When my dad retired, I went to a couple of different dentists. I finally ended up at Dr. Neal's office, and he was the only one who had the kindness, skill, and sense of humor as my dad did. He is a rare dentist who is not just searching for the almighty dollar. I highly commend him.

Also, they lately refuse to do the exam and cleaning in one day. Very inconvenient. Will be looking for a new dentist office.

I admire the fact that this organization does low-cost dental care for low income residents. But…read morethey are not honest with their clients. I made an appointment because I have a jagged crumbling molar that is causing me a lot of pain, including a sharp broken tooth that keeps catching my tongue. On my first visit, the (grumpy) dentist basically looked at the xrays, said "you'll need several fillings, possibly an extraction, and I can't file that broken tooth today because "I don't have the right instruments". They wanted to do a cleaning next, before doing any work, but the next cleaning appointment was over two months in the future, and my mouth is in bad shape, so I talked them into booking an office visit only a month out to address the worst issues, and then a cleaning when available. Today was that office visit appointment, so I took time off again and went in, not thrilled about the grumpy dentist, but thankful for the low-income dental help. I paid in advance. But when I got in the chair, Dr. Grumpy refused to do any of the work we had previously discussed, insisting again that I would have to do a deep cleaning first. I feel like this is a scam. I'm going to file the damned broken tooth myself, before I tear my poor tongue to shreds, and see if I can find a dental school somewhere to do the fillings. I can't afford to take more time off to get NO WORK done and deal with some grumpy argumentative dentist with a bad attitude. Avoid this place like the plague. There's something not right.

Unacceptable Treatment and Lack of Communication…read more Dear Healdsburg Dental Office I am writing to express my profound frustration regarding the appalling service I have received from your office. My attempts to obtain my dental records have been met with nothing short of obstruction, and the lack of communication from your staff is utterly unacceptable. Today, I called your office seeking clarification, only to encounter a receptionist who refused to provide her name and cited HIPPA regulations as a reason for her uncooperative behavior. I want to emphasize that my inquiry was not for medical information but rather a request for professional courtesy and transparency as a member of the community. The receptionist's insistence on withholding her identity while denying me basic information is both unprofessional and troubling. This experience has left me feeling disrespected and dismissed. As a patient and a community member, I expect a higher standard of service and communication. I urge you to address this matter promptly and ensure that your staff understands the importance of clear communication and professionalism. Please respond to me at your earliest convenience to resolve this issue. Attached I will show proof of phone call and time on phone call. She was very rude and then hung up on me. When I had a family member call back. She had to answer the phone. It was not her. She will not put her name in, but it was at 2:53 PM today on June 9 four minute phone call

This review is way overdue. If I could give zero stars I would . My son-in-law came in for an…read moreemergency root canal on Christmas Eve several years ago. He was in terrible pain and this was the only place that could get him in. He had very good insurance but was pressured into paying for the procedure in full. Ok, whatever. Dr. Tam kept him waiting for hours and after using high pressure scare tactics somehow pressured him into opening a credit account for future work to be performed. She even charged thousands on this account for work that had not been done yet. He repeatedly told her he didn't need the account and just wanted to get the procedure done that he came in for. He was desperate and went ahead with his root canal because he was in so much pain. After the procedure she allowed him to drive himself home which was crazy since he had been heavily medicated. However she never bothered to give him a prescription for antibiotics which he absolutely needed. Mind you she was aware that most pharmacies would be closed on Christmas day. I spoke to her the next day and found her to be disingenuous and condescending. Although she seems to have many seemingly positive reviews I recommend running away from this place as fast as possible. Please take time to read all of the negative reviews because they are certainly more accurate to our experience and many other trusting people unfortunately.

It has been over a month since my emergency visit to Dr. Toms office. It took me this long to…read morerecover from the incident and it was more than traumatic. Never having a tooth problem and not knowing what was happening; when the pain started I was confused and it was like nothing I've ever experienced. Bone crushing pain in my jaw that I understand is like or worse than childbirth, I give homage to all of the people who have gone thru this type of pain, no one really knows that this is the worse pain possible. Confused, I had two emergency room visits and was trying to figure out how to get to a dentist? It turns out my dentist scheduled me for an appt for a week out. When I arrived to him, he insulted me and kicked me out of the office for being in pain and limiting his access to my mouth (please read my review of him). And he referred me to an oral surgeon whom I immediately called; they saw me right then. For some reason they scheduled a surgery for another date, I think that doctor was actually trying to save the tooth in mention, seeing I could not open my mouth no one actually saw the tooth, so in this pain I waited yet again. By the time for the actual surgery I had been in this pain that had caused shock for about 10 days; violently shaking, no food, only pain pills and Ice...anything to help with the pain. I went to her office in Healdsburg. When I got there she realized that she would not be able to make me numb enough to do the job, so she called Dr. Toms office and they even drove me over which was close. I did have to wait for a while because the doctor was in the middle of working on a client, totally understandable and he and his staff stayed there after hours for me. At this time I do have to say that the Doctor that works with Dr. Tom saw me first and asked me if I had had anything to eat, in order to put me under general sedation, and I said that I had had some water in the morning and it was after 2ish. He said he didn't want to do it because he thought I would die, and then when I was crying in pain, he actually asked me if I wanted to die then! Turns out he had an appointment. Dr. Tom couldn't have been nicer, he is a big bear of a man and his personality is as large, in my opinion I felt safety because he was totally in control, and his staff has the humanity that I have not seen on this planet since the 70s. These folks saved my life! Their sense of urgency and compassion is stellar and the service didn't stop there. He insisted on seeing me numerous times after, in the healing process to make sure I was "out of the woods." The last time I went there for my final check up, I was overcome by gratefulness for the sincere humanity of this remarkable group of people. I will always be indebted to you because this was to date the worst event of my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

However, the office didn't give me much information at all about what the recovery would look like. When a problem arose post-surgery, Dr. Tom saw me right away. During the appointment, though, he was unkind and unprofessional. We spent only a few minutes together, and he seemed angry throughout. I pointed out that he was yelling at me, but he didn't change his manner. I asked a few questions and he barked his response at me each time. The door was open and my husband was able to hear much of the exchange and his impression was that Dr. Tom seemed impatient and unsympathetic. Dr. Tom went as far as to say that he only cared about whether my husband made his doctor's appointment in Santa Rosa, (which we'd scheduled around) and didn't care about me. I can't imagine Dr. Tom would treat a male patient this way. Please choose another provider if you want to be treated with respect.
