Ever since my usual stylist stopped working at my local salon (and then I moved so I'll never see her again!) I have yet to find someone who can intuitively cut my hair as well as do it so well that I can roll out of bed and it still falls naturally and looks great, arg! Obviously needing a new stylist in my new neighborhood, I decided to try Fisher because they seemed, from the looks at least, professional and experienced. The salon itself is very nice and well maintained. I like the design and they certainly put a lot of effort into the look. There are also quite a few stylists working here and it was very busy in the salon area (they also have a spa) so the popularity put me at ease. Sadly, the stylist I was assigned was not very chatty at all, which isn't a big deal but is a bit odd. Don't know if it was her or me. I would think with a brand new client they would assign a specifically noteworthy stylist... One thing that always bugs me about stylists is when I ask for their advice/opinion on something different from my current cut they NEVER seem to have anything to say. I feel that stylists should be able to assess a client and at least have some kind of opinion or suggestion for me to consider. The woman who was cutting my hair was just very non-committal about this so I ended up settling on my usual "go-to plain" cut. It's very simple but the end result just wasn't that great. And after all of the above, the kicker is the price was far more than the services rendered and I will not be returning, even for a trim of my bangs. I know I only saw one stylist out of many, so my decision not to return might be a bit unfair but stylists should be representative of the salon as a whole, and I just don't feel comfortable with the pricing, even with a different person. I started going to the Fisher Experience because a hair stylist that I had been to before and love, Kate Hickey, moved there. In general, I have been very pleased. It is pricey, but not much more so than another salon I was going to in the Milton area, and I prefer the Fisher Experience salon much more. The first floor is devoted to hair services, and is quite busy. It's very bright in there, with a giant skylight. Looking at other reviews, I have had other stylists help out Kate in terms of washing my hair, rinsing it out, applying conditioning treatments, doing the head massage during the shampooing process etc., but no one but Kate has ever applied color, cut my hair or blown it dry and styled it. Kate is great if you're a curly haired girl. I am a natural redhead whose "redness/richness" has faded somewhat at 40, and I do a semi-permanent color now. No one has ever gotten me as close to the color I had naturally at 25 than Kate. The salon is very professionally run, and they watch the time closely, which is why I think they have an everybody "pitches in" approach. I've never waited more than 5 minutes beyond the scheduled appointment time. The entire salon is very clean. Many of the staff are model-like types, but I think that's often true in the beauty industry. There are also some quirkier, funkier looking women working there, with some pretty edgy hair cuts and colors that I wish I could pull off. In any case, I've never gotten the sense that anyone is disrespectful or laughing at me, as one reviewer noted, and I am no beauty queen. In particular, I like Jenny at the desk and Laura, a hair stylist. I also love how staff continually ask you through your stay there if you'd like water, or something else to drink. The lower floor is devoted to spa services. I've had pedicures done there, which have all been excellent, by Michelle, Suzanne, and Nicole. For an eyebrow wax, I do agree with one of the previous reviewers that they tend to be very quick, and there's not a lot of emphasis on shaping. That said, I am looking for a fairly natural, but clean, look. I have noticed at time missed hairs, but in fairness to the technicians, my eyebrows and eyelashes are basically invisible without makeup...light blonde, so I am not an easy client in that way. In general, I am very pleased. I wish it was less expensive, but when I walk out the door, I am happy. read more

I've been going here for over a year now and seeing Kelly. Every single time she does my hair, she just does an absolutely amazing job. I had been to so many hair salons and had so many disappoints before coming here. A lot of stylists don't exactly listen to what you want, they kinda do their own thing but Kelly is able to get exactly what you want and asked for. The overall atmosphere of the place is super comfortable as well and everyone there is very welcoming. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because it's very expensive but my hairstylist is totally worth it! read more

I have always heard wonderful things about this salon but never had the chance to actually go here. Until Saturday. I went to a different salon on Thursday to get my usual highlights and fix my roots. The hairdresser that did my hair (I won't name any names) turned my hair orange and blue... and let me leave the salon like that. The woman who did my hair said she would try and fix it friday and to come back and see what they could do. When I went back, she just made it worse. I immediately called the Fisher Experience Friday after I left in a panic asking if they could help me because I had a baby shower on Sunday and could not have blue and orange hair. They booked me for the next day with Lindsey. The salon itself is extremely calm and professional. They asked me if I needed anything or wanted something to drink or eat. Everyone was so friendly. When Lindsey came over to get me she just seemed so nice and willing to help me. I explained the situation and she said we can absolutely help. She used a treatment in order to get the blue out and it also toned the orange down so much that it was almost like a honey color that actually blended. She suggested to wait about 4 weeks before putting anymore foils on it because I had just had two days of processing on my hair and it was important to keep my hair healthy. She gave me a Keratin treatment which was amazing and made my hair feel so soft and smooth. I told her she had gained a customer for life for helping so much. I have been going to the Fisher Experience for a little over a year and seeing stylist Amy Kaufman. I would defiantly recommend Amy for highlights - I get compliments all the time on how good they look (even when I am thinking they are too grown out)! The receptionists are always really friendly and I usually leave feeling great about my hair and life in general. The only draw back is that it is a little pricey .. Haircuts for women $47 - $87 and highlights $77 and up. Also - if you have a nut allergy beware!! They are complimentary mixed nuts set out for patrons (yikes, bring your epi-pen). read more

Well, all I can say is "I had the Fisher Experience!" I had my first appt with owner Bruce to get my hair a beautiful blond. I must say he did the trick and was completely attentive to me for 4 hours! Trying to sell me products, etc... After tip and purchase of shampoo and conditioner bill was over $350! I made my second appt because i loved my color and cut. Same thing though, 4 hours and over $350 later and he had an intern/assistant do my color. Third appt made 7 weeks in advance. Get there and he is working on a new client. He greets me and sends an intern/assitant to color my hair. While sitting there he is working on the new client in the chair next to me and I have to listen to him pitch expensive products while I'm thinking he's going to make $350 on me and same or more on her during my appt! I told the assistant to wash me out immediately. He said he would have been happy to work on my hair if "I asked nicely". As far as I'm concerned, I make an appt with you and pay your prices don't insult me and pawn me off on your helpers. He is a stylist that gets his kill then moves on. Classic bate and switch. A stylist/owner only after the $$$$$. This is Braintree not Newbury. And even when I went to Newbury, no one worked on me except for the person I booked with...even the owner. read more

Bruce is a master at his craft and this is the first time I have felt safe when my stylist hands me to a colleague to apply color or blow dry. He is meticulous in his cutting and attentive to his patrons. The front desk staff is superb. They are professional and welcoming. The products used to style are explained to you so you don't get home and wonder what's what. Yes, you do get what you pay for, especially when it comes to your hair. read more

I was recommended to this salon by a friend Teresa and her daughter Kelly. I hadnt had my hair cut in a year and a half since coivid so going to a salon I was nervous. I walked in and the people who worked their were very nice . Its very open and their is a beautiful skylight. Shawna walked up to me and I sat down and she chopped off alot since it was all the way down my back and had every color in it. We chatted and she made me feel comfortable and went to do color and she took her time and I was finally blonde. We talked about the haircut and my hair was so damaged . She made sure the length was what I wanted and then I told her I trust her and that was it. After I looked in the mirror and felt younger and cuter. I think she has a magic wand hidden. She is so talented and such a sweet person and very honest which I liked. Everyone in the salon complimented me and I felt so pretty after all that time. The people are so nice that work there and everyone smiles. I got home and looked in the mirror and cried happy tears. I sent her a photo and she said I looked like a blonde bombshell . I was just charged $130 for a Cut AND COLOR and an additional $140 for a balayage treatment which for those who don't know is just free hand highlighting. When I asked what the difference was between the Color portion of the first charge and the balayage highlighting...their only answer was "well the first charge is for the darker coloring at the top and the balayage is for the highlighting at the bottom" - either I just got scammed because they ringed me up wrong or that is the most overpriced coloring I've ever gotten in my life. The cut was a trim of the dead ends and my coloring was just to reinforce pretty much what I already have so it wasn't that durastic. On top of that I received a $20 toner (for the coloring but a separate charge of course) and a $40 keratase treatment for my dead ends which I wasn't asked if I wanted even though it was an extra charge. $330 later plus tip. Fisher Experience is the best. I originally came here a little over 2 years ago when, after going to another salon, my hair was RUINED and needed fixing. Kayla worked magic on it and I have been going to this salon ever since. I always see Kayla or Cora depending on who is available the day I can come in, but they are both fantastic at what they do! I'm obsessed with this salon and Laura's service. She gives THE best head massage and my hair always comes out looking flawless. People often think my hair isn't colored when in fact it's highlighted blonde. Love that! The salon is cute too. I've been going to this place for years now and will keep coming back. I don't think they do anything special for haircuts (at least person I keep seeing) but she does a good job just a bit simple. The reason I come back is the coloring well in my case 3/4 foil. I do't like to bleach my hair but I do like to lighten my hair and I am pretty happy with how my hairdresser been doing it, so I recommend this place. The price is a little bit pricey especially for just a hair cut but foil or coloring is definitely worth it. read more

This salon is amazing! When I walked in, a polite receptionist greeted me, offered me a cold drink, and hung my coat. My stylist, Kayla, was on time, professional, and thoughtful. She asked three simple, but great questions about my hair and listened to my answers. She washed my hair, complete with a head massage, used products that *really* were excellent for my hair, and I walked away with the best haircut I've ever had! I just got highlights done for the first time in YEARS (been covering my grays on my own and kind of destroying my hair). I was a little nervous getting foils, but have had great haircuts at Fisher in the past. Bruce and Mike were awesome - professional and friendly - and I LOVE my new look!! I got "honey amber" foils over my brown hair after asking Bruce for advice about my coloring, and I am so happy with it. Also, I have had some bad experiences with my bangs in the past and, I don't know how Bruce did it, but with a few snips, my bangs look better than they ever have (of course honey amber highlights brighten my face right up!). I have already gotten a lot of nice comments on my hair and I would definitely recommend Fisher! read more

I just had my first appointment with Caryn for a cut and style. I was so pleased. She really did an amazing job. She managed to make my unruly hair look better with a blow dryer than I could with a flat iron and curling iron combined. No one has ever managed to do that. She was also very honest and considerate about the different types of colors and products that work for my hair condition. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The salon itself is bright and clean, and they carry/use nice products. I can't wait for my next visit. read more

Laura is the best! Fisher Experience is my favorite salon in the area. I've been coming here for the last year and a half and plan to continue. I have dry, curly, challenging hair and Laura has done an absolutely amazing job of bringing it back to a healthier state. She blows out and flat irons my hair until it's beautifully straight. Her blowouts last almost a week. She's also a terrific colorist. Not only is she expert at these two things, but she's also warm, professional, VERY knowledgeable about products and processes, and gives her best effort every appointment. She takes time with her clients and provides an honest assessment about appropriate treatments, depending on hair type and color. A friend of mine also goes to Laura. She has a totally different color and texture than I do and she is equally happy with Laura's work. read more

I have been going to Fisher Experience off and on for the past 2 years. Their coloring services are their specialty and I have recieved fantastic highlights from them several times. I had my hair done there for my wedding last year, and Robbi did a great job with an admittedly picky bride. Ali does a great job with highlights, and Karen gave me the best haircut that my curly hair has EVER seen in it's 26 year existence (no joke). The only downside to this salon is that it is pricey, but you do recieve excellent service and it has a good atmosphere. I like that I do not have to go into Boston to get a Boston-quality salon experience. read more

Newbury Salon prices, but not newbury quality cut. I went to Scarlet. Told her I wanted CARAMEL highlights, no red for summer. I ended up with reddish/orangey highlights (full head). I was in the salon for FOUR HOURS. I used to have a stylist in NJ who could do a haircut and a full head of highlights plus touch up my base to hide the grays in TWO hours. There is no reason why it should take four hours to do my hair. And I actually went to a salon on Newbury that was cheaper and the girl did the same thing for less money in less time. I have the swooping side bang and she literally made ONE cut to trim them and didnt even hold the hair when she did it. I trusted she knew what she was doing, but the hair did not lay right at after a week of blowdrying it, I was mad and I was going to go back to the Salon for her to fix the color and the bangs, but I just decided to wait another 8 weeks and go back to the girl on Newbury....I was very disappointed. I also cut my own bangs in my bathroom and got compliments on the bangs after I did so! read more

I had heard about Fisher before, but today I was in need of cut and they fit me in. I honestly can't say enough about the service. Everyone was so genuinely nice and welcoming. I sat with Jenn- she is amazing. She pulled up an image after I described what I was looking for, and then gave me the perfect cut and an incredible blow out (which is tough with curly hair). HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! I made an appointment to get my hair done for my wedding day. I got their on time, but waited over 25 minutes to get someone to do my hair (I was so shaken, angry and almost cried) since the stylist who was supposed to do my hair was busy with another customer and could care less. So finally they got me another stylist who was very sweet and did a great job filling in, but my curls fell a part by the time i got to the church. Had a moment today at the Fisher Experience. Got my hair cut by Bruce Fisher who not only nailed it but made me feel like a new and improved model! I have naturally curly hair which had grown out and was completely out of control. Bruce suggested I look through some pictures of short curly cuts and low and behold, I found one that would work. I have been to Fisher experience quite a few times since moving to the area. The service there is exceptional. I have only had spa services, mostly manicures and pedicures. They are great. Christina and Michelle are the best. They are a lot of fun and very good at what you do. The pedicure itself is a great value for the money. They do every possible service to pamper your feet, electric buffing, exfoliation, parafin wax and great massage. I have been searching for a hair stylists for many many years.I have been to all the high end salons in Boston from Newbury street to the Ritz Carlton all I'm my younger days.I am now over 50 and consider my self still very much up on the styles.I started growing my hair out a little and wanted a new short hairstyle,and then one day while shopping I looked up at a woman with the most amazing short hairstyle and color.I immediately approached her and asked who do you go to.She stated that she goes to Fisher Experience in Braintree and Shawna is her stylist.I called to make an appointment to have a consultation.I showed her what I would like and then was going to set up an appointment and luckily while I was there she had a cancellation.The rest is history.If you want a real pro meet Shawna.She has been with Fisher for 18 years and it shows.She gave me a fabulous style the very best I have had in a very long time.I have some problem areas that I usually have to explain to all new hairstylist and even then they do not fully understand how to work around it.Shawna identified it in 5 mins.I can not say enough about how skilled she is.I then decided to have my hair colored because my highlights were just about grown out.I have natural dark brown hair and my blonde highlights were over over due.Shawna suggested an all together different process that had never been used on me.Now when I leave the salon or am out in public I have strangers coming up to me.Lol.I recently found out she is well known for all types of hairstyles but especially exceptional with short hair.The girls up front were so professional and friendly not snobby at all.I took down names but have misplaced them.All I can say it is well worth the experience.I will say that the price may shock you a little but it is well worth it.If you go there you will understand why.As one of the other reviews stated you get what you pay for.So so true. read more

Fisher is the best of the best. I have been going there for over 20 years because they provide awesome customer service, do a fabulous job with hair, makeup, and spa services. When I lived here in Ma before moving I use to go to Giovanna's I saw Fisher Experience and decided to try them out. Have been several times for eye-brow wax CHRISTINA is awesome personable, sweet, friendly and makes you comfortable. This salon is fabulous. I haven't been to a new stylist/colorist in 7 years but since moved I needed to find a new place. I had heard great things about Scarlett so I gave it a shot...and I'm so glad I did!! She helped me pick what would look best from the few choices I had narrowed it down to, and then matched my hair to exactly what I wanted. On top of that I had my hair washed by Colleen, and had the best head massage I've ever experienced. This salon really makes you feel pampered and is extremely clean.
