I moved away but still return to this little shop in Auburn for important alterations because the owner is so trustworthy. She is really nice but she tells you if your vision is not doable so you don't waste your money. She makes helpful suggestions but will do what you prefer. Her prices are reasonable. If she can't do it on your timeline, she just tells you and sends you off. We asked her to do something that might not be doable and she told us up front that there was a significant chance it would not work out so she was not recommending it because it was questionable and let us make up our minds about taking the monetary risk. read more

Let me clear this up, there has been a few reviews that are mistaking this location for another location down the street which is Sewing Specialties. Sew Beautiful Alternations is a nice Korean lady who I have been going for about 2-3 years now. She has always done a great job at hemming my pants and is willing to walk through it with me on why she prefers it a certain way while still taking my thoughts into consideration. I prefer someone who is willing to value my thoughts and also willing to not just do what the customer wants when it may not turn out well. English isn't her first language but she's always done great at explaining the process with me. Turnaround time is usually pretty quick, but I recommend not rushing her and let her do her thing since she's the professional. Definitely come with resources that you may need for her to get the exact measurements on how you will wear your items such as bringing the correct shoes, belt to hold up the pants, etc. Again, please do not confused this location with Sewing Specialties. They're both great locations, but I definitely feel more connected with Sew Beautiful Alternations. I am working on a dress for prom today that was hemmed here and it's the worst job I have ever seen in my life. No layer of any hem was straight and they charged her $400 to destroy her dress. The owner of this company should not be taking work that they are not qualified to do. I had my wedding dress altered here. It was not a great job. The hem at the bottom is uneven. She wouldn't touch the top. A friend of mine and I took in the top of my dress with darting to make it more form fitting. I think she didn't feel the need to make the dress more form fitting because I am curvy. My friend did an amazing job making sure his dress looks better after I spent $225 for crooked hem job on the layers at the bottom. But I didn't know any better. She is friendly. Called the shop to see if I could have a swim suit adjusted on the bottoms - prefaced my request with letting her know the party was tomorrow and was immediately interrupted with, "you said tomorrow, I cannot do." The lady who works there is so friendly. She explains everything in detail about what she is doing and why. The pricing is more on the expensive side, but she tells you exactly what she is charging you for. It is also quality work! You pay for what you get! I had a bridesmaid dress and my wedding dress altered. I told her what days I needed it by, and thankfully I got my dresses months in advance which gave her plenty of time to work with. She gave me a date for when the dresses will be ready by. When I got there, the dresses were ready and she had me try them on to make sure everything fit correctly. I moved to Auburn recently and needed to find a new tailor bc ... new jeans NEVER fit right, sooOooOooOooooo I looked to good ole Google for some insight on my options. It was between two close options, of which first tries are always risky, so I just picked the one with the most good reviews and hoped and prayed my jeans would come out at least wearable. Hours are not extended so since I work several cities away it was kind of difficult to pick up so I took another risk and sent my husband to pick up, which went smoothly. I came home, tried them on and to my pleasant surprise, they both fit SO perfectly! I couldn't have WISHED jeans magically appeared in a better fit! I was even more surprised bc the prices were fair! I believe this was my first time having something tailored so price wise, I didn't know what to expect. $70 to have this gown taken in at the waist line. It came out beautifully. The owner doesn't offer much small talk so expect to be in and out. The turn around time was 3 days to have this gown ready. I was able to try it on to make sure it fit to my liking once she made alterations. I'd go again if it was a last minute need but I think it was a bit spendy to say the gown wasn't steemed and was really wrinkled up. read more

I saw all of the amazing reviews for jeans alterations and I have taken a dress here before so I decided to bring my jeans in to have the waist hemmed. She did a horrible job. She only took the fabric in on only one side so the pockets are now uneven- and they are white jeans so it is very noticeable. There is also a bubble that appeared in the seam that she sewed making them look ridiculous and the seam that she sewed is not even straight. Would NOT recommended for pants alterations. read more

I've been to this business on a few occasions. I always get my Bjj gi's fixed and patched up here. Recently I bought a snowboarding jacket online and it had a damaged zipper. This place took care of me and ordered and new one and the jacket is brand new again. I'm glad I called about the zipper because I didn't know you can fix shit like that. The last person I went to made a few mistakes and didn't take in the dress as much as I really wanted, also the bust was coming off my chest (it looked really awkward) so I decided to come to Sew Beautiful for a second opinion. Great work however make sure you keep your receipt if you prepay. When I returned to pick up the piece she told me I did not pay for the service. I had to pull the receipt out of my wallet to prove to her that I had paid in advance for the $60.00 charge. I accidentally ordered the wrong size dress for my senior homecoming in October, and was SO disappointed. So I took my dress here, two days before homecoming.
