I was a dental patient of Dr. Azizi for only a couple of months when I had an awful bike accident and broke a front tooth off at the root. I got in to see Dr. Azizi immediately and she provided a compassionate and highly skilled assessment and description of how my front tooth could be replaced with an implant. Dr. Gasper is an absolute artist with surgical precision and is an extremely kind as she provided the necessary bone and skin grafts. (This is not always necessary, but was in my case) My journey ended very close to the projected end date and resulted in a beautiful new tooth that exactly matches the other. I have had no problems what so ever with my implant. I cannot thank the entire staff enough for how thoughtful and calming they were while I went through the process.

This is the BEST dentist I have ever had, and I DON'T LIKE DENTISTS. I would give this 10 stars if…read moreI could, seriously. I learned at a later age in life that novocaine just doesn't work on me. My body is literally immune, and it just doesn't numb me. But when I was young, my dentist just thought I was being a baby. It didn't help that my mom worked for him, so he was also a family friend, and gave me the "it's going to be okay, just stop crying," pat on the shoulder and kick in the chair. Well needless to say, as an adult I have a HUGE fear of the dentist, as I was drilled into for years feeling everything little sensation in my mouth. I am so fearful, I almost had to hypnotize myself to get a cleaning. My lips are literally on auto quiver when I take a seat in the dentist chair. Well Dr. Johnson came recommended by a good friend who I trust. I am SO glad I checked him out. I have Delta Dental, and although they don't cover much, I don't care! I would pay double to be sure I always get to keep him as my dentist. He is gentle, easy, makes sure I am always numb when doing work, and I truly can't feel a thing when he is working on me. He is also very honest and a person of integrity and that is important to me. If he quotes a procedure, and ends up doing less, he will make sure the adjustment reflects in his payment. He also only does what is necessary and I never feel like he is trying to up sell me on unnecessary services. Their office staff is also so friendly and accommodating! They assist me in figuring out what will work best with my insurance and when to do what, which is excellent help! I just couldn't recommend a better Dentist! He is a Dentist Angel!!!!

Dr.Elkhoury and his entire staff are amazing! I had an issue with another dentist who failed to…read morediagnose a raging tooth infection, and diagnosed me with "post herpetic nueralgia" in my mouth instead. I know, I have never heard of this. I did not ever have shingles in my mouth. I believed this dentist because I asked him 5 times to recheck my mouth and xrays and the "specialist" endo he sent me to because what else am I to do? I started to doubt myself and was very depressed (really depressed) that I would have to live with this type of overwhelming pain since nueralgia is something you can't really cure. When I could not take the pain any longer I called Dr. Elkhoury because he has a great reputation and gave empathetic care to my daughter when she was 5 years old and needed a gum grafting. I explained to his front office my situation and also that the first day of school was the following Monday and 32 4th graders would end up with me as their teacher with tooth pain that was making me feel crazy. The woman who answered the phone fit me in the very next day, and I wasn't even a patient. Dr. Elkhoury and his assistant Bri listened to me, really listened, and found that I had an infected tooth that needed treatment immediately. I was prescribed antibiotics and referred to a capable dentist. His office staff made the appointment for me and the other dentist saw me right away. I had my crown removed, a root canal and the crown replaced with care. Thank goodness Dr. Elkhoury and his staff got me out of pain, started me on antibiotics, cordinated care to resolve the issue...most importantly....he and Bri listened and found the problem, all while treating me with empathy and not treating me like I was crazy because it turns out I'm not crazy. I just had a very infected tooth and not a life long disease with no end in site.

Here is my experience and take on that with this Periodontics COMPANY…read more I started at the Sonoma office. I had good expectations for what I thought would be. Sadly, despite continued hopefulness I found it lacking in what I think most of us hope for with medical professionals and their staff. The status game is most notable with the Periodontist himself. And from the rest of my experiences, money is the Number #1 in the direction and care. I personally believe that they are looking for the highest payout care and withhold sharing of knowledge with the aim of getting the money over what is BEST INTERESTS OF THEIR PATIENTS. Secondly, you can pay everything out the door. But when they realize you are not going to get any more business from you, they will magically come up with more bills you owe. Now to say that this isn't typical in our current times, would be a wrong. But just because it is predominant doesn't make it right. We vote with our money and choices. I don't resent the staff or the Periodontist here but I have high standards for us to stick with. And if you know something that will assist your patient and you treat them in another way to aim for more financial rewards short or long term, especially when it comes to permanent downfall from the patient, you and your staff then stink! Short and simple. Rotten motives dictating agenda of care offered.

Redwood Dental is here for you. I've been five times. I've met four dentists. At this point I'm expecting a punch card. One more visit and I get a free root canal. Visit 1: Dentist #1, Hygienist #1. I hadn't been in about a year, so I expected some consequences. They tell me I have three cavities. Three felt like... a strong opening bid, but okay. I take responsibility for, what I assumed, were my life choices, but in retrospect I question, and schedule the follow-up. Visit 2: Dentist #2, same hygienist.I New dentist, no explanation. Cavities get filled, and suddenly I'm being pitched a "protective coating" for my teeth. A coating. For my teeth. At this point I'm wondering if I accidentally brought my car in instead of my mouth. "Your molars are looking a little dull, we can ceramic those for you." but they're the experts and I need to be able to smile for selfies with my three-year-old, so sure. I guess we're going with the full rust protection.  Visit 3: Dentist #3, same hygienist. Now I'm told my fillings are "showing wear" and we should proactively remove and replace them. Wait? What? Didn't I just get the rust coating? He clarifies that nothing is broken. Nothing hurts. We're just... preemptively rebuilding my mouth like it's a condo that needs to stay market-ready at all times. This is when it clicked: this isn't dentistry. This is the PG&E of teeth always there to tell me I owe them more money as though their doing me a favor. I go home, compare notes with my wife, who, shockingly, is also getting exact same upsell experience, and we both decide it's time to find a new dentist. Visit 4: We forgot to cancel our appointments and learn there's a last minute $100 cancellation fee. For a dentist. Nothing says "healthcare provider" like a policy that feels like a gym membership you can't escape. Then, plot twist, they call us the day before to reschedule because of staffing issues. So just to recap: if I cancel, it's $100. If they cancel, it's... fine. My wife, who is a better person than I am, agrees to reschedule. I begin emotionally preparing for what I assume will be the final chapter. Visit 5: Dentist #4, Hygienist #2. And here we are, folks, we've reached the final boss level. New hygienist calls my name and then blocks the doorway so I have to squeeze past her like I'm entering a speakeasy for dental trauma. Cool start. Dentist comes in, calmly repeats previous recommendations, and confirms, this is key, nothing has actually changed with my teeth. Amazing. Love consistency. Not paying $600 to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Then the cleaning begins. And I want to be clear here: I've had dental work. Orthodontia. Oral surgery. I'm not new to this. This was different. This felt like my mouth got caught in a car wash that had recently developed anger issues. The suction tube? Constantly at the back of my throat and jabbing me as though it had a personal vendetta. Water? Everywhere. At several points I get blasted hard enough that it goes up my nose and down my neck. I left the dentist's office... wet. I have never, in my life, needed a towel after a cleaning, but this is the part I guess, where I should have kept my hands inside the ride for my own safety. Through out it all, the hygienist, armed with the suction tubes is casually glancing around, lightly dancing to the music like she's cleaning a kitchen, not performing a procedure inside a human being. Then the polish. Bubblegum paste. On my face. Up my nose. I'm essentially being frosted like a cupcake. Then flossing, with long acrylic nails. I'm getting stabbed, gums bleeding, just trying to survive the experience with whatever dignity I have left. At no point did this feel like healthcare. This felt like I owed someone money. When she says, "Run your tongue along your teeth and see how it feels," I stand up and leave like I just experienced something I need to report to cps. I don't know who hurt you, lady, but I've seen TSA Agents with a better bedside manner. Truly thankful that no one handed you anything sharper than a rubber tipped polisher, because there'd be a me shaped hole in the wall that I'd likely have been charged for. We're done. We're not going back. And if you value your mouth or better if you have loved ones who care about you... you should consider alternatives. Note: I just want to add here that the recepionist and the hygienist I had for the first few visits were great at what they do. So while I obviously had a pretty terrible experience there were of course some exceptions for which I am grateful.

After reviewing the bill, I contacted my insurance, who confirmed the deep cleanings performed were not medically necessary based on my x-rays. I was never informed of this before the procedures were done. The front desk is a broader issue. The team is cliquey, unresponsive, and consistently unprofessional. Billing communication in particular is anti-customer at every step: no proactive outreach, no transparency, and when they do reach out, it's an immediate collections threat with no context.
