few years ago because my cholesterol was high. The intense but reachable workout regimens helped me get it down (along with diet) and helped me lose weight to the point of fitting back into a pair of pants I've had since college. The weight room has something for everyone, and when I was waiting to use a squat rack or something, most people were courteous and friendly. While the bootcamp has always pushed me, the new owners have introduced some fresh variety and intensity that has brought me back more regularly. Whenever I didn't know a move or wasn't sure about my form, the staff and those around me happily answered my questions. I have noticed that on a busy day, the onus is on me (the customer) to ask about my form rather than expect them to always notice my imperfections. It's a great place. I'd recommend it both for those looking to take their workout up a notch or beginners who want a friendly non-judgmental environment to start new habits and get in shape. read more

The new owners of this gym are very stuck up. They dont greet you when you enter the gym. The dumbells are missing rubber making them not the correct weight and the machines are out of order for weeks. One treadmill has been broken for over 4 months. Also there is dried blood on the dumbells, disgusting!! I would recommend going to another gym with owners who care about their customers and equipment thats works. I have been to many gyms in many strayed from name brands to locally owned and I am here to tell you this is the best gym I found in Eugene. I moved here 3 years ago and tried them all and I am sticking to absolute. The staff are great, the owner Tommy Skipper is a great trainer, and if you are a high schooler preparing for college sports you need to seek out Tommy. I am 58 and lift a lot of weights, I still bench over 400 lbs leg press over 1000 and created an arm workout that was adopted at a college by their football players, so I know what it takes to get a good workout and I do at Absolute. My wife is a trainer and has run marathons nd tri's and she loves the Bootcamp at Absolute. Give it a try you will be glad you did. read more

I have been at Absolute fitness for about 10 months and since then there have been 3 instructors of boot camp. Recently a new guy named Will started teaching the class and things have gotten harder but better! He has been creating new workouts with lots of variety which makes it more fun. He also pushes you harder than the other instructors which you have to get used to, but he's not intrusive. Just makes you do more rigorous workouts, but the variety he brings makes the workout go by faster. Keep up the fun workouts Will! As for the gym itself, it's kind of run down and not the cleanest. Everything is clean and well-maintained; it is spacious and has plenty of equipment, all of which works. The owners work hard and are usually there during the day. Although there are some pretty impressive athletes who work out here, it is not a pretentious environment and the clientele is very diverse. Well the reason they are getting 2 stars is 'cause the owners are really nice and worked with me. The reason I only gave 2 stars was the account lady. I don't know if she was having a bad or what but I had talked to the owners first and made arrangements but when I talked to the account lady I got "WHAT? He shouldn't have given you THAT" and a few other things. It irked me so bad I wouldn't go back. My mom handled it (thank God) but I won't be going back there ever. The gym aspect is OK from what I saw. The accounting and management of the place however, are horrible. It was almost impossible to get a hold of anyone unless you drove in. I moved out of the area and wanted to pay off my membership and cancel it , it has taken 5+ calls just to get it clear that I want to pay off the account. When I signed up I was never given a contract or key (both of which were allegedly going to be mailed to me) and the staff will constantly say, "it's in your contract," and that I can drive in and pick up a copy if I want one. I don't live in that area anymore so driving in is not really a possibility. Now that my contract is expiring they are saying I have to come in and fill out a 30 day notice to quit the gym, again, I no longer live in the area. I have friends that go to this gym and they absolutely love it. I, however would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

The accounting portion of this gym is awful. First problem I have was I had a contract at 100 a month - which was fine -so I referred 3 people to his gym to get the $40 price. Not only did it not take into effect when it should, when issuing a refund they messed up and charged my card an extra 100 dollars. So I call and was angry and Chris felt the need to tell me I was mean and made his front office girl cry. SERIOUSLY telling me it wasn't her fault, bla bla bla. Not only when I went in to sign this new contract for the $40 dollars a month. Now they can't find that contract. It has been over since April of this year and it is now July 1 and I am still being charged! I sent them a letter signature required 2 months ago to cancel my contract- and they are STILL charging me. HORRIBLE - GO THE OTHER WAY -RUN!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris has no business running a business. He needs better accounting practices. Stick to the muscle head side of things and get a person who can actually manage the finances! This is a joke! read more

Great gym with a ton of variety. I have been with this gym for over three years now and it has gone through many changes, all for the better. Their group boot camp classes are fun, challenging and change daily keeping it new and exciting. They incorporate a ton of fun equipment into the workouts as well. You could be rowing, slamming ropes, using TRX straps, squatting slosh tubes, box jumping etc.. Like I said the variety of workouts are endless which make it easy to come in to get a great workout each day. If you are looking to throw some weights around they have all the necessary bars, plates, racks and machines to get the job done. A room filled with treadmills and stair climbers for some great cardio with TV's to entertain you through your miles of hard work. And now my favorite part of the gym, Crossfit Toad. There is something for everyone at this gym. And when they added the Crossfit program to this gym I was excited. Several classes throughout the day with friendly knowledgeable trainers who are there to see you succeed and help you develop the strength you never thought you had. They have all the typical Crossfit gym equipment in a clean spacious environment. The WOD's (workout of the day) change daily and are programmed nicely to develop your strength, cardio endurance, gymnastic abilities and mobility. The Crossfit members are fun to be around and all encourage one another through the challenging workouts. I have found the pricing to be very competitive across the Crossfit gyms in Eugene. With the added bonus that your Crossfit membership includes the boot camp and weight/cardio room!! It's really a great deal. The last thing I wanted to point out is that this is a friendly gym. The workouts are different and a combination of physically challenging, cardio work and strength building. Never boring. I bought a Groupon to try Absolute Fitness. The staff is always super nice and helpful. I usually work out late, 9 or 10. The night guy is super nice and always cleaning. Nice clean establishment, with a great staff. The only reason I doubt I will stay is their Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours. Friday they close at 9 PM and Saturday and Sunday they close at 5 PM. My son who is 9 years old with a disability was just denied the opportunity to use the bathroom in Fitness 1440 in Eugene Oregon right now by the supervisor who was extremely disrespectful to both of us. When I let her know my autistic son just needed to go to the bathroom really quick and it was the only place in the middle of nowhere for him to go, after at the supervisors request we already visited all the other buildings in the area to see if we could use their bathroom, SHE STILL DENIED HIM. I have been going to Absolute Fitness for more than two years now and I love it. It has a very laid back and friendly environment. The staff has improved a lot over the time I have been here, especially now with the new owners, Tommy and Amanda. They have immediately made improvements to all portions of the business. The Bootcamp is great and I recommend it to anyone to try. The workouts change everyday and the trainers are friendly and knowledgeable. The members at the gym are also friendly and make a great community to join. Everybody encourages each other and has fun at the same time. Crossfit Toad is awesome! Since I have joined Crossfit, I have never felt better. I have become stronger, faster, and more energetic. The coaches are great and are very patient with you and have concerns for safety. Crossfit Toad is not your typical garage box that is cramped for space and has old equipment. The facility is large, has nice equipment, and is only getting better too. I've been to quite a few gyms in the Eugene area and the culture at 1440 always feels positive and encouraging. The new owners are very friendly and even ask questions to the members about what we like, dislike, or would like to see improved. The general condition of the gym is very clean. I'm not sure if reviewing the members of the gym is appropriate, but all the people I've met are super nice and very easy to talk to. Not a bunch of egos walking around or gym snobs. It's not a huge gym in size, but it's not small. They have all the equipment you need for serious weight training and a nice open turf floor space to do all the creative calisthenic exercises you can think of. read more

Tried it out for less than a week. They don't clean this gym, mirrors were dirty the whole time. The cardio equipment was not working properly. The weight machines pads were all ripped. To top it off it seems like everyone of the workers just brings their children there to run around. In the weight room a little boy was playing with all the machines, it was a very dangerous situation, I decided to go to a different gym. I would recommend the same. read more

The staffs' personal conversations were more important. Because I am very committed to fitness and wanted to be confident with equipment I signed up with a personal trainer to get some attention. The first trainer I used was great. I signed up for a month but the trainer left unexpectedly. I was told I would be switched to another trainer but the second person had no drive to help me succeed and was not available for appointments. Started with this bootcamp when it was Mikilas Bootcamp on Commerce St. in November of 2012, and stayed with them when they moved to Bailey Hill rd, and changed their name to Absolute Fitness. I have been with them for over a year now. I love it! Workouts are very challenging, bootcamp is offered 12 times per day, so very flexible schedule, the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The owner is a very nice guy and very helpful. I signed up when they had a special and I pay a very reasonable monthly rate. I did another bootcamp previous to this one and while the workouts were good, the owner was a very shady business person and there were many problems. I say this bootcamp is 200% better and I have no complaints at all! I will be staying with them forever! read more

This is hands down the best training facility in the area. It's not just a building with weights and cardio machines. The CrossFit doesn't have that "cult" vibe. Just a bunch of friendly people, all with similar goals - optimal health. The instructors are fantastic and knowledgeable. So this gym has gone through some major changes since my first review, and not for the better. They did a complete shutdown for over 2 days with no notice (I found out after I arrived for a 4am workout to find a note taped to the door). Half the gym has been stripped for a month now with no communication about what is going on and the weight lifting portion of the gym has been cut down to 1/4 of what it was. Cleanliness has gone from minimal to non-existent, the level of dust on the machines is absurd and the floor is an absolute nightmare. The restroom/shower rooms are so bad you can smell them from the drinking fountain located outside the entrances. This was supposed to be an inexpensive, no frills kind of gym. Cleanliness should never be considered a frill and now the space can't even accommodate a dozen people. Unless these issues are resolved, I'll be looking for another gym when my pre-paid membership expires. read more

I have done boot camp early morning at AB since 2/13. There have been 6 instructors since I began. I really liked the first one but didn't find the others as good until the most recent, Will, started several months ago. He is very creative, super bowl day theme workout and a Monopoly game workout are examples. I particularly like that the variety of his workouts and focus on all body parts instead of over doing one part, like arms, which puts me at more risk for injury. Also he really challenges us. When I first joined AB most of the boot camp exercises were the basic ones but Will is always encouraging progress and making the exercises harder for those who can do it. I have had many injuries over the years so need to be careful and he is fine with my doing alternative or basics when needed. A prior instructor would forget my injuries and push me which didn't help. I also like that Will is attentive, staying in the room and alert in case anyone has questions. He is also friendly which has not always been the case with prior instructors. Hope Will stays around! read more
