My Grandson attended Summer Camp for Kindergarten and First grade. The Director and Staff made some attempts to reduce Bullying. However they were not successful. It was very disturbing and disappointing. I called and wrote requesting to encourage a No Tolerance stance. Nothing worked. We will not use the Camp again. My son has been going to the afterschool program for more than a year and also attended their summer camp. I've had nothing but great experiences here with the staff. Professional and fun, striking a nice balance. They tell me when my kid has been naughty, which I appreciate. We handle it right at pick up, myself, my son and staff. They also tell me when he did something kind or helpful. So I've always gotten fair and balanced feedback that aligned with his personality. They have always done crafts, swimming, field trips to keep it interesting for the kids. They are usually open for no school days and some holidays. I've always felt that staff really got to know him as well as gotten to know me and I've always felt he was safe there. The price is really decent and it's close to his school and home. The rest of the staff that works there has always been very nice and helpful as well. I would and have recommended River Road park and Rec. I'm looking forward when I retire to going to many of their adult classes and travel opportunities. read more

I wouldn't leave my dog in their after school program. No training for any of the staff and treating children cruelly is just fine with the director. Lots of bullying by the staff and between the kids. YMCA costs more but their staff is much better equipped. read more

People were very friendly. Was able to swim laps. Only 6 lanes and a short period of time to swim before they sectioned off for kids swim lessons. Showers were open area and reminded me of gym class not private. They did have a jacuzzi outside which was ok. read more

I just went here to this pool for my first time, on Wednesday, November 23 of this year, and it's so wonderful that it makes me wanna be one of their loyal swimmers! This was my first day of swimming in years, probably since about 2015. Let me tell ya, it's wonderful! I was a bit frightened of the steps, as I'm sight challenged, and that railing is not very big, so as a solution, one of the friendly lifeguards there put me on the chair lift, and gently lowered me into the pool. It's like riding on a plane! It feels so amazing like you're on a trip to paradise! Even the water feels wonderful! It's not too hot, not too cold, but juuuuuuuuust right! When I was done, she lifted me out of the pool, another amazing plane ride! When I took a shower, it felt like a warm water massage! Paradise! I'm gonna make this pool a regular part of my workout routine every week! I come on Wednesday afternoons at about 1:30 when it's not so crowded, and I'm greeted with positive attitudes. Amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! Better yet, I got a 10-pass punch card, which I can renew when I need to, so that I don't have to spend a fortune. This pool deserves more than 5 stars! Five stars because this recreation center did it's job when I came in here for a fitness class. The class was $6 for a drop in which was nice so I could try it out and see how it was but you can also buy a punch card and get a better deal for more classes. They take card and cash which is helpful. This place has a fitness center and an indoor pool as well as a park outside of it. This place is located in a neighborhood setting and has a large parking lot. It's not the most fancy or high end type of center but I think that's the point. It's nice to be able to exercise or take the kids to the pool for cheap and an indoor pool sounds great for when its cold outside! read more

This week, I had my first massage at River Road Park & Recreation. My masseuse was Jenn Hodges. I have had a lot of body work during my years as a professional musician, and Jenn was simply the best. The way that she zoned in on my trouble spots - neck and shoulder area - was remarkable. She is very present with an uncanny ability to tune in and listen to your body. I went to my first Zumba class ever last night! I don't know how I've gone this long without it! Maribel is an amazing instructor. It's obvious she's having a blast the entire time, which kept me energetic and smiling through the whole hour (which went by super fast). The facility had plenty of parking and open schedules for parent who work full time during the day. We were able to make it to the evening classes.This is where my son has his first swimming lessons at and he loves it. The instructors weren't pushy at all! There were two instructors and they both spent equal time with each child. I will definitly come back for the next level of swimming lessons for my son. read more

I took my two little girls here today (1yr and 4yrs old) to swim in their outdoor wading pool. First, I told the receptionist we'd never been there before...she didn't offer any directions to the pool so we were left to wander around the building. We finally find it out back, behind the building. It's a really cute little pool, about 1.5 or 2 feet deep, I'd say. So my 4 yr old gets in and starts playing with some other kids. I get in with my 1 year old and hold her hands and we start walking around in the water. There were two lifeguards. They were standing right next to each other, instead of on opposite sides of the pool like they're supposed to. One of the lifeguards comes up to me and tells me I am not allowed in the wading pool because he "wouldn't be able to see the other children" (even though he would have, had they been on opposite sides of the pool!!). There was probably 8 other kids in the pool and I'm a tiny 5'2", so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be blocking his view. I tried to reason with him that I was in there so my 1yr old could wade around like big sister. I even offered to sit on my knees. Nope. I made him get me a copy of their policies. Even the policy was unclear. Said it was dependent on how many children were in the pool. 30 kids, I could see the reason behind it. 8? Not so much. I asked him to define it, he wouldn't. So I go inside and talk with a manager. She's no help. But she said we could swim inside for free. We go inside and of course my 4 yr old is not tall enough to touch the bottom. Thanks for nothing. All in all, it was the most frustrating, ridiculous experience I've ever had. The policies and customer service were both far below expectation. I was so angry when we left, that I didn't even get dressed. We all stormed out in our swimsuits! Gonna try Willamalane or Amazon tomorrow... read more
