I've been coming to Zen nails for quite some time now and i've home to a handful of different people. unfortunately i only trust Tony to do my nails as i've run into some issues with everyone else. i'm very picky about my nails so i have a hard time going to someone else. after having trouble with scheduling an appt with tony i finally decided to try someone new. I had the pleasure of getting my acrylics done by Avon. she did an incredible job! she knows of me as my sister gets her nails and eyebrows done by her. she did an amazing job. she made sure that my nail shape was what i wanted and reminded me to let her know if i had any issues with any of it. i did my usual nails which is coffin shaped with gel and the hologram or chrome powder. i've had nonstop compliments on them and i love them so much. highly recommend! read more

I went here to try somewhere new in town and was dissapointed in how quickly my nails chipped and the gel came off. I have never gotten dip and had it all fall off in 5 days. I paid $40 and tipped well to get a gel manicure with chrome on top and the chrome immediately came off and the gel came over very shortly after. Dissapointed! read more

The service has definitely gone down. I love going there but only if Vie or her daughter is available. There are so many other nail salons in braintree to go to but I always go to Zens. Now i will have to rethink where I go. The nail techs rush and do not do a good job anymore. My first appointment was pretty good and my nails looked nice ! But there's no consistency my second appointment my nails looked ok but you can clearly tell she was rushing even though it wasn't busy in the salon... my last appointment was by far the worst. After less than a week 1 of my acrylic nails snapped In half so I went in for a repair and I wish I didn't waste my time .... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Came in at 9AM on Saturday for a walk in appointment. They were nice to take me because I wanted both a manicure and pedicure. That being said, I gave a star for each of those things. I had Jenny; she was nice but the whole experience felt very rushed. Given it was a walk in appointment and two services being requested, I tried to give benefit of the doubt. The pedicure was fine and they made sure to have me leave with dry nails as it was a regular manicure and not a gel service. However the price of 43 dollars is pretty high for regular nail polish and these are my cuticles the following day. I do not think this is worth the money as I have been to many other salons and have not seen my cuticles in this shape following a service. I would not recommend this salon and will not be back in the future. read more

Great service! I've come 4 times and waited to write a review until I got more experience. The pedis are relaxing and they really take care of your callouses and cuticles. The hot stone massage is a highlight of the pedi. Ouyen is a great nail tech - my toes looks awesome thanks to her. Kim did my gel mani and she's super nice. My gel mani form here the first time around lasted 2.5 weeks! They take their time here to clean all the edges and make sure the shellac is smooth. Overall a gel mani and regular pedi are $25 each. On par with other places! Also they offer water and soda while you're getting your services :) read more

I never get acrylic...whether it's my hands or feet. The new male in the shop, does not know wtf he's doing. I shouldn't be telling you how to do your job. He tried to use the acrylic nail blade on my toe nail, it's regular polish...wtf are you doing?!? He doesn't know how to use a cuticle cutter which pissed me off to the point where I had him just paint my toe nails. He couldn't even do that right. I shouldn't have to tell you how to do your job. I get my nails done faithfully, every two weeks at a place in Boston. I was in a pinch this weekend, and unable to get there so I ended up at Zen. What a mistake! If you have long acrylic nails, like myself, I would highly recommend not going to Zen. They have no idea what they're doing, and do not care about the quality of their work. This was the worse pedicure experience I ever had, the lady rushed through it. I am assuming she rushed through it because I was a young guy, and thought I didnt know better. Legit skipped multiple steps and didnt even care. Most annoying part was the nail polish. Yes I get clear nail polish, and the lady literally just painted 10 toe nails in 2 seconds and just did it like a kid. It came out rough and sandy I took off the polish when i got home. She did the nail polish out of order, she painted them and then decided to oil and lotion my legs and using the hot stones, because maybe it was faster to dry idk. She then hits the wet nails while doing this. I pay for a service the same price as females and this is disappointing that I recieve such a bad service. I get pedicures once a month, and I tried this place because I was in the area. Will never come here ever again. Absolute worse place ever. read more

Came here today for the first time. Needed to get a dip manicure removed after being botched by another salon. Lynne was so helpful and gentle knowing my nails were mistreated. Even got a pedicure while I waited for the acetone to kick in. She wrote down the name of a product she recommends for me to use on my nails to strengthen them and gave me a lot of helpful information to make sure I keep my nails healthy going forward. Love this place! I've been both for a pedicure and an acrylic fill. I am very particular about my acrylics and Tony and Johnny took the time with me to learn my style and he was extremely detail oriented. The color selection was awesome and he can do some great designs too if that's up your alley. The pedicure too was out of this world. They use the hot stones and take their time in the massages which is always a plus. The salon is extremely clean, the staff is polite and helpful and always offer to fix a smudge or broken nail right on the spot :) Update: 6/10/14 Johnny is the best! Finally tried someone else besides Tony and Kim and I'm glad I did. Johnny totally rocks it. I've been going to this nail salon for a couple years mostly because of location and how accommodating they are but the consistency of quality of service is mixed. My last visit was the worst I've expereinced. Not only was my pedicure terrible (cut into my cuticle) but they burned my leg with one of the hot stones. When I told her to stop she did but then proceeded to put oil on my leg and then I told her no she went and grabbed a hot towel to out in my leg. She must have been new, obviously not trained on how to apply hot stones on the skin and not aware of if the skin turns red from applying the hot stone, it's not a good thing! Please train the staff on the services you are providing. It is not a Zen experience when you burn a customer. read more

I used to go to zen pretty regularly for a gel mani pedi. Normally I'd get good service and the gel would last for two full weeks. Plus, it was an easy peel off at the end, which I love because I hate having to get it professionally taken off. Since I have a had a couple of great experiences, even though I moved to east Boston I would still go down to zen to get my nails done. Well, not anymore. I understand the weather went above freezing for the first time in a while today so they were pretty busy. But that's no excuse to rush customers out the door. The man who did my gel mani barely did anything to my cuticles and shaped the nails horribly. Then rushed through my pedicure to open the chair up. I barely had 8 minutes to let my pedicure dry and the guy I had (who previously disappeared) came over to me in a rush, sprayed my feet with the drying spray, pulled my shoes over, and promptly waited for me at the register. Since it's still winter, I did wear boots. Well, I just got home and you'll never guess, that of course my socks stuck to my still went toes. $60 for the worst gel mani and pedi I've ever gotten in my 28 years of life. Thanks zen, my vacation starts tomorrow at 7am when I board the plane so there's no way I can fix this now. You lost a loyal customer over this one. read more

Firstly, I love a great pedicure and sometimes even manicure - who doesn't like getting cleaned up and feeling clean and fresh. However, from the instant of opening the door, I had never been slammed so hard with poisonous fumes and chemicals - as this place! Seriously! Most pedicure places have an odor, some do a better job than others... this place apparently doesn't care if all of their employees end up with cancer or their customers. Do a quick google search and see for yourself how these fumes do cause cancer! I've been to at least 15 different pedicure businesses and nothing has been nearly as bad. When doing my research, I noticed that these places do not have any standards or codes to live up to as far as air purity, etc. they could literally have 100x the amount of poisonous chemicals in the air, and they, nor you as a customer, nor the workers would ever have a clue! It's not regulated! The second straw that broke the camels back was that they don't use plastic bags or clean their foot tray well. All the up-to-date nail shops that I've been to are using plastic bags to make sure that each customer has a clean, new, and fresh experience. Not this place - be ready to catch someone else's foot fungus - Ive made that mistake before and never again. I suggest that this place invests into proper ventilation, starts using safer ingredients, and starts using plastic throw away liners. Until all of that happens, you can't pay me enough money to go there! Your body is a temple and you have one life to live - Be aware and protect yourself! read more
