If you compare my old review to the current name on this page, you will see that things have…read morechanged and Brampton Crossfit is now Impact Fitness. I have countless great things from my experience when this gym was a Crossfit gym. I'd even tell others who live in other areas to consider Crossfit if they're looking for a new gym or a new approach to exercise. With that said, after several months at Crossfit, I realised that I was beginning to plateau. It's not to say that one can't continuously improve at a Crossfit gym, but if I'm honest, I like having things more or less programmed and prepared for me. Crossfit's workout of the day format offers that structure and is a great way to improve and then maintain fitness - but if you want get to the next level after a few months, you really need to consider doing a personal workout regimen, which many do at Crossfit gyms. The move to Impact Fitness is essentially a way of incorporating the things I loved about Crossfit, such as: group exercise, coaching, greater intensity workouts, heavier weights (if desired), a variety of exercises and other elements. In fact, many of the same exercises and equipment associated with Crossfit are still present. However, the class schedule now has more focus on determining goals, measuring progress and targeting specific areas. The daily schedule essentially operates in offering hour-long classes alternating between two types of workouts. One is 'strength', being weight training. The strength workouts in particular repeat throughout the month in order to continue working on the same area and work towards progressing. The other is 'conditioning', which is comparable to bootcamp styled high intensity interval training (HIIT). Beyond that, the workouts are also structured with either being mostly an upper body, or lower body work out. It allows you to plan your workouts and routine according to your goals, which can be done with the advice and help from the coaches. Effectively, Impact is a place where they have done most of the work in providing a workout plan and structure for members. It's really then just left to individuals to decide what their goals and preferences are, then plan their workout schedule and do the work accordingly. This is still with the benefit of a fun, supportive group atmosphere along with coaching. And hey, if you still want to do an even more personalized regimen, that's still available too.

We are both happy joining the program and working out with a group of gym buddies in, early morning. Paul and Christina are both fun to work with. It is highly recommended to join Impact Fitness to have a dedicated trainer for yourself and reach your fitness goals sooner.

The Change room could be a little crowded during preCovid peak times. Now days quite empty as most members have not yet returned to downtown. It also has a Yoga Studio, Group Exercise classes and a full size swimming pool on the top floor. Steam room and Whirl pool in both Men and Women's Change rooms. Although I have never been in the Women's Change Room. It has a 5 star restaurant attached with a gorgeous view of the lake and the city. You don't have to be a member to eat at the restaurant or visit the Health Clinic for Treatments. Membership is expensive though, I pay $200 a month for use of the gym and assigned a tiny cube to store my Running Shoes and some gym clothes. The bigger lockers are for day use only . You can request a tour of the facility to get a better understanding of the facilities. If you mention my name, you might get some freebies... I tried out the yoga lesson bright and early which was great as it felt more like a one one one. I liked this instructor as she wasn't too pushy or too pretentious (as is my issue with Yoga and I never really gave it a genuine go before for this reason). I felt great after and would probably even sign up for a membership if I worked in the area.

Overall the workout was fine and I did like the energy of the coach (Shaheed) but I think some…read morethings could be improved for the overall gym atmosphere. Firstly they don't have any front desk staff, so it was a bit confusing to locate the change area in the very back of the studio. There weren't any actual change room stalls, you just have to change in the tiny toilet stall which didn't feel that sanitary (uncovered plumber just sitting on the tile floor, no hooks for clothes inside the toilet stall, etc). Next, at the workout, the instructor just told us to grab a "light, medium and heavy weight" from all the dumbbells. Without any additional context it was hard to discern what an appropriate weight was - he should have given examples of the exercises we would be doing with each weight so we can judge what is appropriate. Furthermore the class was PACKED - I counted 22+ people attending, and you were basically shoulder to shoulder doing stuff like side lunges which meant you had to watch where you were stepping. Shaheed did do a good job of giving form corrections given how many people there were, but overall it still felt a little too crowded for the space. There was a huge variation of age ranges and body types in the class. Maybe for this reason the class seems a little bit more geared towards mobility and longevity than hypertrophy - we were doing some movements that I thought were strange (dumbbell curls while balancing on one leg). I can see the benefit for those that need work on their balance but for the average person it didn't seem that optimal for building muscle. Overall the rest of the studio (other than the bathroom) was open and clean, and the intensity of the workout was fine. Because of the negative points I mentioned in my review I don't think I'd come back, but I do see the benefits of this gym especially for those that have mobility concerns.

This was a great group physical activity and I enjoyed the concept of working out together under the guise of a staff member of Ferris360. Ferris360 is an indoor fitness space located in midtown Toronto on Yonge Street just before Davisville and across from Davisville subway station. They have been operating since 2012 and have different workouts catered to different strengths and target areas like HIIT, Pilates, barbell, and strength training. On this snowy, freezing raining Sunday 11 a.m., we had a private class (that's not listed on the roster). It was an one-hour class. We started with some alternating warm-ups: about 1 minute of cardio on any machine to get the heart going (you could choose between the treadmill, the rowing machine, stair climber, bicycle, or one machine there you pulled down using both arms) and then a minute of mat work. There were two major circuits we did which also involved alternating between cardio work and work on the mat with three different level weights. We did chest openers and presses on the floor with the weights. We alternated leg lifts with the weights in our arms. We then did three rounds of 10 weighted squats, 10 squat presses, 10 sit-ups, and 40 shoulder taps with each round alternated with a different cardio activity of our choice. We finished off with a cooling session: child's pose, downward dog, and pigeon pose. The hour of class flew by. The instructor explained all of the different activities thoroughly, but I wish he stayed in front of the room and continued to demonstrate them while we were doing them so I could reference how to do some properly. Nevertheless, it was a fruitful and good workout. The next day, I definitely felt my armpit and connecting arm areas sore from doing the "fly" chest openers. Ferris360 has gendered change rooms and washrooms on site as well as water for purchase. Their collection of varied cardio machines is impressive.

I visited…read morethrough ClassPass just when the studio was opening up- I believe it was a bit over a year ago, and they've expanded exponentially since then, which I take as a really good sign. I've taken classes with Dustin, Sam and Barbara (my favourite classes were with Barbara). They were all super enthusiastic, knowledgeable, gave attention to each individual, and set up exercises/drills/circuits that were hard and diverse, and usually as challenging as I wanted to make them. Everyone in the classes I attended were at different places in their fitness journey, and I never felt any pressure from the instructor to go too ham or do anything I was uncomfortable with. Overall the vibe was friendly and warm and not competitive. Although I'm taking a break from circuit, HIIT, and more strength building classes- I can't tell you how much I've been *loving* the Yoga Bar(re) expansion they created upstairs. I can't express how happy I am to have a yoga/barre studio that's a five minute walk from my place. I did the Barre class this morning and it was the best Barre style class I've ever taken. I did think the change room upstairs was a bit weird- sorry to whoever designed it. I just think it's very small and there is no space between the change area and bathrooms stalls, I generally like more privacy between going to the washroom and changing. I think it would be better if they removed the stalls and put in a single room for a toilet, with an actual door, if that makes sense. Either way, I'm really looking forward to taking more classes at this part of studio. Another thing I think would be awesome was if they offered more retail wise- I guess I just like to shop. Like maybe some massage balls, ect.

I've been seeing results!) It is a 30-minute circuit training with 9 stations, including a full body workout; you work with in-house personal trainers, and you get to punch and kick stuff #whynot lol. Another good thing is that you can drop in any time; the circuit starts every 3 minutes - just jump right in! The only time you need to book a time slot is when you sign up via website for a free trial session to see if you like it :) Please do take advantage of it if you're curious/interested and if you want to make a different in your overall health! Honestly, I have been such a long time yogi; I was a bit iffy about kickboxing/circuit training when my coworker asked me to join - it does sound a bit rough and I'm too fragile and delicate LMAO. I have decided to give 9Round a try; I go with my coworker at least 1-2 times a week after work. You can do the training stations by yourself, or work in pairs - which is what we did - it was more interactive, we had a lot more fun, and we push each other to work harder! After a month, I noticed that I have become stronger (now with muscles!), toner and my metabolism has surprisingly increased (aka, I eat a lot more now! Food fuels my hungry muscles lol). The owners, Joe and Irene, are very welcoming and passionate people, and they know your names by heart right when you walk in... okay maybe not Joe, he still mixes me and Julie up lol. The trainers at 9Round are friendly and encouraging, and always cheering us on... even though I know they are sweaty and tired. So, thank you :) Overall, I see potential that 9Round will do very well. I have already seen improvement - the way the manage the time, the flow of the stations, the adjustments and alterations for kickboxers of varioius levels. A quick shoutout to trainer, Ken - thank you for customizing my last workout, I really appreciate that. #girlWHOhasFATarms lol. Keep up the good work, 9Round :) P.S. Make sure you bring your indoor shoes! Owners pride on keeping their place clean at all times :)

This wasn't the ONLY reason why I joined though, Joe, Irene and their trainers are all so devoted in ensuring you get a good workout everytime and slowly increases the difficulties as they assess your progression. I can't squat AT ALL back then and now I can say I can do a pretty good squat hold. 30 minutes workout, 9 stations, 3 minutes each station really doesn't take too much time at all and you feel GREAT after. I try my best to come here 3 times a week usually after work, see if you can catch me at 9Round one day throwing some punches and kicks! Special shoutouts to the great previous and current trainers here! Joe, Ken, Michael x 2, Steve, Jade, Peter and of course Irene for making a 30 minutes workout intense AND fun at the same time!

Ownership is really great as well, they are always around and help out with the classes and everyone is very supportive. The bootcamp, circut training classes are very challenging and they alternate cardio and resistance training days. Everyday is different with the exercises, intervals and equipment. The cardio days are brutal!! haha. I tried the Bayview/Sheppard location but I didn't like the layout as much and it didn't feel the same compared the Empress Walk location. I go between 3-5 days a week with on average 4x. To date I lost close to 40lbs, got more toned and couldn't be more happier. The classes are difficult and they do push you to your limits. But, if you stick to it, you can reach your weight loss goals if you trust the process and figure out a meal routine that works for you. There is underground parking available. There is 1.5hr free parking, but you need to get your ticket validated at the studio. It is pretty pricey at $62.00/week after tax with ulimited access, but I am justy happy that I found something that works for me. Can't recommend enough.

Or even during the work out when you are struggling the team of amazing instructors will be there giving you verbal motivation or even modifying the workout so you dont quit mid way (to get you that 110%). Even your partner working out with you will say "you can do this! One more!". Bascially, you are never alone! What's more is that the team is super friendly and approachable! Got a question? Feel free and ask as they are more than willing to share their experience, passion and wisdom! 2) Hours: are you a morning person? Join the 6am class! Early work hours? There is the 6 or 7 pm class! Got that hour during for lunch and want to go crazy? Hop in the 12pm class. Missed a class and feeling bummed or want that extra burn? Make it up or push through in the weekend class. Basically saying, hours are flexible for you! 3) Cleanliness: this place is always clean and organized! The staff ensure that when you come in all your equipment is there ready to go! They have face towels to wipe that sweat. Heck after your intense workout go hop in one of their 3 showers to refresh yourself! 4) Ownership/Accountability: The team take pride in their work! Most of all, they want you to feel good about yourself! Meeting your goals, your victory is their victory. They will always ask how they can make things better, how they can improve. What suggestions the members can provide to help other members experience. 5) L-O-C-A-T-I-O-N!: Inside the north york center, this location is so ideal!. Coming downtown? Just hop on the north bound train heading to finch and just walk straight up. No going outside (which is amazing coz winter is coming!). Need to do groceries after? Well loblaws is downstairs! Finished that work out with a friend, partner, SO and want to chill? Cineplex is upstairs. Need to travel far? You are one station away from Finch Terminal for GO access. And for all drivers, you get to park inside the complex (safe from all that snow!) And oh yes they validate parking! My personal experience: I love this place for all the reasons I mentioned.
