We were members before COVID when the club was vibrant, loved by the community, and a social center. After COVID they closed the restaurant, and did a horrible remodel which has transformed the main exercise room from an elegant wood paneled, and television fronted exercise center to a large vacuous cold room simply filled with exercise equipment. And the Main Street entrance remodel is saddening. We recently renewed as members but after a couple of months we just didn't see the value, nor did it feel intimate like it used to. read more

I recently joined the DAC. I definitely feel like the pool, and hot tub alone make this place worth every penny. It's clean, the people are super friendly. I got a locker for $11 a month, and they launder my clothes for me and put them back in my locker for me. It never feels crowded or swarming with kids. I have been to one auqufit class and really loved it! The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it closes at 8pm, and most classes are during my work hours. I was a long time member - and the gym has traditionally been fine for family activities such as swimming and playing basketball. However in the last couple of years, it seems to be increasingly less friendly for families. The courts are often scheduled for activities like pickle-ball, or full court adult basketball games, and the pool has similar issues. To compound matters, most of the scheduled usages of the courts and the pool occur on the weekends, when kids have the most free time. Another issue is how unfriendly some of the members are with respect to families. I get the sense there is a decent percentage of members that wish all the kids and families would just go away, so they could enjoy their gym in peace. So the summary is, its fine, though very pricy, if you want a gym catered towards adults only, but I would recommend looking elsewhere if you have a family with younger children. read more

It's a decent gym. The staff are friendly and always ready to help. The two indoor pools and Jacuzzi is great. The machines are pretty good. The members who come here keep to themselves, which I like. The only thing that disappointed me was that there is only ONE abdominal machine here. ONE!! I think most of the people who want to get in shape consider their stomach area a problem area. I was really surprised to find that they only had one machine. The person who gave me a tour said I could do sit ups and planks, but I have a weak neck and wrists. Anyway, if you're a walker, biker, or lifter, this is the gym for you! read more

While I typically enjoy my workout at DAC, I have to say there are a few flaws about it that make it much more of a "gym" for its younger members than a "club" - unless you're an elderly man who's already in the 'good ole boys club' and love to chat in the nude all day long in the locker room shamelessly boasting about your business, which by all means, the club aspect is totally there. Most members are not social nor particularly friendly or inviting. I get it, it's a gym at the end of the day. Part of the mind-math I did to justify their incredible monthly prices (which doesn't include training by the way) was the potential opportunity to network and meet other like-minded folks - that has not happened one bit. This is likely a positive for those that want to workout somewhere where they won't be bothered at all! That's not my cup of tea, though. As a gym, it's functional enough, except their lifting platforms are too short and therefore dangerous, the floor in the weight room is uneven which causes weights to shift roll or slide, and the cardio machines cause the weight room to constantly "bounce." Bar none, the best thing about DAC is one of the trainers they hired there recently. Evan is a treasure, a kind and cool dude, and he alone would keep me coming back to DAC. Without Evan, my review score would be lower. If you're thinking to yourself, "maybe I'll meet like-minded ambitious people who are serious about both life and their fitness" - this unfortunately isn't the place as it currently stands. I will always come to the DAC - and full circle, am now a member after working as a locker room attendant back in high school. I'm torn here, because I want to give a better review, but can't. Membership is down from when I was working there 17 years ago, which makes using the weight room nice since it's generally empty, but something has to change. They've cut their hours back (HUGE issue), the number of employees (honestly understandable), and added frustrating fees like having to pay for a card that scans through the front entrance (complete nonsense). You have employees and members who could easily help increase your membership, use that to your advantage! Add some reformer equipment and offer classes! Do something before the rest of your primary members age out. read more

I recently stopped back in to the DAC during a business trip, and was made to feel very welcome upon arrival. I had been a member for over three years during a stint of living in Eugene in the past, and recall really enjoying my daily visits to the club. The facilities are clean, beautiful and well-maintained, and parking is fairly easy in the adjacent structure. I have always enjoyed positive interactions with the staff at all levels; all of my needs were met as a member and as a guest over the years. I highly recommend the DAC to the Eugene resident or the friendly visitor alike! It's undoubtedly one of the finest facilities of its type in Oregon, and the amenities are aplenty (onsite physical therapy, indoor pool, indoor basketball court, steam room, etc). I truly want to love this place. But it is so darn expensive. Great for if you're rich, which plenty of their members are. I wanted to come here and give some honest feedback on why they will lose families like mine to the new YMCA opening soon. 1. You treat your childcare like a side hustle, charging extra fees if people don't call 2 hours ahead of time? Only allowing 6 kids? All on top of the extra hourly per kid? 2. Your drop in fees for if we bring a friend or friend of the kids is atrocious, $15!? Other gyms are either free or $5 tops. To pay so much monthly then be nickel and dimed just feels tacky. We will continue to love coming here until December. I highly recommend you inspect some of your cables on the cable machines. Many are frayed and a liability. You have a decent team of employees, treat them good. Develop a plan to make your place more family friendly. You need a blend of older and younger to be successful and stay relevant in our community. read more

Nice Facility and friendly folks, but Buyer Beware. Make sure you read the fine print when you join. It cost me over $300 for one dip in the pool and a single shower. Due to a medical issue, I tried to put my membership on hold shortly after I joined. I was told I had to have a note from my doctor in order for them to do that. (I'm 76 yrs. old! Last time I had to get a note to "be excused" was in the 8th grade.) So I told them to forget it, and just cancel my membership. At which time I was told they were charging me another month, because you need to give them a month's notice when terminating your membership. Neither of these "rules" were explained to me when I joined. My bad. I should have stood there and read everything before I signed the membership forms. Look around. You can do better. Both exercise wise and ethically. read more

Pros: Friendly staff. Nice waiting area. Huge locker room with all accessories (shampoo, soap, shaving cream, lotion, q-tips, and TOWELS) provided. Sauna, hot tub, and two pools. Cons: Weight area could be larger and better stocked. Lap pool is kept really COLD and is very shallow (3 feet-ish). Strange policy for getting to and from pool. The over all atmosphere is quite snobby. This place is ok if you are looking for a club to socialize in and maybe do some light exercising, but seriously, Track Town CrossFit is two doors down. Definitely the best gym in the Eugene area, the parking validation is good for a long enough period of time that you can easily get your work out done within the validation window. The equipment is pretty decent and I enjoyed how it was easy to get a TV turned to the channel you wanted when the NBA playoffs were on. They have a basketball court, swimming pool and tanning beds too. My biggest suggestion for improvement is the idea of putting stalls in the shower area rather than the open area approach. I hope management take note of this since it's supposed to be an upscale gym, not a prison. read more

This place is my salvation. When I'm not enjoying new and revisited restaurants I'm stayin in shape at the DAC. Never a wait for machines or equipment. Expert trainers have added much to my daily routine. Two excellent pools. Clean locker room, towels, steam room and sauna. No place in Eugene has this many amenities: pools, racquetball, basketball, jacuzzi, sauna, and a mediocre weight room. The staff are attentive. Facilities are clean. Huge locker rooms. There is a rumor around town that DAC stands for Doctors, Attorneys, and Consultants due to the high fees, and yes, this is indeed the most expensive place around. For me, the 25 m lap pool is why I joined so I knew what I was getting into financially. If you are more focused on general fitness, aerobic machines, weights, this is not the place for you. Our company had a 3 day training event in the ballroom at the DAC. Denley and the front desk crew were all amazing to work with. The ballroom fit our needs for up to 40 people (during covid times) monitors, great WiFi access, a conference phone and a large projector and screen. All tech went smoothly. Denley worked with us and a caterer and took criticism immensely well. Unfortunately, they lost the food part of the club. If we need a space that large again, we definitely know who to book with. I and a number of friends are either withdrawing our membership or not joining as we had planned, due to the DAC's recent, very poor treatment of members and a staff they "discharged" with no good cause or explanation. They let go of the swimming instructor many came to really love and whose swimming instructions all appreciated. Even after her leave, she has been only professional; and we have evidence from others that the ongoing problems stem from DAC's historical poor management, particularly from new and unethical directors, such as Kris C. and Gregory A. We are excited for upcoming facility expansion and development at the YMCA gym that we hope will grow as the DAC continues to fail, although we hope for new management at the DAC to improve their ethical treatment of members and staff. Although they brag about being the "nicest gym in Eugene" the DAC misses the mark in a great way with how they treat their employees and members. You do not know who is running the place. They have several general managers. They cannot keep the good people around. This gym has everything you want. But the following cannot be overlooked: 1- The price is way too high, and it keeps some people out. 2- It is not possible to justify $400 initiation fee. Nor the $600 if you spread it over the next 2 years. They are calling it a deal, but that's BS. It is about 45% interest over 2 years. That is NOT a freaking deal. I can't believe they are advertising it outside their gym. 3- You will not see people of color in there. I'm one of those and get stared at a lot. It's like people wondering how am I able to afford it, or how did I get in, etc. 4- The majority of the people in there are white men over 50. So if you're young and would like to play basketball or racquetball, there is practically never anyone there to play with. read more

Unimpressed and a complete lack of organization is what made me drop my membership from this "heathclub". The DAC tries to sell itself on the ideas that this is a social opportunity to meet others to network with, while completely misunderstanding the basics of just overall abilities to workout in a comfortable environment. There is NO NETWORKING happening and it is simply a clique for those already established "oldtimers" - and I do mean OLD. The staff is rude and unfriendly, not doing anything to make it worth the ridiculous fees they charge to their members. Their "social events" are overpriced and lack any organizational skills whatsoever. Whoever joins this "club" should be prepared to feel like an outcast once they have your money and signed all their legal/financial documents. Not a trustworthy business and I would recommend going just about anywhere else than the DAC. read more

Although I've been to other gyms in the area this place has a pool, lower level gym with a mezzanine workout area, a childcare facility for parents who want to workout with little kids, and the upstairs workout area (treadmills, weights, ellipticals, and the locker rooms have showers, lockers with your own special 4 key personal code. By far, one of the nicest gyms in town to belong to. They offer a discount if you are employeed at Sacred Heart. With your initial membership, you get a free session with a personal trainer. They set you up with a program and really are gracious enough to inquire how you are doing when they see you around the facility. They have a resteraunt on site (Billy's Ax Grill) as well as a juice/sandwich bar in the lobby area. Coffe isn't good, I would pass on that and pick up a smoothie. Nice lobby area where you can read the paper and anjoy a snack, or even meet clients for a quick meeting. Well worth the price of admission, considering the level of comfort and attention that is paid upon the members. read more

I used to love the DAC. Well, I still do. I'm no longer a member because I moved away from here for two and a half years, and didn't like having to repay "new member" fees when I returned (also I'm just too lazy to go to the gym). They have tons of facilities, all kinds of classes, great personal trainers, two swimming pools, a hot tub, and saunas, you can get your own locker, and you can even get laundry service. Just put your gym clothes in a special bag in your locker, and when you come back the next day, they're back in your locker clean and dry. That alone would make me pick the DAC over any other place haha, I hate having to do laundry two or three times as often just to have clean gym clothes on hand when I need them. I used to be in their ladies' poker club organized by the awesome Brian, which was a lot of fun (though everyone was twice my age). They also have a restaurant,, and a juice bar on the ground floor. Plus they give you special parking passes so you can park for free in the garage next to it, which has a bridge straight into the DAC reception. And occasionally they give you free guest passes to bring a friend. If I were to rejoin a gym, this would definitely be the one. Also helpful that my hawt professor went to the gym here. This place gets a solid 4-stars. I can't speak for the gym, but the restaurant was a good experience. My friend and I had the nachos, ahi burger, and fish tacos. We weren't impressed with the nachos because there wasn't enough cheese and the cheese they used was the shredded kind that just hardens overtime. So it wasn't pleasant to eat, but they gave us a lot of chips and other toppings. I had my ahi burger, it was tasty, but I wasn't blown away from it. The bun was toasted nicely and the wasabi aioli was a nice touch. According to my friend, the fish tacos were good. The staff was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the big screen TVs as there was a basketball game on. I will be back to try some other things on the menu (I was a little disappointed with the menu, however, it wasn't as impressive as I expected from an upscale athletic club). read more

I have read reviews of both kinds (on each end of the spectrum) for this place. Being an infrequent visitor (thus hopefully a neutral observer) I think I need to definitely put in my two cents. There is a pen company Mont Blanc. What they offer are some overpriced pens (which do the same exact job as a BIC would do). The never put those pens on sale and much rather destroy them. The point being this health club with its price point works as a sort of filter and the whole idea is the exclusivity. With that said from a pure healthclub perspective here's what I saw Q Are the machines good: Lets say Planet Fitness has better machines than they do Q Staff: I find them to be extremely courteous (despite my self not being white and an out of towner) . Without exception I have found all the staff to go above and beyond in answering my queries or answering the same question I might have asked them the other time I visited. I would give them a easy 10/10 Q Other peeps working out: Without a doubt it's an old schoolers (in every way) crowd - but everyone is polite and minds their business. Q Pool: Very well maintained. Restrooms/Locker rooms and poolside are very well maintained. They charge you a lot and there is a reason for that. If you for any reason are on the fence for making a decision I would recommend thinking about Mont Blanc pens and you will not be dissatisfied whichever way you go. I got a day pass here because I want to try going to a gym and loose weight for my upcoming wedding and wow I love this gym! There's a pool so I'm gonna buy some goggles and they have a sauna which I think it's best if you go into it in a swimsuit but I've seen people go in fully clothed with sneakers on after their workout haha I thought that was funny They have treadmills to run on and all this other stuff you would need a personal trainer to show you to use it but that's not a bad thing haha I'm defineltey gonna sign up soon I think ! read more
