Four years since I had dental work. Yep, I said I - four years. I have an phobia for dental work - I can handle the pain of the work but I can't handle the "so here's something we found, here's what needs to be done" and my teeth just don't cooperate with the intended goal. It all started about 12 years ago when a root canal nearly ruined my planned vacation to Hawaii. The dentist broke the drill bit in my root and spent about six hours trying to get it out. No luck, so the next day I went to an emergency oral specialist and spent another 10 hours sitting in the chair. I wanted the tooth pulled but each DDS said they had to get the drill bit first. I finally walked away without the dreaded drill bit in my root, about $2000 more in debt, and a year later, I loss the tooth. ;( My dear husband did a lot of research and became the family guinea pig in search of a new family dentist. He visited Villaggio Dental, had a check up, had his teeth cleaned, and started the process of more extensive dental projects. He raved about the staff and environment. Then my my husband passed away unexpectedly. The day after, a alert popped up on his cell phone to remind him of an appointment, and I called to cancel. A day later, my family received a beautiful bouquet of the flowers from Villaggio Dental. Who else out there can say that their dental office sent flowers to them, especially since they didn't even know us??? After 10 months of grieving, I found the courage to pick up the phone and make appointments for me and our daughter. My husband was not wrong - their office great! It's warm, inviting, and calm. There's a little basket of water bottles sitting on the fireplace. Current magazines, restroom access from the waiting room (so you don't have to ask), and a charming little kids play area. Staff shares the workload sensibly and every patient I saw come in was welcomed with smiles. Sat in the chair and Bethany took xrays and a preliminary exam. So friendly, and quiet, and calming. After explaining my "phobia" she let me know that I could leave any time, I could take a break any time - just having that permission was a relief. When Dr. Leach arrived, he was not rushed; he thoroughly explained the health of my teeth; he checked for signs of oral cancer (nothing there!!); he asked repeatedly if I has any questions. He seemed invested. And compassionate. I came back a couple of days later for a thorough cleaning. My PSTD anxiety had diminished little, but I was still waiting to hear bad news. Nothing. Susanna was just as terrific as everyone else. This helps me believe that Dr. Leach does whatever possible to insure his practice has competent people, and advocates for making patients comfortable. In the real world, every person has a certain way they want to interact with others. Can I guarantee you'll have the best dental experience in the world if you choose to become a patient at Villaggio Dental? Nope. But I absolutely know we're going to be receiving our future dental care with Dr. Leach and his staff. read more

Charged more than quoted. Dentist stated that an exam was needed to provide a standard of care. Unfortunately, this standard of care cost an additional $82 for a two-minute exam. No consent was given for this exam, nor the cost disclosed until after the visit. It seems that their standard of care is more about obtaining money than it is for the care of the patient. read more

This husband and wife team runs an exceptionally good dental clinic. We have needed a great deal of dental care as retirees, with my husband having a more complicated care due to other health concerns, and they are skilled in addressing our needs perfectly. Their team know how to use our dental insurance and manage the finance aspects to our satisfaction, and appointments are available, thankfully. We drive from the coast to Healdsburg to go to this dentist--and would not have it any other way at this point. read more

This is one of the worst dental experiences I've ever had first of all they rescheduled my cleaning appointment so I had to take more time off work. It's taken a year to get an appointment there. I get there for my appointment and I was told the dental hygienist didn't show up. The lady told me that there's a possibility we could just do x-rays and maybe the dentist can do a quick clean. I wasn't there to do x-rays their way of trying to get money from me. I expected a full clean and that wasn't good enough for me. She of course charged me $55 for my husband's last cancellation so I guess it's OK for them to cancel me but when we cancel them they charge you this Dentist is all about making money. They have gotten too busy and don't seem to care anymore. I called the office manager and all she did was give me an attitude. She assumed that I was told that the Dentist brought me back and was going to do a clean which is not what I was told at all. She was very rude and unhelpful basically just said OK then. when the Dentist first opened, I thought they were amazing. They're not too big and too busy and pretentious. The least they could've done is giving me the $55 back for my time and gas but no, she wasn't even willing to budge I'm very disappointed with this place and the way they handled this read more

It took a long time for me to decide on Fitch Mountain Dental because I am scared of dentists. I had already scheduled appointments and cancelled at 2 other dentists. It had been about 10 years since I had a cleaning. Eeek. Finally, I scheduled, and I am very happy with my choice. The office was clean and modern. The staff was extra nice and friendly. I didn't feel uncomfortable, judged or oversold. They take my insurance -- Delta Dental. Two of the dentists attended the University of Michigan Dental School and they are old enough to have experience but young enough to be up-to-date with modern practices. Let me just start with I have a severe fear of the dentist. The thought of going sends me into a panic. I went to Fitch Mountain Dental about 3 months ago for the first time in 7+ years. I have a new baby and pregnancy made my gums awful. I was very clear before my appointment that I have this fear and need nitrous to calm me down. They are very tight with their time. The tech fumbled with their machine and couldn't get it to work. It barely worked while he worked on my teeth and I could feel the pain and hear all of the sounds. It's an open floor plan so you can really hear all of the sounds. Due to the limited amount of time I had to suffer through it. I was told I couldn't wait 6 months for another appointment so I had to come back in 3 months. Ok, scheduled the appointment for Feb 1. Got a call today that they have to reschedule my appointment for May 25th, which would have been 6 months after my initial appointment where I was told I couldn't wait that long... Going to find another dentist because either they aren't prioritizing people that supposedly can't wait that long or they lied to get more insurance money and have me come in more often. read more

I was looking for dental care in Healdsburg, and found Fitch Mountain Dental. If there's a dental heaven, I'm in it. It's walking distance from my house. The dentist, Dr. Kappus, is amazing. Clearly competent, and so genuinely personable. Love the staff. Love that there's an in-house lab which can make a crown on-site in half an hour. Truly, this is the best dental practice I've ever seen. Love this place and cannot recommend it highly enough! read more

This is a highly professional, beautiful and beautifully run office of the quality you might typically find only in a large city setting-so finding it in Sonoma County makes it even more wonderful. Dr. Kappus studied at our country's highest rated dental school and now practices with her husband alongside an amazing crew of delightful, capable and helpful people who make her day and make yours too. I had my initial visit today and it went so quickly and so smoothly I was sort of sorry it was over, but I can always go back, and I will. This practice is more interested in making fees from cancelations and rescheduling than taking care of long time patients. In the past, I've had my appointments moved or changed to fit their openings and schedule better. When i had an unexpected conflict, they had to ask the dentist who was unwilling to waive a cancellation fee but still wanted to reschedule. I'm sorry that they value that policy more than keeping an established customer. read more

My first time I came to the office everyone was so polite and eager to assist my needs. The staff and doctors make you feel comfortable and at ease. The doctors were positive and encouraging good health for my teeth. I did not feel they were trying to sell me on dental work that wasn't needed just to make money. I'd give this office 6 stars if possible. Dr Krista and Dr Dan are absolutely fabulous. I came to the office as I am now local to Healdsburg. My previous dentist is GUD (geographically undesirable) and could not remove a crown with normal numbing. So I asked for local recommendations for exceptional dentists and twice was told to see Dr Dan Lingenfelter. Make that three recommendations now. Dr Dan replaced my crown by taking the time that was required. And he was very pleasant about it, even though it was challenging. The office staff are extremely polite and helpful. I had sensitivity. She said I probably had a crack in tooth and should do a crown. I said do you see a crack and she said no but you probably have one. Huh? Pain went away on its own with some floride rinse and never needed a crown. That was years ago and if I listened to them I would have had an unnecessary procedure. I think I was misdiagnosed. Also refused to give me a cleaning unless I got pano x rays. Been a patient of Dr Leach since I was a kid. Don't like these new guys. read more

My husband has been going to this office for over 10 years, when it was still Villaggio Dental. Dr. Daniel Lingenfelter & Dr. Krista Kappus took over a few years ago. The office staff is always helpful and accommodating when possible. The doctors are friendly and patient. My husband's front tooth veneer fell off late last night, I sent the doctor a text message, luckily they were able to take their time out of their weekend to see him and address the problem before a family event we have today. In response to Dr. Dan's response to my review -- first of all I should have never let this much time pass for the sake of other customers. You obviously are not always happy to honor warranties because you did not honor mine. You said you would and then you didn't. First, your comment about this tooth maybe needing a root canal: you know better!!! I never gave you any reason to believe this tooth might need a root canal. I've had at least five of those in my life and I know what it feels like to need one. Had you suspected that that tooth needed a root canal you would have referred me to an endodontist, not as prosthodontist. You flat out lied in your response to my review. You make it sound like being "unhappy with the contours" is a "me" problem and not a "you" problem and that I'm just one of those impossible to please patients. Give me a break. The crown you put on (which replaced the crown before it that had a perfectly normal shape) is concave from the outside view and allows the tooth behind to be seen, which happens to have a gold filling and is now visible when I smile. The concavity of the crown you created in house and installed creates a dark shadow and looks like I have either a missing or rotting tooth. It is unsightly. Your fancy 3D scanner and 3D printer obviously misaligned the contours of the inside and outside of the crown, causing it to be offset in my mouth. It's poor workmanship. But it's still in my mouth, no root canal, no pain ... just ugly. Thanks for making my smile look worse and then trying to gaslight me when I asked you to fix it. I was really worried about a new dentist coming in after Dr. Leach left... I have had some pretty traumatizing experiences at the dentist as a child and it's taken me a few years and a lot of work on my teeth with Dr. Leach to get me somewhat calm. I had an emergency situation on a weekend and called the office, I spoke to Dr. Dan and he had me come in right away. I saw his wife in the office and she was so gentle and amazing!!! I had to come back in the following week to have the tooth extracted after a bad infection. She did an amazing job! I came back again and met Dr. Dan and he is just as amazing! I am so relieved that they have taken over and look forward to working with them both in the future!!! The office has been out of nitrus for awhile so my appointments have been on hold but I called them today and they are back in business!!! I will see them tomorrow! Give them a try! read more

For over 60 years, I've been subject to the dentist's chair. When I was introduced to these good people, it was the answer to my dental dreams. Sounds over the top, but it's true. Drs. Krista and Dan have provided crowns, cleaning and care in the comfort of their chair for me for several years now. My latest experience was arriving with a lost filling, broken tooth. A few hours later I left with a perfectly fitted new crown, and a full cleaning with very little pain in the process. Gotta love these pros. Their staff obviously like working there. This place is absolutely wonderful and Dr Leach is a saint. He is so great with my young daughter and wins an A+ in this Mom's book for bedside manner! The staff are all so gentle and understanding with children, their fears, and working to get the procedures DONE and in a FAST but efficient way. Entire facility is welcoming, clean, and has a calm feel. I am getting new insurance in a few weeks and I will be making my own appt to become a patient here as well! :) read more

I would like to say I did enjoy Dr. Leach . A great guy and dentist . The kind of guy I would have a beer with . He and Letty are great together.Will miss Letty. It is unfortunate but his office staff and especially Gladys have no place in customer service at all ! I have had nothing but problems because of her in my opinion. This not the first time I have had problems with the office staff . On Monday December 4th I received a call at 9:31 am while driving to Healdsburg for my appointment scheduled at 11am . I live in the area of Monte Rio so it time to travel the distance safely. I made that appointment 6 months prior. They told me they wanted to cancel the appointment. I was clear that due to the death of my mother a few months before I needed to help my father. My dad was preparing to leave for Mexico with my mothers ashes on that friday 8th for her memorial service. That the day had been planned out to do the last things before dad would leave. They wanted to give me another date on the following Wednesday . I repeated that would not work . I am sure none of the others had made their appointment 6 months prior and were not in such desperate situation and just because one person was ill this should haven't happened. Maybe someone who made there appointment less than 6 months prior ? As to the prior problems. Numeros Times the same person person attempted to change my appointments and I objected. She tried to change an appointment that was a 2 hour for a 1 hour appointment . Not one time but three times . Every time I attempted to explain that the reason for 2 hour appointment was the distance I travel but she persisted. Anytime I would question anything she was doing i would get this indignant (1000 yard ) stare. I would do things like bring fresh vegetables from my farm to attempt to get along , Be early for appointment , and always respectful . I don't waste time,fuel, or the environment when I come to town. As I attempted to explain to the staff out here it's 2 miles to the post office 12 miles round trip to a big store or fueling station and near 40 miles one way to a dental appointment !!!!!! But they didn't Listen ( didn't care at all ) On the evening of December 4 I found a message from the dental office . They had scheduled me without consideration for a Wednesday the 6th appointment even though I had told them REPEATEDLY I was not available . I thought to shine it but I had the respect to cancel the appointment I didn't ask for or need . I have been back to see Dr Dan several times since my first review and I have to say everything has only been positive since my First shaky visit. Thank goodness!! I really like this dental office and have sense met Dr Dan's wife the other Dr! My Best friend Jackie saw her on an emergency visit for a broken tooth. I had told Jackie about my first visit there since Dr Leach had left so she was prepared. Jackie told me that she absolutely loved her interaction! And was very pleased with the dentistry. So I take back everything negative I was thinking and feeling from that first visit. The office has made changes!! I did have a beautiful bridge placed and have been enjoying being able to chew on the L side of my mouth. I just returned yesterday for another procedure and the day before received a call from the financial person clarifying what was being done and what the cost would be. Great staff who are family friendly. I take my family there, including my 5 year. They have been her first dentist, and she loves going to get her check up. They provide excellent advise for keeping my teeth healthy and are not worried about being honest when helping me. By far the best choice for a dentist, even though I don't live in Healdsburg. I've had check ups and basic cleaning with extremely competent hygienists who know how to work with patients with sensitive teeth.
