-- cross posting my review on google -- Former Newbury street, Boston client, looking for a comparable result on the south shore, and I am ecstatic. I followed my prior stylist for 15 years but when the covid shutdown happened and then remote work, it became increasingly difficult to get into the city. I had tried a different Hingham salon and the color and cut just didn't compare...so when I could, I struggled back into the city when I could to get the color and cut I needed. I finally couldn't do it anymore and happened upon reviews for Texture and Gloss. I could not be happier!! The color and cut is even better than what I had. I have a lot of hair. Left to air dry it is curly but unpredictable in its curls and general shape. And I had no way to deal with it. Brush it and it's frizzy! Blow dried it keeps its shape (unless it's too humid) but that was a lot of work and I was at a loss. I'm in my late 30s with my hairline going white (not grey) -- a stark difference from my usual natural brunette. I called Texture and Gloss and explained I was coming from a Boston salon, needed color and gloss and cut, and they offered two stylists. I chose the senior stylist, Amanda, and I'm beyond thrilled. She listens but also advises. She is creative and skilled. She is upbeat and positive and makes the entire experience light and fun but also a self-care moment. I first went in late January. I told her about my curly-natural but blow-dry-straight hair and how i struggled and what I needed. She gave me a better cut than I had in Boston. She taught me how to handle my curly hair (when I wanted it) and advised on a product to use (only when I asked! She didn't push!). And the cut looks great both curly and straightened (with a blow-dry). Cost is a little less than Boston but not a lot less. But she's a senior stylist and deserves it, honestly. (You get what you pay for! Plus, without commuting in, the cost in terms of time and money still makes Texture and Gloss a steal.) Obviously went back for my second cut and color and love it as much or more than the first time! Highly recommend. read more

Called to schedule my first appointment, which was a correction, and I was told that a new stylist, Amanda, would take me and it would be around $300 for a color correction and cut (and assuming blow dry or reduction in price if I left with wet hair). First appointment was $582.06 (two hair products purchased so let's say $500) + $100 tip. Explanation for an appointment that is more than I spent going to the best salons in NYC was the hair color correction + cut but next time would be around $220-230 (assumed color + cut + dry, just without the correction excuse). Second appointment was just a partial highlight, root color and some other color - no cut and they sent me home with wet hair for $281, not including tip. I told the girl at the front desk that between two appointments - taking out products totaled $600 + 281 =$881.00 or $440 an appointment, which is outrageous and I'll never go back. The salon should never allow stylists to gauge their clients. So many could never afford this so I help this review gives future customers a chance to lock in a price before booking an appointment. read more

I could not get in to my regular hair lady but was able to book an appointment with AMANDA yesterday . She listened to me when I explained what I wanted and did her best to do it. I got a lovely hair cut and blow out . The place was hopping because of the holidays and everyone I chatted with while waiting was complimentary about all the stylists . I had hoped for an appointment with Carolyn the owner because of the great reviews on Yelp . I suspect that the stylists there are consistently good . I will probably book amanda again as she did such a good haircut and was so pleasant . It has a no nonsense vibe and there is coffee et c at the front. I love the doggie ... ! read more

Super hesitant to leave my Newbury St salon after moving to the South Shore, I am so glad I found Lisa! I have naturally auburn hair that I am always nervous to color because dying red hair can be dicey. After chopping my natural highlights off in a drastic cut a couple years ago - and discovering more white hairs than I remember - I recently started lightening it. My salon in Boston added a light, natural balayage to it in a way that lets it grow out gracefully. It had been almost two years since I had it done last when I met Lisa for a consultation to update the look. Today she worked her magic and I am a new loyal customer! She exceeded my expectations! Texture and Gloss is great and Carolyn who owns and run the salon always takes extra time to greet customers adding a personal touch to the visit. It's nice to be able to get good service and a stylish cut without going to the city. I've gone to several of the stylists including Lauren and Alexandra and each time they were great as well. read more

I went to Texture & Gloss for a pretty straightforward cut (lob) and my 4yo had her first real hair cut there at the same time. The facility is pretty nice-modern, open, clean. And I appreciated the extended more-flexible hours. Overall, though, I didn't feel like the experience was any more than mediocre/just satisfactory. Cut was ok, service just ok, but quite pricey. Worth a shot to see if it's a good fit for you, but I'll be continuing my search for a hair salon I love. read more

Had my first experience yesterday with Lisa, in one word "Awesome"!!!! She is amazing, the salon is adorable, exposed brick & beautiful hardwood floors, it's located in a quant area of cohasset & there is a Peel Pizza few doors down, a magic combination! I will be back to see Lisa again, she is truly talented!! read more

Great stylists! It is hard to find a good hair salon these days but Texture and Gloss is terrific! The stylists are receptive, good listeners, nice , helpful and you will not be disappointed. Each stylist is experienced, talented and skilled. My hair can be difficult but never here. Better still, I am always cheered up by the time I leave because my hair looks fabulous. It is wonderful to have Texture and Gloss on the South Shore. You live elsewhere? It is worth the trip to come here. The only problem with leaving a rave review is that it will be harder to get an appointment. It is a risk I am willing to take. read more

Never written a Yelp review before, so here goes. Loved it! I came in last week with a bit of a challenge due to what a prior salon had done to my hair. Three different people having worked on my hair, a lot of patience and understanding on T&G's part, visits on two different days, and couple color iterations later, I walked out of T&G today with a cut and color better than what I had asked or was looking for. Andrea and Lisa both do a great color and cut. Because it is difficult to get appointments here, I have ended up alternating between whichever is available, and they are both great. Both very professional and experts at color. They listen to my concerns and give me the results I want. Environment is pleasant and all the stylists and receptions are very courtiers and helpful. The only negative (and this is because of the excellence of the service) is that it can take up t 6 weeks to get an appointment, so book far in advance. read more

I followed my stylist Lisa here. I have never loved or trusted a stylist as much as I have with Lisa and now I love the salon just as much. Lisa is the kind of stylist that REALLY listens to what you want, but will give you her input to help guide you with her expertise to help you have the best hair possible. I'm a bit of a crazy person when it comes to cutting my hair and Lisa always respects me when I tell her to "keep the length!" Haha. I always feel like my hair is 10x's more healthier and beautiful, but yet still long when I leave :-) I also love the new salon! I used to work in a salon on newbury street and this is just as/if not better than any boston high end salon. The staff is great and friendly and you can tell everyone jives well with each other. Not stuffy or pretentious. Beautiful aesthetic and nice decor. I HIGHLY recommend this salon and most of all Lisa! You will not regret it!!! read more

This is the first time I've been impressed by a stylist on the South Shore, and I've been looking for 20 yrs. Carolyn, the owner, is intelligent, knowledgeable, and very helpful. She got my color right, helped me achieve a cute style I can maintain, and I can actually get appts when I want them. I've been several times, so the quality is consistent. I followed Carolyn to Texture and Gloss in Cohasset and she is a remarkable stylist. For me, one of the most important qualities of a great stylist is that he/she is consistent. If you've ever had your hair cut and had five inches taken off when you asked for a trim, you will understand. She is also excellent with color and really nice, which helps when at a salon as it should be a pleasurable experience. I would highly recommend. read more
