This place is amazing! My 2nd wedding dress arrived one week before my wedding date and I needed it altered in such a short time. They were able to get me in on a Saturday morning and get the dress done the Saturday after. The whole top area needed to be taken in because it was too big for me. They were also able to adjust the straps and the front of the dress as it came down a bit too low. I came back that same afternoon 20 minutes before closing to have my main wedding dress bustled as well. I was worried I would be turned away but I was assisted with more patience and understanding. They have 1 large dressing room and 2 smaller ones. The staff here were very patient and helped me in and out of both of my dresses. My main dress is a corset style so it was not an easy task by any means to get me into my dress. The customer service I received was excellent throughout the whole process. I had to have my bridesmaids dress altered last minute. They were able to alter my dress within 4 days. I paid less than $200 for my dress, 3 layers to be cut about 3 inches off all around, had the waist tighten, and the straps shorten. This was my first time getting anything altered and my friends were telling me I wouldn't be able to find anyone who can do it. My son is getting married this Sunday. I had taken my dress to them to get hemmed and steamed. I picked it up today and when I got home there was a big grease stain on the upper portion of my dress. I took it back to them and they immediately began screaming at me that they had done this, blamed it on me, that my dress was used, which it is not, that and that my dress was garbage. I took it to a dry cleaners and they confirmed that it was oil from their machines. They are rude, too expensive, 160$ to hem and steam my dress and gave me 30$ refund! Ugh! I have a picture of me in the dress before I took it in with no stains and then now with their stains. Stay away! It's Friday, Labor Day weekend and dry cleaners are unable to help me. read more

A very good experience here! The ladies in the shop are so sweet! They were attentive, kind, and helpful! I do have to say having my daughters dress hemmed was on the pricey side! I was a little shocked when they told me the price. However. I don't know "the going rate" for hemming a dress so $220 could be right?! I just wasn't in the mood to drive around town to get other quotes and their friendliness hooked me from the get go. Her dress was finished in a timely manner too! I can't say enough great things about this place! The owner/seamstress is very kind and patient and gave her honest advice about how a garment would look if altered. She is not trying to run up the price and if anything did more for less. Her fittings were absolutely accurate and you can tell she's had a career of experience in doing this because of how perfectly the garments fit after her work! I had a bridesmaid dress altered here and it turned out amazing. after taking the dress to THREE different places and being told the dress couldn't be taken out (I was not pregnant before I bought the dress and got pregnant so the bust needed to be taken out) even after suggesting the extra material from the bottom be used to bring out the top and everywhere I went said no except this place! they walked me through what they were going to do (use the extra fabric at the bottom to take out at the bust) and had a fitting two weeks before giving me the dress to make sure it fit right and I didn't grow too much more so it wouldn't be tight at the wedding. They were also so nice! love this place and will definitely be back :) read more

I have been going to these ladies for 20 years!! First when my full-length beaded prom gown had to be altered way back in '98 and many more times over the years. They always do a beautiful job!! The owner of this place is nice however, her employees are nothing short of RUDE and incompetent. It used to be a great place where you knew you were getting a great product. Not anymore. Several times I have had to take items back to have re-done. I've received an uneven hem on the same dress 3 times, an uneven hem on a blouse making it unwearable as it would be too short if fixed and the knot for an invisible eye/hook on the outside of the garment where you could see it (3 times). Their prices are inflated especially for the poor product and horrible service they provide. The employees don't smile, are snappy and just plain rude. You try and explain what you want or what is wrong with the alteration and they just "snap" your garment out of your hands without listening to you. I have on more then one occasion told them they should be nice considering we are giving them our business. Today I was told I complain about too many things wrong. Here's a idea...fix it right the first time and I won't complain! This is not the same business or service that once was. They clearly don't want your business or they would try and be nice instead of bad mouthing you in Russian while you are standing there. Outside of prom and wedding dresses (which they specialize in) it isn't worth the time or anxiety. read more

I had my wedding dress altered here a few years ago and it was a great experience. The dress needed to be hemmed a ton and I also wanted to add a little va-va-voom in the front. Instead of trying to charge me more for the extra request, she suggested that I go find a cheaper bra at the nearby Ross store (something that looked best and had the padding I needed), and then cut that to perfectly fit in the dress. yuck yuck - FIT WRONG. They altered a dress for me and it looked AWFUL. When I went back in to tell them I couldn't even wear the dress for my friend's wedding and had to buy a new one, I couldn't believe the reaction I got. In no way would they refund my $150, the lady had the gall to tell me the dress wasn't for my body type anyway and it looked bad. So, basically she called me fat. Then she complained that she missed a family function to do my dress, like it was my fault. Before I left, she gave me a speech about how karma will come around and treat me well. Bad luck with the dress means I should throw it away so good things will happen to me. REALLY? Even though this was over a year ago, I STILL cringe every time I drive by and want to poop on their doorstep! read more

I recently had a dress emergency. A bridesmaid dress I bought for a friend's wedding wouldn't zip up because I had gained some weight in my chest area. I didn't realize this until the wedding was 12 days away. After being told there was no way to take the dress out at Nordstrom, I brought it to Fit-Rite and they reassured me everything would be okay and that there was plenty of fabric to take the dress out. Took in two pairs of pants for tailoring, one pair to let out the hem and take in the waist, one pair to just take in the waist. On the first pair, the waist was fine, but I think it was hemmed incorrectly because I stated to make it 35 inches but it seemed shorter and measuring it shows it is shorter than that. Second pair of pants is now unwearable. The tailor suggested taking the pants in at several additional areas other than the waist, and I trusted her since she's the expert. But when I tried them on, the seat came up way too snug. These are dress pants for work and I wanted a comfortable fit, not tight. Took the pants back to see what could be done and she tried to let the butt seam out as much as possible, but since fabric had been removed, not much to work with. So I just lost a pair of pants, wasting the money spent on the pants and on the tailoring. At least they were wearable with a belt previously. read more

Took in a pair of pants to be cut and sewn on Monday. The lady told me it was supposed to be done on Saturday by 11am. I showed up on Saturday at 1pm and pants can't be found. I help the lady look and it turns out the pants has been cut but not sewn. They now tell me its going to be Monday before its done. Very poor service and turnaround time not as promised. My mother and I have been going to Fit-Rite in Federal Way for more than 25 years - that's right, twenty-five. The Federal Way shop originally was in a different location than it is today and moved the their new location in the mid-90's when the old strip mall where they had been was demolished to make way for what is now H-Mart, Barnes & Nobel and all that. Generally you should allow a week for your work to be done. In all the years I've gone here, only once has something not been ready when they said it would be. I showed up to pick up my pants and they weren't ready. They had gotten behind due to some wedding dresses and could I give them another day - cool by me. I've had a variety of work done there, pants hemmed, skirts shortened, rips & torn seams fixed. Zippers replaced, waist bands altered and holes mended. They shortened curtains for me and put new lining in a leather jacket (which wasn't cheap, but 16 years later I'm still wearing the coat with the liner they put in). My mom used to weight 220 and she had this embroidered suit jacket which she loved. Over the years she's lost about 70lbs and the jacket became too big. Not a problem for Fit-Rite, they took the jacket apart and rebuilt it perfectly to fit mom at her new weight. Luda and all the ladies in this shop 110% know what they are doing. They do lots of wedding dresses and gowns for beauty queens, but they are more than happy to mend your favorite 15 year old sweater as well. I trust them 1000% and you can too. read more

Luda is AMAZING! I have been a customer since 2008. I have taken at least 10 pieces of clothing a year to her (pants, cocktail dresses, formal gowns) and have always been pleased with the results. This past summer I was the maid of honor in a wedding and had a very difficult dress (with a train) that needed to be altered. Not only did she empathize with me that the dress did not fit well, but she took a really difficult dress that did not look good and actually made it fit on me! Thanks to Luda and her team. These ladies were awesome! I was in a quick hurry to get some slacks fitting right before my first day @ a new job. I googled for locations in Federal Way, saw several positive reviews, called and got in right away. It took less than a minute for the seamstress to pin the fabric into place and I was on my way. I was told they wouldn't be ready until Saturday morning, which was ok, but I received a voicemail just 2 hours later that they were ready for pickup. My wife dropped off her dress for alteration the lady argued with her and told my wife how she was supposed to look in the dress, instead of listening to my wife and what she wanted. My wife pick the dress up today and the dress was not altered in the way she wanted and the so she took it back and the lady said, "You don't have the hips for this dress your butt isn't big enough, you want a professional dress but your not going to get one." Then she proceed to embarrass my wife further by talking in Russian to all the customers there and saying how many times to I have to fix this girls dress in Russian. My wife speaks a little Russian so she knew what she was saying. This lady needs heard business license revoked. Herr professionalism is crap. read more
